dammodee911: Welldone. Even your enquiry layout is better composed than some of us who didn't drop out! I will attempt to answer you from two perspective. Studying in the UK is premised on two things. 1. Education 2. Potential Immigration Education is what your sponsor (University) see. Potential immigrant is what UKVI sees. And you damn need to scale these two hurdles. Now for Education: You need to find a school that will offer you a first degree - lay your cards on the table. I'm sure one will. It will be helpful if you can explain what you have been doing over the years and how getting a first degree now will help you towards your dream/career. You may also want to let them know why you dropped out and why they shouldn't be worried it may happen again if offered an admission this time around. For VISA - again like i said, you will be seen as a potential immigrant and you must convince the relevant authorities that the main purpose of coming to the UK is to study and you will willing depart after your course. You must also note that as an undergraduate, you may not be able to sponsor any dependant into the UK while you're studying. They may only come as visitors. Goodluck. 1 Like |

Innocent94: 1. Go to www.google.com and type in this search there. I'm sure there would me millions of hits. Pick one school that meets your need. 2. By cheap, I assume you mean affordability? in that case, most masters programme in the UK would usually charge you average of £10000 for a one year course and £13000 for a two years course. Goodluck |

Adebayojide: I may have a different opinion. There is no requirement to divulge your personal relationship matters but it may be worth it to mention any major change to your status or circumstance. even if its just mentioning it in the further comments session. However, if there is a child involved, then you must mention it. |

[quote author=mrkenth post=86296132] one of my relative sent me the form by mail today .. I’m going to print it out and fill them also thumbprint in the appropriate place .. I intend sending it by post to him in Nigeria .. when he receive it he can then contact them in Lagos to help me get the certificate.. I don’t know if that will work [/quote Like people already mentioned, I’m not sure if this is acceptable. The process involves getting your finger print done by a reputable security outfit here and then it’s forwarded to Nigeria electronically. This will involve contacting the Nigerian High commission in the UK. I’m also aware you can get it the way you’re already going about it but there are questions around if that’s the right way. Also, depending on the DBS you’re after, you should normally be able to get one from the Police in the UK even if you’ve only been here for a month. I imagine what you’re really after is BPSS which requires a police report from Nigeria. Good luck |

I have tried to provide some clarity of parents applying for visa alongside their dependants. Please note that this DOES NOT apply to VISITING Visa.

dami24: As part of verification process, they would usually use an email address they are able to get from other trusted sources (eg - schools web page, internet search) and not necessarily the one you provided in your letter. I can see the school has a couple of them online, I'm sure one of those addresses has your conformation enquiry. Peradventure even if the email address does not exist, UKVI would have gotten the notification of a failed delivery which is clearly not the case here. Depending on how far you want to pursue this, I'm sure your sponsorship enquiry is in one of the email addresses held by the institution. Also, in some cases, UKVI has sent confirmation enquiries to individual email addresses of an institution. So might be worth checking with registrar as well. Good luck. |

dami24: Apologies for the refusal. But I've seen a letter just exactly like this one from someone on this forum a couple of weeks ago. This is essentially the HO sending a mail to an un-monitored email address. Was there a contact details in the letter you provided (ie email and phone number)? If NO, the agency carrying out checks for the HO would have used google to get the email address of the university. Get down to the university and let them have a look at all their correspondence email address, I'm more than certain that the confirmation letter from the HO is somewhere sat there unattended to with a couple of reminders. You can also do a google search for the email address of the university and see what comes up, i just did. And note, the default means of contact (for confirmations and verifications) for the HO is email. 1 Like |

LagosismyHome: Spot on! However, if they are still together but either of them is not willing to apply as a dependant, then you must give a compelling reason why not. I still struggle to imagine one. The main reason for the policy is to keep family close together as much as possible. |

Icesnow: I will try to answer your question based on a few assumptions. Assumption one: You're separated from the father of your child Assumption two: He's willing to have you travel with the child outside the country Assumption three: He's willing to visit every now and again. Assumption: Said child answers the last name of the father If the above are all true, a consent letter is not enough to secure a dependent visa for the child. The UKVI will want t understand the relationship between the two adults and you will usually achieve this using court papers (NOT affidavit). You need to proof that you have sole responsibility for the said child. Goodluck. 1 Like |

dami24: Hmm, this is not entirely correct. Her school is right. As long as you submit an application with a CAS, it will be used at some point. It will be quite misleading to assume that once the CAS status changes to used, then a decision has been made. Quite logical and straight forward here - all things being equal - and by equal i mean, your passport document is original and your CAS was issued by the sponsor. The next other thing to worry about is your Bank statement. So if the HO send you a mail that your application is not straight forward or its taking them sometime to make a decision, 7 out of 10 times, its got to do with a check in Nigeria....your bank statement. |

Idowu3080: As far as I’m aware, money held in fixed deposit or call accounts or any other of such accounts do not qualify as money immediately available to you. Basically, the money needs to be held in a savings or current account for the said number of days. As for the 150k earnings per month, no one cares tbh. As long as you can afford the masters program and you’re able to demonstrate that, you’re fine. 1 Like |

Just a heads up. If you’ve submitted your Application around early or middle December and you’re still awaiting a decision, it may be worth giving your bank a nudge through your account officer to confirm if there’s a pending correspondence from the HO. In as much as the replies are strictly confidential, at least you would know they are not the ones delaying you. |

Ok. So a few points here. I do understand it’s the nature of most Nigerians to prey on vulnerable people, and that’s fine but it would be foolish to assume everyone is like that and then turn down help when you clearly need one or someone is offering. Two, it is almost impossible to have experienced every single scenario when it comes to immigration. My point is, you can’t know it all! You can only advice from your perspective and experience. In such cases, when someone brings a fresh idea or an opinion, don’t be quick to shove it off because you don’t know about it! In that way, you will never ever learn or be better! Three, it’s not everything we can discuss in public. People have genuine reasons to be anonymous...it could be that there’s a clash of internet here.. |

Roverguy: At the risk of sounding like a broken record now, I will advice you to be very careful when filling the visa application form. The reason is that you have a refusal under the visitor category and your wife is now applying for a visa in the PBS where you will be automatically issued a dependant visa if she gets her visa and you’re able to prove yourself relationship. The burden of proof rest on you to convince the HO beyond reasonable doubt that she’s a genuine student. It may even be easier for the person who was rejected on the visiting visa to be the main applicant for the student visa, but hey, I don’t know your personal situation or circumstance. Good luck. |

LaaJiblik: Like you have rightly mentioned, if you’re approaching the high street letting agencies for a rent, they will definatly carry out a credit check on you. Without cash payment for the full year rent, your credit score is the only other indicator that you will keep up with your payments. The guarantor in many cases is a character guarantor and NOT a financial guarantor should you default in payment. My advice is to look for studio flats from private landlords because it will be rare to find someone put up a whole house for rent without using letting agencies. Though I have seen a few in Sheffield like that where someone rents the whole house from the landlord and then starts subletting to other Nigerian students. This was years ago, I doubt if stuffs like that still happen. |
