Abuja - All Progressives Congress has hit back at the
People’s Democratic Party after the latter alleged
President Muhammadu Buhari was shielding former
Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, from prosecution.
PDP made the allegation through a statement by Felix
Obua, Rivers State PDP Chairman, signed by his media
assistant, Jerry Needam.
“An overview of the eight-paragraph gibberish write-up
undeniably offers a pen picture of an unstable state of
mind of the writer, his boss and political party. Indeed, it
tells of a group of persons who are operating within the
horribly pathetic world of full-blown lunacy,” Chris
Finebone APC Rivers State Publicity Secretary, said.
He said the APC believed that the “obsession with
Amaechi by Jerry Needam and his so-called sponsors was
a testimony of a deliberate plot to discredit the former
governor at all cost.
“It underscores the real reasons for the so-called judicial
commission of inquiry set up by the Rivers State
Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike. The APC is sure that those
who are digging ditches for former Governor Chibuike
Amaechi will ultimately become victims of their own
devices.”
Finebone insisted no amount of blackmail on Amaechi and
the ongoing blackmail on President Muhammadu Buhari
would stir up ill feelings between the duo.
“As many times as they try shall they fail,” Finebone said.

Abuja - The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Thursday
ordered two Permanent Secretaries from Adamawa, Dr
Bala Usman and Mamud Abubakar, to appear before it on
November 16 over charges on non-declaration assets.
Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, issued the
summon in Abuja at the resumed trial of the duo.
"The accused persons must appear before this tribunal on
November 16," Umar said.
Earlier, Aliyu Ahmad, Counsel to the accused persons,
urged the tribunal to adjourn to give him time to study an
application filed by the prosecutor.
Ahmad explained that he had filed a no case application
and served same on the prosecutor.
He said the prosecuting counsel, Peter Danladi, had also
filed a reply to his no case application and would need
time to respond.
Danladi did not oppose the application for adjournment.
He apologised for the delay in filing and serving the
defense counsel with the reply. |
President Buhari has made it known that he will not treat those who voted for him the same he will do those who did not vote him into power. During a question and answer session in the US yesterday, President Buhari made this known. When a female white journalist asked the president how he intended to deal with issues in the Niger Delta, particularly Amnesty, bunkering and inclusive development, the president said “(Going by election results), constituencies that gave me 97% can not in all honesty be treated, on some issues, with constituencies that gave me 5%. I think these are political realities. While, certainly there will be justice for everybody but the people who voted, and made their votes count, they must feel the government has appreciated the effort they put in putting the government in place. I think this is really fair.... President Buhari concluded his four-day state visit to the United States on the invitation of President Barrack Obama on July 22, Wednesday. video t come soon |
Nigeria’s ex-president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, may be
seeking a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),
following a snub by president Muhammadu Buhari.
Obasanjo, a former army general, who publicly ripped his
party membership card, is said to be planning a return to
the PDP through the back door as his relationship with
the Nigerian president has refused to improve.
Former president, Olusegun Obasanjo (left) may be on his
way back to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if
reports are anything to go by
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the president rejected
every attempt by the Ogun state-born politician to get
close to him (Buhari), shortly after he won the March 28
presidential election.
Obasanjo, who had publicly stated his preference for
Buhari ahead of former president, Goodluck Jonathan,
had reportedly made the first move to get cozy, with the
establishment of a think tank to study critical areas of the
economy and make recommendations to guide Buhari.
The committee, established under the Centre for Human
Security, an offshoot of Obasanjo’s presidential library,
studied five key areas – education, power, the economy,
security and infrastructure.
Reports confirmed that Obasanjo did not only present the
report to Buhari, he also positioned and presented
Stephen Orosanye to the president as a possible
candidate for the post of the secretary to the federation
which the Nigerian leader may not have favoured.
Garba Shehu, Buhari’s chief spokesperson, had told
reporters that the vice chairman of the committee and
former minister of finance, Dr Kalu Idika Kalu, presented
volumes of the report to Buhari in Abuja, but it was
unclear if the president is looking towards that direction.
And since it was gathered that Obasanjo’s ultimate goal
was to be in the good books of Buhari and evade any
form of scrutiny from his administration which seems not
to be forthcoming, the Owu high chief may be seeking a
return to the party which brought him into prominence.
