Politics / There Are Many #emefiele Among Us by OlaitanGanew19(m): 6:48pm On Feb 12
"In Ojuelegba, there is no petrol in many filling stations but there's overflowing of petrol in many kegs."

Nigeria like Ojuelegba, is where you will see banks with several Automated Teller Machines but with empty cash. You'll now be wondering how and where the POS vendors are getting millionaires of Naira they trade to the public with exorbitant charges.

Could it be that Emefiele still operating from Kuje prison?

The answer is no. But the truth is that there are many Elemiemere or Elefiewere (greedy individuals) among Nigerians -- public officials, politicians, private workers and common citizens.

Even though, Emefiele was alleged to have indulged in the violation of the apex bank’s Act, extra budgetary spending and forgery, the former CBN governor should not be facing his predicament alone. His cabals including top politicians, bankers and fraudulent POS vendors who are profiting from his over N26.6 trillion scheme, should join him in jail.

This morning, after trying different ATMs -- trekking from Ojuelegba to Tejuosho Market -- with no cash loaded. I was left with no option but to patronise the street bankers popularly as POS operators.

I got a young lady standing with a POS machine under the Ojuelegba bridge.

To be honest with you, her service was quick and easy. She charged N200 for N5,000 cash. After I pocket my card and money, the story of how some POS agents steal from their customers flashes through my mind.

They could hack your bank details, and wait for days, weeks or months before they carry out their dirty operations. It happened most during Ember months. They want dirty money for Detty December.

So, I decided to make u-return to the POS lady, "Fine girl, do you received transfer?"

"Yes," she answered.

"Good. Let have your account number"

She started calling the numbers. "What's the name on it?" I followed up.
"Adejoke Fashanu," she replied. "Gtb."

"Gibiti," I jokingly said to her. Then she smiles.

"I will send 20k to you in the next one hour but you'll reduce your charges for me ooo."

"Nooo!" she yelled. "My boss won't accept that, please."

"No problem. Lemme have your phone number. I'll call you when I transfer the money."

"08034xxxxx8."

That's when I relax my mind. At least if she cloned my ATM card, I would be able to track her with either her phone number or account name.
Forget all the news that there is enough cash in the bank, 'Emefiele Season 2' is real.

Sports / Inside Lagos Market Where Fake Jersey Are More Expensive Than Original by OlaitanGanew19(m): 1:20pm On Feb 12
Ahead of the highly anticipated final match between Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire on Sunday night, Nigerians are lamenting the soaring price of Super Eagles jerseys.

On Friday afternoon, when I visited some sports stores and boutiques around Lagos, a pair of jerseys that were sold between N10,500 to N13,000 last week—before the semi-final match against South Africa—skyrocketed to N28,000 and N30,000 without customisation. It is cheaper at the Army Shopping Arena (Arena Market) in Oshodi, as the latest designs of the jersey are selling for N8,990 to N10,000.

"Oga, check the label. This is an authentic 2022/23 Nigeria soccer jersey," a sales rep at VCN Sports Plaza, Ojuelegba told this reporter.

"This one no be Idumota or Aba made. Na corrects Nike Dri-FIT with sustainable materials. It is a real version worn by the players. I'm giving you for just 28k, excluding customising. If you want to customise it, you'll add 3k."

Surfing through online marketplaces, including Nike.com, the latest home and away jerseys are selling for between N75,000 and N150,000, depending on the size. On Jumia.com, some retro jerseys are on sale for N22,900 to N25,000 while the latest designs worn by the players against Bafana Bafana cost at least N28,000. On My Sporting Kits, they are offering old jerseys for N20,000 to N42,999.

Chibuzor John, Sales Executive at AllSportsWear, Yaba, said with the Super Eagle's strong performances since the beginning of the AFCON tournament, there has been growing demand for jerseys, both old and new versions.

"We’ve seen sustained high demand for Nigeria jerseys throughout this tournament, so there's a need for us to restock the jerseys for the final game, but the high rate of dollars makes the prices skyrocket.”

John expressed. Many football fans believe the resellers  - both online and physical - are taking advantage of the final match to inflate the prices of the jerseys."I insist, most issues of many pricing in current Nigeria today na Nigerians just dey forecast am," A football enthusiast, Ige Rotimi lamented.

"Bought Nigerian jerseys over the weekend; by this morning, online sellers have added 15k to the previous price of the same retro jerseys, and we go dey blame Tinubu. I will not buy it again. Thank you."

"Called Lagos today to place some orders, was told 25k (for a jersey). How much will I now resell? So bad," another fan, Morakinyo HandsumChris said.

A young lady queueing to get her jersey at MegamacSports, Ojuelegba said, "Nigerians, we are the ones doing ourselves in this country. I bought two pairs of Super Eagles jerseys for my client last week at N9,700 each. Now, I'm paying double the amount to get a single jersey. We just like to punish and suffer ourselves in the country shaa."

