I got to the embassy 6:00am.we were asked to arrange gate pass (ds 160, passport photo, sevis receipt, I20 and international passport).
We started checking in by 6:45,did biometrics and all by 7:02 I was done. We waited for another 20 mins for the VOs to arrive and settle.
I was the 3rd person on queue. I was interviewed by the d guy on windows7 ,very nice young man. Here's my transcript

Vo:Good morning,how are you today?
Me:very well, good morning

Vo:pass me your documents
I passed my passport n i20

Vo:So how did u hear about this school?
Me:It was a recommended to me by a senior colleague at work.

Vo:What did your colleague say about this school and y did he recommend this school?
Me: my colleague graduated from this school and he told me about the MBA faculty members and how they give hands on learning experience to MBA students.

Vo: Is this why you choose the school.
Me: He to,d me about the serene environment where I can (VO cuts in)

VO:what do you mean by serene environment
Me: I like a quiet place where I can concentrate and study without distractions and he assured me that with the environment at STSU I can get maximum concentration and he (I started shuttering and blinking and doing hand gestures lol, cuz started thinking I gave wrong answers)
He stared for like 3 seconds and I used that to gain confidence again and said;
I'm really interested in the business outreach program organized by the herbeger business school and Central Minnesota small business development center where professionals from IF initiative foundation and Benton county community development center come together and give training and career advice to MBA students frm STSU.They give career advice on tax planning, record keeping, accounting analytics and literacy,(VO cut in).

Vo:What did you study in your undergraduate
Me:Accountancy

Vo:What have you been doing since your graduation?
Me: I did my one year compulsory NYSC and the gain d employment at access bank Plc as a customer contact officer.
Vo.:what courses will you b taking?

Me: MBA ignite (MBA601), organizational behavior (MBA612), operations management (MBA616)' Global legal and ethical environment of buss(at this point I started shuttering cuz I had forgotten other courses)

Luckily he jus brought out the white paper n said pick up your passport at this location.
I smiled and said thank you.
I didn't even wait for him to respond,I jus ran out.
No documents was asked, not even my sevis fee receipt.
When I was leaving the house this morning. I asked God to go before me.
Advice to upcoming applicants,
Read previous transcripts ,peruse the schools website for info on ur course of study n department cheesy grin and pray for Grace
My story is a definition of grace , I shuttered, stammered ,blinked and yet I got the visa.
If God be for you , no VO can be against you. grin grin grin
Pls am going to ST clouds pussysandie ,can I pm u?

Congratulations on your admission to St.Cloud. You shouldnt be worried about the 36months duration printed on the I-20. My I-20 showed same and I was worried but like members earlier said, its just an extra time-length incase of unforseen circumstances. MS programs are usually 24months so it all depends on you. Btw, I know someone going to St.Cloud too by August. he got his I20 this week. Did you get the $3000 scholarship certificate too? He got that and I think they automatically give international students. I'm also heading to MN. Goodluck in your interview
Thank you. Congratulations to you too .I didn't get the scholarship because MBA students are excluded from the International students scholarship. Your friend going to ST clouds is he on this forum?

If it isn't our resident troll, I can recognise your simple one dimensional answers to honestly asked questions from space... What you are doing here I don't even understand sef @olabimpesparkle Don't rock the boat your school has given you quality explanation, The duration written on your I-20 is cannon, go with that... Even if the duration of your program is 200 months you will be issued a 2 yr Visa and be stamped in D/S (Duration of your F1 status) at the POE
Thank you.

This is common so i am sure the VO is not seeing this for the first time. If u are very worried have d graduate coordinator send you something in writing (an explanation ) and u print it off and take it to the interview. ... however some schools have 36 months even though the program is 24months. I am very sure its not a problem on ur end . U are not the one who put the 36 on the i20 so why is it ur job to explain it. Ur own is to explain why u picked that school and your long term goals after it.

On your ds 160 put date to correspond with your i20 . ....it wont even matter much because master visa is 2 years anyway so the visa stamp wont be 3 years or 36 months anyways .

If your course work not completed before the F1 2 years visa end date, you can still continue attending school and continue course work. You don’t need visa renewal or visa stamping as long as you maintain Full time student status at the university.

If you still worried then call the embassy .[/
Thank you very much for this.Much appreciated
Have you ever considered telling the TRUTH!

Why is your first thought or reaction to make up a story and lie to the visa officer?
You have an explanation in writing from your school, present that!
You stand more chance of a rejection by lying than by telling the truth. Visa officers are trained to look out for liars.[/quote

Why are you quick to judge that I intend to lie to the VO? I do not intend to lie to the VO and that is why am here asking questions.
Thank you for responding.

Good day everyone, please I just got admission an MBA to St Clouds state university and I got my I20 but on my I20, the program length says 36 months but on the school website MBA should be completed in 16 months. When I mailed the graduate cordinator she said they normally put 36 months for MBA in case I'd like to differ some courses or Incase I decide not to take some courses at a point in time. All in all she said the program length on the I20 is giving me enough time to finish my MBA course in case of unforeseen circumstances, even though I intend to finish the program in 16months.
My problem now is how do I explain to the VO that I'll be doing MBA for 3years? It's usually 2 years or less and I don't know if I am to put 16 months or 36 months on my DS 160.
Can someone please advice me . Your response would be appreciated.

Hope you are aware that schools with MBA programs which do not respond GMAT are not exactly good schools/programs and in many cases the MBA is not worth the paper it is written on?

Worse is some of these programs charge very high prices compared to what is offered.

If you are serious about earning an MBA you should be ready to sit GMAT.
Thank u,I guess I'll have to write the GMAT .pls can u give advice or tips on other materials to assist me in preparing for the GMAT.i have been using Kaplan gmat and it's not explicit enough (especially the quant section)

Do you have work experience? Most schools require that you write GMAT or you have work experience. In my case, I have the latter which was stated as a requirement. Although I wrote GRE for embassy sake.
. Apart from 6months IT and 1year Nysc,I have no other work experience. If I have to take the GMAT can u please give me an advice on a self study plan,I have been using Kaplan GMAT and it's not explicit enough.

Hello everyone, please i need anyone to suggest schools that dont require a GMAT for their MBA admissions. And i would like to know if my refusal to take the GMAT will affect my visa interview negatively.
