It's Only in Nigeria that you will see a lot of already made people (some are either already working class or successful entrepreneurers) and still searching for federal government work, thereby reducing poor man's chances that doesn't have anything to rely on after the whole process.
When NERC was asking for 14 years, 10 years, 7 years, and 4 years familiar work experience in different roles, NERC aims to recruit those set of people you mentioned (Already established talents in the country) So they have noblame for blocking others! If it was the graduate roles (level eight) many of those experienced hires would not be qualified by age and graduated years benchmark!

It's injustice when you make others run through a stressful system while giving others leeway into federal agencies. That's why you have so much corruption in the federal civil service where one individual will have 69 houses all across the country; money they can't account for. May God help this country. My only concern is hope they won't tell us to come to Abuja for the interview? That'll amount to crass wickedness. Let's just have the interview at the nearest zonal or state headquarters or online zoom interview. My 2cents!
"injustice" you are very right! Unfortunately, that is the society we found ourselves today. Job hunting is extremely stressful, weakened moral, and finding a job is a job on it own. On a general term organizations will tend to carried out final interview on 5-10 best fit candidates for a single role after already weeding out hundreds/thousands of candidates. They only care about a single one they needed, they don't care about how others managed to come for the interview (it looks to them as competiton where people come from different places and only a winner will emerge). All of these are becoming the new normal that we have to blend with it. If you are lucky to get interview invites, don't be discouraged on the location, NERC is a very nice place to work. I am most certain that anyone with a very strong background that align with the applied position would surely get interview/closer to the job/get the job. If you are one of those... start preparing yourself! Advantage of government jobs over private sector is the job security and reduced burnout! Burnout is what private sector is known for, employees have to be burnouts to the company advantage! It is very hard to achieved work-life-balance with private sector. Private sector takes advantage of the saturated labour market to threatening employee positions (there are lots of other people out there readily available to fill your position if you don't get burnout for them). If you already assessed your background to fit in the position you applied, be confident in yourself!

You're just writing epistle....I know a corper who has 2 months left to finish service. She's just waiting to finish, she already has job waiting for her 'cos she has strong connection with someone working in Aso Rock. In this same space some guys from Kano were displaying their appointment letter with "almighty" CBN; given to them like father xmas. But let's all pretend we don't know how things go in this country. It is well with all of us. Just a simple recruitment is taking them almost a year to complete despite Testmi lifting all their questions directly from GMAT! They can't even boast of setting a single question from that test. And someone here still has the gut to tell us that there was mass failure. Can they even pass any of those questions they displayed not even talking about the short time given? No matter how brilliant you are, you can't finish all those questions; not even talking about the scores here o. Only God can help those of us that he's our only connection!
Either some people know prominent people to front for them or not knowing anybody to front for them, the truth is that we all need good jobs/source of income to pay our bills, take care of our expenses and be responsible. So there is no problem if others are getting appointment letters. We are happy for them because we all have responsibilities. At least, they will pay bills, take care of their expenses and be responsible. The pain point here is that the jobs are not enough for everyone. So it is making it harder to get. Even if you are a member of 5 men NERC commissioners and your niece is currently unemployed and she is part of the 2022 NERC recruitment candidates, you would tried as much as you can to help fixed her in one of the positions she best fits. At least she would start taking care of her expenses, bills and other financial life responsibilities. This is what called nepotism but it won't end with the limited vacancies we have in Nigeria to the ratio of people in need of jobs! We do not know prominent people and yet we are all trying to apply for federal jobs because God will give some people amongst us no matter how nepotism takes turns, God has his people too for sure for this recruitment! We all know about nepotism but that doesn't deterred us from trying our lucks! Personally I do not fault our problems on nepotism, I rather fault it on the ratio of available vacancies to people in need of jobs! This ratio is realistically abnormal! Very bad!! Very dangerous!!!