Tony Adewusi warned Nigerian football supporters to beware of fake jerseys when he said, "The current home and away jerseys are scarce in the market and online stores. It may be challenging to find them in the market. But you can still support our team with other green wears or retro jerseys."

For Bayo Olaniyonu, the Nigeria jersey is the most south-after commodity in the whole world right now.

Reacting to Nigerians' lamentation over the hike of jerseys, an online store, Jerseygramm101 emphasised that its company won't tarnish its reputation by selling fake kits.

"Some people have asked us why our jerseys are not super cheap like 6k, 5k etc. There are levels to these jerseys but some people are not privy, we don't sell those types and we don't plan to. Our track record speaks for itself and we won't tarnish it. we are the first international ecommerce sports store from Nigeria and our reputation is sacrosanct."

Crime / Baba Ijebu Is Mad by OlaitanGanew19(m): 3:48pm On Feb 13, 2017
'Baba Ijebu what is the luck number today!' A security guard asked the madman repeatedly. 'I don't have number today, stop disturbing me, ' the madman replied aggressively, as he walkaway down the street of Igbosere, Lagos. After a few minutes, he came looking for the security guard, 'Eee madman boy, bring your pen, let me give you the number for the last time.' All the securities on duty and some passerby rushed to met their Messiah (Madman). The question is: Who's mad among the 2 mad. The madman or the mad guard. #GambleTakeOva #BabaIjebu #Recession

Celebrities / Celebrities Versus Endorsements Fever by OlaitanGanew19(m): 10:56am On Oct 31, 2016
Entertainers versus endorsement fever
By Olaitan Ganiu
Brands endorsement deal obviously seems to be one of the money game trend celebrities make a buck as the era of album sales, mouthwatering record label deals is gradually dispersing in Nigeria music industry. Screen idols are now going extra mile to land their mega endorsement deal. The phase, “Any publicity is good publicity” seems to be the winning formula.
Like a common advice for spinsters, ‘Be careful before you seek her hands into marriage’ equivalent should be for any artiste hunting for endorsements deal is. As marriage required commitment, loyalty and dedication likewise the endorsement deals is.
As an industry watcher, I think brands negative traits are transferred over to celebrity who partner with brands to scam consumers. Entertainers should be watchful the product they are endorsing before unveiling it to the public since fans will be the consumer of endorsed products. If a celebrity appear on scam promo, it might have a negatively influences on consumer perception.
Celebrity should rethink their approach and ask these few questions before endorsing any product. Are my looking to establish a relationship with a company that I believe in? Are my knowledgeable about the product offerings? Are my willing to enthusiastically promote brand products socially and publically? Basically, what are my going to do for the company you are endorsing? And also, should also be more concern about their fans.
But, it’s so dishearten seeing our superstars are so egocentric, they entwined with brands to defrauding fans with fake promo and rendering poor services. Brands are ready to splash millions on celebrities just to speak about their products because of the huge fans on social network. It is a fans that make you a superstar, ‘a fans can make or mar you’. Our celebrities are a traitor and betrayer!
For instance, some telecommunications will advertise 2g data browsing for 3g, they promise us all expenses paid trip only to found ourselves in their village, they promise us brand new aeroplane but gave us fairly used, they assaulting people with spam messages and ripping poor Nigerians.
A fan post on social network reads, “Truth is, these useless promos end up making us poorer by the day. The sooner we open our eyes and stop responding to such offers the better for us. What we need is good service quality. Any Artiste who collected money can’t speak badly against the brands products or services”.

If Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) failed to be diligent by their three guiding principles (Fair, Firm and Forthright) in carrying out its duties and functions as the National Telecommunications Regulator. They are responsible for ensuring the provision of qualitative and efficient telecommunications services throughout the country.
I think it’s time for us to utilize our power to let our celebrities know that we have the right to unfollow them on social network and we have the to ignore their concert shows.
Let us proof to these multinationals company and their local collaborators that Nigerians are not gullible people, let us stop buying recharge cards to win aeroplane, houses or cars, let us change our perception on how to get rich instantly without offering ccommensurate effort.
Gone are the days when Nigerian musicians used sees music as weapons to emancipate this country. Fela Anikulapo-kuti, Sunny Okosun, King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey to mention a few are the definition of human rights activist, they use music to fight for masses.
One of the very few entertainers who have disassociates themselves to sign endorsement deal is the son of Afrobeat legend, Seun Kuti. He once opened up on endorsement fever that has gripped Nigerian artists and why he hasn’t signed any deal yet.
“I know the telecommunications do a lot of that. But I don’t think I have anything that they can sell. Nobody sell honesty, they only sell flamboyance. I think people should on the grassroots, on the poor,” the Fela Anikulapo son said.
The new generation should follow their footsteps they should mobilize themselves to support the country people.
