Why was he not sure about his availability initially? Was it due to his lack of conviction or doubt that he was gonna be good enough for us, as said by Thesupernerd's sources?

He didn't specify.

Just to clarify some things cos of all the arguments going on about exclusives or no exclusives.

Toyin Ibitoye said in an interview on lagos talks today that Tobias Lawal was originally invited but was dropped because he wasn't sure if his availability before he later called that he was going to be available.

Also Tobi Adelakun said Ehizibue is being delayed in his own words "he has issues with his immigration status in Holland and once it's sorted he'll be a part of the team"

Good Morning everyone

Captain Ahmed Musa, whose future at Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr remains unclear, and late call-up Paul Onuachu are now the only players yet to join up with the Super Eagles in Austria, officials said.

Ahmed Musa has not been involved in his club’s AFC Champions League campaign since the club made a new star signing.

Onuachu, on the other hand, was a late replacement for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who was excused from the friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia because of travel restrictions caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic.

“Both players should be with us before lunch time,” Eagles spokesman Toyin Ibitoye disclosed.

The squad has been boosted by the arrival of LASK Linz goalkeeper Okiki Lawal, who officials explained was originally invited by the team but his availability was in huge doubt.

There are now four young goalkeepers in Austria – Dele Alampasu, Matthew Yakubu and Maduka Okoye.

The Eagles will have their first training this morning.

Nigeria take on African champions Algeria on Friday night, before they tackle Tunisia next week Tuesday.

The matches will prepare the team for 2021 AFCON double-header against Sierra Leone next month.

Kevin Akpoguma: Ex-German youth star sold on Nigeria 'vision'
By Oluwashina Okeleji
Football Writer, Nigeria
21 September 2020 Sport Africa

Kevin Akpoguma has been on the books of German club Hoffenheim since 2013 and has twice been loaned out
Coach Gernot Rohr says it was his vision for Nigeria that persuaded former Germany youth captain Kevin Akpoguma to commit his international future to the Super Eagles.
Akpoguma, 25, who plays for Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, has a German mother and a Nigerian father - making him eligible to play for the three-time African champions.
And, despite 62 Germany caps from under-16 to under-21 level, the defender has opted to capitalise on the Fifa rules which allows him to switch allegiances.

"It was not my job to convince [Kevin] Akpoguma to come and play for Nigeria," Rohr told BBC Sport.
"I had a good conversation with him and his family while watching several games in Hoffenheim.
"After the matches we met and could talk. I presented our projects and I could speak about the team, about this incredible period in the Super Eagles and my vision for the team.

"He was sold on this and would love to be a part of the team and play in big international competitions like the Africa Cup of Nations or even the World Cup."

Rohr's policy of picking foreign-born players has angered some observers in Nigeria, but he remains unfazed as he continues to increase the selection pool for the Super Eagles.
Since the German took charge in August 2016, the number of players born overseas has risen with the arrivals of Ola Aina, Brian Idowu, Tyronne Ebuehi, Joe Aribo, Maduka Okoye, Kingsley Ehizibue and Cyril Dessers.

Another defensive option
Kevin Akpoguma captained Germany at the 2015 Under-20 World Cup which included a win over a Musa Mohamed-led Nigerian team
Akpoguma's commitment gives the coach an extra option as he looks for a long-term addition to the regular centre back quartet of Kenneth Omeruo, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong and Semi Ajayi.
Amid Rohr's excitement about the prospect of working with the defender, he admits that he will have to wait before welcoming him into the Super Eagles fold.

"We are very happy about the decision of Kevin Akpoguma to switch from Germany to Nigeria," Rohr said.
"Because he played for Germany at youth levels, the process is not finished yet because Fifa must give the authorisation.
"He has fulfilled the written request to switch and we only await the good news that he can finally play for us.
"It's too soon to expect him to play our two friendlies in October, but hopefully for the Nations Cup qualifiers in November."

Born in the western town of Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Akpoguma started his professional career at Karlsruhe SC and also played for Fortuna Düsseldorf.
The 2014 European U19 Championship winner captained Germany at the 2015 Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand, helping them beat Nigeria 1-0 in the second round.

This ekong move makes absolutely no sense (football wise) how do you leave Seria A playing against ronaldo, dybala etc to a small championship league? And these are the type of players that Nigerians expect Thier coach to miraculously get into WC semi final? Very Dumb Move the same way etebo balled at the world cup and moved to Championship instead of staying at La liga. Yes, some people will say it was a financial move but I disagree. Eking could had enjoyed seria A for 3 more seasons then decide to make money oversees. This transfer window has been 50/50. We get the likes of Osimehn, zaidu to big clubs while the likes of Ndidi is now a CB and captain and assistant captain are at Middle east/championship. Na the kind people una want me world cup. I laugh in swahili

Ndidi playing as a CB shouldn't be something to make a big deal really. Declan Rice ,Fabinho, Maquinhos, Kimmich are DM's and they play in other positions as well

Today is the day

The list will be released today.

Some names to expect:

-Zaidu (New)
-Tijani (New)
-Ebuehi (Return after two years)
-Ejuke (New)
-Good Possibility of one or two German-Nigerians based on FIFA clearance status/passport stuff.

Colin Udoh still reports that Tobias is on the list but I think he gives that info based on the last convo he had with Rohr about the list before Tobias' latest communication with Rohr. But we will know for sure. All I know is the withdrawal came very late so that's why it is assumed by most that the lad will still make it. But today will tell. Perhaps he has changed his mind again in the last couple of hours. We will know for sure.

Ejaria??

If they outperform Ekong enough, then he will be benched. But until then... We watch.

Still wishing Ekong the best. Just hoping the end of all this ends up with an EPL move in 2021.

Yes, people don't like Akpoguma mainly because he made us his second choice, but, putting football ahead of sentiment, at the long run, I will choose him ahead of Ekong and Omerou. You can't overlook a starter in the Bundesliga for players in the championship and Segunda.

I hope their paper works get sorted out before January

Yh he and Jordan may just turn out to be our first choice cb especially with the type of moves our CB's are making, that's the bitter truth