Pointblanknews.com further hinted that Obasanjo’s
current move is to block any attempt to make immediate
past president, Goodluck Jonathan the BoT chairman of
the party.
A PDP source reportedly revealed that Obasanjo has
already begun moves to return to the party after setting
up meetings with PDP governors in the South- South and
South- East, but it seems that a handful of them are not
buying the idea, due to Obasanjo’s inglorious past and
how he subjected Jonathan and the party to public
ridicule.
Former Akwa Ibom state governor, Senator Godswill
Akpabio, is also reportedly being used by Obasanjo to
convince others and is being groomed for a vice
presidential spot in 2019 with a Northerner, preferably
embattled former governor of Jigawa state, Sule Lamido.
Lamido, is being tried for an allegation N10 billion fraud
which also involved his two sons.
Ijaw youths had slammed Obasanjo following his
comments on Jonathan, describing the comments as
baseless, false and condemnable. |
The Punch reports that Kpodo made the call at a news
conference in Yenagoa on July 22, Wednesday.
Speaking with journalists, the factional chairman said the
former president, his wife should be prosecuted for the
alleged looting of Nigeria’s resources.
Kpodo also stated that the acceptance of defectors to the
ruling APC was an illegal action because it provided cover
for corrupt politicians and fake protection against
prosecution by Buhari.
“As a decent state executive, we consider the attempt to
make the APC a dumping ground unacceptable and
vexatious. APC in the state will not allow the party to
become a dumping ground for desperate looters and thieves
in need of protection from prosecution.
“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari to order a detailed
investigation into the acts of fraud and embezzlement by
these defectors and their associates.
“We support the moves by Buhari for the prosecution of
former President Goodluck Jonathan, his wife, Patience
Jonathan and his known associates for the looting and
associated crimes committed against the state,” Kpodo
said.
Earlier this week, constitutional lawyer, Professor Itse
Sagay, threw his weight behind the move to probe ex-
president and his administration, describing it as a move
in the right direction.
Meanwhile, Matthew Iduoiriyekemwen, the Peoples
Democratic Party chieftain and an aspirant in the 2016
governorship election in Edo state, insisted that if Buhari
starts probing the activities of past regimes in Nigeria, he
must extend it to 1999. |
Abuja - The acting Chairman of the Independent National
Electoral Commission (INEC), Amina Zakari, is to continue
to act in that capacity until a substantive Chairman is
appointed for the commission, reports Vanguard.
Zakari tenure as a National Commissioner in the
commission ended on Tuesday.
Justifying her continued stay in office, the commission
said the letter issued to her as acting Chairman of the
commission supersedes that of her appointment as a
National Commissioner
Nick Dazang, INEC’s Deputy Director of Publicity, said
there was no ambiguity over the position of Zakari in INEC
having been named the acting Chairman of the
commission by the President.
He stated that Zakari did not need to leave at the end of
her tenure as a National Commissioner but would continue
to oversee the affairs of the commission pending the
appointment of a substantive Chairman by government. -
There has been anxiety in the commission over the status
of Zakari following the end of her tenure in the
commission on Tuesday.
President Mohammudu Buhari had at the expiration of the
tenure of the immediate past Chairman of the commission,
Professor Atahiru Jega, named Zakari as the acting
Chairman.

Washington — President Barack Obama welcomed
President Muhammadu Buhari to the Oval Office on
Monday and praised him for working to bring "safety,
security and peace" to a nation challenged by economic
strains, a history of corruption and violence unleashed by
the extremist group Boko Haram.
Obama met with President Muhammadu Buhari less than
eight weeks after Buhari took office to underscore the
importance the U.S. attaches to good relations with
Nigeria.
The president said Buhari had "a very clear agenda in
defeating Boko Haram and extremists of all sorts inside of
his country. And he has a very clear agenda in terms of
rooting out the corruption that too often has held back the
economic growth and prosperity of his country."
Obama, speaking to reporters at the outset of the meeting,
said the U.S. hoped to partner with the country "so that
Nigeria ends up being not only an anchor of prosperity
and stability in the eastern part of the continent, but can
also be an outstanding role model for developing countries
around the world."
