Romance / Re: This Is Why No woman Should Trust Her Man With Any lady. by OlaEkundayo: 6:50am On Jan 07, 2019
The most important sex organ is the mind/brain, not the dick. The older/more mature your mind gets, the better choices your dick makes. You'll realise that you have so much control over it.

Apart from people who have medical conditions (yes there are) which make them cheat, cheating is more a reflection of who you are and how you see women.

If you see women as just conquests, you'll keep doing it and it becomes habit, very difficult to break. However, your life changes the day you see a woman as human, with the same emotions as you do. When you see what cheating does mentally, physically, psychology and emotionally to a human being; you'll run away from it.

Yes, some will say man must Bleep. I agree, not Bleep around.

Politics / Re: Offa Bank Robbers Attended Saraki's Daughter's Wedding, One Wore Aso Ebi- Police by OlaEkundayo: 8:15pm On Jun 06, 2018
This is complete hogwash.

Do you know how many people will attend someone's daughter's wedding and buy "aso ebi" that the person doesn't know. This is Africa.

Do your job. Show call records between the two of them or photographs of them in a private meeting. Anything less than that is hearsay and won't hold in a competent court of law.

It's the reason you keep losing cases. It's never about what you know, think or suspect. It's about what you can prove.
Romance / Re: My Experience With A Single Mother I wanted to marry. by OlaEkundayo: 5:12pm On Jun 03, 2018
The idea of stigmatising people and putting them in a box because of their circumstances is just wrong.

A lot of women have got the rough end of the stick from men who trick them, usually telling gargantuan lies to get into their pants.

Every single woman was made so by a man who made her pregnant and evaded responsibility. If you're not sure about her don't stick it in her. If you must, use protection.

I know a lot of single mothers. They are brilliant, well mannered and beautiful women who became that way because they dared to trust men. I can understand why they may have significant trust issues.

Raising a child in a home is tough enough, doing it all by yourself in this society is double trouble. They need understanding and support not judgement and condemnation.

To every single woman out there; your life may have taken a detour but your dreams are still valid. You will get there.

I wonder if the same judgement is dispensed to the men who are responsible for the creating the children.

Travel / Re: Moving Back To Nigeria From USA by OlaEkundayo: 6:25pm On Dec 10, 2017
I moved home this year from the US after a medical degree, a master's degree, a PhD and medical specialisation. That's after 15 years. My objectives were clear: to develop my specialty and to ensure knowledge transfer to Nigeria.

It was rough but I got used to it. The biggest problem of Nigeria is also it's greatest strength; the people. I will advise that you find the right people to help smoothen your transition. Find people who are not interested in grabbing from you but in genuinely helping you resettle.

You must come with a mndset that it won't be easy. You will be your own city council. You will have to generate your own power and water.

They will never pay you enough. At least that's how it will seem at first. It used to take less than a week to use up what the Government was paying but as you settle into the Nigerian system it will get better. Since you're in I.T I expect that you'll have quite a number of opportunities and a different set of challenges.

The difference between you and is that I obtained citizenship and I still go back and forth with all our plans with the knowledge and technology transfer.

I can tell you this. Once you are settle in and you're generating the right kind of income Nigeria is a decent place to live in. It's a fertile ground and someone such as yourself will be amazed as to how much you can accomplish.

So have a clear road map, find the right people, be mentally prepared. If I can do it so can you.

Very interested in this. Been investigating. Won't rush to make comments. If anyone of the students is here please send me a mail.

“Investment in education is not a matter of luxury. If you want you must invest. You give universities a pittance to produce the same graduate that you pay 12,000 pounds to train. The more we train, substantial number of them drift away because if you train somebody, it is not even fair on the person to expect that he will come back and not have working tools. That guy will either leave the country or stay and waste. This is a big deal."

That was said by the Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University. It is an ideal summary.
Health / Re: 900 Doctors Resign From University College Hospital, Ibadan & Lagos Hospital by OlaEkundayo: 9:15am On Nov 21, 2017
Nigeria does not have a Biosafety Level 3 laboratory (BSL3). We are trying to change that now with help from our partners. How can you do proper research? Would you believe there is a Biosafety Level 4 laboratory in Gabon? Are people aware that we still send samples abroad for diagnosis?

Someone said doctors are taught how to protect themselves so they don't need hazard allowance. When there is no water on the wards of one of the biggest teaching hospitals in Nigeria? Do you know the level of Multi Drug Resistant Organisms that have been isolated in hospitals? When the doctor gets unwell where is the insurance? What structures are in place for his/her well being?

It's easy to bash people. Yes there are bad doctors. To say that because there a bad doctors then all the doctors in Nigeria do nothing is grossly inappropriate. Is it only doctors who want to leave? I am bombarded by nurses & radiographers as well. Are they bad too?

Let's direct our anger at the real problem. A system that makes people prefer to perish in the ocean while trying to cross into Europe rather than stay at home.

