Nairalane: @fynest, i think it is high time you stopped posting ur words with purple color. Olastep made the point in his recent posts, which hitherto, i found dangerous and painstakinly unhealthy. It strains the eye a lot and attracts more eye lens concentration. In the long run, u ll be tired of reading on a system becos of the accentuated and increased radiation effects. There ar some oda cool colours out there if the popular black is dissatisfying you. Perhaps, Simplicity is Beauty.

I wish to correct something @finestboy. Why do you prefer to use all these faded colours? Why dont u use the normal colours? Or is it for show off?

Cos while i was evn reading ur posts on d other OAU thread n few others, it was realy bad. Some colours arent good for mobile-reading. Its strains the hell out of one's eyes. Thats how we have the normal black n white n blue colours. How i wish you change that!

@papindino.

wow. Thats lovely. Its awesome that you've begun budding your own self for whats you really want to achieve. Its also good to know how you've went well in this diversified and cosmopolitant society.

Seriously, This issue cannot be over-emphazied... No wonder, there's this popular saying that 'the grave is the most richest place in the world'. Many, i repeat, many came into this world and went without making any positive impart. They move along with the crowd. Their names are no where to be found. Why will that occur even if its not the will of God? God wants the best for us and why do we settle for less cos our society says so?

@all. Do not think that someday somehow somewhere your life gonna change. If you dont take any positive step and action, it just gonna be a rotating wheel on a spot. No one owes us anything. No one owes us any pleasure in life. Your parent's wealth will hardly drive us somewhere. I learnt that early in life. Life itself is Complication 101. Thank God, we have abled-parents but is that our fortress?
Coming to the Uni, you're bound to see alot of people. It pains me when i do ask some youths infact some of you here privately, about any great and new idea you had concieved and i'm being told the negative. How i wish you guys can be the best you really wanna be.

And dont think i'm here sprewing rubbish. I'm here living my fulfilling life happily. Infact, i'm more than happy. Those who're closer to me could testify.

I dont wanna be a mentor but i want to see you all shine also. Dont aim at the sky; aim at the stars, cos the moon has already been stepped by man.

Life is just tooooooooo short to live in the back-seat. God Bless us

papindinho: I chose to be an administrator to effect a modicum of change that would go a long way in curbing the ill-performance of business settings (public and private) as a result of series of mismanagement, abuse of power, misuse of office and maladministration that are seen as the cankerworm debilitating the progress of effective and efficient management in all sundry of business settings. And I've seen Nigerians suffer hell of maltreatment in the part of access to informations.
The system in the Public service is nothing to write home about and no one has been so commanding to correct such malpractices.
I am an advocate of Change and Justice/Impartiality. Being in the system will ensure transparency cum effective and efficient performance of personnel which is an afore to the significance of organizational perfomance.

Did you know that 13.1% of America populations are black? Did you also know that more than 50 percent of the black population live in the southern states? Did you also know that most North Dakota residents are of German descent? Did you know that New york city has the higest number of Jews in a geographical region outside Israel? Did you know that most Asian immigrants settle in the pacific rim? Did you also know that the USA owes China $1.4 trillion dollars in bonds and other securities and not $15 trillion as many claim? Did you also know that Japan is next in line as the second biggest creditor to the USA with a cumulative amount of over $1 trillion? Do you also know that NAFTA (You should know what that means) is one of the biggest undoings of the USA as trade deficits began to climb after the agreement was signed with Mexico and Canada? Do you also know that the USA have 11 aircraft carriers while Russia has 1 and France 1 with the rest of the world having none? Did you know California's economy is bigger than the whole of West Africa's economy put together? Do you know that Los Angeles is the only city in the USA that has no clear majority as no ethnic group (race) has up to 50 percent?

we all blame d govt*m also guilty of dat*of not progressin, buh d question nw is:wat av u done or wat are u doin to make Nigeria a better place??tho d govt r also guilty buh d citizen r d ones to determine if its gona get better or not.

Another problem facing Nigeria is d high rate of illiteracy, uninformed public, majority doesnt no their rights n duties as a citizens....so we all need a change,if all citizen could be conscious n enthusiastic abt everytin it will lead to a change in d govt. n Nigeria will be great!!

May GOD enlighten us all to do wat is right IJN.

Samtolly4JESUS: I cannot but acknowledge the ingenuity of our guys here (Olastep, Pappy And Phtemie).

CHANGE as you guys has rightly said can never be over emphasized.

Yea! True! Change starts from the Individual level!

However, I beg to add that CHANGE doesn't just occur in an Individual, it starts from a conscious effort.

It begins from the intuition, goes down to the subconscious mind, to the conscience, and finally reflects in the Behavior.

I pray that God Almighty should effect the Change the society needs In Us.

Oh God! ASUUhuh
...lol

You've said it.

Moreover, i dont think we're derailin' the thread. And if you have any enquiry concerning OAU, you may ask. My ogas wil answer it. Its evn better than an empty thread.

Dont worry about ASUU.

