9)O.J. Simpson It’s pretty easy to see where O.J. Simpson lost his fortune. When he was accused of murdering his wife, he was ordered to pay $33.5 million even though he was acquitted. His belongings were auctioned off and he racked up piles of legal fees from it all, which added up and caused a dent in his bank account. What followed was a loss of potential endorsement deals, which other sports stars use to rake in millions, a number of further lawsuits accusing him of not paying his bills, and eventually, a robbery. He is currently serving time for the armed robbery of a Las Vegas hotel room in 2007, in which he attempted to take belongings that he claimed were his already, including his Hall of Fame certificate. Despite the ins and outs of the crime, it’s pretty clear that Simpson’s wealth is not where it used to be. 10)Kim Basinger Actress Kim Basinger was once on top of the world, and had enough funds to buy herself some spectacular luxuries. She received the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in L.A. Confidential, and had major roles in films like Never Say Never Again and Batman. At the height of her success, she purchased a town in Georgia. That’s how you know you’re rolling it in! She originally had major plans to turn the town into a fantastic investment, but one by one, they fell through, and the town ended up not making any profit for Basinger. On top of that financial loss, she was sued for $8 million after she backed out of the film Boxing Helena at the very last minute. In 1993, after all that financial stress, Basinger declared bankruptcy. She’s had her share of health issues over the past few years, but there is talk that she’s set to star in a few upcoming films!

5)Mike Tyson Mike Tyson is a famous case of rags to riches, and then right back to rags. A boxing icon, Tyson was known as one of the best in the game (or the ring!). By the time he retired, he walked away with $400 million. During those years, Tyson wasn’t shy about spoiling himself and splurging on some true luxuries, including a bathtub of gold, and his very own white Bengal tigers. There were said to be 200 people in his team, including chefs, bodyguards, chauffeurs, and gardeners. However, by 2003, he declared bankruptcy, with $23 million owed. His divorce settlement was one of the costlier expenses which brought him down, as were the taxes that he hadn’t paid. The bottom line is he liked to spend millions on things like cars, technology, parties, clothes, and jewelry. Thankfully, he’s out of debt now, but his story serves as a lesson to be careful of spending, no matter how much you have! 6)50 Cent If you’ve ever listened to 50 Cent’s music, you know that there was a time when he was extremely rich. He sold 50 million albums around the world, and even became so popular that he had a movie made about his life. One of the most popular rappers in the world, he invested in Vitamin Water, and though he only possessed a slither of it, earned $100 million when it was sold to Coca Cola in 2007 for a cool $4.1 billion. However, in July of 2015, 50 cent declared bankruptcy. At the time he was estimated to have a net worth of $155 million, so this had a lot of people seriously confused! In 2007, he was the second wealthiest rapper in the industry behind Jay-Z, for goodness’ sake! However, when he filed for bankruptcy, he had some pretty huge debts to his name, including wages for his staff. 7)Toni Braxton Singer Toni Braxton had a few hits in her day, including “He Wasn’t Man Enough for Me”. However, despite a successful singing career, her endless finances and debts weighed down heavily on her, until she eventually lost it all. Twice. When her hit album Secrets was out in 1998, Braxton was bankrupt for the first time, and in debt of $3.9 million. Her assets, including her rewards, were liquidated to pay back her creditors. Things got better over the next few years, but by 2010, her expenses had started to pile up again. She was in debt once more, and had bills to pay for her divorce, to take care of her child with autism, and for the health costs associated with lupus. It was reported that her debts ranged anywhere from $10 million to $50 million by the time she declared bankruptcy for the second time. Hopefully, there won’t be a third for her! Nicholas CageNicholas Cage has a reputation for being one of the biggest spenders in the entertainment industry; he made millions of dollars through his blockbuster hits, but he also knew how to spend it! Among his lavish purchases was a comic book collection worth a million dollars, a pyramid tomb for himself worth the same, and a real skull of a tyrannosaurus rex! From acting alone, he was reported to have made $150 million between 1996 and 2011. Some people wouldn’t even know how to begin spending that money, but Cage obviously had some idea—in addition to his skull and comic book collection, he also bought himself a European castle, mansions, boats and cars. It seems like his shopping outflow outweighed his inflow, because he ended up with a debt to the IRS. Hopefully the next time around he’ll put money into something that can make more money, not like a dinosaur skeleton!

4)Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt When Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt (affectionately known as Speidi) were the reigning king and queen of reality television on The Hills, they apparently spent their money faster than they could make it on fancy cars and expensive dinners out, and now they have little to show for it. The duo is now worth about $20,000 apiece—a figure that pales in comparison to what they once had. The husband and wife have been open about how foolish they were with their cash, sharing their experience as a cautionary tale for others. "If we would have saved our money, it would have been better, but unfortunately we got way too caught up," Montag told Access Hollywood Live. "What did we buy? Just clothes, hair, makeup, managers, publicists, agents, lawyers, at the end of the day it goes by really quickly."

3)Chris Tucker Following the box-office success of Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3, Chris Tucker was the highest paid actor in Hollywood. But the former Def Comedy Jam and Friday star seemingly fell off the map, which some attributed to his conversion to Christianity. Unfortunately, Tucker didn't just quit acting. He also quit paying his taxes and allegedly racked up a $14 million tax bill with the IRS. Tucker eventually settled his tax debt, according to CNN. He returned to stand-up comedy in 2010 and landed a role as Bradley Cooper's best friend in the Academy Award-winning Silver Linings Playbook. He's also rumored to appear in Last Friday, the fourth installment of the hit comedy franchise, and there's even talk of a Rush Hour 4. This is all good news for Tucker, whose net worth sits at only $3 million—a far cry from his days at the top of the food chain.

2)Lindsay Lohan Even though her glory days as a Disney star and the box office success of Mean Girls are far behind her, Lindsay Lohan can still be seen spending lengthy vacations on the Mediterranean when she's not living in London— one of the world's most expensive cities. We have no idea how she's affording all that with a net worth of only $500,000. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Lohan skirted close to bankruptcy, but posing for Playboy and sitting down for a series of interviews with Oprah allegedly pulled her back from the brink. Still, with only half a million dollars to her name and an acting career that's hanging on by a thread, we're not sure how long the Herbie Fully Loaded actress can continue to live the life of luxury before slamming on the brakes.

1)Kelly Rutherford After starring in the hit television series Gossip Girl, you'd assume Kelly Rutherford would be sitting pretty these days, right? Wrong. She's reportedly worth about $1 million, but that's nothing compared to what she used to have in her bank account. Rutherford lost a ton of money during a bitter six-year custody battle over her children. When the dust settled, a judge granted full custody to her German ex-husband, Daniel Giersch, with Rutherford only permitted to visit the kids in France and Monaco, reported the Daily Mail in 2015. According to the paper, Rutherford's litigation fees totaled around $1.4 million and forced the actress to file for bankruptcy in 2013. She told Vanity Fair, "Divorce is a total racket—let's call it what it is. Everyone's making tons of money off of stupid people who don't settle out of court…And for somebody like my ex-husband, [who has] unlimited funds, who sued Google, this is just a sort of side fun project."

Investigators have so far found “no connection” between international terrorist groups and a mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed at least 58 people and injured more than 500, an FBI special agent said Monday. The Islamic State group, through its propaganda arm, had earlier claimed responsibility for the attack, claiming the shooter was a recently converted “soldier.” Police said the attack was carried out by Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old retired accountant. “As this event unfolds we have determined to this point no connection with an international terrorist group,” said Aaron Rouse, the special agent in charge of the Las Vegas office of the FBI.
