So you want to see 300 million perfect beings walking about to convince you and social media that Nigerians are smart people?
You are the dummy-in-chief around here if so.
Nigeria may be a nation of mostly "dummies" in your dummy eyes, but not so in the eye of the world.

1) Nigeria produced the 3rd Commonwealth Secretary General after Brittain released most of her colonies to independence,
Her Majesty the Queen did not consider Nigerians mostly dummies.

2) Nigerian (Obasanjo) had been top contender for UN Secretary General. He didn't make it, but there are not many nation's in world that have attained that honour.

3) Nigerian (Ngozi Okonjo Iweala) was World Bank Vice President and today Director General of World Trade Organization.
I'm sure if you were there you would have shouted no no no those people are mostly dummies.

1) Nigeria is the top soccer nation outside of Europe and South America.

1) Nigerian (Aliko) has built a mammoth edifice of a Refinery that Industry Titans come from Europe and Asia to marvel at.

It goes on, and when you look at the ladder of respect among nations, Nigeria actually belongs on the upper echelon.
But with your dummy eyes you want to compare us with nations that had had industrialization for 200 years.
My brother, it seems you are focusing on the past when lot of Nigerians still had an average IQ level. Example is how society was at that time with lower access to technology when compared with how bad it has become with more access to technology.

Theose areas you quoted either fared better several decades ago or required major intervention from foreigners with a better average IQ level as the mean of their population to implement most of those achievements you quoted.

When you even try to look at simple things that we should relate to normally, you will see the difference. A country where majority of the pool of drivers and transporters can not obey simple road signs like pedestrian crossings, walkways or even have respect for the pedestrians and traffic signals within the environment clearly shows that they do not have levels up to an average IQ level.

A lot of the successes we celebrate from your quotes till today across all areas occurred when more people had an average IQ level or there was some form of intervention from those with an average IQ level. Be it in academia, sports, music, entertainment, finance, electoral systems, etc.

The results are visible everywhere, and the quest for money by any means possible without considering ethics proper education and adapting to acceptable conventions in a sane society has made it worse and accelerates the decline.

What exactly is the criteria for determining IQ level and do these criteria favour certain races than others? Among which stratum of society were the participants taken from each race? On the average it can not be validly and fairly said that Africans have lower IQ than others. No way! Each race has exceptionally intelligent people but on the average, Africans are really intelligent. Way of thinking can be influenced by religion, culture, superstition etc but this shouldn't affect the outcome of a fool proof IQ test.. what should be tested is intelligence simpliciter
My brother, if you look at it critically and analytically, we need to tell ourselves the truth sonthat we can make the necessary changes.

If majority of our people decide to cross a highway or expressway right under or within a 100 meters diameter of a pedestrian bridge and put themselves and drivers in harm's way, they can not be classified as people that have an average IQ.

They definitely have an IQ level below the average and will always make silly decisions most of the time.

Unfortunately even those with high IQs among the people will witness a decline in their quotient when they continue to interact with people that have IQs below the accepted average globally.

Such interaction can either be physical or through electronical means.

I struggle to see the difference here. Official reports I’ve seen puts Dangote’s current supply at around 400k bpd as at January 2025 (although Edwin now claims it is at 500k bpd).

The Nigerian market on average consumes over 330k bpd which means presently at least, he his selling mostly to Nigeria and all in naira.

When he tries to import the extra 300k bpd to ramp up the refinery’s capacity he needs dollars and taking all of those naira sales to the Banks to get dollars also puts pressure on the naira. So I don’t see the major difference at least until Dangote gets to full capacity and can export the other half comfortably.

With this new method, marketers would first put naira under pressure by searching for dollars to buy from Dangote but the dollars is recycled because Dangote takes those dollars to then buy crude from Nigeria (mostly from NNPC at 300k bpd approximately and note that the refining margin is low so the difference is not that much). NNPC then recycles the dollars back to CBN, so it remains at equilibrium. Dangote on the other hand can then export $1 Billion worth of polypropylene yearly while saving us $260 million of annual polypropylene imports simultaneously. I believe the polypropylene and other raw materials for manufacturing may likely be sold in naira still.
Most of the polypropylene will be exported just like Indorama does. It is a money spinner anyway and needed globally especially production centres like China, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, etc.