Actually, i recieved a call from ASUU president in Abuja. He asked about how i'm doing over here and complained that the FG has made everything worse. He told me he needs a break and that we both should travel to Dubai next week. Dont worry guys. We'll be back by Xmas to call off the strike. Til then, go learn work, even if na witchcraft, just learn am.... Who knows? We may start givin' u contracts against all our politicians... Hahahahahahahaha
EducationRe: 2013/2014 Obafemi Awolowo University ::ASPIRANTS:: by Olastep1(m): 12:28pm On Oct 03, 2013
phtemie: You just nailed it!

As you and pappidinho were having the discussion,I was busy nodding my head to the intellectually sound points I could deduce from your argument. But I couldn't help but comment due to the very smashing point you just made.

Corruption is a canker-worm that has eaten deep into the fabrics of all the sectors of the country,no doubt. But I've always argued that the change we need is "ourselves" just as you pinpointed.

This calls to mind President Obama's electioneering campaign slogan in 2008-"CHANGE".Obama admittedly attested that what Americans needed was change but on the other hand he convincingly argued the change they needed had to start from them.

I can vividly recall having a discourse with pappidinho about this particular issue. He countered my opinion with a quasi-postulation that the leadership position is occupied by a circle of perpetuators who keep perpetuating themselves and their sycophants into power..But I still believe the change starts from us,from our locality..We don't need to get to the realms of power to effect the change.

Just like You said, how many people can pridefully boast of their Ssce/jamb/p-jamb/ as a consequence of their hardwork?

I believe and I know for sure that we are the change we've all been clamouring for since time immemorial.

"Be the change that you wish to see In the world"_Mahatma Ghandi.

Morning people!..Ante-meridiem!
i could remember watching the clips of Pres. Obama Declaration of Change in 2008 and Forward in 2012.

Though i dislike making comparism but i would say the citizenry of this country is almost lost.

You wouldnt believe this. Not long ago; infact during this strike. Pikins @ our neighbourhood came over to our house to play. In the course of our plays, i got interested in the eldest among them and i asked her abt her just concluded common entrance exams to JSS1. She stylishly tel me it was 'fine'. But i pressured her abit until she narrated how a large scale malpractice was conducted. I begun to wonder how wil examiners and invigilators and teachers perform one of their cronic bad activities on the lives of these 8-year old children. I pity this contry. See how this girl was happy. How wil someone like that pray that 'God should favour the aftermath of such exam'. After a while i told the girl to keep quiet and i wanted to advice her. I couldnt complete a short sentence when she cuts in and started defending their nefarious activities. I refrained myself from landing her a dirty and superlacious slap she'l pass on to their generation. Now, this girl has the mentality that without malpractice, she cant pass her exams.

For those of you who has that same sickness in you and even has a higher version, i weep for you. If you're caught, you probably know the nxt steps. I have seen a couple of that in OAU evn in a 4-unit course. Infact, the professor you know wil tel you you're On Your Own (OYO). I'm not sayin' OAU is free of it, but those who do it use styles. You can goggle up the styles. Hahahahahahaha and if you're caught by a snipers eye. Come and share your testimonies here which wil be officiated by prophet Samtolly.

Above all.

Let the Change you seek be YOU.

Ciao

Seriously now,

It all starts from Me and You.

Lets even leave Politics.

How many of you here are proud of your results or admission? How many here wrote his/her Jamb without looking left and right? How many here wrote his/her Post-Utme without asking or giving out answers from those beside you?
How many here can boldly say he/she didnt whisper to somebody in his Jamb/Putme exam hall?

I know your consience is hurting you! Likewise, i'm not judging you.

Please be sincere. Its not good. What is not good is not good. Have a change of heart today and tomorrow we all will be proud of each other.

papindinho: You could rightly note what I said about revolution not necessarily be violent. I was not talking about protest or something of such.
remembered the fuel subsidy protest? Where were you then? Remembered what happened in Kano and Lagos and most states?
I pinpointed the change in mentality and thoughts about having a conscious national belongingness which endears all sundry in making decisions in the best interest of the state by being JUST as against having ethnic/religious/class consciousness.

I furthered the release of the steam by noting the need for proper reorientation as to what an average Nigerian's mindset should be about governance.

You've rightly mentioned the major change needed in all spheres of government institution be it Judicial system who are to enable effective and unbias Judicial system where no decision is waved in favour of one class over the other but things are well analysed and justified the way they supposed to be. All public servants should embark on proper accountability to curb the social vices that has gone viral in the system.

That's the shift we need, that's the revolution. A local government should hold the chairman responsible for all his action and should be made to face the heat if involved in any maladministrative measures and so be it at other levels of government.

The sensitiveness/awareness is important that no class will be left out between the literates and the illiterates.

It's not all about taking to the street because of Jonathan.
yeah! You're 101% correct.

Infact, when i see some so-called fathers, i think they're worst than Abacha. Some cant keep a small family happy yet they keep blaming Pa Jona in Aso rock.

Anyway, all nations cant be equal. If this is how God wants Nigeria to be, so be it. But if anybody wanna stand on my way, make God catapult that person to Maiduguri
