Who can explain what it implies to eliminate the joint account. Is it that the local governments will get their funding directly from the federation account. That will be great boom to our democracy.
you are right, the allocation will come directly
and don't forget you can be an independent chairman candidate of your council!

PoliticsRe: Senate Kicks Against Resource Control, Retains Land Use Act by oladeebo: 9:00pm On Jul 26, 2017
omohayek:
It's no surprise that the Senate would vote against resource control, as everybody knows it will mean less federal allocation to spread around (especially in the north and middle belt), but what possible excuse can there be for voting against abolishing the Land Use Act, other than to allow governors to continue abusing it to enrich themselves and their supporters? How do these idiots expect farmers to ever get better access to credit without secure rights to their land, or for entrepreneurs to be able to raise funds against the land and houses they might "own"?

Stupidity like this just makes me despair for this country, and it's why I wish the recall process against Dino Melaye had been allowed to proceed without interruption. Only when a few of these idiots in the NASS get recalled will they start to sit up and pay attention to the interests of the masses, instead of just what benefits them and their fellow politicians.
but we are in democracy you know!
may be you are 35!
if you are popular you don't need to be in politics to be president today

The senators are the ones getting it wrong. Devolve more power to the states so they control their resources and be the ones contributing to the federal Government, not Federal Government sharing every month.
which state under which governor can contribute anything to federal, what they do with what they earn!

Youngadvocate:
This is just what we are talking about. SMH

Over to you bigot youths...begin your ethnic ranting.

The earlier we understand that Nigerian ruling class are united against the masses, the better for us.
These chaps of no dignity and sense of service, who do not in the slightest sense, comprehend the essence of leadership; who have no regard for leadership values and human dignity, are just trapped in the ebb of selfish aggrandizement and capital accumulation to the detriment of the good of the majority. Our future is at stake!

The thieves at National Assembly, whether you like it or not have no regard whatsoever, for the plight of Nigerians, simply because they perpetuate themselves in power. They buy the offices they occupy and therefore, are answerable to their pockets and godfathers.

This is why I strongly support the Movement by Nnamdi Kanu, which seemed to be gradually changing the political narratives in Nigeria and has challenged the statusquo. Every youth should join hands together to champion this revolution against the crop of looters we have as leaders. Had there been justice, equity and equality in Nigeria which are prerequisites for meaningful development, there would never be any noise about BIAFRA, NIGER DELTA MILITANCY, BOKO HARAM etc. Note, all these groups are youths.

Nigeria as it stands, is ridden with injustices. Injustice of the rich against the poor, of the politically advantaged North against the politically disadvantaged South, of people with varying religious values. However, the more prevalent and domineering is that of CLASS. Ruling class against the ruled (MASSES).

They are using every power, narrative, style and ideology to ensure we remain underdeveloped, subjected to them so they could continue to have their way. That is why they have taken government away from us. If not, how many of us know the name of their local govts chairmen?
They don't want our political participation because they need no one to challenge them on the self-serving activities they engage in. Political apathy is what they want. Nigerian political system is WACKED, meant for the RICH. And, no one can change the STATUS QUO that favours him, unless forced to.

This is why the YOUTHS must unite against these folks. If YOU CANT JOIN TO FIGHT, AT LEAST SUPPORT THOSE AT THE FORE-FRONT with some ENCOURAGEMENT.

rubbish!
Who voted APC to power to come and reduced the federal government power?
what the states have been done to 48% allocation they earn?
What a weaker Nigeria federal government mean for you?
With these amendments you as an independent candidate have opportunity to become political office holder.
if you have something better to do for your people why can't you contest for political office?
PoliticsRe: Senate Rejects Devolution Of Powers To States by oladeebo: 6:46pm On Jul 26, 2017
Dream of weaker federal government to be drag around by smaller countries in the midst of community of nation, never forever, if 48% is not enough for the states and locals, they can labour for local revenue.

It's not too late to be better, although the senate before then performed bellow expectation and frustrated Nigerian, but these days they've performed creditably well and they deserved to be praised
The news at red chamber these days is encouraging and given the patriotic Nigerian hope of belonging.
The amendments eg Local council election, to federal allocation, to the protection of federal might, issues of political office candidate.
infact all is well for Nigeria.
The interest of Nigeria is considered and well protected
weldone the senate.
PoliticsThe Three Tiers Of Government Were In Enough To Manage Nigeria Nation Very Well by oladeebo(op): 11:32am On Jul 26, 2017
There is no need for Regional governments in Nigeria it's an arrangements of politicians that will cost Nigeria nation financially, Nigerian mustn't allow this. Any form of Regional government increased the marginalization of the poor masses.
People were talking of Restructuring Nigeria into regions, having resources control and state police!
But why is it a necessity to have regional government for Nigeria prosperity?
We didn't Need the fourth tier of the government, only what we needed as a nation is a free and independents people in local councils.
If all the three tiers of the governments were free and under the center government the problem is solve.
If we drag ourselves into another unmanageable Regional government then we were in big trouble.
When Inec organised local councils elections.
And Local council allocation come directly from center.
If states can have state police or any sorts of control Nigeria will be better.
If we have any regional government today make sure we prepared for regional conflicts latter.
Also Regional government will treats the mighty power of Nigeria nation against internal and external aggressors!
