ALMUSTAQIM: *Assalaam Alaekum Wa Rrahmatullah Wa Barakatuh*
Ramadhaan 1447/2026 Day 02
*Common Questions and Answers*
Q1: Is it permissible to recite the Quran from a physical book or a phone during Taraweeh prayers?⁉️
A: Yes, it is permissible. Please note however that it is not permissible to recite the Quran from a physical book or a phone during obligatory prayers.
Q2: Is there a difference between Taraweeh prayers and night prayers?⁉️
A: Taraweeh prayers and night prayers are the same, but night prayers in Ramadan are called Taraweeh because they are performed collectively and breaks are taken between the units.
Q3: Can I pray Taraweeh prayers separately after Ishai due to work commitments?⁉️
A: Yes, it is permissible. Taraweeh prayers can be performed at any time between Isha and Fajr, either individually or collectively. It doesn't have to be immediately after Ishai
Q4: Is it permissible for a woman who has memorized the Quran to lead her husband and children in prayers and where should she stand if allowed?⁉️

Q5: Can I recite shorter chapters during Taraweeh prayers?⁉️
A: Yes, it is permissible.
Q: Is it permissible to pray again at night after Taraweeh and Witr prayers?⁉️

Q: Is it permissible to recite the Quran without applying the rules of Tajweed?⁉️
A: Yes, it is permissible, but reciting with Tajweed is better and more rewarding. Care should be taken to avoid mistakes in pronunciation and articulation.
Q: Is it valid to complete the Quran by reading from a phone?⁉️
A: Yes, it is valid. Recitation is permissible from memory, a physical Quran, or a phone.
Q: Does reciting the Quran from a phone carry the same reward as reciting from a physical Quran?⁉️
A: With the permission of Allah, reciting the Quran earns the reward of reciting every letter with tenfold rewards. The essence lies in recitation and contemplation. However, the physical Quran holds greater reverence in the heart and those around you may be influenced by your actions.
Q: Does reciting the Quran with just the eyes earn the same reward as reciting with the tongue?⁉️
A: To earn the reward of recitation, it is necessary to move the tongue and lips. Simply looking at the Quran or reciting it in the heart does not count as recitation; it's merely a thought.
Q: Do I need to raise my voice during recitation to earn the reward?⁉️
A: It is not necessary to raise your voice; the requirement is to move your tongue and lips, even if your voice is low.
Ramadan Kareem, Ramadan Mubarak. Alhamdulillahi, I really learn a lot from this wonderfully Q/A. |
Islam › Re: Signs Of Allah In Birds by Ologuntere(m): 2:09pm On Dec 26, 2025 |
ALMUSTAQIM: Assalaam Alaekum Wa Rrahmatullah Wa Barakatuh
*Signs of Allah in Birds*
Indeed, within the heavens and the earth are signs (ayat) for the believers." (Quran 45:3)
Allah says in the Holy Quran:
"Do they not see the birds suspended in mid-air up in the sky? Nothing holds them there except Allah. There are certainly Signs in that for people who have faith." (Surat an-Nahl: 79)
A bird uses great energy when it takes flight because it has to lift all its body with its tiny wings. Yet, once it is up in the air, Allah has made it easy for it to remain aloft without expending too much effort. Birds can fly for a long time by allowing themselves to rely on the wind. This way, they hardly tire since they consume very little energy. When the effect produced by the wind diminishes, they begin to flap their wings again. By means of this feature Allah has given birds, they can cover very long distances and migrate to remote destinations.
It is interesting that birds' legs, so slender and little in comparison to their bodies, can carry their entire bodies. It is amazing that so many muscles, veins and nerves can exist in such a slender leg! If birds' legs were thicker and relatively more bulky, it would be more difficult for them to fly.
Almost all birds sleep on one leg. This does not upset their balance since their body weight is concentrated on this one leg. Allah has created birds with the features that enable them to maintain such a delicate balance.
The eyes of water fowl have been created for clear underwater vision. While we can't keep our eyes open underwater for even 45 seconds, water birds can easily catch insects and molluscs in water as they plunge their heads into it. Since this is the only way for them to feed themselves, they must have clear vision underwater. For this reason, Allah has created a special structure in their eyes, which permits seeing underwater.
_فَتَبَارَكَ ٱللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ ٱلْخَالِقِينَ_ "So, Blessed be Allah, The Best to Create" (Qur. 23, V..14)
We Pray Allah to to continue to Guard and Guide us Aright, Protect us, Have Mercy on us. Increase us in Knowledge Sustenance and Piety and Enable become better MUSLIMS, better NIGERIANS.
Happy Jumaat, Happy Weekend. Alhamdulillahi, for counting me among the believers |

