Now, let me talk about Security in OAU#.

Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife is an highly secured place. It has zero tolerance for thieves, cultists, trouble-makers, 'harrassers' etc.

Students do walk around even in the dead of the night and i havent heard of any harrassment or bully whatsoever. You're free to wake up in your room and trek to academics even by 1 am. Infact, no fear whatsoever!.

As you know, the Student's Union has been proscribed. We only have a Transition Committee and a Security Committee. Election is schedule to hold next semester. Na prof Omole(VC) talk am o.

We had some alleged theives paraded round all the hostels including the female halls by the security committee. They were mercilessly beaten even by those small pikins in moz. I cant describe the pains they went through even the so called big-bois#

Last semester, non of my tangible properties got lost though i'm one of the very few luckiest. Many phones, laptops, clothes, yam, bra, shoes, tooth, pants, infact human beings got stolen last semester.

I cant shout o o

Sincerly, OAU is a nice place.

There's hardly any difference between the rich and the poor; the old and the young; the christians and the moslem; the tall and the short.

We do play together, chat together, mix together and then read together.

In my room for example, we do respect eachother alot, so also, everyother places.

Thats why OAU is unique.

It's got no alternative.

Tell mummy and daddy you'll be secured in OAU. But u've got to be smart enough though. Remember, its a society on its own accord#.

I rate it 85% secured.

hmmmmmmm. Actually, MOZ 101 is a practical course carrying 5 units. Compulsory for all freshers.

Its cool to some sha. U knw its in front of both male and female freshers hostel. So, its like a hang-out. In the evening/night, peeps go there to relax under the trees and moreover its a car park. The landscape there is good anyway. So, any tété-a-tété is allowed!. I no fit talk d rest o o o

Well,

Its a kinda of Flirtatious culture that has really gained ground in OAU in which the MOZ occupants(mostly freshers) are the prey maybe because they're New and Gullible.

The staylites should have more say into this...
how u take knw all these...? I fear u o o o

Let us talk about Electricity and Security now!

Obafemi Awolowo University[OAU] has got a very stable and fairly relaible power. It is not as poor as your various villages(dont mind me, my village is in maiduguri).

Sincerly, you dont really need to bother about how to iron your cloths, charge your phones to cal your girlfriends!. OAU has a hydro-electric dam which is very functional. Hardly wil any UNI in Nigeria beat that.

My 'ba' is always red before i charge it(same as my roommates). We now have to queue our phones to charge. Most times funny and annoying.

Though, we've got some power outages last semester(we stil dey naija nau), i can say we had 95% stability.

So, wen you want to resume, you dont evn need any extra nokia battery. The funny thing is dat i just bought a charger during this break/strike.

My room (same as others) has 2 mercury-light bulbs and 2 good small ceiling fans. No wonder, OAU guys are fresh. If u see me sef, u don see freshness. Hahahahahahahaha

Our theaters are fairly lit. Though many are poorly litted. The faculty of law recently did a great job by adequately lightening everywhere in d fac. Our streets are also fairly ok during the night.

But notwithstanding, you need a lamp. Yeah. Its good. Sometimes, we dare ourselves to go to poorly litted areas to read cos students wont be many there. Therefore, we use lamps. Or maybe incase of 'incasity'.

So, to those of you who are likely to purchase lanterns next session. Becareful o o o. No come spoil our air. Olastep sef go stand gidigba to seize dem.

Kudos to OAU
Above all, there is still need for improvement.

Greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Ife!!!....

* Next is Security.... *

...new update....

As most of you may know.... Obafemi Awolowo University has a total of nine(9) halls, u can cal it hostels.
8 of them are for undergraduates while 1 is for the postgraduates.
Lets talk about Undergraduates.

The male category for undergraduates are Angola Hall, Awolowo Hall, Fajuyi Hall and ETF Hall.
The female category for undergraduates are Mozambique Hall, Alumni Hall, Moremi Hall and Akintola Hall.

They have a standard capacity of 10000 students though unofficialy it extends to more than 15000.

The closest male hall to the academics is Fajuyi Hall. The closest female halls is Moremi Hall and Akintola Hall.

Transportation by bus by the main roads is #10. While by motorcycle (okada) anywhere in the school is #40.

Each of this Halls has Reading rooms. They are also managed by the Hall masters and porters. The male Halls also has Viewing centres open 24/7 free of charge.

In Angola Hall, there are 12 official occupants in each room, though my room has 4 more unofficial(one of the lowest). Awolowo Hall has 8 official occupants +8 mostly. Fajuyi Hall has 6 official occupants +4 mostly. ETF Hall has 8 official occupants +2 mostly.
Dont ask me about the female Halls. Omo jesu ni mi o o o

List of Artistes who performed various times in OAU last semester:

Lace, Black Magic, Dammykrane, Sean Tizzle and May D —Etisalat

Parma Percy Paul — Baptist Student Fellowship [BSF]

There were so many stage shows by OAU artistes especially during etisalat promo draw in which a guy won a picato car. What you may probably not know is that the student (fisayo) who won it is actualy the second draw winner. The first draw winner was reported to be writing a test in Chem Engr LT thereby nullifying his luck that day!.

There are other christian shows organised by University Joint Christian Mission [UJCM], a christian body comprising of more than 26 fellowships on campus.

So, many drama presentations @d Pit theater. Invited to many but never went. Infact, i had a bulk of dramatic arts [DA] students as roommates and blockmates. Alfa Sule is a regular visitor to DA dept. Heard d rumor he's a diploma student of DA.

But sincerly as an advice, most of this shows 'kill' students. They are done at the Amphitheater. Done in the night and stretched till 3-4am. Then, you'l have a 7am lecture. 'Dangerous', i say.

jj9ice: i think we need experience Oau staylite student here to enlight people that chosed OAU as their both 1st and 2nd choice without meeting their 1st but meet the 2nd choice cut-off marks and those that choose them as 2nd and meet the 2nd choice. I think u cant just write them off because OAU intensionally invite 2nd choice for post utme and there must be provision for them during admission process weather jamb forward their data or not since they have done that during post utme registion. But im just not sure about those that choice OAU as both 1st and 2nd choice because it may be only first that is processed and registerd during post utme registration. Pls let find the truth b4 we advise and comment
....to be best of my knowledge and also an experience as a 2nd choice candidate. Its probably true OAU like most uni doesnt take cognizant of 2nd choice. You've got to work for the admission yourself if you're in that position. Dont expect to seat at home and be 'hopeful' that you'll be that lucky. Last year admission, a guy who has the best postutme score of about 334 didnt even find his name on the eportal as being granted admission. Nobody even knows his fate. Ask other stalites. If you're below the cut-off or catchment mark as a 1st choice, start preparing for connections. Same also applies to 2nd choice, either above or below or exactly cut-off or catchment score.
