An angry mob on Wednesday set ablaze a suspected member of a gang of serial rapists that had terrorised Ughelli and its neighbouring communities in Delta State. No fewer than four ladies, including the wife of a popular hotelier in the metropolis, had been raped by the gang of rapists in the last two weeks. One of the victims lost her life in the process. The group, according to residents, specialises in raping and attacking salesgirls and middle-aged women. Luck, however, ran out on the suspected member of the group on Wednesday when he allegedly attempted to rape a salesgirl (name withheld) at the Adagharagba Junction near the Ughelli Central Market. He was said to have been apprehended by the residents. It was gathered that the suspect was apprehended by a mob at about 11.30am when he attempted to rape the salesgirl. A resident, who witnessed the incident, told our correspondent that there had been a lot of killings and rape by a group of young men who targeted salesgirls and female traders within Ughelli and its environs. The source noted that the suspected rapist had confessed that he was a member of a three-member gang that raped salesgirls and female traders in the community. The suspect, who hailed from Oroahakpor community in Ethiope-West Local Government Area of the state, reportedly said other members of the gang fled on sighting the mob. Another eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said, “The hoodlums pretended to be customers buying things in bulk and that was why they were allowed to enter the store. The next thing we heard was the screaming of the salesgirl and we immediately rushed in only to see that that she had been attacked; she was bleeding. “The mob pursued the suspects, who had fled the scene. They caught up with one of them at the Omotor Junction, where he was set ablaze before the arrival of security agents.” The salesgirl, while recounting her ordeal at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Ughelli Central Hospital where she was receiving treatment, said the suspects came under the guise of wanting to purchase items from the store. She said, “One of them hit me on the head and I screamed.I was rescued by a male neighbour, who rushed to the shop, after the suspects had fled the scene.” It was later gathered that another member of the group was arrested along Market Road by policemen from the Ughelli Police Division. The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, SP Celestina Kalu, said she had not been briefed on the incident. http://punchng.com/suspected-serial-rapist-set-ablaze-delta/

Members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly on Wednesday held their plenary on a major roundabout in Okesa to protest what they said was a witch-hunt against Governor Ayodele Fayose by the Federal Government. The legislators conducted their business under a canopy while the area was cordoned off by a detachment of armed policemen who blocked one side of the two lanes. They accused Lagos lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu, of being the brains behind a plot to remove Fayose from office. They claimed that both Falana and Ojudu had ambitions of becoming the governor of the state. The Speaker of the Assembly, Kola Oluwawole, said the lawmakers embarked on the “sit out to tell the whole world that we are determined and resolute to support Fayose.” He alleged that 10 of the legislators had been listed for arrest on Thursday based on “trumped-up charge of not having valid certificates to contest election as Assembly members”. He added, “No amount of blackmail will make us to do dirty job, we are calling on the APC led government to leave Fayose alone. The freezing of his account is condemnable. “We are aware of plans to arrest 10 members of Ekiti State House of Assembly, we are ready for arrest. We stand by Fayose, enough is enough. Let there be peace in Ekiti, let Abuja leave Fayose alone.” The Committee Chairman on Health, Samuel Omotoso, accused the Federal Government of “flippancy and double standards” in its prosecution of anti-corruption war, saying the legislators were ready for arrest. “There are double standards and flippancy in the so-called anti-corruption war. When you are in PDP, you are a demon but when you run to APC, you become a saint,” he said. http://punchng.com/ekiti-lawmakers-back-fayose-move-sitting-highway/

The trial of Azibaola Robert, a cousin to former President Goodluck Jonathan began on Tuesday, with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, presenting its first witness, Ibrahim Mahe who gave account of how he transferred $40m to ‘One Plus Holdings Nigeria Limited’, a company owned by Robert. Azibaola and his wife, Stella, are standing trial before Justice Nnamdi O. Dimgba of the Federal High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja, for seven counts bordering on money laundering, criminal breach of trust and corruption. Mahe, a retired permanent secretary, special services in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, while being led in evidence by counsel for the EFCC, Sylvanus Tahir, told the court that he did not know Azibaola and Stella personally but knew ‘One Plus Holdings’ through a transaction. The witness said on August 20, 2014, Dasuki told him to pay $40m into the account of One Plus Holdings for reasons unknown. He said, “on August 20, 2014, the National Security Adviser endorsed a memo to me which originated from the Office of the Director of Finance and Administration of the ONSA detailing the bank details of one company called ‘One Plus’ and the purpose for which the company was to be paid a sum of $40m. “The NSA instructed me to prepare payment and I prepared the payment mandate for the $40m in favour of ‘One Plus’ for the signature of the NSA. I sent it to the NSA, he signed and sent it back to me and subsequent action was for me to counter-sign the mandate and then send it to the Central Bank of Nigeria for Payment.” Mahe had earlier told the court that his responsibilities involved matters that had to do with the ONSA. He said that the Special Services Office responsibilities in relation with the ONSA had to do with matters relating to finances of the entire intelligence community which included the Department of State Services, National Intelligence Agency and ONSA. According to him, permanent secretary, Special Security Office was responsible for co-ordination of the annual budget of the members of the intelligence community. “After formulating the budget, the Accountant General releases the funds of the intelligence community through an account that is domiciled with the Special Security Office from where it is distributed to the various end users,” Mahe added. He told the court that his office served as a warehouse for funds of the ‘Intelligence Community’ and went further to explain how funds were utilised. “When funds get into the account, the NSA is informed of the arrival of the funds and proposal on the distribution to the various agencies is made to him. When he approves, the monies are sent to the end users,” said Mahe. The judge adjourned the case till July 4 and 5, 2016 for continuation of trial. http://punchng.com/dasuki-said-give-jonathans-cousin-40m-witness/

The most populous black nation on earth has been found to have the best and the most cultured men and fathers in the world. Despite the economic hardship that is prevalent in a third world nation like Nigeria, many have closely observed the commitment of the Nigerian man and Father to provide and protect for his immediate family. • A Nigerian father is the last to go to bed in the home. He sits in the living room listening to news and ensuring the country is still a safe abode for the family. • He gets up at intervals to check if all the gates and doors are properly locked. He checks the kitchen to be sure everything is in place, the cooking gas is off and locked, the backdoor is locked and there are no funny sounds from around the backdoor area, store or kitchen cabinet. · We don’t have 911 to call in Nigeria or security gadgets installed in the home to alert police when there is a break-in. • Nigerian men guard and protect their homes with intuition. Interesting what people have to go through in a third world nation that has refused to grow. • He makes sure the bigger generator has enough fuel to run till about 12midnight while the air conditioner is on in the room so the room can be cozy for wife and kids. • He is up at 1am to change to the small generator because of fuel While changing to the small generator, he is looking around to still be sure there are no intruders in the premises and that the barking dog outside is not of serious concern. • He goes to bed and is awake at 5:00am to switch over to the big generator so the family can boil water to bath, kids can use the micro wave for school and the pumping machine is on for water. Puts on the TV to check the news and be sure that the country he left to go to bed the night before is still the same country he is waking up to. No bombing around the city, Fulani herdsmen have not invaded neighboring communities and the Naija delta avengers haven’t decided to fire their arsenal into the city area. Although we know we are not as romantic as the men of the western world, but you must also understand that it is difficult to be a security man, a generator operator and a provider for the family and still look like Denzel Washington and act like George Clooney. We will get better in the area of romance and care; we are working at it seriously. Once APC starts delivering on the change they promised you will enjoy our steady uninterrupted romance. This is wishing you a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY SIRE! God bless you and grant you favor. I pray that He will put speed to the actualization of your dreams and projects in Jesus name. Amen! |

• At inauguration, Fayose quoted N86bn as Ekiti debt. He later put it at N96bn, 68bn and now N31bn, but DMO in federal Ministry of Finance said it is N18b. • He later pleaded with Fayemi that that is how to play politics. N5 billion out of this has been paid by the Federal Government it was after this Fayose took another N21.6 billion loan •Fayose's wage bill is N1.7b and not N2.6b after he cancelled Fayemi YCAD scheme, 20,000 elderly social security scheme, 10,000 Youth Volunteers, 300 EKSTMA, 800 Peace corps at 50 per local government. What has Fayose done with monthly Allocation from the Federal Government totaling 20 months now? What has Fayose done with Money he obtained from Banks under Corporate Social Responsibility? How much? Only Fayose knows! • Average monthly retirement per month in civil service is 50. In 20 months, that's 1000 retirees from the service, yet Fayose claims to be paying N2.6 billion till now! • Fayose claimed that he discovered 500 ghost workers yet his wage bill remains the same! • Fayemi engaged close to 1,000 Political appointees, but Fayose has less than 100 and he has not made any new recruitment into the service Fayose takes N250 milion naira monthly as security vote which he doesn't spend on security! •He will never disclose that he has ever collected local government allocations from Abuja, which he has been collecting but has refused to pay LG workers for four months. • Fayemi paid September salary of LGA before leaving office and only owed teachers and civil servants one (1) month salary because Fayose threatened