Peaceful dialogue

Two women in the compound had a quarrel. Their husbands, being home, came to see what the matter was. Whether out of too much wisdom or too much foolishness, (e g. I must defend my wife or I can't take this from your type), the two men inherited the fight. After using mere words and hands to fight, they decided to be "manly" and looked for weapons, (chairs, shovels, bottles etc.) The women got scared and ran inside to start shouting and screaming and pleading. But no! Anger was on the throne and satan was blowing the whistle. Before long, they injured each other in dangerous places. Blood flowed, tension rose, fear soared and still more bleeding. Yet, they both refused to let go or separate. Before long, one of them slumped owing to fatigue and excessive bleeding. He died. Soon, the other fell too. Other tenants came out and rushed him to the hospital. Doctors swung into action. He lived a few more hours. Before night, he too died !
Same day, two corpses and two widows. Both of them had children. The children had fathers in the morning but became fatherless before night. The men were not sick, not poisoned, not in road accidents, not covid19 cases, not police accidental shooting, not armed robbers or '1million boys' attack. Just anger! "How can you insult my wife! My wife! Iyawo mi!" "Mata na!"
"My husband, don't let them take us for a ride, never!". Now what a shame; what a regret; what a waste!!!
My people, please, let's learn and be more patient anger has no positive benefit the result is regret. Prevention is far better than cure! Try n maintain peace. Stay safe!.

FUTURE TEARS (EKÚN OLA)

Our boys whom we sent to the universities to study are now living in hotels doing "Yahoo", defrauding people.

They are not studying. They are "sorting". Bribing lecturers to pass.

They only come to campus in convoys once in a while to show off. Guess what?

Some lecturers are even worshipping them.

Our teenage sons are now driving Benz Cars in the university. They are now "happening guys" on campus.

The houses our sons in universities are living in now are flats and duplexes as against the self-contained that we used to know.

Well furnished and so beautiful like the home of some state governors.

Our sons are all married in the university but single at home.

Girls swarm around them... living with them, cooking for them, doing all sorts of things with them and for them.....

These girls are our daughters whom we sent to the universities to study.

They are in every club and hotel in town....they are found in front of exotic cars, fastening seatbelts, taking selfies, recording short videos and moving their tongues and lips like DOGS.

My recent research in Nigerian universities opened my eyes to this current ugly reality. I wept for the future.

These are teenagers, not even adults.
Guess what?

We still see them as children who know nothing.

I don't want to mention names of hotels in IBADAN, LAGOS, IJEBU-ODE, ABEOKUTA, AKURE, EKITI, OSOGBO, ILE-IFE, ILESHA, IKIRUN etc where you will see your sons and daughters. They have been living there for weeks if not months.

They are not going to school. "Who school help?" Don't you get it?

These teenagers— boys and girls are abusing drugs. Not just hemp (igbo) but cocaine, tramadols and other terrible ones.

I had once boarded a vehicle with a young girl in AGO-IWOYE who had some crack (cocaine) in her purse.

For a reason l did not know, the police officer that stopped us for a search didn't search her but searched every other passenger.

On the way, she brought out a drug, gently sniffed some and threw out the remaining through the window.

I looked at her and paused, she also paused; both of us paused. I remained deaf and dumb until I got to my destination.

Who will save this generation who painfully are our tomorrow and future of this country?

YAHOO: THE JOURNEY OF DOOM

Internet fraud or cybercrime otherwise known as Yahoo-Yahoo has become the cover-up for all shades of crimes & sudden, unexplained wealth in our society.

People do money rituals - they call it Yahoo
They engage in fraud - they say it's Yahoo
Drug & human trafficking - they hide under Yahoo
They empty people's bank accounts - its Yahoo
They kidnap for ransom - they say it's Yahoo
Indulge in armed robbery - they tag it Yahoo

When the Yahoo menace started some years back, the whole society embraced it with open arms. Everyone applauded & enabled it through various means, because none of us was at the receiving end.

Mu-sick-cians & entertainers promoted & supported it. Religious clerics aided it with charms & prayers. Bad governance, corruption, unemployment & poverty escalated it.

Parents encouraged their kids to join, taking them to clerics for charms & spiritual support. And their mothers got overly proud of their children's crimes to the point that they formed the "Yahoo Boys Mothers Association".

Kids bring their ill-gotten wealth home, buy cars, build houses for their parents & the parents pat them on their backs, urging them to do more.

Social media became the ground for fraudsters to show off their extravagant lifestyles, luxurious cars & stupendous wealth. This earned them millions of fans/followers across their various platforms.

People's regard for education, hardwork & legitimate means of livelihood consequently reached an all-time low. The love of money & the desperation to make it by all means skyrocketed to unprecedented heights in our society.

"In this life, just make money", "if u no get money hide ur face" became the mantra in our homes, on the streets, our songs, social media & on every tongue.

And today, children (as young as age 14) & adults in multitudes have continued to throng into all forms of heinous crimes for money, including heartless killings & the use of human parts for rituals. All these under the guise of Yahoo.

The scripture said, "the love of money is the root of all evil", but humans said, "NO! money makes the world go round". And now our world is spinning out of control & everyone is feigning shock & ignorance - asking "how did we get to this level of evil?"

The chickens have come home to roost & the society is helpless about it. Everyone is asking, "how did we get here?" Needless to say, the entire society is culpable, from the government, to the clerics, the parents, children & the citizenry. Everyone failed in their responsibilities.

The journey from Yahoo to doom had already gone far, how do we retrace our steps back to when the love of humanity mattered most? - And not the love of money & material things.