He added that he would discuss with Buhari how the two
nations can cooperate on counter-terrorism and how the
U.S. "can be helpful in addressing some of the corruption
issues that have held Nigeria back."
Buhari, for his part, said Nigeria would be "ever grateful" to
the U.S. for its support of free elections in his country.
Buhari said U.S. and European pressures to ensure the
election was "fair and credible led us to where we are
now."
U.S. relations with Nigeria soured over failures by the
government and military, including the inability to locate
more than 200 school girls, most of them Christian, who
were kidnapped by Boko Haram from the northern town of
Chibok in April 2014. The abduction led to international
condemnation and a campaign to "Bring Back Our Girls"
that reached as far as the White House.
Then-President Goodluck Jonathan was angered by the
U.S. refusal to sell his government helicopter gunships
and retaliated by halting a U.S. military training program.
Relations are now expected to improve under Buhari, a 72-
year-old former military dictator who has pledged
allegiance to democracy and promised to address U.S.
concerns.
Obama extended his invitation for a visit to Buhari almost
immediately after he was declared the winner of the March
election.
"This feels to us like Nigeria is at an important moment in
which there can be real reforms across the board," Grant
Harris, the senior director for African affairs at the
National Security Council, told reporters last week. "We're
looking forward to what we can do with a president who
has staked out an agenda that we think is the right
agenda at the right time."
Besides the Oval Office meeting with Obama, Buhari is to
meet with Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State
John Kerry and other senior administration officials.

Lagos - Tourism stakeholders on Saturday called for a
Disneyland franchise in Nigeria to boost the nation's
tourism sector.
The stakeholders said a replication of Disneyland Park in
the country would transform it into tourists’ destination.
Disneyland Park, originally Disneyland, is the first of two
theme parks built at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim,
California, opened on July 17, 1955.
It is the only theme park designed and built under the
direct supervision of Walt Disney a renowned Hollywood
movie entrepreneur.
Walt Disney came up with the concept of Disneyland after
visiting various amusement parks with his daughters in
the 1930s and 1940s.
After hiring a consultant to help him determine an
appropriate site for his project, Walt bought a 160-acre
site near Anaheim in 1953.
Disneyland has a larger cumulative attendance than any
other theme park in the world with over 650 million guests
since it opened.
Mrs Nike Okundaye, the Managing Director of Nike Arts
Gallery, Lagos, said she was amazed at the wonders at
Disneyland at Los Angeles, U.S. which had unique rides,
toys, games, animals among others.
She said the equipment were capable of keeping an
individual perpetually thrilled and enthralled.
According to her, a replication of such a facility in the
country can transform the lives of Nigerians and boost
tourism
"Nigerians who are stressed and depressed can visit a
place like that in the country and become happier and
healthier.
"The children's mental faculty can be easily sharpened
through the rides, toys and games," Okundaye said.
The artist observed that the Walt Disney in Florida which
was opened to the public several years ago had
transformed the community to one of the biggest
international vacation destinations in the wor
"Nigeria can tap into this and revive the tourism sector to
generate huge revenue for the country."
Also speaking, Segun Adefila, the Managing Director of
Crown Troupe of Africa, said it was long over due for
Nigeria to have such a facility.
He, however, said he and other investor might invest in it
to create an African Disney world in Nigeria and make the
nation a tourism hub.
He said Nigeria could create such a theme park against
the backdrop of the nation’s rich cultures.
"This kind of theme park should be all- encompassing in
the country like the way it is run in foreign countries.
"We should have a zoo, cinema houses, swimming pool,
hotels where people can relax and a host of others,"
Adefila said.
For Adeniyi Olokun, the Secretary of Hotel and Personnel
Services Employers' Association (HOPESEA), the
government should show interest in the creation of Disney
world through partnership with the private sector.
"The banks can also buy into this by encouraging
individuals, group of people who want to obtain loans to
set it up
"It is a lucrative business where huge revenue can be
generated," he said.
An art consultant, Ben-Johnson Egbele, also believed that
a Disney world should be established in the country.
"A Disneyland Park in Nigeria should be based on the
nation's culture and not Western culture or concept.
