Politics / Re: Picture Of Nigeria Divided: Is This The Future? by olufunmibi(m): 1:27am On Aug 19, 2012
In Nigeria, the ideological commitment
necessary to make federalism work is grossly lacking. This is because, right from its
formative years, Nigerian leaders have been demonstrating a lot of scepticism about
it. Tafawa Balewa once described Lord Lugard's amalgamation of Nigeria as ‘the mistake of 1914’ and
obafemi Awolowo once described Nigerian federalism as ‘an abominable and
disruptive British heritage,. Unfortunately, since these were nationalists and founding
fathers of the federation, their perceptions have come to colour the orientation of
many citizens who also tend to see the country’s federalism in this light. Till date, this
scepticism subsists. Is it not reasonable for us to just end this impasse and go our separate ways? In a simpler term, Can't we just divide this country Nigeria into historically compatible and naturally unifiable entities? Well, the debate continues.
Politics / Re: Picture Of Nigeria Divided: Is This The Future? by olufunmibi(m): 1:19am On Aug 19, 2012
The colonialists in their struggle for the soul of Africa ended up
creating entities with diversity of language and cultures and the resulting problems
which is obviously retardingpost colonial Africa. In the case of Nigeria, the foundation of
this unfortunate malady was formally laid in 1914 when Frederick Lugard
amalgamated the two separate territories of North and South. Indeed, even the two
territories themselves were neither monolithic but the British, for political and economic reasons, hound-wound them together.
The resulting Nigerian state by 1914 was thus an amalgam of disparate territories
which, previously, had little or nothing in common except inter ethnic wars and trade.
Even long after the amalgamation, the two territories were separately administered
thereby creating disparities in their level of socio-political and economic
development. In other words, Nigeria
as at 1914 had been implanted with enough seeds of discord that would mar its future
political stability.
Politics / Re: Reasons Why ACN And CPC Alliance Will Fail by olufunmibi(m): 11:04pm On Aug 15, 2012
Whether Jonathan returns or is eventually sacked, the Northern electorate will largely determine what the outcome will be out of those two mutually exclusive alternatives.

What the ACN and their CPC counterpart should do if they are serious about clinching the presidency come 2015 is to select a presidential candidate that is sellable to the North and can secure voters goodwill down South, whoever that is, is their assignment to find out.

I just pray that we will one day be free from this Unfortunate PDP plague. May the years the locusts (PDP) has eaten be restored.

@amosy007, I don't agree with you and that picture will not be removed. Going by the policy statement of nairaland, the politics section is not a domain for children, this panel is not about Ben 10 " I love you, you love me" frivolities, so children viewing this site should have been busy doing their homework, by the way, they should be spanked by their parents. Now that I don't make up to $870 dollars in a month working my ass off on the rowdy and noisy street of ikorodu lagos, using my 2 feet for logistics and transportation, most ladies I have a crush on see me as a joker but because of the sensitive nature of my job they are polite enough to just tell me that they don't feel God is leading them in that direction or that they think we should just be friends.

I'm sure God will lead many of them in my direction if I had been a Coke/heroine dealer cruising a spanking new "Vroooming" Escalade and accomodated in a luxury crib at VGC.

Well we dey where we dey, hoping one day to meet one who will see the potentials, Prospects and value we carry as something worth signing the dotted lines for.

I agreed I wasted time during my university days,it is proven that you get more real people with less pretension and some reasonable sense of reality while you are still in school than when you are out in the labour market so in a way I take responsibity too!

But on a lighter note all of you guys truly know ugly girls rarely give someone a lot of problems, but to date an ugly girl (and believe me they are so many, countless of them on different prayer mountains in the country beseeching God to send their husbands) requires serious resolution.Between me and you,You know will be absent minded, infact when you marry sex will be like an upleasant homework the type your lesson teacher gives you way back!So tell me who doesn't want to marry an attractive woman?

That very high demand for the attractive woman is what our ladies are cashing on and the most Virile competitor gets the thorough bred dazzling beauty queen which is every man's dream anyway.

you must have the Build/shape or be downright handsome and tall, if you are a musician of great commercial value, think of D'Banj, Banky W,your life don beta be dat.any woman money can buy you have it at least we all watch music vedios where women, booze, and Surplus Money in Dollars are shown as percieved pecks of the Wealthy life.

Still talking about pedigree,if your papa is financially loaded, God has already spoken to the babe on your behalf, the answer is an Automatic YES and Amen!
And if you finished from stanford or Yale and you work in a multinational Corporation, then God has taken control already, the babe is yours except you are "Dulling" just ask! and as the scriptures has said, it shall be given unto you!"All things are yours"

but if you are like me, don't joke with Redemption Camp oh! And anytime you see SHILOH 2012, grab the poster and paste it in your room. Your time for Divine Intervention has come.

