Yes Netotse, you're quite right but potential is a great platform to begin with. He's popular, young and energetic. We the people should work with these potentials. We should begin to mould him into the type of leader we want. Let us begin to make demands on him. Let him begin to be aware of his responsibilities. As he moves so the people reward him with opportunity. He has not signified he wants anything to do with the status-quo so there's faint hope working here. The thing is that if people do not move very soon the very status-quo we hate will become attractive to him.

The PDP for instance will become irresistible. They will simply milk his popularity while keeping him frozen. I am sure no matter how strong willed he is, reforming such a party is next to impossible. The PDP dominates both houses yet nothing works. So why go there. If Nigeria implodes under their watch no good person will want to be identified with them.

Whatever he lacks now he better get outside. And it is you and I that had better equip him. Even though no two wars are the same no soldier becomes a general by preparing in battle. Look at the resistance the current President is facing even within the party. Are we not accusing him of naivety and political mood swings here and there. It is because these fellows are not equipped before they get there. Few may know what they stand for but are frequently lost when it comes to implementation. Why was Obasanjo selected in 1999. It is because they knew he was not ready to rule. Same for UMYA, now GEJ.

So the Ribadu hardware is fundamentally up to it. What he needs (what we need) is time to put in the right kind of software to make the system work properly. I rest. Please I really don't know how to explain it.

You have said it all, And brilliantly too.Ribadu has the character we need.He just needs improvements to run the nation better.

You forgot to include Grandma AYOKA ADEBAYO (the lady with Yoruba type of Conscience)
Ribadu can start from the Senate or Adamawa Governorship position just like Adams Oshiomole

Eeeemmmmmm, Do you realise she initially refused to announce the concocted result, resigned and went under till
Madam Re-Brand DORA AKUNYILI threatened and forced her to announce those result after showing the old woman incriminating evidence against her Son in Abuja.
Suffice to say that most writers are calling for the sack of Akunyili for her complicity in the Ekiti scandal.
Thats a clear case of fall from Grace to grass for the ex-NAFDAC Boss

The fact remains that we have very good lawmakers with great oratory skills in both chambers of the Assembly BUT what have they achieved in the past aside appropriating Billions to themselves?
We have had Presidents in the past with good communication skills but they all lack the much-needed progressive ideology.
What we need in this country is a Nigerian who wants to get the job done.PERIOD.

Our resources are being plundered everyday and it took this same Ribadu for all Nigerians to see how very few Nigerians are feeding fat on our collective
funds and psyche.Ribadu took that job to an unprecedented level in the history of Nigeria.

Personally,I believe he has done enough to show that he has what it takes to run Nigeria.

Fashola and Oshiomole were criticised for the same thing But today fashola still remains the best Governor in the land.

We need to focus on important qualities of these candidates and not on communication skills.

Donald Duke Or pat Utomi as VP will take are of the communication aspect of it.

How long do we have to wait? Our generation is being seriously mismanaged by these disgruntled thieves who wants or needs nothing more than stealing Billions for their future kindred unborn.Nigerian graduates and intellects are today more  hopeless than ever before in the history of Nigeria.
A land blessed with so much resources is gradually being turned into Somalia because of insatiable greed of the few.
We need a young, brilliant, vibrant and progressive candidate as president.
Nuhu Ribadu fits that Bill.

@ Beaf: Explain this;

Patience Jonathan: Nigeria’s Most Powerful Woman
Posted on October 28, 2007
by Adeola Aderounmu
By Sonala Olumhense.

ON September 11, 2006, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seized $13.5 million dollars (US) from Mrs. Patience Jonathan, the wife of then Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Goodluck Jonathan.
The International Herald Tribune quoted the EFCC spokesman, Mr. Osita Nwajah, as saying that the seizure was made after Mrs. Jonathan had allegedly laundered the money through an associate.

It was the second time in one month Mrs. Jonathan was hitting the scandal headlines. In August, the EFCC had obtained a court order to temporarily freeze N104 million she had allegedly tried to launder through one Mrs. Nancy Ebere Nwosu. The EFCC said it had reason to believe the seized funds belonged to the public. In a sworn statement, Mrs. Nwosu implicated Patience Jonathan, the EFCC said.

Maybe its her monthly salary

Thief Woman.

It is still continued, Below is the link for full details.

[quote author=Beaf
. After a protracted litigation in which Bola Tinubu claimed that the monies legitimately belonged to him, his wife, Oluremi Tinubu and his surrogate mother, one Alhaja Mogaji, Bola Tinubu finally opted for a stipulated settlement with the U.S government. According to the settlement Order dated September 15, 1993; Hon. Judge John A Nordberg ordered that the sum of $460,000 held by Bola Tinubu in The First Heritage Bank account be forfeited to the United States Government. The Court also ordered the release of the funds held in the Citibank account and any money held in excess of $460,000 at the First Heritage account to Bola Tinubu in line with the agreement and stipulation reached by Tinubu with the federal agents.

[/quote]

I asked you a simple question and you started posting rubbish. You post the same stuff on every Tinubu thread. You no dey tire?