Education / Re: NUC budgets N8m for research, N85m to purchase vehicles by OlaEkundayo: 8:36am On Nov 21, 2017
I hope this is not true.

I keep looking for reasons to keep believing in Nigeria but the country itself keeps giving you more reasons not to.

googi:
Thank you for that curriculum comment.

Every comment here recognized the inhospitable environment every worker no matter his educational background found himself. It is nothing to glorify.

Some have issues with those students that have benefited most and were subsidized most from the adverse system- running away with our investment.

I have to tell this story. One of the Nigerian trained doctors came for postgraduate course. When he told the class that he could not even get clean water to wash his hands after operations, I was so ashamed, I did not know when I disputed his story in class.

Though I realized he could be telling the truth. He was told he needed to go back home and fix the problem. Coming back home, I knew it was not going to be easy. But the recognition, respect and pride at home cannot be compared to the disdain you get abroad, even if you become the President of United States.

If Prof. Happi was waiting for readymade equipment from abroad, instead of modifying what he had to come up with novel method, he would not have diagnosed Ebola in 48 hours.

That is how we complained about how expensive tractors, chicken feed and wheat were until some thought about trytor, modified old fashion way of feeding chicken and sold it as import, used cassava in bread before the public accepted it.

My friend is crying about Xray. Nobody could find out or make Xray out of old machine but a guy in Kaduna can make helicopter from scrap yard?

As an Internal Medicine & Infectious Disease Specialist who came in from the US I am privy to a few things and some of these assertions are unfair. Prof Happi has a working relationship with the Harvard School of Public Health. That's what facilitated the diagnosis you are referring to.

Cuba and India have some of the best X-ray and MRI machines in the world. Those machines are not made in those countries. Those countries advanced in healthcare because they invested heavily in infrastructure. The analogy of comparing high-level diagnosis with chicken feed is incongruous.

While everyone is trying to go the other way I came back. I believe in Nigeria & I believe this is the time to do something. I have been creating partnerships with the Infectious Disease Society of America and trying to improve the quality of our manpower and equipment. I can't tell you how much I have lost in revenue but I am in a place in my life where I don't seek to make a living but to make a difference.

Even the powers that be all agree with me that we need to do a lot more to improve infrastructure.

Health / Re: Don’t Wash Female Babies’ Genitals With Medicated Soap –doctor by OlaEkundayo: 7:49am On Nov 18, 2017
It's not just female babies' genitals, adults are not supposed to use medicated soaps on their bodies except recommended by a dermatologist.

The skin is part of our defence system, our immune system. There are microorganisms on the skin called commensal microbes. They usually cause no harm and help to mediate the immune system.

Medicated soaps wash off all the commensal microbes and leave the skin exposed. Research shows a decreased exposure to microorganisms especially in early life correlates to a 2 fold rise in inflammatory skin conditions.

Pidgin2:

Nigerian doctors are failures. Greedy lot with no empathy. Most of them run their private clinics besides working for government, they refer patients to their own clinics because of greed and wickedness. They reap where they didn't sow, even in their private clinics they won't treat patients without funds, wicked souls with no empathy for humanity

What have their associations done towards making healthcare better besides asking for increased salaries? All failures, not heroes.

Maybe because I'm kinda new here I have not experienced that. I see people who take risks every day without the right equipment sometimes without their payment.

Everything I use I had to bring in because there was none available. When they tried to provide it was always sub standard. I could not use it.

If you have a different experience I'd be glad if you could share it with me just to get a sense of what goes on and why you see them as failures.

please house I fainted last night when I woke up to urinate,
I don't know how it happened,
I just saw my self on the floor of my bathroom,
with the sink broken,
last thing I remember was waking up to pee.
am in my late 20,s no heart conditions, I ate that night though little as I have always done,
please what could be the cause
I have a HMO so I go for check ups regularly

The first step would be to find the cause. Any case of fainting is usually treated as a medical emergency until diagnosis is made.

I would advise that you do a Complete Blood Count first; also have your Blood Pressure checked morning and evening if you can.

Let's see the results and we will take it from there.

Simple scenario...I trained in the US and came back in 2007. I didn't stay up to a year and left. I was invited back home in January 2017 to help develop my specialty. On Wednesday I went to the consulting room I used in 2007 and there has been no single change; no improvement in infrastructure in 10 years.

The conditions of service are appalling. Most doctors can't even afford a decent vacation, work multiple jobs to stay afloat. Terribly designed and humid wards. No seperate ward for TB patients, I usually see DM patients and TB patients right next to each other. Inadequate diagnostic equipment. Inadequate protective equipment.

I have received tons of request from not just interns and residents to help them get out of here but also consultants as well and I have overseen the exit of 11 bright doctors.

The Nigerian doctor is a hero, risking his life every day to function in a dysfunctional system. I don't blame him or her. The Government has not done enough for the health sector.
