olakunle10: I don't know where your destination is in Canada. However, mine was Calgary. So I booked departure ticket 1st, Lagos to Amsterdam to Calgary but flight from Amsterdam to Calgary was cancelled and I was rerouted from Amsterdam to Toronto to Calgary. Then a few days to my departure I booked my return ticket while I was still in Lagos. A few days after I got to Calgary I cancelled the return ticket and I was refunded. So, I'll book my return ticket when I'm close to leaving Canada. You can have one stop over in Europe. For example, if its KLM, 1 stop in Amsterdam and fly to Canada, USA but has to be outside Europe. Again, if it's Air France, you can only do 1 stop in Paris and fly out of Europe except you have transit visa/ Schengen visa. I hope this helps. Cheers Thanks for your response,my destination is Winnipeg. |

olakunle10: Well, i can't really dispute your point. However, i had a different experience at Pearson Airport. Initially i booked my flight from Lagos to Amsterdam to Calgary(my destination). I avoided Pearson Airport as well. But as fate would have it, the day i was meant to travel, my flight from Amsterdam to Calgary was cancelled and rerouted to Toronto then Calgary. I had no choice but to fly that route. On landing at Pearson Airport, I summoned the courage to face the immigration officer. Our conversation went thus: IM Officer: Can i have your passport Me: I handed it to him IM Officer: Why are you in Canada? Me: I'm here to visit my family(Spouse & Child have PR) IM Officer: Where are they? Me: Calgary IM Officer: 1st time in Canada? Me: Yes IM Officer: When are you leaving? Me: In a month's time. IM Officer: Do you have a return ticket? Me: Yes IM Officer: Can I see it? Me: I showed it to him on my phone. IM Officer: Welcome to Canada Me: Thank you. I left and went my way to board my connecting flight to Canada. Our discussion was about 3 mins and that was it. This was about 2weeks+. Just ensure you have necessary documents, cash to cover your stay just incase you are asked. Maybe mine was easy because i have my family here or it was God or both. Be prayerful as well. All the best to all travellers Can you please tell me about the Airline you went with and the procedures.I also have a visit visa and my husband and child has pr.I will be traveling with my daughter and I learnt I will have to book to and fro tickets but my question now is I learnt I can’t pass through Europe without its visa and us also.So please explain how you did yours. Thanks |

Exline101: Is PPR, I have been a silent reader and it won’t be nice if I fail to share this great joy with my Nairaland family .
Timeline ;
I will say I’m a third time applicant though first was a visiting visa around 2018 and I was denied based on financial status and assets.
Second application which is for study and that was when i got to know about Nairaland Travel section and I messaged @Anon123 and asked him to guide me through with my application . Then we submitted on 5th of April 2022 after two month, 8th June hot breakfast was served and we applied for gcms immediately and it came out around 29th of July :
Refusal reasons: unexplained lump sums and also the VO stated that the cooperate account statement provided that I did not explain relationship b/w the employee/employer .
What we did different : I paid additional tuition of 9500$ with the previous deposit of 2000$ making it a total sum of 11500$ ,I also went to bank requested for a reference letter stating that am sole signatory to my cooperate and savings account and also added few sales receipts /invoice of my business then we re-fired on 21st of August and PPR dropped on 10th of November.
Documents submitted
1. Letter of acceptance 2. Tuition receipt 3. Marriage certificate 4. Cac certificate 5. My wife’s cac certificate 6. 2 power of attorney of landed documents 7. Property valuation certificate 8. Tenancy agreements from my tenants 9. Sales receipt/invoice from my business 10. Police clearance certificate 11. Cooperate and savings account statement 12. My 2 kids birth certificate 13. Family pictures
I want to specially thank God almighty for making this Canadian dream a reality. I give him all the glory and also i want to thank @Anon123 for pointing me at the right direction and also all the gurus in the house . To the PPR hopefuls keep the faith alive it will surely end in praise . Amen
What is bothering me now is that I can’t find my biometrics receipt anymore though will be doing walk in passport submission since I live in Abuja until I get there this week will find a way out . Congratulations,Canada will Favour U and urs.pls let us know ur outcome on the biometrics because I’ve lost my biometrics slip too. Thanks |

RandD: Hi everyone. Though I have been a long time guest here, I recently registered to give back to this forum. I'm a first time applicant, and I applied with the new link. Here is my timeline:
Visa applied for: Visitor Visa. Purpose of visitation: To reunite with family member who is a PR holder. Application submitted online: January 31. Biometrics completed: February 1 (updated same day on my portal). Eligibility review: Started March 25/26, not sure of the two dates exactly. BVL & PPR: March 30. Sent passport to the VAC office: March 31. Return of stamped passport: April 13.
Documents submitted: 1. Letter of employment 2. Introduction letter from place of work 3. My statement of account 4. Family member PR card 5. Wife's statement of account 6. Birth certificate 7. Family member statement of account 8. A simple SOP of about 1 page, stating reasons for family reunification 9. Letter of invitation from the family member inviting me .
I started following this Canada Visa thread weeks after submitting my application. At a point I felt somehow about my application, and wished I had done more. Nevertheless, I got a approval within 60days. What surprised me the most is that I got the maximum duration of Visa on my passport, which is the highest passport duration currently being issued as a Nigerian passport.
My take home in this Visa process is that simple applications are easy to get approval. Moreso a straight to the point SOP is key. I mentioned my background and skills in the SOP, this may also be of huge influence to my application.
I'm indeed grateful to God. Congratulations .pls which VAC did u send your passport to? |