NERC HR manager huh
I went on standardised details as she said, "Some of us, we've graduated since 2018. But on the portal, it shows "fresh graduate"." someone who has graduated since 2014 can be qualified as either entry level/fresh graduate or experienced hire role depending on circumstances. On a scale, we have very lesser vacancies to our increasingly populace (we have an annual growth rates of 3%). This ultimately impact lack of reasonable engagement, career growth, and personal development in our country. The saddest part is that we are seeing no effort to balance this biggest economic challenge, even if it is going to be balanced in the next 15-20 years, at least we would be glad that we have hope! May God Almighty help us in our country. It's tough though! Based on NYSC data, we have more than 200,000 graduates every year! Both the public and private sectors, do we have even 100,000 vacancies annually for this young lads? The deficit keeps accumulating on since inception of bad/corrupt governance and no one is willing to find solutions to this pertinent economic crisis! Whether using long or short legs, this recruitment can only take more than 100 and less than 140 amongst thousands of interested candidates!

Some of us, we've graduated since 2018. But on the portal, it shows "fresh graduate".

I cant recall if we are the one that choose that during registration or nerc did the classification themselves.

Please any idea?
The two classifications were determined by candidates during the application submission stage based on how everyone classified him/her self! However, experienced hire is not determined by how long someone has graduated- perhaps, experienced hires are those with demonstrable experience and success in their industry benchmark at 4 years and above. Employment history with big/fortune companies plus recognised professional certifications makes a person an experienced hire! Many recruiters have the habit of not paying attention to an experienced hire in which the companies listed on his/her resumè/CV are not big/fortune companies (companies not listed on forex/unpopular) and the person is not affiliated to recognised professional bodies in his/her industry if required. On the other hand, fresh graduates, mostly are assessed for potential.... Recruiters are not looking out for companies and professional certifications for fresh graduates, they are simply assessing for positive signs of potential in candidates!

The test got some roles to play that was why the test was a process, not a determinant it was meant to differentiate between more qualified people for roles applied. For instance, someone with a 14 years wealth of experience in the management of customer and consumer affairs with a well established private sector applied for a principal manager role in the same field with a well detailed and standardised CV. The test became relevant, and could make a barricade not to get interview invites when he or she got many competitors of the same level that scores higher than him or her. The test became needless when there is no need to further cut down strong candidates of the same level.

I don't think they will release any result to the candidates. They will only contact the ones they have selected to progress.

I don't think you need information about the salary, till you get to the level of interview or till you are recruited by NERC. Why are you asking for salary breakdown per position from him?

Everyone should calm down; what will be will definitely happen. If you will be NERC staff next year, you will get the job but if otherwise, you don't need to kill yourself.
Because he got information about the good of the salary. So it would be kind of him if he shares some with us even if it's not all (let have some tastes of what he got of the salary). How much is the basic salary for a principal manager, legal advisor, analyst 1, programmer. Though salary discourse is not what is on the table right now rather what's on the table right now is all about interview process and lek4sure was very detailed about that. The chance for virtual interview is very, very slim!

Listen, the information i received from reliable source is slighly different from that of lek4sure...1. Morethan 100 applicants will be recruited (almost 180 plus). 2. Geopolitical will be considered. 3. Result will be released soon. 4. Experience hire only. 5. Few Slots exist (contact ur source). 6. Salary very good. 7. Mass failure in the test.
Many thanks for your information. Perhaps, the only difference in your information with the ones from lek4sure is the time line and the authentication of the feedback.

Result will be released soon (exact month and date?)

Geopolitical will be considered (how many per each geopolitical?)

Salary very good ( give salary breakdown per positions)

Mass failure in test ( why was the test results not released earlier and decision to release it and for what now?)

Experienced hires only (so if experienced hires are the majority of the mass failure as you said, what happens to the policy of experienced hires only?)

Please contact your reliable source for more clarification on all of that. We need solid information please. Thanks for your efforts! Lek4sure information is in line with the next stage of the the recruitment process which is Competency Interviews which is why the guy is always getting it right! His information is beyond scrutiny or called for clarification. Please we need information if the interview has been approved for virtual. Everything is stage by stage, we should be getting updates on the interview process for now