Islam › Re: The Distraction Of Phones In The House Of Allah by Ologuntere(m): 3:07pm On Dec 13, 2024 |
Lukgaf: This week, I want us to reflect on how deeply obsessed we have become with our phones—even to the point of bringing them into the mosque. This obsession has reached a level where it distracts us during acts of worship, diminishing the sanctity of our relationship with Allah.
Imagine this: In front of a parent, teacher, or elder, we dare not press our phones, knowing it is a sign of disrespect. Similarly, no one would check their emails or scroll through social media while standing before a judge in court. Yet, we find it acceptable to do this in the house of Allah, the Lord of the Worlds. Where is the fear and reverence due to Allah?
It is now common to see people, right after the Tasleem (concluding the prayer), immediately take out their phones to check WhatsApp messages or emails instead of engaging in Adhkar (remembrance of Allah). Worse still, during the Friday Khutbah, a sacred moment when we are commanded to be silent and attentive, many are distracted by their devices.
This behavior contradicts the essence of Ihsaan, as described by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: "Ihsaan is to worship Allah as though you see Him, for even though you do not see Him, He sees you."
(Reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim)
The question is: if we truly reflect on the fact that Allah sees us, would we still dare to disrespect Him in His house by prioritizing our phones over our devotion?
HOW CAN WE CURB THIS HABIT?
1. Leave Your Phone at Home or in the Car: If your phone is not absolutely necessary, avoid taking it into the mosque. This will eliminate the temptation to check it.
2. Switch Off Data or Put the Phone in Airplane Mode: If you need your phone for emergencies or for Quran apps, turn off notifications to avoid distractions.
3. Fear Allah’s Watchfulness: Remember that Allah sees us and knows what is in our hearts. Reflect on the reverence and focus required during worship.
4. Reflect on the Rewards We Are Missing: By neglecting Adhkar and not listening attentively to the Khutbah, we are missing out on immense rewards and blessings.
5. Remind Ourselves of the Disrespect: Think about how inappropriate it is to prioritize a device over Allah, the Creator of all things.
Let us strive to regain the focus and humility required in the house of Allah. The mosque is a place for worship, reflection, and submission—not a space for worldly distractions. May Allah guide us to worship Him with sincerity and devotion. May Almighty Allah gives us the strength to continue obey HIS command |
Islam › Re: Understanding Islamic (hijrah) Calendar by Ologuntere(m): 5:13pm On Jul 05, 2024 |
Lukgaf: Tomorrow, Saturday, or next Sunday marks the end of 1445 Hijrah. This implies Monday is the first of Muharram - the first day of the new Islamic calendar year - 1446AH. Although there's no special or grand celebration, as a Muslim, it's important to acknowledge the significance of the Islamic calendar and its months, which symbolize and count special events in Islam.
Here's a summary of the Islamic (Hijrah) calendar:
- The Islamic calendar is based on a lunar year consisting of 12 full lunar cycles, totaling 354 days. - Each new year falls 10 or 11 days earlier according to the 364-day solar calendar. - The 12 months of the Islamic year are: 1. Muharram 2. Safar 3. Rabi' al-Awwal (Rabi' 1) 4. Rabi' al-Thani (Rabi' 2) 5. Jumada al-Ula (Jumada I) 6. Jumada al-Akhirah (Jumada II) 7. Rajab 8. Sha'ban 9. Ramadan 10. Shawwal 11. Dhu al-Qa'dah 12. Dhi al-Hijjah
- The first day of Year One of the Islamic calendar was set as the first day of the Hijrah, the Prophet's migration from Makkah to Madinah on July 26, 622 C.E. - The Western convention for designating Islamic dates uses the abbreviation AH, standing for Anno Hegirae or 'Year of the Hijrah'.
Conversion:
To roughly convert an Islamic calendar year (AH) to a Gregorian equivalent (A.D./C.E.) or vice versa, use the following equations from this website:
- AD = 622 + (32/33 x AH) - AH = 33/32 x (AD - 622) May Almighty Allah count us to witness more years in our life |

