Politics2023: Stop APC From Destroying Nigeria, Says Wike by Oluwamarc(op): 1:28am On Jun 29, 2020
River's State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has called on Nigerians not to allow the All Progressives Congress to continue to keep the country in its current calamitous state.

This was as the governor said he was not nursing the ambition of running for the office of the President of Nigeria.

Wike, who spoke when he appeared as a guest on Arise Television, explained that the Peoples Democratic Party was interested in taking over power in 2023 with a view to moving the nation forward and out of its current state.

“The APC should not be allowed to continue to keep the country in its present calamitous state. We want to take over to move Nigeria forward,” the governor said.

On speculations that he was gunning for the presidency, Wike stated, “Right now, I am focusing on delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Rivers State.

“To clear every speculation, let me state that I am not going to run for the office of the President of Nigeria for now. I am concentrating on developing Rivers State. I am not a party to anybody saying that the problem in the PDP is about 2023.

“That can be the problem in the APC because it is the ruling party. This is the last tenure of Mr President and he is going. So, people are hustling to take over from him within his party. The PDP has nothing to do with that because the way it is now, we are taking over from nothing.”

Commenting on former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar’s aspiration to contest for the presidency again, Wike said it was a fundamental right that could not be denied.

The governor described as unfortunate the failure of security agencies to apprehend members of a pro-Amaechi group that threatened to destroy the state.

PoliticsBank Take Over Properties Of Ondo APC Guber Aspirant, Over Debt by Oluwamarc(op): 1:04am On Jun 29, 2020
The Assets Management Company of Nigeria (AMCON) has seized the Akure private residence of the pioneer State Chairman of APC in Ondo State and also a governorship aspirant of the party, Hon. Isaac Kekemeke.
A reliable source revealed that the

huge debt owed a leading commercial bank by Kekemeke became a non-performing loan when it was not serviced for a number of years. According to the source, non-performance of the hugely accumulated debt had necessitated the transfer of the debt to AMCON by the concerned commercial bank.

Moreso, the source added that AMCON is also considering the take over of more than 100 plots of land belonging to Kekemeke along Oba-Ile road, beside Jojein Hotel in Akure. It was also revealed that the immediate take over of the land by AMCON appears the only way out for the former Ondo State APC Chairman in view of the enormity of the total accrued debt.

However, different legal opinions have been given on the recent move of AMCON against Kekemeke; who is also contesting for the governorship position of Ondo State on the platform of APC. An Akure based lawyer who pleaded anonymity said Kekemeke could still not be considered bankrupt in the eye of the law. Although, he emphasized that Kekemeke could as well be considered a technically insolvent person for now.

Meanwhile, the lawyer reiterated that the Nigerian constitution did clarify that a bankrupt person cannot contest any elective position. He also added that anyone that is pronounced bankrupt by a court of competent jurisdiction could no longer occupy any position of trust. He was however quick to add that being insolvent was not the same as bankruptcy.

The lawyer however opined that it was not morally improper for any individual who appeared to have failed in the management of his personal finance to still aspire to preside over the management of the finance and resource of an entire state.

Tension heightened on Saturday’s night at the Ondo State Government House in Alagbaka, Akure after the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi was prevented from leaving the Government House by the Commissioner of Police, Salami Bolaji.

bioreports gathered that the security operatives were acting out the order of the Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The Deputy Governor was alleged to have looted government property from his lodge in his bid to take them to his personal house within the state capital.

The move against Ajayi was not unconnected to his planned defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, that is expected to take place on Sunday.

In a video obtained by bioreports, the deputy governor was seen exchanging words with the Commissioner of Police, Salami Bolaji at the gate of the Government House as he was prevented from leaving. PoliticsDespite Fall In Revenue, I Won't Sack Ondo Workers, Says Akeredolu by Oluwamarc(op): 4:32pm On Jun 16, 2020
Ondo State workers got a basketful of good news on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 as Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu Aketi, SAN, directed that 3,650 deserving workers should be promoted before the end of this year.

This is just as the governor allayed the workers' palpable fears over the state government's plan to sack or retrench some of them in spite of the fact that salary payment is taking a major toll on the state's finances.

Representatives of labour unions in the state rose to applaud the Akeredolu-led government when the state Head of Service, Mr. Dare Aragbaye, told them at a well-attended press briefing at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor's Office in Akure that all the deserving 3,650 workers would get their financial benefits up to date.

Aragbaye said Governnor Akeredolu equally took the administration of pension and gratuity of retirees seriously.

He said: "In his avowed determination to translate his electoral promises to actions, this administration has released the total sum of N6.12 billion for part payment of the backlog of unpaid gratuity inherited in 2017.

"This feat was achieved through monthly release of N200 million to the fund for part payment of gratuity to pensioners. This is in addition to the payment of six months arrears of pension out of the seven months inherited from the immediate past administration in 2017."

The Head of Service added that the current administration also implemented the 33 percent basic pension increase for pensioners in Ondo State Public Service up till October 2014 along with the N30,000 minimum wage.

With the implementation of the 33 percent basic pension increase, Ondo State took the lead among its colleagues in the South-West.

Due to his government's love for the senior citizens, the governor has reduced the number of needed documents for processing pensions from 30 to 14 and eliminated the activities of exploitative syndicate and fraudsters hitherto associated with pension process.

Job applicants also got a piece of the good news on Tuesday. Governnor Akeredolu approved the recruitment of 1,000 teachers with B.ED & NCE qualifications. Two hundred vacancies are for candidates with B.ED, while 800 are for those with NCE holders.