In line with what you said, I discovered the initial screening was not properly done.
One of my friends applied for Ass. Safety.... and the position was for 6 years experience, but he had just 3 years experience. He was so surprised to be shortlisted and he took the test.
A lot of freshers will fall on this category according to the update from @Lek4sure.
It would have been best they were not invited in the first place instead of raising their hopes only to dash it all of a sudden, perhaps after a very sound test score.
But again I felt if the recruiters were to properly screen the applicants, it will delay the process, owing to the volume of applications they had to handle at that initial stage.
Well, the lord is our strength as we wait.
It was unfortunate that the initial screening was done inaccurately that was what gave birth to this clause "Where it is discovered that any candidate who scaled through the initial review stage does not possess the minimum years of experience for the applied role, they shall be placed on the appropriate role that matches their years of experience in the Commission’s scheme of service, where vacancies exist in the commensurate roles" This phrase "they shall be placed on the appropriate role that matches their years of experience in the Commission’s scheme of service, where vacancies exist in the commensurate roles" simply means they shall be ditched in a black hole. Who have the time to be matching candidates with the roles that matches their qualifications and years of experience when candidates could not have done that by themselves in the first place?? it better candidates save themselves and the other party time and stress when they don't meet essential criterion for jobs. It's better to apply for roles we are 80 percent fit in while considering key requirements for the job!

Just so you know, someone who doesn't have any experience but extremely well connected will make the final 70 people..

Regardless of how transparent a recruitment is, they would always give slots to senior ministers, senators and head of FCC... AND THAT'S THE GOSPEL TRUTH
"someone who doesn't have any experience but extremely well connected will make final 70 people" is not likely to be successful in the role offered. There is no doubt about cutting edge advantages, it is an advantage when a candidate is deemed-fit. An experience programmer with the programming codes/languages skills required to perform well on the job having strong ties with a minister, or a senator is obviously having a good strong recommendation amongst others qualify candidates. Keep putting our best as usual and never be discouraged

[quote author=leks4sure post=117748210]Panel Interview with the top management is scheduled for November ending at the commission's office in Abuja. Invite would be rolled out some days before then.

Top five candidates acording to performance in the online test and quality of CV based on qualifications and experience for every role advertised are expected to be shortlisted.

Being among top scorers does not give one the guaranty of making it to the next stage. A lot of guys that had high scores have been dropped because they don't have cognate experience and skills for the expected roles. All fresh graduates were dropped also. This recruitment is strictly for experience hires.

Some roles have stiffer competition than others. Some managerial roles candidates like principal managers even performed poorly in the CBT but would be invited as they are vastly experienced.

Circa 400 candidates needed for the next stage to select about 70 candidates.

All the best to everyone!

Best wishes to those that have previous experience (hands on experience) and good exam scores. From the beginning, those advertised roles required previous experiences. Emphasis was made on it unless people who did not pay attention! The test in between the submission of application and Competency interview was a process not essential criterion in the hiring process for experienced hires.

@ lek4sure, thank you for the information.

Please I'd like to ask if there is possibility for such agency to recruit someone that wears long hijab.

Because it will be unreasonable to go from Lagos to Abuja and get disqualified due to mode of dressing. I want to know now, so I can take my mind off looking forward to their invite.

Kindly respond. Thanks
What you have in your brain, your technical skills and experience does not have anything to do with your dress. We are not in a western nation for you to dress in their cultural way of life. Nigeria, we understood our diversity, we respect people's culture, belief and way of life in as much as we are not indecently dressed. Nobody will condemned you for morally dressed, less concerned what your attire looks like. Prove your skills, knowledge, experience and abilities to deliver exceptionally.

NERC recruitment is already four (4) months old. 15th June, 2022 to 15th October, 2022. I wrote that government recruitment globally Start to finish is 4-12 months. considering days vacancies must be advertised to the public, reviewing of applications, assessment/interview and every other underground bureaucracy to the time final decisions are made by decision makers. What I was advising is, it takes patience

Or do you think chairman House committee on Electricity is not aware of the recruitment and they will just go ahead and recruit?

The federal character commission ,National Assembly and NERC executives are those who determine the approval ..they all sit to agree
Kolabajo: Ministery, Department and Agency (MDA) many of the Ministeries, Departments are not independent of their recruitment, they would write to the Civil Service Commission simply known as (Federal Characters) requesting they are need of employees. Hence awaiting approval from Civil Service Commission. In a situation when Civil Service Commission does not approved yet, they don't carry out recruitment, they will have to wait until they get approval. Many of the Agencies are independent of their recruitments, what they do is after recruitments, they regularised to the civil service commission. The only approval by law of the land MDAs get for recruitment comes from Federal Civil Service Commission known as Federal Character. When MDAs writes formally to Civil Service Commission and gets approval, they embark on recruitment.

