Patience Faka Jonathan (born 25 October 1957) is the current First Lady of Nigeria and a permanent secretary in her native Bayelsa State. She is married to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan
Education

Born in Port Harcourt, she earned her school certificate in 1976, and passed the West African School Certificate Examination(WASCE) in 1980. In 1989, she obtained the National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Mathematics and Biology from the Rivers State College of Arts and Science, Port Harcourt. She then proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt and studied for a B.Ed in Biology and Psychology.

Career

Jonathan started her career as a teacher at the Stella Maris College, Port Harcourt and Sports Institute Isake. She then moved to the banking sector in 1997, where she established the first community bank in Port Harcourt called the Akpo Community Bank. She served as Marketing Manager of Imiete Community Bank. She returned to the classroom briefly again as a teacher. Eventually she was transferred to the Bayelsa State Ministry of Education, where she served until 29 May 1999 when her husband became the Deputy Governor of the state. On 12 July 2012, she was appointed as permanent secretary in Bayelsa state by a Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson, who was helped to his governorship position by her husband (who was then the incumbent President). The appointment caused national outrage and ridicule considering she had been on leave from the civil service for over 13 years, since her husband became deputy governor in 1999 and some critics argued it was a national embarrassment highlighting there was no merit or evidence of any recent performance to warrant a promotion to the peak of the civil service.

She and her husband have two children.

Philanthropic work

Jonathan has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally for her philanthropic work and political pragmatism. She received the "Beyond The Tears" International Humanitarian Award New Patience Faka Jonathan (born 25 October 1957) is the current First Lady of Nigeria and a permanent secretary in her native Bayelsa State. York, USA, in 2008 for her role in the global fight against HIV/AIDS; the African Goodwill Ambassador Award (Los Angeles, USA, 2008) and the recipient of the "Wind of Change" Award from the South/South Women’s Organization.

When Goodluck Jonathan served as Governor between 2005 and 2007, Patience Jonathan served the state in the capacity of the first Lady of Bayelsa State. During this period, she founded many philanthropic and women empowerment programs, among them are the A-Aruere Reachout Foundation (AARF) which she set up to improve the status and earning capacity of Nigerian women and youths. The foundation already has its focus on supporting and assisting children with heart-related problems.

Juventus spent about €12 million to sign Carlos Tevez, a fraction of what Real Madrid paid for Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, yet it was the Argentine who called the shots in their Champions League clash on Tuesday.

Tevez, who has been playing some of the best football of his career and is leading Serie A scorer with 20 goals, gave another inspiring performance as he tipped the first leg of the semifinal in Juventus's favour by helping them to a 2-1 win.

Real's defence never got to grips with Tevez's speed, tenacity and close control as the Argentine revelled in the tie, the highest profile match he has played since his move to Juventus at the start of last season.

Often dropping deep to collect the ball in midfield, Tevez then ran at the heart of the Real defence, creating a sense of danger and anticipation among the home fans almost every time.

Tevez's powerful low drive led to Juve's opening goal in the ninth minute when Real keeper Iker Casillas could only parry the ball to the feet of Alvaro Morata, who tapped the ball into the net against his old club from close range.

The run which led to the winner summed up Tevez's qualities.

TRICKY TEVEZ

After being sent clear by Morata, Tevez charged into the Real area and, although he appeared to be running into a corner, he tricked Dani Carvajal into knocking him over, winning a penalty which he smashed home himself for the winner.

The 31-year-old Argentine arrived at Juve under a cloud, worn out after four eventful seasons at Manchester City where he infamously refused to warm up during a Champions League match at Bayern Munich.

He was also shunned by then Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella, who never once selected him during three years in charge amid speculation that he was considered too much of a disruptive influence.

Having missed out on last year's World Cup in Brazil, Tevez has since been recalled by Sabella's successor Gerardo Martino.

Tevez reiterated after the match that he felt valued by his teammates and coach Allegri.

"My teammates have shown to me that I'm a leader and I try to do the best I can," he told television reporters. "I feel important and that helps me play better."

We called our senior pastor and we came to my room and the snake was still there.

We prayed with much faith and finally we ended our prayers, what we saw was a woman lying in the
bed shiverin, she finally confessed that I disturb them with my prayers at night so they decide to end
my life but failed.

South African women married to Nigerian men have narrated the discrimination they face for marrying men outside their country. Seeing the disaffection their kinsmen show them after finding love in the hands of Nigerian men, the women decided to form an association, the United Nigerian Wives in South Africa (UNWISA) club about two years ago where they give support and succor to each other.