It is a major step towards but Nigeria is yet to develop massive industries such as automobile, electronics, etc that can use such products. Exhortation will be the alternative ot major option which also earns the country the needed foreign exchange to cushion the effect of the volatility in that space.

Modern and properly operational ports are a critical asset for a $1 trillion dollar economy, but mehn....

https://saharareporters.com/2025/03/18/tinubus-lebanese-ally-chagoury-awarded-700million-lagos-ports-contract-despite-lacking

Please don't make this about tribe or religion. Only losers and suckers fight about such distractions.
You are right my brother. Nigeria needs as many ports as possible to be able to generate the kind of income required to generate a USD1 Trillion economy. The Ogun State Government (OGSG) recently activated plans with Dangote Group to develop the Olokonla Free Trade Zone into an export terminal at Ijebu Waterside. This location was allegedly the preferred location for the Dangote Refinery but it was alleged that the Governor at that time scuttled those plans as well as stopped work on the 6 million tonnes cement factory being built in Itori which may be the largest cement factory.

Though we have issues with him, I will applaud him for taking that bold decision to see to the completion of the Olokonla project and the cement factory in Itori (Ibeshe zone) which has led to reconstruction of the Papalanto road into a dual carriage highway.

Many State Governors need to take the bull by its horn, collaborate and start initiating these major projects that will benefit their people rather than continue to complain everyday or even destroy the ones others have designed whilst spending their resources of esoteric expenses.

From ports to massive housing estates (encompassing massive schools and vocational centres, massive health care and recreational facilities), agricultural growth hubs, rail infrastructure connecting states, etc. The opportunities are massive but continue to remain untapped thereby leaving so much monies on the table to be wasted.

Many people thought the current president was nuts when he started the development of the Lekki Free Trade Zone and Port (Export and Import Terminal) but we are all witnesses to how that infrastructure has been attracting investments to the state and the Ibeju area.

The heads of Nigeria's provinces need to wake up as soon as possible and shock the world by turning its economic potentials into economic realities.

Story. Where did foodstuff crash by 40%
To be sincere with this report, food prices have actually gone down significantly as we speak. If you are opportuned to have a contact at the early stage of sourcing items from the food chain, you will notice the big difference.

The reason why many urban centres are yet to witness the change is because of the effect of middlemen who continue to profiteering and exploit the citizens by not reducing their margins and deceiving people that food prices are still high.

A good example is the 4 litre paint container of garri which used cost about NGN5,000.00. It is now between NGN3,000.00 to NGN3,500.00.

As per cost of vegetables, until we are able to implement firm irrigation systems for growing them, their prices will continue to be high when there is lower volumes of rainfall within the environment.

Boss, you guys need to try to experiment with solar panels and inverter in order to confirm some of these numbers.

Admittedly, it used to be so but not anymore.

Since the advent of tier 1 solar panels and Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, a lot of households are using solar alone for all their power needs for the better part of 5 years. Power needs include cooling (ACs and Fridges), cooking, lighting and many more. You may want to navigate through Nairaland to read firsthand from actual users.

People are running away from NGX due to 2008, the same way people who trialed RE with Lead Acid batteries, makeshift panels and dumb inverters are running away from it.
I feel your point my brother but you need to consider that the percentage of people who can afford the alternative energy products you quoted are very privileged people in Africa.

Unless government can subsidise these products, the cost of acquisition will remain very high and out of reach for many.

Do you know that many people in the rural areas have gone back to using kerosene due to the high cost tariff of the electricity supplied to them.

Regarding people investing in the NGX, just know that this life no balance for everybody at the same time o! Justbas it's extremely cold in the UK, US.and Canada, some provinces in Nigeria have having multiple baths and even sleeping in their boxers due to the heat.

Yes o! Everyone will be fine whether it favours them or not and irrespective of the side of the divide they find themselves. When one person is losing, another is gaining to enable a balance being kept in life.