The recruitment exercise will start within the next two weeks, as prospective candidates are urged to visit SUBEB portal for further information.
Also, Akeredolu-led government gave approval for the recruitment of health workers to fill the existing vacancies.

In order to fill the personnel gaps identified in the critical areas of the Primary Heald Care sector in the 18 local government areas of the state, the governor approved the filling of 432 vacancies in its different cadres.

The recruitment exercise, which will be facility-based, would commence in no distant time, as prospective candidates are to visit ODSPHCDA portal in due course.

PoliticsAkeredolu Goes Emotional As He Receives Nomination, Expression Of Interest Forms by Oluwamarc(op): 6:46pm On Jun 12, 2020
...SAYS I'M SHORT OF WORDS

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, on Friday went emotional while receiving the Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms bought for him by lawmakers and the various support groups in the state.

The First Lady, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu also joined her husband to receive the forms.

It will be recalled that Nineteen members of the APC Caucus in the Ondo State House of Assembly were in Abuja on Thursday to purchase the Expression of Interest Form for the Governor, while various support groups from the state were also at the national Secretariat to purchase his Nomination form.

Seventeen of the members of the Assembly, led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, presented the Expression of interest Form to the Governor at the Government House, Alagbaka, Akure.

Arakunrin Akeredolu described the gesture of the lawmakers and the various support groups as priceless, while expressing his gratitude to the people.

The Governor said: "I'm short of words. For all these different groups, I want to thank you. When you see them on the social media, I don't see why anybody would say he wants to challenge us. I didn't give anyone any money. I didn't give the house of assembly members any money, yet you went to Abuja and bought me these forms. I thank you all.”

He said the second term bid of his administration will further put the state on the pedestal of accelerated development and put a seal on the foundation of progress that has already been laid.

Presenting the expression of interest form to the Governor, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Oleyelogun said the Governor deserves the double portion as mentioned in the bible.

He said: "We believe in what we see in you. You have worked and you deserve double portion. And the double portion is your second term. The APC Caucus in the House of Assembly is solidly behind you."

Speaking on behalf of the various support groups, the coordinator, who also doubles as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Strategy, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan, said what happened in Abuja where the forms were purchased with funfair was a clear signal of victory for the Governor.

He said: "Your choice for a second term is destined by God and the work you have done in this state in the last three years and five months is unbelievable. This is what propelled us to decide that we must purchase this form for you.

"The foundation you are laying now must not stop. Port Ondo must not stop. Agagu came and he was unable to complete it. It was truncated and we don't want this to be truncated too. We don't want Ondo-Linyi to stop.

"One thing that is not clear to people is that God doesn't make mistake. It was during Baba Ajasin that a lot of industries were established in this state. When you came in 2016, none of these industries was functioning anymore. But today, you have started bringing back those industries.

"Your giant stride in Ondo state can not be quantified. Is it in the area of road construction, health sector or the regular payment of salary and your efforts on bitumen exploration?

"For all these to be realised, we need you to contest for a second term. We want you to lay that foundation and once the foundation is laid, nobody will deviate from the path of prosperityand progress."

The Lawmakers as well as groups from across all the local government councils in Ondo State today 11th of June 2020, said they decided to buy the nomination form for the governor because of their conviction that his tenure has brought lot of blessings to the people of the state.

This makes Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu the first Gubernatorial Candidate to pick the form under the auspices of the APC, according to an insider account it was revealed that other candidates might be finding it a bit difficult coming to terms with the required funds to purchase both the nomination and interest form as they are yet to pick their forms.
While the Lawmakers were at the Secretariat for the Expressions of interest Form, the Representatives of the various support groups from the state were also there to obtain the nomination form for the Governor
The groups include: Pentagon Movement Group; Ibi Giga Grassroots Network; Ibi Giga Ambassadors; Aketi one to one; Advocacy Group; Mandate group; The democractic Movement; representatives of the State Executive Council; lawmakers from both the state and national assemblies; Ilaje Focus Movement and the Democratic Network Alliance among others.

Speaking at the event, the coordinator of the group, who also doubles as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Strategy, Rt. Hon. While presenting the forms to the Groups, the National Organising Secretary of the party, Emmanuel Ibediro said the groups are the first to take the form for the Ondo State Governor election on the platform of the APC.

He assured that the party will conduct a free, fair and credible primary election in a way that whoever emerged the candidate of the party will enjoy the support of all and sundry. as a result of the giant strides recorded by his administration since he assumed office.

Olabimtan, who described the Governor as Mr. "Talk and Do", stressed that Akeredolu has displayed unique leadership qualities that has endeared him to the masses.

He said: " We are here to obtain the nomination form for Governor Akeredolu. Both the expression of interest and nominations forms. This money is not by the Governor. The exco, state house of assembly, the national assembly and various support groups are the ones who joined hands and contributed the money.

"We want to thank you and the national chairman for all the work you are doing at the national secretariat. We know that as the father of all, we are sure that our primary will be free , fair, transparent and credible as you have always done."

The spokesperson for the lawmakers, Rt. Hon. Aderoboye Samuel said the Governor has proved to be a worthy leader whose leadership has improved the lives of the people.

He said obtaining the expression of interest form by members of the state assembly is a way of paying back to the Governor for being a dependable leader at all times.

He said: "We were not compelled and we didn't borrow. We came together and decided to obtain the expression of interest form for our amiable Governor."

He said: " I want to assure our August visitors that APC has come to stay. APC has become a household name. In the last election, we are able to bring back our president . We have elected more Governors and more National Assembly members. APC is a great institution.

"With particular reference to Ondo state, the primary in Ondo State will be transparent, free and fair. As it is now all interest must collapse for whoever emerge as the candidate."