Obviously, you dont live or work anywhere abroad.
It takes a total defeat for the U.S judicial system to accept a "stipulated settlement" most likely initiated by the Chicago Police Dept.
In a lay man's language,it means instead of going home empty-handed,we accept settlement to cover our litigation expenses.

Any U.S. court is no joke and for little known Tinubu to survive such rigorous investigation and legal fireworks only to forfeit $460K is definitely a big feat.

he came out of it taller, more popular and a great politician.
He was never convicted and as such never went to jail for any crime.Remember that it happened in U.S. where there is no short-cut or mercy for offfenders especially people of colour.

Ribadu stayed in exile in U.S. and worked with different security establishemts worldwide.he must have checked Tinubu's file before associating with him.
Politics / Re: Ribadu Needs Repackaging by olafolarin(m): 4:56am On Oct 21, 2010
Please just ansWer that question. Was He convicted of any Crime in Chicago or anywhere in the World?Pls show me Tinubu's conviction notice since you are good @ posting garbage.

If He was Tried in à competent U.S Court and wasnt convicted of any wrongdoing, the onus is on you to substantiate your Claim or reason for calling him "criminal".
Or the word "criminal" has à different meaning in your own Dictionary.
Politics / Re: Ribadu Needs Repackaging by olafolarin(m): 4:34am On Oct 21, 2010
Was He convictedof any of the afore-mentioned Crimes?
Allegation is One Thing but being convicted for those allegations is another.
You Know better than that.
Politics / Re: Ribadu Needs Repackaging by olafolarin(m): 4:31am On Oct 21, 2010
Akala,Ohakim and Most importantly Orji have collectively Run out of ideas on how to manage their respective States. And These are GEJ's Men.If "guilty by Association" is à Crime in Nigeria, GEJ should Be jailed for his array of corrupt associates.

Ribadu's use or Choice of words may Be poor but GEJ is not better.
I have watched  Series of His Interviews and its almost à Shame that
He has PhD in Fisheries but He is still the Most credible candidate among
PDP contestants.But thats it.
Apart from being à lawyer representing the Police during Oputa Panel,Ribadu's Main assignment was His Job at
EFCC and He did it  excellently enough to project him into inter'l limelight.
Doing that in à Country like Nigeria speaks Volume of him and His Vision for the Country.

For what its worth,I believe Ribadu is the right Voice for my Generation.

For One to Be called à Crminal,He Must have been indicted or betterstill convicted of at least One Crime.
Can you please(for clarity Sake) Name One Crime Tinubu Was\have been convicted of?Just One.
If you cant Name One but based your accusation on allegations then;
Your GEJ's wife was allegedly caught with suitcases containing Millions of Dollars while GEJwS the Governor of Bayelsa State,
Does that make her à criminal? The Onus is on you to take à stand/decision.

That Ribadu is running for Presidency on ACN's Party of which Tinubu is à national Leader removed nothing From Ribadu's
integrity or respect.Compared to GEJ's PDP,ACN is still à better Choice.

GEJ Must Be à Saint for moving with Akala,Gbenga Daniel, Alams( His predecccessor in Bayelsa),OBJ,Anenih,Ohakim,T.O.Orji etc.
These are the Most Corrupt Nigerians hat Ever lived.
OGD's Coup in Ogun State is Still giving GEJ à Black Eye while Akala and Orji are complet

@Marvix:
Why are you attacking Ribadu As if you don't  Know how Nigeria Works.
Ribadu has à constitutional right to Contest for Presidency.
He couldnt convict Iyabo Obasanjo,Odili,Bode George etc because of Obasanjo.
At least Ribadu's evidence stopped Odili from becomng the VP.
Obasanjo is today tearing His Home State apart because of the political Ambition of His daughter.
Ribadu and Soludo were the Star of OBJ's. Administration before Sanusi (another Youth)came to Show us the rot in Soludos Fake recapitalisation.
Youth might have made some regrettable mistakes in the past but the Best Governors in Nigeria Today are still within that Age bracket.Fashola,Donald Duke,Rotimi Amaechi,Shekarau etc have all excelled One Way or the other in their respective Cosmopolitan States.Nigerianswill Be delighted to See  One or à combination of those(including Ribadu) aspiring for the highest post in the Land.
Among the PDP candidates,GEJ is the Most brilliant and credible but thats it.
You and i Know PDP has been more of à cause to Nigeria than blessing.
How Long do we have to keep Recycling those over-bloated Leaders who have been collectively feeding Fat on our Resources?
Daily and continously, our Resources are being wasted while poverty impoverishes an average Nigerian.
We Need to get it right this Time because we cant waiting any longer.
2011 is à Date with destiny in Nigeria and our Hope is only on the Youth who understands th yearnings of the New Generation.

@the bolded portion, that is what i expect of the 2011 elections we dont need free, fair and credible elections, we have had flawed and massively rigged selection, so if we have a fair election it would be an improvement and subsequently we could move to free nd fair and mayb finally add the credible to it.

My take is that if only 10% of the voting public are registered let them vote and let us have a govt that is voted by the populace.

U are indirectly asking us to settle for mediocrity when we can reach for the Sky.19% or worse still 10% is never à representation of the wish of the People.with N87B expended,Nigerians expect nothing than à credible and acceptable election.