One of the key topics taught in any business or economics class is that history and socials, politics and economics are the tripod stand that shapes and balances the economy of any nation or country.

It's funny how many people just continue to discard important information just because you have no patience to learn from past events.and mistakes that other nations and past leaders have made. If you don't know where you are coming from, how will you know where you are going?

The stock market is not a point and kill market and the way it is structured, those tripods will always have an effect on it especially since the advent of globalisation.

Our brother, Osita Baba just mentioned a critical issue concerning crude oil prices and highlighted how some parts of history, politics and globalisation inked to Russia, Ukraine, USA and NATO will affect the price of crude oil.

There are people on this forum who have witnessed at least three market crashes that occurred when the price of crude oil dropped significantly due to global crisis. It's best to review whatever they say rather than exerting energy towards shutting such views down.

It is amazing how we come back many years later to blame GEJ for not removing subsidy. That is why I keep saying, I don't believe that we deserve better than this. We got what we deserve.

GEJ made efforts at to save the excess money from crude oil. Some people took him to court because of excess crude account. We blamed him for that. How much do we have in that account today?
GEJ removed subsidy. Some people turned rebel and turned the country upside down. We blamed GEJ for it.
Dr Okonjo Iweala cried that we should save for the raining day. But no one listen. All the governors were against here, saying they can not save for who will come latter to spend the money. We blamed GEJ for it . Many years latter, we are still blaming GEJ for not saving.
PMB wasted the little that was saved in the excess crude account and pratically depleted our foreign reserve. We blamed GEJ for it.

PBAT removed subsidy and devalued the naira. We blamed GEJ for it.

That is why many decades later, we are still blaming sl*ve trade and colonisation for our woes. Even when many countries in our category have left us. As if we were not the ones that thought the British. We are not practicing sl*ve related traded and wars before they came right?
We always look for who to blame, rather than fixing the problems.

Before you say GEJ administration was wasteful, just check government spending and expenditure per administration. How much has PMB spent so far? And what do we have to show for it?
Technically, the problem has never been non availability of money. Our spending has ever being increasing. But what do we have to show for it is the question?

It is well.

Let is continue deceiving ourselves.
Baba, no one is deceiving anybody on this subsidy matter. Even Lamido Sanusi Lamido (as he was called at that time now Emir Sanusi) and Ngozi Okonjo Iweala supported its removal. I supported the removal because Nigerians were living a big lie with a lot of wastageand inefficiency in the petrol as well as foreign exchange products value chain.

I would cringe whenever I saw colleagues and people travelling for leisure or personal education enjoying subsidy on the foreign exchange they purchased when such funds should have gone to the manufacturing or productive sectors to increase our GDP and GNP figures.

If you juxtaposed the value of expenditure in NGN compared with its USD valuations for each regime as they passed on the torch, you will see how much waste Nigeria suffered during the man's regime.

Initially I didn't like the sudden removal of subsidy on petrol and foreign exchange by this administration and felt they could have waited to stabilize things but that stabilization may not come because of so many vested interest in activities that sabotage the economy of the country.

Looking at how things are panning out, it may have been better to have done it earlier than later. That removal has forced Nigerians to take a look at things and begin to accept the reality that faces them ahead.

At the minimum, many of those idle hands involved in unethical and criminal activities should be involved in the value chain of products from cash crops as well as converting some food crops like cassava or coco yam into cash crops through value added products.

One thing we should have learnt over the years is that good intentions are not enough to see positive change through in any society. One must remove sentiments and take action to see things activated for the good of mankind.

As for that saving for the rainy day, I have learnt to take it with a pinch of salt because whatever you saved can be squandered easily by your successors. It is better to invest and generate cashflows that provide incomes that can be reinvested or used for positive growth and development in society.

A good example are monies invested in the NLNG projects over the years or major infrastructure which could have been further expanded at relatively cheaper costs to generate more income or dividends rather than leaving savings for successors to defend the NGN for people going on luxury and esoteric travels and education that doesn't benefit the people at the bottom of the income pyramid and the nation as a whole.