But make sure they don't arrange for you to marry any of those Hyperzealous sisters who have destroyed their wombs with habitual multiple abortions in the "world" and are now Spiritual daughters of pastors because of their desperation to secure husbands "Too ba teri si mo sorry fun e gidigan (meaning if you enter that lacuna I'm very sorry for you. Well e go better! All the best dudes!
Romance / Re: Nigerian Version Of Mr Right by olufunmibi(m): 6:13pm On May 11, 2012
Guys we have an emergency on our hands, Women like our mothers who married our fathers when they had one mattress one bucket and one stove and stayed and built with them a successful life are no longer in circulation. If there are, they are 3 in every twenty five thousand. What is our family lives going to look like in this 21st century? I'm very very afraid that only very very few of us will have a marriage of love, the rest who will be the vast majority will only have Marriages of convenience. People will cheat more out of wedlock, there will be more children born out of wedlock, there will be more domestic violences and a sizeable number of them will end in manslaught because there will be so much indignation and frustration. Many spouses will bring sexually transmitted diseases home including HIV. It will be difficult to convince children that Marriage is a desirable thing because they will look at their parents' marriages and be afraid to venture. Proprietors of Boarding schools will be in Big Business. Guys we have an emergency on our hands. God help the young unmarried man, God help the newly married men

Skii:

Why on Earth would I not compare women with cars?! Of course they share every similarity!!

Which man in the house here doesn't know that Mercedes Benz 190, BMW 3-series and all those German cars consume fuel alot? But what still makes us go for them? THE PRESTIGE and the SOUND of THE ENGINE,,,,VROOMMM

So it is with girls, we see them, we know and think to ourselves ",,,,kai, this one go cost o,,," but in the end we still go for them, cos we want to "enjoy" the riiidddeee,,,,!!!

Instead of them (that can't afford it) to go for the Toyotas, Nissans, Mitsubishis that is the coat according to their size, that doesn't require much maintenance, good fuel economy,,,ehn,,,,the type of girl, sorry excuse me, Japanese car, that you can switch on the AC inside hold up

Try that one with German car na?

You go hia wehn!!

gulfer: Do you guys know what Steven Johnson's syndrome means? I lost a cousin to this in 2010 November as a result of the fake Artesunate (poison) reaction in his system. There should be a dead penalty law to anyone found peddling fake pharmaceutical drugs, it is worse than the police's accidental discharge. You can check this link https://www.google.com/search?q=pictures+of+steven+johnson%27s+syndrome&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=M9u&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmd=imvns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=9451T7nqO4-KhQfpzZ2fDQ&ved=0CDkQsAQ&biw=947&bih=593and understand what trauma my cousin and indeed the extended family went through during this time.Diagnoses if not early and drug stopped immediately can be fatal.

I hope the researchers will do a similar study on Artemether/lumefantrine combination which is heavily prescribed as a front line drug in the treatment of malaria. You trusted Coartem, it is hardly working again, they introduce lonart to you as a superior brand and the high retail price gives you an impression that yes! This is the drug, this one will work, then you take the drug 12 hourly for three days enduring that evil smell of it(like you are chewing 30 live Bedbugs) and at the end of it all, you are still not fine! Then the doctor tells you on your third week of hovering around thesame issue that "this time around let us try something else, you will take Artemether injection and chloroquine injection for 3 days. So, whenever you are returning from work after a long day of stress and painstakingly enduring the discomfort and malaise of your ongoing malaria, you return to the hospital for 3 consecutive days and "Aunty Nurse" scatter your "BumBum" for you with the injections the doctor prescribed! After 3 days of taking 6 injections you still wake up in the middle of the night with a temperature of 38 degree celsius, you are still having headache, generalized body pai unwholesome/bitter taste in your mouth, and most annoyingly; weakness- even after what is supposed to be a quality night rest! So what do you do now? you go back to the hospital and "RAKE" Seriously for the doctor, he begs you and says Ok! " Let us Admit you, we will give you Quinine inside a drip, and you will take 6 doses" you oblige. You feel much better and you are discharged after 3 days of admission.Thank God, its been 4 weeks ago you've felt this fine last.So you return to your daily hustles on top gear! Then 2 weeks after you go back to meet the school cert failed Chemist around your house and you ask her to Sell "Amalar" for you because the headache and fever has returned and you cannot go to the hospital at this time of the night! End of story- your Boss at work eventually introduces you to "Silifa Alagbo" (Silifa the herbal concoction merchant)so with your MBA, silifa a primary school leaver with 20 years cognate experience with herbal concoctions becomes your Consultant and confidant on health issues. Is anyone on Nairaland familiar with this kind of a Nigerian story?
