Kog45: Apart from Balogun in the last friendlies others are bunch of average and fact remains Akpoguma failed to live up-to the hypes,so let see Ehzibue first in GWG before you send others packing. Sir let's chill and watch him play other games. in truth none of our players turned up in the two friendlies except Balogun. But Balogun also has had poor games in the Super Eagles. Let's see how the other players fare in other games |

Eguavoen’s appointment as NFF Technical Director thrills coaches
The appointment of a former Super Eagles captain and coach, Augustine Eguavoen, as the Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has been commended by Nigerian coaches. Eguavoen’s elevation into the top position to oversee all technical matters in Nigerian football, was ratified at last Tuesday’s Executive Committee meeting of the country’s highest football governing body.
Eguavoen is a member of the trailblazing Super Eagles set of 1994 that won the AFCON title the same year and earned Nigeria’s first ticket to play in the FIFA World Cup in USA in 1994. With this new appointment, he is expected to chart the technical direction of Nigerian football, a task that the former defender is all too conversant with having worked as a technical guru all his years in football.
Speaking on Eguavoen’s appointment, a former Super Falcons coach, Godwin Izilein, said it was a step in the right direction, adding that Eguavoen has the requisite wealth of experience to energise the technical arm of Nigerian football for optimum performance. Izilein described Eguavoen as a person of impeccable character, whose passion for excellence and commitment to the growth of Nigerian football was top notch, tipping him to succeed in his new plum position.
Also speaking, former Enyimba and Rangers Coach, Segun Ogunbote, said Eguavoen’s appointment as the generalismo of NFF’s technical department was going to usher in new vim and vitality into Nigerian football. “Eguavoen is a thoroughbred professional who understands technical issues. I see new things beckoning for our football,” said Ogunbote, who most recently, was in charge of Lobi Stars of Makurdi. |

Icon4s: Have you noticed any remarkable improvement on Simon and Kalu in the last 2yrs? They are even on a decline if you ask me. The only winger that "may not" have reached his prime is Chukwueze but he too needs to work on his game as he is becoming predictable. I don't count Iwobi as a winger because I don't like the idea of playing him from the wings. Yes and yes. Moses Simon went from a goal goal and no assist in 2018/2019 season to 9 goals and 8 assists, being nominated for Prix Marc-Vivien Foé and winning his club's player of the season and goal of the season in 2019/2020. If that's not an improvement then I don't know what to call it. Samuel Kalu struggled last season. But this season he has already doubled his poor tally of one goal last season in just his third start this season. Players do have times where they struggle. The only person I'm scared for is Henry Onyekuru who looks to be declining at an alarming rate |

now we need 4 extra wingers.
I thought some people here once said that we didn't need Bukayo Saka because we have enough Wingers?
We have so many average wingers in that Team. None of the current Wingers can measure up to Victor Moses and Ahmed Musa when they were at their prime. None of our wingers are at their prime yet. And BTW you called our wingers average which they are. D question is was Musa and Moses not average at their prime as well. BTW moses best days as a footballer came as a Wing Back |

If yes you'll know that Iran is a very solid team. They play good football. They will beat most African teams even Nigeria . They don't necessarily play good football. They are just difficult to beat |

Danielnino00: You are still talking rubbish...
Making commitment to a country is one thing... Applying for a switch of nationality is another thing...
Since how many months did Lookman and Ejaria apply for their switch?
Again, despite your so called knowledge of English football, why are you hell bent on ignoring the fact that it has been mentioned before that it is hard for English born players to switch allegiance because of the process involved... Why will the NFF be running around to get the players to switch allegiance and then delay it? What's the sense in that?? And to think that one of the person involved in this process is Tunde Adelakun who is in UK. |

andrewbaba44: Wilfred ndidi is 23 and its not compulsory he will join a big club at 23, vvd was almost 28 when he joined liverpool and the rest is history
Partey offers something different from ndidi and arsenal needs something different and thomas should be the cheaper player, not taking his qualities away
Trust me i dont want ndidi at everton even thou they are a better club than leicester, even doucoure and ndidi are 2 different type of players self
But ndidi wont go for 30 million, psg prefer cheap players this days after the neymar purchase , go and check it and see for your self, Gueye made it to a big club at 30 and you are saying such about ndidi who is just 23 ? you need to calm down
Sol bamba was 34 while playing for cardiff in the epl and you expected teams to come for him, bamba was never better than VVD forget that one you dey yarn, you must be deluded for expecting a team like liverpool to go for a 34 year old bamba who boast of just championship experience or others bigger team because you think bamba is a thiago silva, ramos pique or bonucci and some few others (These are players who can get big clubs at their age 33 upward)
Ndidi will not make england team that boast of kalvin phillip of leeds starting and harry winks, with all due respect you are MAD
Harry winks and kalvin phillip are not half the player ndidi is
This guy is just 23 for crying out loud
I for like argue with person wey know ball walai E say with all due respect Midfielders like Dier, Delph, Philips and Winks makes England team but Ndidi will not |

