nice, you could tweak the straps individually to randomise their appearance, they currently look obviously duplicated.

Religion / Re: What if Hell, Jesus and God Never Existed, will you regret being a Christian? by OKX(m): 9:15am On May 07, 2017
The word Christian means followers of Christ, so if u removed Christ then the Christian experience wouldn't exist.

So d logic of the question is flawed.

If on the other hand, u mean, if Jesus lied about everything and God isn't as portrayed and d Bible is a lie....then that's a different question.

The Christian experience is not a blind journey, waiting for confirmation of ur beliefs at the end of life's trip.

If u have built a relationship with the Holy Spirit, then his existence and the truth of the Bible and contents is revealed and verified to you on daily basis. U know the certainty of ur beliefs here, while u live.

So again, the nature of Christianity makes any question on its authenticity irrelavant., cos it is verifiable in ur life unless one doesn't really understand what being Christian means, which sadly, most of us dont.

Nice so far.
Waiting to see d final render.

Can't contribute much tho, as there's no concept art, so don't know where ur headed.
I would have slightly shortened the arms, but again, that might be the deliberate look u r gunning for.

Following tho...good start!

@chipsy
nice!
I would spend a night there gladly.
the only critique i could have, is that the lighting could still be worked on, to be a bit more believable as coming from the light sources in your scene.

currently it looks to me like the scene is evenly lit by an ambient source and you just have lights placed in the scene for show, unless that was the intended effect.

i would also stick to the same camera lens used in the first two shots, as opposed to the last two. the wide angle distorts your textures, again, unless that was a desired effect.

real nice! good job!

Well, since u r not a novice and u know d basics of navigating d software u use, what u really need is to read and study on ur own, and just observe how other artists employ the principles of what u have read n studied in their work.

Getting one artist to tutor u at this stage may b limiting u to just what he knows or his opinions. Have a broader knowledge base first, then see how ur tutor implements those principles. My tots.

YouTube still trumps everyone for me...lol.

Goodluck.

U didn't give a fixed format for rating and d poster has given his views.

Its his opinion and u asked for it. Not all reviews will be to ur liking or satisfaction.

Ur response is inappropriate, in my opinion, and could very well discourage ppl who may have genuine points to make.

It's one thing to get people to understand how to review but a different thing entirely to accept the contents of d review.

Not everyone will be diplomatic in their delivery. It is up to u to sieve through and take the relevant points and ignore d jabs. Ur dealing with d mixed public.

Cheers n goodluck.

How well does it stand apart from other logos?

Is it unique and memorable — especially when compared to your competition?

Is your logo well-crafted?
Does it employ great symbology and excellent/appropriate typography?

Are the visual details of layout, color harmony, and illustration executed at the highest levels?

Does your logo scale well and reproduce effectively on a variety of platforms?

How well does your logo echo the brand story?
Does it communicate an appropriate metaphor?

Is it correctly aimed at the people and audiences who will draw the most meaning from it?

How well can your logo be used?

The questions above are culled from various articles online, but form a basis for rating a logo design.

The same logo design rendered in pink may look terrible, but brilliant in black.

'go and improve' or ' work harder' doesn't help d artist know what to focus on improving, unless the person advising is just a layman giving his overall impression.

I could rate as follows out of 10:
Concept; 4
Uniqueness: 3
Color Theme: 2
Typography: 3
Layout and Design: 2 etc.

That's more helpful to d artist.

There are actually both scripts and sites that autorig various model types (bipeds and quadrupeds), and the criteria u have to follow are largely simple.

U can explore Adobe's mixamo.
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: My Cabinet Of 3D Curiosities by OKX(m): 9:33am On Apr 26, 2017
Kool. Whatever inspires u to model is OK as long as u overcome new challenges in d process.

I would however try to have a focus or larger goal to the process, such as creating different categories of models that I could also upload to specific sites, both for paid downloads and to increase ur online digital rep.

U never know who's monitoring out there.

U didn't give urself any money cos u had none. D money is part of wot u originally borrowed, in the equation/explanation above that's the change/unspent.

When u returned 2k and still had 1k, it reduced wot u were liable for to 99k, not 100k (since u still had 1k)
The riddle plays with words, but mathematically it checks out, cos with ur 1k u have to account for just 99k which is d 2k u gave ur folks plus the 97k u spent on d bag.
Lol

There's no missing 1k. U can't add ur assets and liabilities in d same side and still call them liabilities.
U borrowed 100k, returned 2k making ur debt 98k, u spent 97k leaving u with an balance of 1k totaling 98k worth of assets.
Equation balanced.

A mathematical representation would be:

49(owed mum) + 49(owed dad) = 97(spent on bag) + 1(change)
OR
100(borrowed) - 1(unspent) = 97(spent on bag) + 1(spent/returned to mum) + 1(spent/returned to dad)

Basically assets=liabilities, balances out.

Peace bro.
I believe we understand each other n that's good enough for me.

For d record tho, a rating is not asking for approval. It's just an objective assessment of a job and is actually d best way to improve....of course depending on d value u place on ur raters opinion.

Everyone's work is rated, ultimately by d client- and if he rates it high enough, u have a satisfied customer. Since those were for fictitious clients, we became the raters or pretend clients.

It's not an argument really, but u didn't come across as supportive, to me, at least.

But I believe u have cleared ur intentions.

Cheers.

@erad
There is really nothing constructive or tangible for the artist to take away from ur responses to help him become a better designer as u put it.

I do agree that the logos could do with improvement (as could your work or mine, or all of us) if u point out specific areas, it would help the artist at least understand ur point...not a blanket condemnation that comes across as discouraging. My thots.

