PHP takes nothing less than 82% of the web currently, that changing in the future will be a very slow painful death.
Which i don't think.its happening anytime soon.

Python on the other hand as been used to develop alot of websites, The bigger ones that come to mind are:

YouTube , Quota , Disqus, Instagram, Pinterest

There is a huge list of websites that uses Python but in my opinion this is more than enough.

So, therefore this two languages are useful in their own ways and means. I don't think there is a need for comparison Go for whatever sails your boat.