"Disney world in Florida, Paris and others are basically
depicting the Western culture.
"African arts, crafts, sculptures, bronze works, paintings
and more should be exhibited and foreign tourists who are
interested in learning our craft will take advantage of it."
Egbele added: "All aspects of our national life should be
represented there as well as the cultural practices of the
major ethnic groups in the country."

Johannesburg - The President of the Nigeria Union in
South Africa, Ikechukwu Anyene, said on Saturday that the
body had opened new ward offices in some provinces of
that country.
Addressing the 2015 National Congress of the Union in
Johannesburg, Anyene said the new ward offices had
assisted in coordinating the activities of Nigerians in the
nine provinces of South Africa.
"We have laid the foundation for the Nigeria Union to
continue to move forward.
"We have created, through the provincial chapters, many
ward offices. The Nigeria Union has gone deeper into the
provinces of South Africa.
"Recently, the Union visited the newest offices in
Springbok and Orpington wards because of the crisis in
those areas," he said.
According to Anyene, the Union is moving forward in its
developmental initiatives and members are keying into
them.
The president, however, urged chairmen of provinces to
disseminate the information and decisions taken by the
national executive to ward chairmen.
"This will make them (ward chairmen) to be properly
informed on issues and decisions taken and also give
them a sense of belonging.
"The ward chairmen are expected to pass on the same
information to Nigerians living in their areas," he said.
Anyene said the Union was very pro-active during the
xenophobic attacks in reaching out to Nigerians in South
Africa with useful information and safety tips.
"During the xenophobic attacks, Nigeria Union provided
leadership.
"Our structure in Durban, Kwazulu Natal Province,
coordinated with the national executive to reach out to
Nigerians.
"I must say we did well to save Nigerians during the
attacks. The Union provided the leadership for citizens of
other African countries affected in the attacks," he said.
He further said that the Union had set up all the structures
needed for its administration in South Africa.
"You are part of these achievements and we thank the
provinces for being part of the Union in the service of our
people in South Africa," Anyene said.

Gombe - The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, on
Friday said the Federal Government was committed to
stamping out the activities of insurgents in the country.
Osinbajo said this in Gombe when he paid a condolence
visit to families that lost their loved one to the Gombe
central market twin blasts on Thursday.
"The incident is unfortunate; we are convinced we are
going to stamp out insurgency in the country," he said.
Osinbajo said he was directed by President Mohammadu
Buhari, to commiserate with the people of Gombe over the
incident.
"This morning when we paid the President Sallah homage,
he asked me to come to Gombe to commiserate with the
people, the Emir and governor of Gombe over the terrible
incident that happened.
"He said I should let them know that we are with them; we
heard about the death of men, women and children and we
feel your pains.
"People should be rejoicing in celebration of Sallah but
instead they are mourning; it is unfortunate," he said.
Osinbajo said it was the duty of the government to protect
the lives and properties of the citizenry.
"I salute the braveness of Gombe people. In spite of the
unfortunate incident they are still in the market
"This is because they know, it is only God that can protect
them, men can only do their best," he said.
Governor Dankwambo, in his speech thanked the Osinbajo
for the visit, adding that the people of Gombe State were
highly honoured with the gesture.
The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu, also thanked
the vice president for the visit.
He said the visit did not come to him as surprise
considering the love the Buhari and Osinbajo had for
Gombe people and the entire north east.
The vice president visited the Federal Teaching Hospital
Gombe, to see the victims of the blast.
He also visited the scene of the blast, some bereaved
families.
It would be recalled that a twin blasts at Gombe central
market on Thursday claimed over 50 lives and left many
people wounded.

Abuja - The Lagos State Government said it would enforce
the verdict of the Coroner’s inquest into the tragic collapse
of the Synagogue Church of All Nations building last year.
State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, said this was in line
with upholding the rule of law.
Ambode said that the state government would prosecute
the Synagogue Church of All Nations for neglecting to
obtain building approval before commencing the building.
This was contrary to the provisions of the Urban and
Regional Planning and Development Law 2010.
