have to vanish for the weekend, people. will rebound next week with a couple more xter drafts n the finals on the robe. i expect the ref pix for the huts will have been nailed by then, n prob'ly the head modeled. @ neikid kool. do wot u gotta. good luck. we will probably have 2 versions of the head modeled, a low poly version for full camera shots n a higher res version for close-ups 4 xpressions/speech. easy on the vertices bro. @ jemit ? u @ later guys |
guys. have a mad day n maynt get back online til nite time. so here are the planes for the demi face. (if its been adopted) minor tweaking to the image planes may be necessary {tho unlikely} guys remember, low on poly count in my projects, we usually limit the modeller to a maximum number of polys per xter,say, 200 for the face. how do we proceed here? @ resichild quite right. i was mixing both xters. i was actually thinking abt the cave creature when i drafted that xter. my bad. the question now is- does he fly for a demigod? can post another suggestion unless we r ok with him. sorry for holding up the process.

@ neikid hold ya horses, pal. lol the final draft hasnt quite emerged yet. i know abt the 2 day policy on decisions, but getting the xters right is pretty important. lets get all the critical feeedback, then i can post a final amended draft. u can let fly at it after its been adopted. dat ok? we r still fine tuning the robe as to style etc. guys, are we okay on the face. i can forward that to neikid if its been okayed. opinions? |
hmm, here goes @ AdamuW the fur thingy would be a jpg texture with the fur bump mapped, wasnt thinking of using actual fur fx- unless for a few close up shots (if we so decide)- that would eliminate/reduce the rendering challenge. like xothermik would say, there are cheats around every challenge. if we use the robe, i think it would also have to move fluidly. rememba we are also looking at the 'wow factor' for the project. skillful camera manipulation can ease the challenges we may face here. we may even have the demigod disrobe prior to the fight. the picture of an intense physical combat with a robed assailant dont quite cut it for me- thats just me, mind. @ resichild also, i didnt get the feeling that he was gonna be teleporting from the script u sent. pls clarify @ gamine we can animate anything. allay that concern. i think most cave dwellers develop fur,tho- an ecological thing. anyway, wat say ye all on that? the attached are rough pencils to channel the 'robe discussion' and help determine style or whether to scratch it altogether. some creative designers can get on costume detail, we need help there! again, this is not an art class. good job all round with the feedback, thanx folks.

er guys, i need specifics, like, increase his limbs, reduce his biceps, change his attire to this, and u post a sketch or suggestion. failing a direct brief from an art director, specific opinions are all i can go on. i expect the xter to morph into something better from ya comments. @ resichild i read both wot u like n ur criticism, n it didnt define a clear course of action to me. specifics, people! thanx |

concept art for demigods face. comments? will upload full body 2mrw. will post 2 versions- a fully robed and an unrobed @ resichild i know ur xter sheet describes him as fully robed, but simulating and solving for cloth in a full fight may take a bit. i leave it up to the crew to decide tho.

@ neikid dont u have image planes for ur model? thats what u can post for approval. @ zpixel appreciate ur drive- hope it translates to output. we have a cast/description of the xters (nice job, resichild), next task is to develop them. that means creating concept art, then modeling. was wondering the most effective way to achieve that with uniform output. ideas? am in transit at the moment but should settle down for some sketches later today. will prolly upload tomorrow. |
luck? nah! wrong word. if my assignment is to submit sketches, i WILL submit sketches! i think a proper re/structuring is in order tho. i suggest publishing the actual workforce including designations/departments, and assigning specific tasks to each member with deadlines on delivery. the general consensus will be- deliver or quit! we need to upload output soon. else, i fear we will be shuffling around for a long while. sojioguns question on deadlines is an important one. @ all. what say ye about the 'deliver or drop out' policy? we need to get serious guys! |
@ resichild welcome back, i think.lol no sentiments tho- id hit u hard if u default the process. a call/txt informing me/us on ur status would have sufficed. cant blindly have ur back when i am in the dark myself, that kind of trust is built with time/info. didnt quit on u tho, but there are lessons learnt all round. u, not i- are the life blood of this project. on a personal note, hang in there. u will surmount ur challenges! @ neikid dude, u have ur own way of xpressing and i have mine. if u reread the threads from the beginning, u may change ur mind on whether i believed in the whole thing or not. i contributed to the damn thing, and i NEVER waste my time. 'quick?' resichilds last post was on the 17th of October. in project terms, thats an eternity to be silent and incommunicado with ur crew! i am trying to get resichild to administer shock therapy or wateva to this kid. u better stand corrected! @ resichild the only excuse u may have is that u r stranded in that demigods cave without an internet connection! nothing else flies. if ur incapacitated, get someone to post ur status- ur chaps deserve some info, dont they? |