komekn: [s]Unfortunately our preferences are not reflected in the football market.
Ndidi for reasons unknown has not been able to generate interest in his outstanding talent by big clubs, WHY ❓
It's not about price alone.
Arsenal went to go and get Athletico Madrid DM Partey, Everton decided to go for Dacour from relegated Watford. Going back in time even PSG preferred a much older Gueye and paid £30 million for him, than go for a supposed much better Ndidi.
So step back, put aside your emotive preferences and there has to be a reason.
When Cardiff was in the EPL Sol Bamba had better stats than Virgil Van Dyke. But nobody came in for him Bamba he is back in the Championship with Cardiff. The question is Why❓
The decision to buy a player will not test entirely on statistics. Because statistics are indicative and not conclusive, there are many things that are not captured by stats.
With regards to Ndidi, he will not make the England team. His passing range is very limited and his ability to change the game offensively limited. There are other DM who do this much better than him.
Again putting emotive sentiment and national preference aside. However, if he adds s better passing range and tactical game management that they noise game, then he could see himself in a much bigger team. [/s] |

komekn: [s]I still think without an iota of doubt and or arrogance but plain objectivity he will walk into the SE Midfield.
Will Aribo, Frank Onyeka, Tijani, Iwobi, Agu, Azeez, Ndidi, Seyi, etc displace Rueben Loftus-Cheek in the Fulham team. I very much doubt that.
Bearing that thought in mind because it's obvious you don't have the attribute of objectivity. You jumped with emotive sentiment and negative bias.
This is normal practice in football player rotation, when even Pogba got dropped, or Barkley, did anybody write off these players.
Tega has missed 2 games and you have written him off with rhetorical disdain. Your prejudice is naked. No other Nigerian player will not play a few games and you write off, with celebration.
You should try restrain yourself and get some OBJECTIVITY. [/s] No need for all this shalaye. Chop your L

On a final note, whatever response I've seen here is typical of Nigerian fans. The moment we lose a game, we become the worst team in world football, we win a game and we are the next best thing since God created the Garden of Eden. I can remember how we praised our team after we drew Brazil. Now we lost and all of a sudden our players are academy quality.
It's just a friendly guys, let's not allow our emotions get the better of us. We were poor but all the same there were also some positives. Like the coach said, it's just to test.
Good night guys |

Thank God for today's game. if Ndidi had played we'll have been hearing that he's the one stifling our attack and Agu would have been better Danielnino00: Our pressing game today was almost non existent...we didn't even commit enough men forward.. Iwobi appeared to be the only one trying to get the ball to Onuachu..

mehn an eyesore of a match My observations: Ndidi, Etebo and Osimhen don't have able replacement. Will love to see Dessers tho. Agu and Onuachu should just take this match as a testimonial. Azeez is miles ahead of whoever we paraded in the middle today
Ebuehi and Sanusi were very good. Chukwueze and Kalu probably had their worse performance in a Nigerian jersey so far. But then, after they were substituted we had zero goal threat. Their poor performance could be because there was no striker they could link up with.
Ekong was probably the worst of any of our player who played as a defender today. Balogun was really impressive
Okoye was very solid and confident
Gernot Rohr has to be the biggest flop today. Zero reading of the game, zero tactical input. Poor substitutions.
Tunisia has to be better and hope we see more of the new guys as well so we'll know who are the quality ones and who are the pretenders |

CornOak: Points to note:
1. The team last played 11 months ago 2. Had training for 3 days before match 3. Several new players 4. Match was a test game with less emphasis on result (highlighted by the coach) 5. Our key players were missing
These points led to:
6. Low team cohesion, communication, and spirit 7. Exposed unwanted players 8. Identified our weak areas ( midfield and set pieces issue which hasn't been solved yet)
Well, the points above are no excuses for the shambolic display. However, we should note that today's match was fairly okay considering these factors. By the way, both teams were not impressive either.
Lastly, the technical crew still has a lot of work to do to bring the team back to order. So I agree with your point about Rohr.
PS: Tunisia beat Sudan 3-0 today.
Best Criticism I've seen so far |