The government will ensure the prosecution of the
contractor, Engineer Akinbela Fatiregun of Hardrock
Engineering Company Limited and Structural Engineer,
Oladele Ogundeji, who constructed and supervised the
collapsed building respectively
Ambode added that the Coroner’s verdict earlier this
month made a number of recommendations which the
state government will act upon accordingly.
The Governor said one of the provisions of the Coroner
Law 2007 is the provision that empowered a Coroner to
commence an inquest to find out the cause and manner of
death which occur in an unusual manner.
“His Excellency hereby reiterates his Government’s
commitment to uphold and enforce the sanctity of the law
in the state and calls on all Lagos residents to respect the
rule of law,” Ambode said.
More than 100 worshipers died at the church owned by
prominent pastor, TB Joshua last September. |
Abuja - The new acting Army Chief of Staff, Maj-Gen, Tukur Burutai, will be heading to Yobe State to celebrate his appointment with troops fighting Boko Haram, Punch reported. Burutai met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he was told of what is expected of him in the appointment. The Army chief expressed that it is only fair he celebrates Sallah with the troops. His appointment was approved earlier in the week by Buhari, together with the National Security advisor for the country. Burutai was the Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force before his appointment. For more on this story visit Punch |

Lagos - Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has
directed relevant officials of the Government to work with
the chairmen of Local Government Councils to facilitate
the payment of salaries of council workers in the state.
The government is set to commence the payment of
salaries of workers in the Local Government Service,
starting with the June arrears.
Daniel Iworiso-Markson, chief press secretary, said
Dickson maintained even though the payment of salaries
at that level of government was purely the responsibility of
the local government councils, the state government has
decided to intervene to ease the plight of the council
workers. Iworiso-Markson said steps were already being taken to ensure the payment of the outstanding arrears of the salaries, within the shortest possible time. He enjoined all local government staff to exercise restraint, as every necessary step would be taken to ensure that all arrears of their salaries are paid. Iworiso-Markson said the state government also expressed satisfaction with their sense of maturity and understanding, despite the difficult times, they have been going through. Bayelsa is among a number of states that are set to benefit from a bailout package President Muhammadu Buhari has approved for financially-struggling states. Financial problems have led to a failure to pay government workers in recent months. |

Magama told them that N504,600 was released by the

According to him, the governor’s gesture would help in
decongesting the prisons in the state.
"A committee was set up by the governor to go round the

Abuja - Former President Gooodluck Jonathan has kicked against President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan to probe how $2.1billion was illegally withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA), reports NewsDay. Jonathan, who just returned to the country after a short vacation in the U.S and the UK, is particularly not happy with the way the Buhari administration has been castigating him and his erstwhile cabinet members. Jonathan is angry because he believes the Buhari administration is blackmailing him and his ministers, contrary to the terms of the 2015 poll peace agreement which led to a smooth transition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC). The former President is planning a protest to the Gen. Abubakar Abdulsalami National Peace Committee for 2015 General Elections. Issues Jonathan plans to table before the Abdulsalami Committee include the controversial $2.1billion withdrawn from the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without recourse to the National Economic Council(NEC), the corruption tar being put on his administration and the $4billion taxes and dividends paid by the Nigerian Liquified Natural gas Ltd between 2009 and 2014. |

Lagos - Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has appealed to for
adequate funding, partnership and collaboration of the
global community to combat terrorism, extremism and
insurgency.
He asked the international community to develop a viable
mechanism to deal with the scourge of terrorism as it
addresses all aspects of human security for sustainable
development.
Osinbajo, in a presentation made available to CAJ News,
said the phenomenon of global terrorism constituted a
potent threat to peace, stability and economic development
of countries worldwide.
“We must take parallel action to intensify efforts towards
blocking all sources of funding for terrorist activities,” he
said at the ongoing International Conference on Financing
for Development held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Haram terror sect intensifying its reign of terror in Nigeria.
While the attacks have been commonplace in Borno State,
Kaduna and Plateau States have recently suffered such
attacks.
More than 13 000 people have been killed and an
estimated 2 million displaced as a result of such attacks.
Meanwhile, Osinabajo called for support to Africa in
repatriating illicit funds finding their way into the continent.