The said funds requested on the shared link was spent inappropriately by the viewed of the National Assembly and the used was questioned. It does not imply getting approval for recruitment. NERC is not included in National budget. By January to February next year by God's grace NERC would have more money to pay more of its workers. The number of NERC employees depend on its self generated revenue. By January to February next year, we are adding 700MW to the national grid to boost electricity supply. NERC self-generated revenue would drastically increase. NERC would employ more manpower and having the capacity to remunerating its employees.

Please kindly stop speculating, saying untrue and patiently wait for the next steps. Government recruitment everywhere in the world will take 4-12 months depending on circumstances.

National Assembly for recruitment notifications and approval? So responsibilities of the National Assembly has added to notification and approval of recruitments not only responsibilities on national matters and passing of laws?

Meanwhile, for those speculating on untrue and irrelevant feedbacks, by the constitution of the law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, NERC is an independent of its recruitment. It is empowered by constitution to independently employed the competent manpower it needs to deliver on its mandates and remunerates with the income its self-generates. I repeat government recruitment takes 4-12 months from start to finish!

In a company where a project director highest qualification is Bachelor degree in civil engineering with 25 years of industry experience and a guy with a Master degree in Civil engineering is currently an Assistant Engineer with 2 years of industry experience! Are you telling us to swapped the guy on a Master degree (Assistant Engineer) with the project director because the project director highest qualification is Bachelor degree? In most cases, being a candidate to a top shot doesn't mean the person is dull. Such person is fortunate to have "a miracle working connect." Like we all don't wanna be in their shoes.
You are absolutely correct! "The initial review stage sorted candidates on the basis of their qualifications and years of experience for applied roles in line with the Commission’s scheme of service." Everyone that were invited for the aptitude test are perfectly qualified for the roles they applied. 70-160 candidates are definitely qualified for a particular position. However, 2-4 candidates will be selected at the end. Cutting edge advantages count everywhere in the world among tens to hundreds of qualified candidates! Cutting edge advantages are luck/favors, favorably connections, recommendations etc. We are all qualified in all ramifications, and not all qualified will be recruited, so let stay positive! Unlike the private sector where they hired the ones with exceptional skill sets. In the public sector, adequate skill sets plus cutting edge advantages are enough to get hired.

It seems many people here placed big emphasis on the test and one of the reasons the test results are not displayed/shown. I would like to put on here that the test is just a factor, not exactly the determinant. None of the vacancies are entry level where aptitude/assessment test is the determinant. Next phase should begin two months from the time the last phase ended/closed!

The most important information there is the status. Until it is changed to something meaningful and do not expect it to change in less than a month after the exam. There are so many factors that goes with the decision to move candidate forward or not for the next step (pending next step). It's not only an examination results. Expect to received an email notifying of changes in status as soon as decision has been made. Testmi are done with their part in the recruitment process, it is left to the hiring committee set up by the commission to make final decision on who move forward or not. So this process is not going to be completed so soon, though it all depends on the working rate of the hiring committee

The last time I checked, understanding a question before answering is better than guessing. This is a blind argument. You're wrong. End of discussion.
Both arguments are right. If you're very good, take your time to answer correctly. I think that was your point. On the other side, if you are not sure of your ability to answer the questions, keep guessing as lead by your spirit is a good way instead of leaving blank.

But the basic of the arguments had earlier been addressed. Guessing most of the answers and finished on time is not better than taking your time to answer many correctly if you know the answers to the questions. Probability of passed for guessing answers is 1 in 20 people. Probability of passed for answering correctly is 1 in 3 people

That's why the recruitment for exact manpowers needed to support the commission on its mandates must be carried out if we are hopeful for improvement on Electricity situation in the country. Honestly, it is not all about the skills and experience alone many brilliant applicants possess- I believe that anyone successfully recruited must be trained to make them a match for the roles and responsibilities they applied. Budget must be set aside for this purpose. The aptitude test was a way forward to achieve better candidates- the next phase must be competency interviews with the hope of training those that impressed and succeed. Majority will not passed competency interviews as an exact match for what the commission is looking for except those who have worked or currently working on the exact roles they applied with Electricity Regulatory body. How many applicants will that be? My wish and prayer is that the recruitment end up with the right people that would add values to the commission and in return to benefits the nation. Ameen