Justice for common sense.

my only pain is that the thief (ole, barawo, ekeprima) will still be allowed to walk our streets and possibly be given senate ticket as compensation by the PDP. I wish that the judges will subpoena Iwu, the lady returning officer and everyone involved and put them in jail as strong examples to the PDP and other people who think that they can walk all over Nigeria.

This is a warning to anyone getting ready for 2011 and the PDP. I take this opportunity to ask God to please put confusion in PDP quarters so that they will be fighting themselves until 2011 elections are over. PDP is the bane of democracy in Nigeria.

God bless, save and keep Nigeria from the PDP. They will see a failure never ever anticipated in 2011. I even hear that a certain mafia illiterate self made king pin in Anambra State is threatening to conest a senatorial seat in his zone come 2011 after he failed to force his men on the state in 2009 elections and his brother failed to bribe his way through the courts as the givernor in waiting or be made PDP consensus candidate in the state. Can anyone imagine anything like this? yes only in Nigeria and by the PDP.

Politics / Re: Appeal Court Declares Fayemi As Ekiti State Governor by olafolarin(m): 8:30pm On Oct 15, 2010
klas:

Let us get the facts straight before we castigate the judiciary. The election was conducted last year 2009 not in 2007. Recall that 2007 election purportedly won by Oni was partially cancelled by the Judiciary early 2009 based on petition from Fayemi. Oni was removed for the Speaker to act as Governor for some months in 2009. Re-run was done in some local governments after which Oni was again declared winner by Ayoka inec in 2009. Fayemi went to court again to challenge the Oni's re-election hence today's verdict.

But in all these: Fayemi was never declared as Governor and as such wasnt sworn in as Governor.
It means that in the 2007 guber poll as well as the 2009 re-run, Fayemi is the winner but INEC/election tribunal  miscarried justice
thereby delaying the inauguration of the rightful winner of the election.
What that implies is that fayemi will start his tenure from the date of his inauguration.(maybe tommorrow).
Section 180(1) and (2) of the Constituition is very clear about that.
Besides there was a precedence as in the case of Peter Obi of Anambra state. Its a landmark judgement that will be reffered to in this case.

Topman, because PDP is doing something wrong, does not mean everybody should do it wrong.

Look at the constitution. It state two reason. When the governor is alive or b when the governor dies.
Notice the word first person. first means, there may be more than one. Obi of anambra case was wrong judgment.
The only was is to rewrite the constituition.

Can you explain that?
Politics / Re: Appeal Court Declares Fayemi As Ekiti State Governor by olafolarin(m): 6:36pm On Oct 15, 2010
The Constituition of the Federal republic is very clear about the tenure of Governors. The tenure of a Governor starts from the date he/she took the Oath of Allegiance and ends exactly 4 years after that. Most similar is the Peter Obi's landmark case which gave an insight into the interpretation of that section of the Constituition that affects Governors.

becomrich: link=topic=532421.msg6947344#msg6947344 date=1287162665]
olafolarin why do you think so. Show me, where it state that in the nigeria constitution.

Are we all confuse. When his Jonathan term ending.??
Section 180 deals specifically with the tenure of the Office of a Governor.  It envisages that the elections  are over and it now defines the period the successful candidate for the post of Governor will stay in office. That Section is self-explanatory; it has nothing to do with electoral matters. Section 180(1) and (2) of the 1999 Constitution provides:

Section 180(1)

“Subject to the provision of this Constitution, a person shall hold the office of Governor of a State until:
(a)    When his successor in office takes the Oath of that office, or
(b)    He dies while holding such office; or
(c)    The date when his resignation from office takes effects, or
(d)    He otherwise ceases to hold office in accordance with the provisions of this Constitution.”

Section 180(2)

“Subject to the provisions of sub-section (1) of this Section the Governor shall vacate his office at the expiration of a period of four years commencing from the date when:
(a)    In the case of a person first elected as Governor under this Constitution, he took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Office; and
(b)    the person last elected to that Office took the Oath of Allegiance and oath of Office or would, but for his death, have taken such oaths”.

“It was after the judgment of the Court of appeal on the 16th of March 2006, and by force of law, that the Appellant (Peter Obi) took his Oath of Allegiance and oath of Office on the 17th of March 2006. Applying the provision of Section 180(2)(a) of the Constitution to facts of this case, which are not in dispute, the four-years term of office of Peter Obi, as Governor of Anambra State would start running from the 17th of March 2006 only to terminate on the 17th  of March 2010. To interpret the provisions of Section 180(2)(a) otherwise will be to read into that sub-section what the legisla-tion never intended. The duty of a judex is to expound the law and not to expand it.”
Politics / Re: Appeal Court Declares Fayemi As Ekiti State Governor by olafolarin(m): 6:02pm On Oct 15, 2010
It is definitely victory for democracy,GEJ and most importantly Fayemi and ACN.
OBJ would not have allowed such verdict. It was a unanimous decision fron 5 judges.
Fayemi will start his tenure from the date of his inauguration which might be anytime next week.
And the tenure will end exactly 4 years after that.