This analysis is funny!
Why don't you blame Obasanjo, Yardua and all previous presidents for not floating the naira as well? Why blame GEJ alone? What about Buhari, did he float the naira?
What has been the result of floating the naira? Has it improved the lot of Nigerians and the economy at large?
If you care to know, you weaken your economic base to the advantage of external stakeholders when you float your currency but clueless governments in Africa do it because they think they would earn more from their exports and forgetting that their imports will be more badly affected with greater multiplier effect.
Have you asked yourselves why most European countries like UK refuse to float their currency? The Asians e.g. Chinese don't even float their currency even though they have excess local capacity and can afford to produce at very cheap prices and export. We in Africa import virtually everything so we cannot afford such.
Baba, na under GEJ time we experienced Nigeria selling crude oil at over USD90 per barrel.

Obasanjo had one of the worst economy handed over to him yet he managed it to the best of the ability of his team and grew the reserves. He even brought in a lot of foreign direct investments, etc.

Yardua took over from Obasanjo and his was a very short one though.

GEJ took over when the crude oil boom happened and valuations were high. Who else but GEJ to have done all the needful to save us from what is happening today.

If you look at a few proposed buyout schemes on floor of the NSE, a company like GSK PLC was willing to pay about NGN40 per share which commanded more USD value than it does today. That regime had a lot of resources to stop our wasteful behaviour and reset the brains of Nigerians.

I tell people that if GEJ had gone through with the removal of subsidy on petrol and the exchange rates, Buhari would not have the balls to borrow the amount he did through ways and means from the CBN.

Majority of Nigerians need a hard reset to be able to see, think and articulate things properly for a better future and be productive.
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ololufemi: 6:14pm On Feb 18, 2025
Majority of Nigerians will run across a dangerous highway on foot right under a pedestrian bridge and still give excuses why they did so.

They will dump their trash in front of their gutters hoping that the rain will sweep it away without thinking of the repercussions when the water level rises with high velocity.

Many were wasteful during those subsidy years and would still blame their wasteful attitude on one reason or the other. Examples were people spending their hard earned income on things they could pay for though they could not afford to have those things.

Until at least 35% of Nigerians decide to change their behaviour and attitude positively towards many things especially the little ones that require grit and commitment, e go tey before anything meaningful comes through for many in this country.

So if he didn’t float the currency like he did in 2023 and early 2024, how would he then open up the market to allow dollar inflow to see us keep servicing our debts and to pay airline backlogs?

Under GEJ, we had record high oil prices at an average of 100 dollars per barrel from 2011 to 2013 and very high production of at least 2.2 million bpd. We had never earned like that in our history. It was an opportunity to build our reserves from the $45 Billion he met it in 2010 to at least $60 Billion but no, it was depleted to $29 Billion in 2015. ECA account also depleted from $20 Billion to $2 Billion, debt moved from $15 Billion to $67 Billion yet this was the time we had our highest earnings in history. Buhari may have been clueless but GEJ gave him too much work to do.

Remember GEJ experienced no external threat like global economic meltdown Yaradua experienced in 2008 that saw him defend the naira and deplete the reserves from Obasanjo’s $64 Billion to $45 Billion nor did he experience COVID in 2020. GEJ had plenty and it was an opportunity for us.
Very valid points my brother. If we remove sentiments et al, no matter what anyone says, GEJ as president was wasteful and incompetent despite the solid and erudite team he had. He could have turned things around and prevented us from what we are experiencing today in the hands of successive governments of APC.

Many do not realise that Nigeria could have comfortably afforded to float its currency and remove petrol subsidy during his tenure but he chickened out and frittered away that golden opportunity after the ones Obasanjo and Yaradua had.

I usually tell people, the next administration will only meet and make things tougher because of the incompetence of the previous ones.

It's like your predecessor giving you a shovel or spade to use to fill a hole the size of ten football fields and 100 metres deep when he had a caterpillar payloader and literally sold it off.

From shovel na trowel the next person go collect from his predecessor to use do the work. 🤷🏽‍♂️

We are here for investments, but all the factors and parameters that determine the fate and performance of investments are controlled and affected by the political authority e.g. inflation, interest rates, exchange rate, purchasing power, etc.