@ RESICHILD good job on the updated draft- i have just a few minor suggestions on the narrative. will mail my suggested alterations to u. swamped at the moment but will hop on the work trail once i clear my desk. good going! thot there was a 2d chap on board ur team. give him a definite task 2 deliver. do the same with ur other dept. workers true, this isnt a 'paying' project in the short term; but anyone who lacks the motivation/drive to deliver on target(s) at this stage is better off NOT on ur team! create a work schedule based on ur 'staff' and apportion tasks with deadlines. anyone who defaults on output without a good reason is OUT! u have to balance goodwill with discipline- finally, its in anyones interest to participate in this project. in fact, one might even call it a privilege. its okay to end up with 2 dedicated chaps than 10 flakes. just my thots |
personally i think the environment doesnt play a 'major' role in the story, other than establishing the era. any of the pix can work, if we tie in the characters and make them consistent with whateva style we employ. good work man. |

@RESICHILD lol. welcome to granite wall #1 overcoming the inertia stage in a project is usually the tuffest challenge. hang in bro. some guys have ur back. this stage may be slow, but thats wot guarantees success- doing ur homework well! i suggest u draft a timeline for achieving certain project milestones, lets all review/adopt it and then we can work productively. kudos on resilience, browsing on ya phone just 2 keep the thread alive! by the end of the project we will upgrade u from RESI-CHILD to RESI-MAN! lol |
@RESICHILD kool. sure i can do the sketches, but i would feel better if we can decide from a wider sample base. i was actually just showcasing style, not necessary submitting a xter. we need more input, people! also, u need to submit a xter profile outlining/describing the xter, so we can design/understand clothing style, props, physique etc. u actually need to outline ur entire cast, so we can all take on developing different xters. i also feel, if the concept art is a collective contribution, modeling etc. will be a lot easier- cos its better to model a xter u helped conceptualize. if the voluntary submission method doesnt work, then maybe the development of a specific xter can be assigned to each team member as a task, with a deadline for submission. that way, everyone inputs. just thots, but at this stage, we should be flowing a lot more ideas than we are currently. @JEMIT we dont have to be historically accurate, just creative and consistent. like RESICHILD suggests, if u cant come up with anything original, then post what ref pix u have, n lets all decide. we r creating our world, so we decide the rules. good work people! |
guys, this is an animation project not an art exhibition. we all must have at least some basic artistic background/skills. the task is just to convey ur ideas on paper, no matter how crude the sketch looks. @JEMIT wot do u mean by 'no luck', no luck as in u cant find ref pix online? dude, u have a village and u have a creative mind- thats all u need.c'mon post some drafts. guys, Stephen Spielberg cant draw to save his life but he still gets his ideas across in chicken scrawl. responses people, or this project is dead in the water!! |
the rough sketch is a proposal for art style. its a balance between 'caricature' and 'realistic'- employing simplified,exaggerated features. if its considered, i could do cleaner close up views. @ RESICHILD 'tsup bro? u working on the script/screenplay? there this dude on this site, Jydekris i think- share ur project idea with him, he's pretty good with 2d art. he may even have a couple of ready made sketches he can modify, i think he also messes with 3d. might be a good idea to feel him out. also, i expect not everyone may see ur larger picture/vision, so if the price of perfection is employing certain skills we need to 'pay' for, lets also explore that option. just suggestions. what say ye all?