the banks not to pay •Fayemi's loans did not affect LGA federal allocation so why is Fayose owing Local Government workers 4 months salary? EKITI DEBTS • Fayose vowed never to borrow a kobo during his tenure and condemns Fayemi for borrowing beyond his tenure, Fayose has also borrowed N21.6 billion beyond his tenure exposing him as a hypocrite and liar! See Details below: a. N2billion CBN SME Micro credit loan approved by Adewale Ominrin led Assembly meant for artisans and Farmers which he didn’t give anybody b. N9.6billion bailout (70% of which he pocketed) c. N10 billion loan which he was supposed to use to pay workers salary but which he diverted to building a flyover so that he can embezzle money Total = N21.6 billion • Fayemi took loans to be paid within 7years (with 2018 as terminal date) as against Fayose's claim of 2036 to fund some regenerative projects like Ire Burnt Bricks, Civic Centre, Ikogosi Resort and Ero Dam, Ekiti Parapo Square (Pavillion), Oba Adejugbe General Hospital, a befitting Government House at Oke Ayoba, Funmilayo Olayinka Wellness and Cancr centre at EKSUTH et.c •Ekiti loan repayment is tied to IGR with average deduction of N450m and maximum of N650 but Fayose lied that N1.2billion is deducted monthly! • Fayose claims he collects N250m IGR monthly even though it is higher than that, in 20 months, that is N5bn. Fayose where is the money? •Which government account does Fayose pay Ekiti IGR? IGR is paid into secret accounts only known to him •He collected N5.2b Ecological fund but he has denied this till date even though Dayo Adeyeye as Works Minister under Jonathan confirmed this to the whole world! • Fayose received refunds on roads totalling N22.2bn as audited and published in 2013 financial statements by Fayemi but Fayose denied! • Fayose received N9.6bn bailout which was supposed to clear all outstanding salaries including, union deductions of N450m, severance package of N500m, furniture allowance of political appointees of N350m, Pensions and gratuities of N2.8bn and Leave Bonus and others. He never paid anyone! • He received September 2014 allocation of N3bn for state and N2.1 for LGAS. Why did he need bailout again? • How then did Fayose spend the bailout when primary school teachers, pensioners and political appointees have not been paid? • What did Fayose do with the revenue from sale and lease of the following government properties: ? · Sale of government vehicles · Leasing of Ikogosi Warm Springs to his cronies · What is happening in Ire Burnt Bricks now? · Leasing of Abuja NANET SUITES · Sale of market stalls built with government money across the state Fayose where are all these monies? We have facts to show that Fayose can conveniently pay three months salary but he is deliberately punishing Ekiti workers. Fayose, why are you doing this to teachers and civil servants who supported you so much and heralded your second coming? Where is the 5 % percent statutory allocation for Obas which should be a first line charge? Why do you owe Kabiyesis arrears of salaries? Fayose is the first Governor to flash workers their salary through false alerts in banks just to show in his fake record that he has paid. This is wickedness of the highest order! EKITI PEOPLE SHINE YOUR EYES AND SHARPEN YOUR BRAINS! FAYOSE HAS BEEN FOOLING YOU! Courtesy : Committee For Ekiti Rebirth |

In Zimbabwe, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $20.00 each. The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $20.00, and as supply started to diminish, the villagers reduced their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at $30.00. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $40.00 each and the supply of monkeys became so little that it took so much effort to even see a monkey, let alone catch it! The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at $100.00! However, since he had to go to Jo'burg on some business, his assistant would now buy on his behalf. In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers, "Look at all these monkeys in this big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them to you at $80, and when the man returns from the city, you can sell them to him for $100.00 each." The villagers came together with all their savings and bought all the monkeys. Then they never saw the man or his assistant, only monkeys everywhere! Aquariann:Really, you seemed so sure l wrote this myself. Why would I do that? I am happily married with a fantastic and beautiful woman and a lovely son. I respect women and I am always on their side when it comes to gender issues. What is my gain by making up such a story? The question is what is a big deal or difficult in learning from others mistakes? Must you see everything in feminine side of thought? I am very much aware some men could be terrible but the truth is that many family problems are started by women. The only reason I uploaded this story was for others to read and learn. Who knows, this might save a few. |