42 year old Lindwela Uche who serves as the chairwoman of the group told AFP that they saw the xenophobic attacks coming and alerted their husbands but they did not take their warning seriously "We saw this thing coming and that’s why we formed this association. If only they (the authorities) had listened to us… they would have known that there’s a fire burning slowly and they would have seen how to tackle it.”she said. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and repent. – Revelation 3:19.
Much of the church today is living a lie. Many of you have been told continuously that you are saved and headed for heaven. Nothing could be farther from the truth. Many of you are heading directly to hell. The systemised lying that is going on in the church has deceived the pastors and the people alike. It is a case of the blind leading the blind. You all need to pray – fervently because many of you are “lost”. No matter what you call me, no matter how you view this issue, no matter what position you have, no matter what church you attend, you have to admit that something is wrong with the church.

Below are eight facts why the church is leading you straight to hell:

1. There is almost no evidence whatsoever that the early church had their “services” on a Sunday. They gathered together ‘from house to house’ virtually every day! People did not dress up and “go to church.” There were no denominations or separate groups with different ‘labels.’ They lived their lives together – And the apostles in Jerusalem preached everyday at a huge open-air gathering, not “hidden away” inside four walls. Church buildings do not exist in the Bible. They were invented around 200-300 AD, when the church was in serious decline. Church buildings are anti-New Testament, and they bring with them a host of problems and traditions. It was when the church fell into the hands of Rome that this concept of the “cathedral” took over. And today, we are still spending millions building these beautiful monuments while the worshippers are starving.

2. The words “prosper” or ‘prosperity’ were NEVER used by Jesus at all – and only mentioned a few times in the entire New Testament. Yet our greedy pastors have built kingdoms upon them. The words – “sell what you have and give to the poor” and “deceitfulness of riches” and “you cannot serve God and mammon” and “woe to you that are rich” were DEFINITELY used by Jesus and the apostles, but you don’t hear them preached by your pastors, do you?

3. Tithing is not a New Testament practice at all. And it is being shamefully abused by today’s preachers. In the Old Testament, tithing was only applicable to Jews and to the land of Israel and that was at a time when a great number of them lived in Babylon, Ammon, Moab, Egypt and Syria. As a result of that, the land they occupied became tithe-able lands. Tithes were not acceptable from Gentiles’ lands. So my brothers and sisters, you need to ask your pastor why he is collecting tithes here in Nigeria. Also, the only people authorised to receive tithes were the Levites – (Hebrews 7:5). If your pastor is collecting tithe from you, ask him if he’s from the tribe of Levi. Even Jesus who was a Jew couldn’t collect tithes because he wasn’t from the tribe of Levi but from that of Judah. And if your pastor insists that being a worker in the lord’s vineyard qualifies him as a Levite, please remind him that Levites had no land and did not own properties.

4. The Jesus of today’s church is a “Father Christmas,” a Jesus who exists mainly for our own “happiness;” a Father Christmas who wants to rain down continual blessings upon us; a Jesus of grace and mercy without judgement, righteousness or truth. Our gross misrepresentation of who Jesus really is, is one of the most serious offences of today’s church. We worship a “plastic” Jesus – one that we have painted in our own image. What an offence to God.

5. What we have today are churches that are so loose that they excuse any sin or misconduct, including homosexuality and adultery. Aren’t we supposed to accept only the truth of God’s word? But instead, we have opted for a modern church that is socially based, smooth and sophisticated, and presented like a Nollywood movie with men and women of ogboni fraternity dressed in their occultic regalia occupying special seats during services. Something is wrong!

6. What happened to the strong calls for repentance that brought thousands down to the altar to repent and ask Jesus Christ to save their souls? This is the litmus test for Christianity; it is the essence of the Cross; it is the great commission that Jesus commanded us with. If your church is not winning souls, then it is like a barren woman, and it is a shame. Something is wrong!

7. What happened to the outpouring of the Holy Ghost? Do we even know what it means anymore to feel the presence of the Spirit of God descend on a service and fill up the room with holiness? Or we just love that party atmosphere and excitement when the choir plays a boogie-down song? Or we love to scream “ride on pastor” in the excitement we get when some charismatic preacher works the crowd? It’s been so long we’ve felt the presence of the Holy Spirit that we don’t know what it is anymore. Something is definitely wrong!

Soccer legend John Fashanu has accused his wife Abigail Igwe (Adaeze Yobo's mother) of trying to kill him – after she allegedly found him bedding two women at the same time. The retired former Wimbledon and England striker said estranged Abigail Onyekwelu went for him with a knife during a furious row at their home.

Fashanu, also a former Gladiators host, is now at the centre of a bitter divorce battle with Abigail – and insists she cheated on him with a woman. She denies his claims and the ­astonishing battle – which includes the ­accusation that he bedded their maid – is to be played out in the high court in Abuja, Nigeria.

Furious Abigail, 48, said last night: “Good riddance to bad rubbish! I’ve left him and washed my hands.”