I have noticed on the this forum that when someone makes a post praising or eulogizing this govt and/or the president, the whole place is quiet and most people don't make any comment.
But when someone says this govt and/or president is clueless and incompetent, some crowd of people suddenly emerge out of their hideout and cocoons, unhappy and they remember that there is a ''politics'' section and such comments should be taken to such section.

I cannot even imagine that a terrible govt like this could be said to be better than Jonathan's (even though GEJ had his own issues).
My brother, just ignore the GEJ tales people keep bringing up every now and then. Failure is still failure, even if na 10% compared to 25%.
GEJ had more than enough economic reason, economic resources and agility in human resources to remove the petrol subsidy alongside the exchange rate debacle but chose to pander towards political views who had ulterior and selfish reasons which eventually cost him the reelection he needed badly.

If GEJ had taken the bull by the horn in the early stages of his government, we would have seen some level of adjustment to lifestyles and possible chages which could have led to the nation experiencing double digit growth of at least 10% or close to it over the past years.

It would have also weakened the glut of cash available to those who benefited from the petrol subsidy and foreign exchange challenges which gave such people a platform to harness resources to sabotage his government.

He failed Nigerians as well as his successor and even previous governments. A lot of the things we are experiencing today ought to have been done several decades ago.

My brother, The Almighty, is too great to be involved in things like stock market things which are creation of man. We should be mindful on how we involve His name in such pedestrian matters that he has delegated to man to deal with through gifts, ideas, thoughts, insights and revelations.

The stock market is a creation of man and man is a creation of the Almighty. Same thing with money which many keep chasing endlessly. Whatever insights we need about the market or money, it is usually revealed by men such as our brethren here.

The Almighty is the One who gives man the breath to see each beautiful day so that he can minister the gifts and creative ideas he has to the world. I do not claim any awards on this matter. Only He knows what tomorrow holds.

Agba and few others still dey look with old eyes and they never consider the rate of inflation we are facing in this nation.

If companies's products go high, how their stock go go low?
Bro, you have a strong point there which one needs to consider as well. Until the rate of inflation slows down considerably, money market and fixed income securities still dey primary school compared to the figures these companies are churning for investors in terms of returns on stock prices.

What about the lady who started the OJIJ movement? She sold Nascon at 37, expecting to buy back at 32, even though she was in a losing position and Nascon was predicted to rise. She also insulted other members in the process. undecided

shocked shocked shocked
Good afternoon my brother. You have highlighted it further and your words must be highly noted. I don't understand why these people hurl insults and stones at brethren who made recommendations that will be beneficial to many on this platform.

Patience and Time are oblivious partners in the quest towards wealth acreage and management but many are not ready to welcome those two visitors to their investment portfolios and goals.

Baba MegaWealth don dey shout about one company that acquired Consolidated Breweries and plays a role in the highest continental football tournament in the world yet many are treating his information with levity (using the medicine for eczema and scabies to treat leprosy)

I surely hope these acrimonious persons will cool down and sheath their swords rather than continue to swing it anyhow with no care of where it might hurt anyone.

They should understand that na money almost all of us find come this engaging platform and we should work together to achieve it rather than causing chaos and negative vibes with insults and verbose sttaements.

Positivity and prosperous vibes must be our objective. 😎

I wondered what the people nemeth was recommended for are thinking right now.
Loco there is God ooo grin grin
Loco did good recommending Neimeth PLC at around NGN2 per share or slightlylower. People should find out what price the share has been trading at before seeking to throw jabs at him.

For a stock recommended at about NGN2.00 and currently at about NGN3.00, there is not much to say.

Let's not discourage more people from making contributions on our beloved platform. 😎

It may seem an awkward suggestion but I strongly suggest that you should find a way to get this stockbubble product and service monetised on TikTok.

Nigerians both at home and the diaspora should be able to get interested in it and this generate traffic which allows you earn income from it.

Well done for coming up with it. You have done very well, @toyeoye baba and more grease and milestones to your elbows. 🙌🏽👍🏽👊🏾👌👏🏼💰🥂🙏🏽.
