nikola: You are very correct. The office close to the Library - my favorite place. They have moved though. NERC isn't solely meant for consumers complaints. NERC functions are greater than that. If there is need for complaints, there is complaints form on its website. NERC offices are not station for only complainers, they are for administrative affairs to enable its discharge its core functions. |

Edonnaa: Under department of customer affairs? Isn't NERC an AGENCY of its own?
Well I guess you know better, so won't really dabble much into it He doesn't know better. Anything he says has been ruled out since he mentioned they have only one staff in a state. NERC has 6 offices in the 6 geopolitical zones not state by state offices. Perhaps a NIPOST office in a rural area have more than a staff and a structure of their own. NERC is an independent regulatory body enacted by Nigerian law. Electricity Generation, Transmission and Distribution companies all licensed and regulated by NERC. (Power and energy ; billion dollars industry) How could their offices looks like a rented shop? Then why are we interested in working for them? |

UBGG: Lol. I'll be easy because I am trying to believe in the midst of your desire to announce your current status there might also exist the pure desire to give advice, albeit unsolicited.
First, I work, it's a family business and If I decide to not do anything else for the rest of my life, I'll be all right. But I also want an international career someday, away from my family and hoped this would kick-start it. So you understand why I wrote how I was looking forward to this and why I might try again.
Thank you, sir! Point of correction, I got a job I was pursuing 3 days after when I submitted an application so there wasn't any desire to announce my current status as you thought. To who here would I announce my current status. Nobody knows me, I do not know anyone here. I believe you should have understand why I used myself as an example. Since you have all the resource to sustain yourself as long as you live without even you add to it, why not travel abroad and sponsor yourself with your abundance resource if you want an international career/exposure? You do not need to repeatedly wait for sponsorship that might not come if you keep waiting for years. |

UBGG: It's safe then to assume they've selected their preferred volunteers. I really was looking forward to it...oh well, I'd try again.
Brava to her though, to be chosen from 37,000 ain't no small feat. Please why would you have concluded that you would try again. You won't be in the same position until next round. If that is your only option in life, the old of being selected is minimal, then please think of better things. I applied because I wanted to be engaged to kick off a career fortunately for me I secured my dream job as an Assistant Surveyor with multi billion dollars annual revenue, a global construction firm Sinohydro Group. So I will not sacrifice my new job for one year volunteer service even if I am selected. I applied because I have no option but now I have option and I am happy with my new I pray before next round, you will be in good condition with options. |

There are reasons to be patient with AU-YVC final selection. Since interview and physical evaluation of applicants skills and experience are not involved before shortlisted, hence, below are bound to take place:
The recruitment process will definitely be outsource to Specialize recruitment consulting agency.
Verification and confirmation of all documents and information submitted by applicants. For those who are very good in fake and manipulation.

Crazytrump: Youre right, they placed them there but with an instructions, which you were warned to read before attempting d test. .If you read the instructions carefully before clicking on the test, you would know what I mean...there was an instruction that goes like this "if you did choose a skill when registering" this instruction gives you an option to opt out if you didn't selected them.i guess you were asking them to ignore the instructions stated on the dashboard too and follow your advice ? The word 'IF' is a conditional statement in which you are right. But the if has already been taken care of by the programmers which often used if as a conditional statement. If applicant registered for extra skills, the skills evaluation tests appear on his or her dashboard. If no, then no skills evaluation tests appear. So either you selected extra skills or not during your registration, don't leave anything unattended to on your dashboard. You will notice something like 'you have quizzes that are due'. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Npower N-teach Assessment Test: Latest Developments by Olowozain: 3:23am On Aug 21, 2017 |
Crazytrump: Didnt you see d word "if"? I won't be surprised if some people are disqualified because of this your question...I see no reason writing d skills test when you didn't register for it... You should equally see no reason why Npower will place them on your dashboard when you didn't register for it. However, some people don't see them appear on their dashboard whether they registered them or not, so my prudent advice is that write them if they appear on your dashboard. |

Ask yourself if you truly have passion for volunteerism. If you do, then Npower is your sure bet or starting from somewhere where monetary values are not involved.
Over 37k applications were received and 37k applications will be dinged.
The same four or five slots for Nigerians will be share among males and females.
Then what's your chances? Very slim.
AU will fish out 99% of applicants that applied based on the packages and opportunities that goes with the program not a genuine volunteer. |

CANDIDATE FOR AN AFRICAN UNION YOUTH VOLUNTEER.
Reference is made to the call for the African Union Youth Volunteer. I am a Ugandan by nationality aged 25 years. I submit my motivation with assurance that I will be a reliable asset to realising Africa's development targets and goals for Africa Union's Agenda 2063 through this volunteering opportunity, given the following endowments;

These projects are not limited to the Link Up project; Partnership to Inspire Transform and Connect the HIV Response (PITCH) project and Get up Speak out (GUSO) under Uganda Network of Young People Living with HIV/AIDS.
·My youth civic engagement, participation and youth empowerment experience has been mainly focusing on fighting HIV and AIDS among young people, stigma and Discrimination of young people living with HIV, gender inequality, and gender based violence among young women and girls as well as sexual reproductive health and rights through public education and peer education to youth in and out of school, cultural and religious leaders and the communities at large. I have further participated in stakeholders meetings mainly drawing attention of people in general and those in positions of authority in particular to accept the reality of HIV in our communities, and to recognize the rights of youth living with HIV.
I have been at the forefront in public policy analysis basically analyzing policies that are contrary to human rights and to young people living with HIV including the petitioning of the HIV Prevention HIV and AIDS prevention and control act 2014 to the Constitutional court; campaigning for better services for young people living with HIV like the Youth Friendly services in Health Centers, access to medicine, counselling and other support(s) needed to defend the right to life and to health care.