But Fashanu, 52 – dubbed Fash the Bash for his hardman reputation in Wimbledon’s famous “Crazy Gang” – hit back with an extraordinary series of allegations.
He said he had to call in police to protect him from knife-wielding Abigail and was devastated to find her in bed with another woman.

He also alleged that she stole thousands of pounds in cash from their marital home.
Speaking exclusively to the Sunday People the star – who now presents the Nigerian version of TV’s Deal or No Deal – said: “She attempted to use knives on me. It was terrifying.

“My life was at stake, there’s no two ways about that.

“Even if you did think I was sleeping with the maid, or even if you thought I was sleeping with Miss Nigeria, don’t kill me! Just leave me and go. The ­violence was just too much.”

6ft 2in Fashanu added: “My life was at risk and I didn’t want it to happen again. That’s why I filed for divorce.”

He denied his wife’s claim to have discovered him in bed with two other women – one of them their maid.

“I’ve been very fortunate to date some of the most beautiful women in the world,” Fash insisted. “I certainly don’t have to sleep with my cleaner!

“This is me, John Fashanu, you’re talking to. It’s absolute nonsense. If she wants to make up that ­story, at least let her say it’s Beyoncé or someone.

Many of us heaved out huge collections of VHS tapes, assuming they would be worth nothing once DVD took over.

If you did so, look away now.

Old VHS tapes can now be worth up to £1,000 each, with a thriving collectors’ market buying up unique films - with up to 50% of films on VHS never having seen release on DVD.

Dale Lloyd of Midlands VHS firm Viva VHS told the Telegraph, ‘It's not just the films. A lot of the trailers that play beforehand are extremely sought after and could be lost forever if not preserved.’

Lloyd screens selections of old, lost trailers at cinema festivals - and rents classic films.

‘’Fans of Richard Linklater can only own the brilliant SubUrbia on VHS. The same goes for Edgar Wright and his debut feature, A Fistful of Fingers.

Lloyd says that VHS collecting is still in its infancy - but some obscure films, especially horror titles, can already fetch enormous sums.

A British soccer player is without a team today after he was caught having sex with a willing female fan during a soccer match.

Jay Hart was a member of English semi-pro soccer team Clitheroe — until a video of him engaging in coitus with a fan in the opposing team’s dugout went viral.

It just so happens that the match was advertised as “ladies day” in appreciation of the team’s many faithful female fans.

With so many hot babes catching his eye in the stands, Hart, who has a girlfriend, couldn’t control his carnal urges.

UK, China, Australia and Hong Kong have issued a travel warning to their citizens against travelling to South Africa in the wake of the xenophobic attacks in that country.

Eye Witness News reports that the Australian High Commission on their website informs travellers of the recent increase in attacks on foreign nationals in the two provinces.

The warnings were reportedly issues from 17th April.

It urges travellers urges exercise a "high degree of caution" in the country due to the high level of serious crime, withKwaMashu and Umlazi specifically highlighted as the trouble areas.

It goes on to warn that should travellers find themselves in South Africa, they're targeted victims moreso as bystanders have been killed in these attacks.

A judge in California, USA, M. Marc Kelly, is in the center of the storm as he has been getting verbal attacks from all and sundry for putting the blame on a 3-year-old girl who was raped by a 20-year-old man, Kevin Jonas Jojano, on the toddler for walking into the suspects' home.

According to Judge Kelly, Rojano of Orange County, California, did not intend to hurt the girl when he raped her.

Apart from the remark which has been seen as the dumbest thing any judge could ever make in a rape case, Kelly sentenced Rojano to a mere 10 years in prison as against the mandatory sentence which requires 25-year to life in prison.

Instead, Rojano was found guilty of sodomizing the 3-year-old girl in his garage.

According to the prosectors in the case, Rojano was playing video games in the garage of his home in Santa Ana, when the victim walked in. Rojano said that he became sexually aroused by the child and he sexually assault her.

During the attack, the girl's mother was looking for the child. Rojano placed his hand on the child’s mouth so that she does not respond to her mother.

The child later complained of pain, and her mother called police when she found injuries consistent with sexual assault.

The Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu has reportedly told Igbos in the state to either vote for All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode or prepare to perish in the Lagoon.

The monarch is said to have made the statement on Sunday, April 5, during a meeting with Igbo leaders and monarchs in his palace.

“On Saturday, if any one of you goes against Ambode who I picked, that is your end. If it doesn’t happen within seven days, just know that I am a bastard and it’s not my father who gave birth to me,” the Oba reportedly said.

“By the grace of God, I am the owner of Lagos for the time being. This is an undivided chair. The palace belongs to the dead and those coming in the future. On Saturdayick , if anyone of you, I swear in the name of God, goes against my wish that Ambode will be the next governor of Lagos state, the person is going to die inside this water,” he added.