“This conference (in Ethiopia) must come up with a
mechanism for dismantling safe havens and the return of
stolen funds and assets to the countries of origin as
mandated in the United Nations Conventions Against
Corruption and Transnational Organised Crime.”

Moved to a new town, or even a new country? Or just a bit
short on friends right at the moment? Here’s how to add
new faces to your circle of friends.
We all need friends. Not heaps. For some people one or
two or three are enough. Other people want their social
lives to be like rush-hour traffic.
This is not the place to carry on about why friends are so
special – thousands of internet postings have done that
already. (You know the somewhat nauseating ones
arriving in your inbox with subject lines such as “What
makes a good friend?” My only answer to that would be
that a good friend who knew me really well would not send
that stuff to me. But then it’s Monday morning and I am
feeling grumpy.)
Friends come in all shapes and sizes, as well as all ages
and genders. You will know who your friends really are
when your life goes pear-shaped and you need some
support. A sobering thought is that you might get as much
support from them as you routinely give to others, so if
you’re not doing that, it might be time to make an effort.
Friends are just great to spend time with, for going with
you old haunts or new spots, or just sitting around at home
with you spending quality time in front of the TV together
eating chips and chocolates and whatever else you can lay
your hands on.
But in order to make new friends, you need to get out
there, though – no one is going to come and knock on
your door looking for friendship. So no more mooching in
front of the TV over weekends in your pyjamas, unless you
enjoy being a one-man band.
But there are a few tricks to making new friends, and it
isn’t always quite as easy as it looks on TV or in the
movies. Here are a few ideas:
Where to meet new friends
For the brave, there are internet dating/friendship sites, or
other social platforms. You might be lucky – and then
again you might not. At least in this way you can establish
certain joint interests before you meet, but the problem is
all you have to go on is what the other person chooses to
say about themselves. It may be true, and then again she
might not be telling you about the two restraining orders
previous friends have taken out against her.
Even when just meeting a potential new friend, never invite
them to your home the first time. Meet in a public place
that is familiar to you, and possibly consider taking
someone with you. Always let someone else know where
you are going. I might sound paranoid, but rather be safe
than sorry. Someone you’ve met on the internet is actually
still a complete stranger to you.
If you have a favourite coffee shop or other regular haunt,
and there is someone who hangs out there when you do,
sooner or later you will get it together to make a few
comments or strike up a conversation. Many people have
met new friends in supermarkets, at the gym, at work, on
their regular taxi/train/bus commute.
One of the best ways to meet new friends is via your
existing friends. Friends of friends are at least not a
completely unknown entity, as you would know something
about them before making them part of your world.
Accept all social invitations from your friends, and make
an effort with new people you think might become future
friends.
If you’re new to town and know nobody, join the poetry
club, or the tennis club, or the hiking club, or the
winetasting club – or whatever. You are likely to meet
like-minded people on these activities and maybe they can
become friends. At least you know you already have
something in common.
How to make contact
If you’re in the same place as someone else regularly, give
it some time and then start by acknowledging the other
person with a nod or a smile, and then take it from there.
Too much too soon can just look creepy or desperate.
Keep things casual and start off making short
conversations and possibly having a quick cup of coffee
together.
Never invite someone you don’t really know on a one-to-
one activity initially. If you’re stuck for a day outing with
someone who turns out not to be your type, it could be a
problem. Say you’re going wine-tasting with a group of
friends if she’d like to join you. That’s a low pressure
invite, as you’re going anyway. Movies in a group are
always good, as are braais or get-togethers at someone’s
house. Trying out a new pub or club with a group of
friends can also work.
Then you will also have an opportunity to check out your
potential new friend in a social setting, and see whether
her way of doing things speaks to you.
Danger signals
If someone latches onto you, and starts phoning
constantly, you could have a problem on your hands. You
could just ignore the calls, or you could make an
appointment for next month, and say you’ll speak to her
then.
Unless someone is new to town, it is danger signal if they
have no friends they have known for a while. Another
danger signal is if someone who has known you for all of
a few days tells you absolutely everything about their
personal life. This means the person has no boundaries
and this could spell trouble in the future.
What also isn’t a good sign is if someone starts
badmouthing some of her other friends or some of your
mutual acquaintances. Chances are next time she will be
talking about you.
