Summary of the Express Entry process. Trust me, you can do it yourself.

All information can be verified on the official website of IRCC, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp, if in any doubt.

1. It is expedient that you determine your eligibility for the Express Entry program, you can check that by answering a few questions on http://www.cic.gc.ca/ctc-vac/ee-start.asp

2. There are many streams available to immigrate to Canada. You can get direct Invitation To Apply (ITA) as a Federal Skill Worker (FSW) if your CRS score is higher than the bi-weekly round of invitation cut-off set by the IRCC. You can check what your CRS score would be and compare with cut-offs for recent rounds of invitation to know the likelihood of getting a direct ITA.

3. If your CRS score is well below recent cut offs, you might want to consider PNPs or try to get a job offer with a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) to improve your score. Check websites for Provincial websites for further details on their PNPs and their requirements. See LMIA details http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/employers/lmo-basics.asp. NOTE: Getting a job offer is difficult but not impossible.

4. Get your credentials assessed by approved bodies to show their Canadian equivalence. See link for details: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/assessment.asp
Assessments take usually take 2-4months on the average depending on your institution and are valid for 5years after which you’d need to redo them.


5. Get your language test(s) done. You must get at least CLB 7 in each of the four sections for the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), or Provincial Nomination Program (PNP) streams. The better your score in each band, the higher your CRS score.

CLB 9 (LRWS: 8,7,7,7) can greatly boost your score. Infact, to get a high score you need at least CLB 9. Unless you have Canadian work experience and Canadian education.

6. Determine your National Occupation Classification (NOC) code. A field you must have work in for a period of at least 12 months. Check http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp
The occupation must be NOC 0, A, or B for FSW.

7. Create your Express Entry profile

Job Bank is not compulsory.

You'll be in a pool until your CRS score becomes higher than the cut-off for a draw, the you’d receive an ITA

8. When you finally get an ITA, you would put in your application and provide documentation to prove your claims. You would also need to make the following payments; application fee (C$550 each for principal applicant and spouse) and right of permanent resident fee (C$490 each for principal applicant and spouse)