A FRIEND WROTE; I am writing to you in order to make someone understand that it's good to appreciate our partners despite their flaws. I am 32 years old. My ex hubby & I dated for six years. We where best of friends, I waited until he completed college and started work, my family and his family then met, we got married and had a son. (7 years old now). My husband was short tempered at times, but our problems started when I wanted to make him feel he couldn't control me. Every time we argued, I would pack my bags, go to my family and explain. My sisters would phone my husband and shout at him. If he was controlling me I would always dare him that if he wished, he could divorce me. I never wanted divorce, I just had pride and I never wanted to look like a loose woman in his eyes. One day I pushed him so hard that for the first time he beat me and locked me outside. I went to my family, my family took him to the police, every time I looked like I was being abused! But to be honest, I used to abuse my husband emotionally. He was arrested and detained. I was asked by his family to withdraw the case, I felt that what I was doing was wrong. My husband was never a violent man, he did what he did because I pushed him to the wall of which he openly knelt down and apologized. I withdrew the charge, and we reconciled. After three months, I packed my bags after a small issue, and he remained alone. After two days I received a call that he was in the hospital, my family told me that I shouldn't go there because it would look like I was begging him, and my sisters believed he was feigning the illness. All this time, people felt sorry for me like I was the one being abused. He spent a week in the hospital, after he came out, I just received a divorce summon. I wanted to say no to divorce, but because I felt this pride, I wanted him to change his mind and beg me. I called him and said he would get the divorce because I lived like I was in hell. When we went to court, I wanted to make him pay, so I told the court that I needed his properties to be shared. To my surprise he openly told the court that whatever he and I acquired together should be given to me, all he wanted was divorce. We were divorced in 2009 July. Now, this Saturday (today) my husband is marrying, whilst l am here wasted! My family members are gossiping about me, I depend on what my ex gives to my son for survival. I know I wasted my marriage. I am here telling all wives that they should be careful how they get advise. Don't be cheated, don't entertain family interference in your marriage my dear reader. A teenage girl who acted as a "honeytrap" in the murder of a smitten 16-year-old has been locked up for a minimum of 10 years. Samantha Joseph, 17, led Shakilus Townsend into an ambush in a quiet cul de sac where he was beaten by a love rival and his gang with baseball bats and stabbed six times. The teenager bled to death after the "relentless and merciless attack" by a masked and hooded gang in Thornton Heath, south London, in July last year. Joseph, who was 15 at the time, laughed as the gang caught up with him, walking away as they began their assault. Her older boyfriend, Danny McLean, plunged a knife into Shakilus's chest, raking it across his liver before twisting the blade. As he lay bleeding to death, Shakilus, from Deptford, south-east London, called out for his mother and cried: "I don't want to die." Joseph, and McLean, 18, from Thornton Heath, were found guilty of murder alongside five other youths in July. They were all given life terms today as Shakilus's mother, Nicola Dyer, wept at the back of the court. Joseph, from Brockley, south London, was ordered detained for a minimum of 10 years. McLean is to serve a minimum of 15 years. The judge, Richard Hawkins, told the gang: "You left him to die a lonely death, crying for his mother." Nicola Dyer, 34, said in a statement read to the court by a lawyer: "The reality that these young people with no souls had such a disregard for life that they deliberately conspired to use manipulation to cause nothing short of destruction is absolutely soul-destroying for me. "They should never again be allowed to destroy another family. I may forgive them one day, but not today." Andre Thompson, 17, from Norwood, south-east London, was given a minimum of 14 years. Sentences of at least 12 years were given to former public schoolboy and London Irish rugby player Andre Johnson-Haynes, 18, from Croydon, south London; brothers Tyrell Ellis, 19, and Don-Carlos Ellis, 18, of Thornton Heath; and Michael Akinfenwa, 18, from Norwood. Hawkins said Joseph had "come under the malign influence" of McLean. As the male defendants were led from the court they made defiant noises that were echoed by their supporters in the public gallery. The court heard that Shakilus had been besotted with Joseph and told his mother he wanted to marry her, but she told friends she was just using him and treated him like "shit". While Joseph was happy for him to shower her with gifts, she was still obsessed with McLean, who had dumped her when he found out about her relationship with Shakilus. She was prepared to do anything to get McLean back and he told her: "If you still love me, will you set up Shak?" She agreed. CCTV footage from the day of the murder showed Joseph wearing a see-through floral dress as she met Shakilus and took a bus with him. He thought they were on their way to meet her cousin but in fact she was leading him into the ambush while secretly keeping in touch with McLean by mobile phone. Brian Altman QC, prosecuting, said: "She agreed to set up the hapless Shakilus Townsend in a honeytrap with a lethal and tragic twist. "She was more than equal to the task. She played her part to perfection, duping Shakilus who could see no wrong in her, the others in hot pursuit of him." After the murder, Joseph was seen walking off with McLean, carrying his hoodie and a cream-coloured handbag stained with his blood from an injury sustained during the murder. She later tried to "rub out" all traces of her relationship with Shakilus, deleting his online Bebo account and telling friends to erase his number from their phones. Detective Inspector Barney Ratcliffe said: "Knife crime will only end up in this sort of tragedy when a young lad is killed because he loves a girl – the wrong girl in this case." http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2009/sep/04/shakilus-townsend-honeytrap-murder-sentence |