Also, see if you are comfortable about the way the person
dresses, their drinking and smoking habits, and how they
behave around your other friends or your partner. Also
find out if their personal views and way of doing things are
compatible with yours. You don’t feel like discovering six
months down the line that you have a rabid racist on your
hands, or someone who is rude to waiters in restaurants. |
From my little research on events especially wedding , though its not that easy to get everything in place but still an individual can save through the following ways 1 No matter how organised you are, find a friend or outsider to assist you during the process. This will be particularly handy as you approach your wedding day as you will need to hand over control and responsibility. It’s best if that person has a clear overview of your vision. 2 Budget, budget, budget. It’s important to be honest with yourself, your partner, your teams and your wedding coordinator when it comes to your budget. Set it and stick to it to avoid overspending. 3 Make a list of the décor ideas that you would like to try. Test these out as soon as possible. Keep notes of how long they took to complete and the costs involved. This will help you eliminate the less practical ideas and give you some valuable tips you can pass on to the décor team. 4 Where it’s impossible to avoid using a traditional supplier, don’t be afraid to ask for a discount. 5 Keep a running list of all the contact names and numbers for the big day. Make sure you give a copy of this to your coordinator or maid of honour so that someone other than you has the information necessary to solve problems in the days leading up to the wedding. At that stage you’ll be too busy to worry about the little details. 6 When selecting a venue, be honest about your plans. Ensure they’re comfortable with your DIY ideas and that they allow things such as music and self-catering. Also, ensure they are happy for you to set up a day in advance and clean up the day after, and if there is an extra fee for this. 7 Don’t be afraid to be flexible. ‘If you can’t find a team of white horses and a glass carriage, it’s ok to make use of that Rolls Royce you’ve been offered,’ says Jo. 8 Get creative! Send e-invitations to guests, name your tables after your favourite childhood shows, wear a purple wedding dress, have a different theme for each table, and so on. This is your day and you have the power to make it uniquely yours. If it fits in with your vision of your dream wedding, make it happen! 9 ‘Consider hiring a photographer only to take official portraits, but then ask all the guests to take as many pictures as possible of the rest of the day and share them with you,’ says Jo. 10 Prioritise and invest in the important things. Take a look at all the elements involved in realising your dream day. Now examine your available resources and budget and prioritise. You can’t get married without a marriage official, rings, a venue and food, but perhaps you don’t need a budget-breaking wedding car or a make-up artist. |
According to insiders, President Muhammadu Buhari’s sack of the service chiefs and his forthcoming trip to the United States of America for extensive bilateral, economic and financial discussions with President Barrack Obama seems to be connected. According to Vanguard, Buhari is scheduled to answer certain questions about the terrorism challenges as well as Nigeria’s military capability to tackle the menace conclusively with his US counterpart and this necessitated the sack of the service chiefs. Obama and Buhari Sources told reporters that Buhari knew that Obama would demand to know the why after so much money was devoted to the war on insurgency, including foreign contributions, the Boko Haram terrorists were still holding sway. “America will ask President Buhari why the Military Commanders (Sacked Service Chiefs) were still in place, when after several months of being in control and getting huge financial support from the Jonathan administration, Boko Haram is still biting hard. “They will present Buhari with the figures and ask how this huge amount of money was spent, and for what purposes? Why is the result not showing? “This is because America will tell President Buhari pointblank, that we have a package to assist you conquer this menace but it will be on the grounds that you have a new team with thinking faculty, a team that is tested and will spare no effort in ending the Boko Haram mayhem.” The source suggests that Buhari will now look Obama in the face and say, “I have a new team in place. Trusted, with integrity, and primed to actualize my mission of ending Boko haram insurgency”. He said: “Buhari will tell the Americans that he has set machinery in motion to investigate how the huge amount of money so far released to fight insurgency was spent and why after such releases to the security agencies, many of the equipment promised, to deal with Boko Haram, are nowhere to be seen. “President Buhari will also show the Americans a blueprint of how he intends to employ new resources improve and equip the armed forces, putting in mind accountability, to ensure that any suspected corrupt tendencies are nipped in the bud,” the source added.