FriendChoice: Islam Is A Sectless Religion
Islam as a religion is one and have no division. Yet some Muslim have sect but not Islam.
In Islam, there is nothing like Shia and Sunni
The Qura’n says in Surah Al-Imran, Ch. No. 3, V. No. 103 ‘Hold together to the rope of Allah, and be not divided’
– The verse above says Islam have no division.
Qur’an say clearly in Surah Anaam, Ch. No. 6, V. No. 159 that… Who ever makes sects… divisions in Religion of Islam, he has nothing to do with Allah (SWT).
If you make sect and teaches innovations in the Islamic religion, then you have nothing to do with Allah.
A true Muslim in this time is a Muslim who obeys Allah through the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. Any other ideology apart from this is a wrong path.
O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result. Quran
The verse said it all, if you should have any sect then that sect should be the Islamic religion itself obeying Allah and his messenger and those in authority.
If you have disagreement, then keep your altercations aside and look for what Allah and His messenger teach.
If you believe in Allah and you believe you will die as well as resurrected hereafter, then this is the way you should practice Islam and it's the best way that will yield A+ result for you which is paradise. Education › Re: Extension Of JAMB Result Validity: What Are The Possible Implications? by Ologuntere(m): 8:44pm On Oct 17, 2016 |
Dapromzy333: The Senate last Thursday in Abuja directed the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), to extend the validity of its results to a period of three years.
The question is, if this is implemented what are the possible implications?
One of the obvious implications is that candidates who scored up to the required UTME cut-off mark but were unable to secure admission in that academic year will still be able to use the result in the upcoming year thereby saving such candidates the stress of writing UTME again.
It will also reduce the financial burden on parents/guardians as the senate president, Bukola Saraki rightly pointed out.
However, the most critical is this; it will likely reduce the number of candidates applying for JAMB every year but at the same time increase the number of candidates seeking admission through UTME each year. This is not good considering that our tertiary institutions lack the capacity to accommodate the increasing number of admission seekers.
let's examine this. If the validity of UTME result gets extended, candidates who have obtained the required UTME cut-off mark for their course will need not apply for UTME in the upcoming year; however they will still join the teeming fresh secondary school leavers to jostle for admission in the following year. That will surely increase the number of admission seekers.
Now that seems to be nothing different from what it is at the moment; since some candidates who fail to gain admission last year, also sat for this year's UTME along side fresh secondary school leavers and are currently jostling for admission.
What you've failed to consider is that there are candidates who scored well above 200 in last year’s UTME, who were not admitted. Most of them participated in this year’s UTME but couldn’t score up to 180. This has automatically disqualified them for admission this year.
Now what if the validity of UTME result was implemented last year? That means they are still qualified to apply for admission this year there by increasing the number of admission seekers.
Also if the UTME result validity gets extended, many candidates with good UTME scores that fail to secure admission in a particular year will find it hard to consider programmes like diploma, IJMB, Pre-degree etc. since all they have to do is to wait another year and then re-apply for admission with their previous UTME result. The reason many opt for these other programmes in the first place is due to the stress of preparing and sitting for UTME over again.
So, if you ask me, I think admission quota for tertiary institutions should be increased first before extending the validity of UTME result or else the whole process will be self-defeating at the end of the day.
What's your own take on this and what are the other possible implications you can think of? Share with us. |

rummeh: WhatsApp Messenger is the most popular messaging platform on all mobile operating systems and if you have a smart phone, then chances are that you will use WhatsApp instead of relying on your actual service provider. Another beta update of version 2.16.270 is here to download in the APK format and the core reason for these beta updates is to provide you with the best experience possible. The developers, this time, did state a list of changes in the changelog, and they have been detailed below.
Voice Mail: If your WhatsApp call is rejected or unanswered, one will now have the option to leave a voice message. The new feature is basically the voice message feature but only appears when you make a call. If a contact doesn't pick up or decline a call, all you have to do is hold down on the voice message button, and when you are ready to send the message, just let go the button. You message is sent and it appears in the active WhatsApp conversation with a note saying there's been a missed call. The report adds that if you slide left when recording you abandon the voice message - but you can't listen back to your recording before deciding to send it. Bold emojis: The messaging app has added new features like giving people the ability to send bold, italic and strike-through text in messages, a secret font and Olympic-themed emoji - all within the last few weeks..
1.When sharing or forwarding messages, you can now send to multiple chats at once 2.Chats you frequently contact now appear when forwarding or sharing messages 3.While recording videos, slide your finger up or down to zoom in and out 4.A new front-facing flash helps you capture selfies in the dark
Unfortunately, there still isn’t a video-calling feature present, but it looks like it could come by the end of this year.