@grand
A logo is more than just a visual element. Even if it's for a fictitious company, if u share the qualities of the fictitious brands and what u wished to capture, then I can have a basis for rating.

For example, the Kimberly Lawyers colour scheme doesn't speak of a law firm to me, but it is possible that it belongs to a woman whose favourite color is pink. Why the 3-pointed ninja-like shuriken image? Is it owned by three major partners? Is it a Japanese outfit?etc D design elements should be interpretative or symbolic. So more details would help me.

Pending clarification, the first image is merely an icon, easily downloadable and definitely not unique.

For d Kimberly design, personally I would either concentrate on either using the typeface as the logo OR creating an image as the logo and using a clear simple typeface for company name, NOT both, especially for a law firm. I would also choose a formal font to convey an official, legal feeling.

Generally, I would also ask myself if there is a single standalone element that could be used to represent the brand I am selling, and build my design around that. Simplicity rules! My thots.

I hear u...lol

U talk of collaboration.n possibly taking a bit of hollywood...well, I believe that pigs will eventually evolve to fly....so sure, we will...lol

U know d average school in developed countries teach animation as part of their regular curriculum for art classes like we learn maths n English here.

Imagine teaching ur 12yr old son d basics, and let him practice til his young adulthood. These r d artists we have to compete with in d talent market.

Truth is, do an online search of these kids school projects n u will b humbled. Most of us will find it difficult to get an internship (unpaid) position in any good studio out there, myself included.

And d problem isn't really about ability, but method.
We lack d discipline to study n practice for as long as it takes. We muddle thru a character with tons of flaws, slap on mocap or hideous animation, do a machine intensive render that ignores all d principles of composition and happily post it online alongside a phone number advertising trainings.

Naturally, d uninformed throw some impressed comments and mediocrity is celebrated n recycled.
Dare to express a contrary opinion and u have fired d first shot in an ego-war.

So until we drop our egos, drop d hating, learn d basics n practise hard n long....it will be a cold day in hell before Hollywood comes knocking.

We need to listen more, be less defensive, more encouraging and less exploitative of newbies and kill dis habit of unrealistic tutoring fees when there r gaping flaws in our work still.

Was exposed to a studio where for six weeks all u r animating is various objects hitting d ground. In that period u learn a lot about weights n how it conveys volume.....building on that, u animate shapes giving them character by their movements alone. That takes another six weeks.

Not saying it must take that long, but therein lies d difference between the trailblazers and d perpetual followers.

But like I said...pigs will fly one day, so.....

I suggest u open a dedicated thread on starting animation and we will meet u there.

The thread topic will also draw the wider audience of animators, so u will get more feedback.

Let's allow this thread to its purpose.

I hope we r not derailing ur thread.

@tiri
Look at it like learning to drive.
Even if u don't intend to be a mechanic, electrician, panel beater or vulcaniser, the more u know about those fields as concerns ur car...the more efficient u will be as a driver.

It doesn't mean that the lady next door who doesn't know jack about what's under the hood, can't get d car to move, or arrive at d same destination as you.

But because of ur deeper knowledge, u offer a superior experience.

Sometimes the models u are given may not quite perform as u wish, and u may have to tweak a few settings or create a few custom settings on d rig.

Even when one specialises, u still need to have d general knowledge as a base to build on.
But u don't have to go in depth, just enough to understand what's going on.
I don't particularly enjoy modeling and would rather animate, but unless u find urself in a highly professional production pipeline, you will most times need to rig or fine tune the rig for d model u r given based on certain motions.

Most times it is just to increase efficiency and production value, as well as the marketability of d artist.
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: My Cabinet Of 3D Curiosities by OKX(m): 7:08pm On Apr 04, 2017
@akinolaa
If u don't mind me adding, even in animating, there are stages of growth. It starts with the basics, and that is essentially mastering timing and spacing.

The challenge with software like iclone is oversimplification, and heavy reliance on presets.

While I encourage artists to utilise whatever tool they are comfortable with, if u truly want to master character animation, then u need to separate it from all the other areas, leave effects for now, leave camera movement, forget render quality or great sound effects.

Animate to a static camera, preferably two static cameras and ensure your animation is solid from all views.

Whether it's stylised or realistic animation, there are still fundamental rules to follow. Master those, and don't be in a hurry to showcase your finished movie 'masterpiece'.

Submit ur work to sites like youanimator.com and visit the 11secondclub.com regularly to have ur work dissected and critiqued by industry experts.

We need to move from just moving characters to bringing them alive, with thought and emotion. That's what's lacking in most of our work.

If u can, stay away from motion capture in any form, for now.

Good luck and good start so far.

lol @ driver (with car)

so what exactly does this your entertainment company have exactly?
experience and a portfolio is an advantage? not a requirement?

so you will hire an inexperienced driver? or an editor without a portfolio?
please review this post, cos it doesn't portray your firm in a professional light at all.
Art, Graphics & Video / Re: Who Can Teach Me by OKX(m): 5:20pm On Mar 19, 2017
@monfortune

You have outlined a lot of fields and each one is pretty extensive.

It's unlikely that you will find a single tutor versed in ALL those fields, so unless you have an enormous budget, I would suggest you ease into it gradually.

Maybe start with graphic design, as you progress, you will discover your areas of passion- that, will guide you on what to learn and the order to follow in your quest for knowledge.

As you thoroughly master one field, you may find your passion taking you in a direction you haven't even discovered yet.

Good luck bro!

would have loved if some of the passion reflected in his expression and features a bit more, (considering the beating he took)

great job tho.
with ur permission i would like to play with the above image a bit, maybe, add a stream of blood from the thorns and redden his eyes a bit.

generally stress/grunge up his skin a bit more, it would be best if done in the textures tho.