I expect to see the organization that I will be deployed in as a leading organisation for development reaching the most marginalized populations, including indigenous peoples addressing their social and economic needs, becoming a well-coordinated and sustained network that engages communities there by enabling all people to come forward to receive appropriate, accessible and acceptable services provided through government and private providers.
In terms of supporting the communities, I expect to replicate the community differential modals enhanced after my year of service that address the social and economic needs of the marginalized populations and communities, ensure that the human rights and dignity are protected, promoted and fulfilled, without distinction of any kind and commit to accelerate efforts towards the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, and the Africa Union's Agenda 2063.
Comments/Remarks The questions require an essay type format and you have given a bio-data format so the format of your responses are not suited to the prompt requirements. It must be in essay form in order for you to better explain yourself. Right now, it feels like I am reading a job application from a generic applicant for the position rather than someone seeking to gain my approval for acceptance into a program. The disconnected voice that you are using is not suited to the application process. You must use an essay format in your presentation. Make it more fluid as if telling related stories instead of outlined information. The reviewer needs to get to know you on a personal basis and the outline form does not allow that.
Due to the rigid format of your response, the heart of the essay is lost. There is no personal connection in the application, only data and information without any build up for your personality or character traits, which are very important considerations in this application process.
You redundantly use the term "I expect" in the essay. this will cause reader boredom later on so try and use different terms such as "I hope", "I am looking forward to", "I would like to see..." and other variations of the terms "I expect".
Try to soften the voice of your essay. You do respond to the questions but you sound more like you are giving a court testimony rather than explaining yourself in an essay. It makes the total essay uncomfortable to read. If you would like me to review this essay after you revise it, please make this an "Urgent" thread. Otherwise, don't bother posting your revised essay as I will not be able to advice you again due to our one advice per essay thread policy and our admin will delete the 2nd essay due to duplicate postings. Only the "Urgent" thread is allowed to have duplicate postings. Inquire as to how to make this essay "Urgent" from our moderators or admin. They will happily assist you. The piece up there look exactly like a job cover letter not a motivation letter. Although both requires selling yourself in an interesting way but they also have different selling points or approaches when carefully understood. Why do you want to become AUVC = 0/5 Why are you the best candidate= 0/5 Youth empowerment experience= 3/5 Expectations = 4/5 Previous experience for culture integration and teamwork = 2/5 |

According to AU reports, 65% of Africa populations are within the age group of 15-35.
It is very ridiculous based on their claimed agenda, mission and vision for the youths to be recruiting 100 youth volunteers annually across the continent with thousands of non-profit organizations available.
I wonder why people we refer as leaders finding it difficult to think straight because that fraction of recruitment won't impact anything. |
Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Apply For African Union Youth Volunteer Corps (AU-YVC) 2018 by Olowozain: 7:58am On Jul 22, 2017 |
How It Works - Aspiring volunteers who fulfill all requirements should fill out the online application form and upload their CV. - Organizations wishing to deploy youth volunteers are required to fill out the online request form . Alternatively, organizations can send their request to youth@africa-union.org - Screening: Volunteer Applications and Volunteer Requests would now be screened for completeness through a vigorous and transparent process. Candidates whose application was not convincing, would be eliminated and notified. Volunteers are permitted to reapply a second time. - Matching: Applications of nominated volunteer candidates are matched with available vacancies according to the criteria specified by the requesting organization. - Selection: The AU-YVC would send multiple CVs (4- of matched volunteers to requesting organization to make final selection. - Volunteer Training: Prior to their deployment volunteers would be trained for a period of 2 to 3 weeks by the AU-YVC unit to enhance volunteers professional, interpersonal and life skills. The training aims to prepare volunteers for their country of deployment and/or enhance their capacity. - Deployment: selected volunteers would now sign a tri-partite agreement with their host organization and the AUC which shall guide the terms of deployment. - Progress Assessment: volunteers are expected to provide regular reports on their activities and address challenges to the AU-YVC unit. |

No matter what is written on your recommendation letter, the best recommendation for selection is the one you can give to yourself.
All recommendations are subject to be positively exaggerated. You keep reading that you can get it from anywhere easily and you can as well influence it.
I think the most important parts are your motivation letter and your CV. The two parts will definitely convey to an experienced recruiter what you have in bulk to offer the community you will be deployed. If you don't have anything to offer, if you don't understand problem you are likely to solve and if you don't convey the values you are bringing in, then do I care about the recommendation letter? Although I believe the recommendation letter will play a slightly role when competing between two or more applicants of the same weight. |

More insight:
You might have PhD or master degree, but it is in your best interest to apply with your bachelor degree as you will still be accepted as level 8 officer and your promotion will not be faster than those your colleagues with bachelor degrees and your additional qualifications doesn't give you extra cutting edge during the application process. In fact it can hurt because your boss that will recruit you might not have master or PhD degree and human feelings might just take over and place your application into the loop hole.
If your qualifications is higher than your recruiting manager, then you better take some off because your prospective bosses will not offer you job and you become a threat to them |