“For the Igbos and others in Lagos, they should go where the Oba of Lagos heads to. When they were coming to the state, they didn’t come with all their houses. But now they have properties in the state. So they must do my bidding. And that is the bidding of the ancestors of Lagos and God.I am not ready to beg you. Nobody knew how I picked Ambode. I am not begging anybody, but what you people cannot do in Onitsha, Aba or anywhere you cannot do it here. If you do what I want, Lagos will continue to be prosperous for you, if you go against my wish, you will perish in the water,” the monarch said.

It was shock and pandemonium in Ifosan area of Ilesa in Osun State when a pregnant woman was delivered of a baby with horn-like appendages on his forehead where the eyes are supposed to be.

The deformed baby which brought fear in the community was born on Friday March 26, 2015, to a 25-year-old woman who had been without a fruit of the womb after three years of marriage.

According to the Tribune Newspaper, what would have been a moment of joy for the family of the woman turned out to be an item of monstrosity and the people of the community have been consulting different deities to stem what they see as an abomination.

The recent visit of First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan to Enugu has left a big scar on Nollywood. This is because the police in Enugu are currently looking for ways to settle the bitter feud that engulfed the artistes’ community in the state over how an alleged First Lady’s largesse would be shared among top actors who attended her rally.According to the Sun

This feud has seemingly put one group known as Nollywood Apostles against other stakeholders in Enugu State led by Patience Ozo­kwor popularly known as Mama G, making it very difficult for the center to hold.As at last Thursday, some of Nollywood’s big wigs involved were still angry and had refused to show up at the Police Area Com­mand, Abakpa Nike, Enugu where the case was domiciled.

The Area Commander had arranged for them to settle the matter amicably.

Checks reveal that Nollywood Apostles comprising some of the best faces in the movie industry including Steve Ajebo Eboh, Charles Awurum, Emeka Enyiocha, Bene­dict Johnson, Chinwe Owoh, and Ngozi Ezeonu among others had been featuring at several PDP campaign rallies including the one that brought Dame Jonathan to Enugu.

According to a source, trouble started after the departure of the First Lady when facilitators of the rally, Patience Ozokwor and Chinyere Wilfred were on stage giving the vote of thanks.

An aide to Dame Jona­than had allegedly dropped a parcel contain­ing N3 million into the hands of one of theactors, which he quickly cornered with the con­nivance of his fellow ‘Apos­tles’. But the cookies crumbled when the aide called Mama G aside and intimated her of the monetary gift and to whom it was handed.

“The real drama started when the actor who collected the parcel was about to zoom out of the venue in his car. Mama G re-enacted her screen roles for real. In her view, the money was meant for all the stakehold­ers who graced the rally and not only for the Nollywood Apostles. Mama G stood in the way of the car, yelling and ask­ing to be crushed just as she sent someone to call the police. She didn’t mind being called witch, ashawoand all sorts of unprint­able names. She blocked the car until the police came and took all the parties to the station,” a source says.

INEC has released results of the Presidential election in 10 local governments in Ogun State. As at 2:pm on Sunday March 29th in Abeokuta, APC won seven with wide margin while PDP won the remaining three local government areas.

The local government areas released so far include Obafemi-Owode, Abeokuta North, Odogboolu, Odeda, Imeko-Afon, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Remo-North, Ewekoro, and Ijebu North-East. See details after the cut...

Jasmiyah and Tasimyah Whitehead were 16 when they stabbed their mother, Jarmecca, 34, to death. They stabbed her so violently and repeatedly that they severed her spinal cord.

The twins attacked their mother after getting into an argument on January 13, 2010, at their home in Conyers, Georgia before school. They dragged her injured body to the bathtub and watched her die slowly, before setting out to school.

The twins recounted the events that day up to the mother. They related how it had begun as an argument when it turned violent.

Jasmiyah broke a pot over her mother's head while Tasmiyah, in the chaos, stabbed her mother, with Jasmiyah strangling her with a ribbon.

The twins then carried their mother and submerged her in a bathtub filled with water.

eline Dion has announced she is returning to the Las Vegas stage in August after one of the toughest years of her life.

The 46-year-old diva, opened up to ABC News'Deborah Roberts about taking time off to care for her husband and manager René Angélil, who is suffering from throat cancer.

Dion told Roberts, "He can’t eat so I feed him. He’s got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day."

The singer has been married to 73-year-old Angélil for 21 years sharing three young sons together. Dion admitted that right now, her family is "taking life one day at a time. [But] we are choosing to live."

The singer took an indefinite leave of absence from her Vegas residency to care for her husband after his second cancer diagnosis last year.
