TV/Movies / POLL: Best "Adult" Animated TV Series Of All Time by Oluwayeezy: 8:13pm On Apr 03, 2017 |
I happen to be a big fan of animation series, ever since cartoon Network has turned into pretty much of a joke, I gave up on cartoon.. I mean they were days when shows like Johnny bravo, Powerpuff girls, Dexter laboratory, kids next door, Megax XLR had something for everyone including adults( not forgetting Tom and Jerry, that one seems to be a big hit with the adults) to cut long story short Sha, I stumbled upon the Boondocks and I swore it was the funniest "adults" animation series ever, the humor, storyline, pop culture references were quite hilarious and it seemed to me like no other show for me could beat it.. And then I devoted my time to Family guy and was proven wrong and later SOUTHPARK proved to be equally as good as the others.. so I'm asking which is really the best adult animated series of all time THE BOONDOCKS:The Boondocks is an American adult animated sitcom on Adult Swim . Created by Aaron McGruder, based upon his comic strip of the same name.the series premiered on November 6, 2005. The show begins with a black family, the Freemans, settling into the fictional, peaceful, and mostly white suburb of Woodcrest. The perspective offered by this mixture of cultures, lifestyles, social classes, stereotypes, viewpoints and racial(ized) identities provides for much of the series' satire, comedy, and conflict. FAMILY GUY:Family Guy is an American adult animated sitcom created by Seth MacFarlane for the Fox Broadcasting Company . The series centers on the Griffins, a family consisting of parents Peter and Lois ; their children Meg , Chris, and Stewie; and their anthropomorphic pet dog Brian. The show is set in the fictional city of Quahog, Rhode Island , and exhibits much of its humor in the form of cutaway gags that often lampoon American culture . SOUTHPARK:South Park is an American adult animated sitcom created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone and developed by Brian Graden for the television network , Comedy Central . The show revolves around four boys—Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick —and their bizarre adventures in and around the titular Colorado town. PS: feel free to add yours

Crime / The Real Truth Behind MMM by Oluwayeezy: 5:21pm On Nov 17, 2016 |
МММ was a Russian company that perpetrated one of the world's largest Ponzi schemes(fraudulent scheme where earlier investors are paid with the money taken from new investors, giving the impression that the scheme is viable investments) of all time, in the 1990s.By different estimates from 5 to 40 million people lost up to $10 billion. The exact figures are not known even to the founders. MMM was established in 1989 by Sergei Mavrodihis brother Vyacheslav Mavrodi, and Olga Melnikova. The name of the company was taken from the first letters of the three founders' surnames.Initially, the company imported computers and office equipment. In January 1992, tax police accused MMM of tax evasion, leading to the collapse of MMM bank, and causing the company to have difficulty obtaining financing to support its operations. Faced with difficulties in funding its foreign trade, the company switched to the financial sector. It offeredAmericanstocks to Russian investors, but met with little success. Later, MMM-Invest was created for the purpose of collecting vouchers during privatisation. This effort was similarly unsuccessful.MMM created its successful Ponzi scheme in 1994. The company started attracting money from private investors, promising annual returns of up to one thousand percent. It is unclear whether a Ponzi scheme was Mavrodi's initial intention, inasmuch as such extravagant returns might have been possible during the Russian hyperinflation such commerce as import-export. MMM grew rapidly. In February 1994, the company reported dividends of 1,000%, and started an aggressive TV ad campaign. Since the shares were not quoted on any stock exchange and the company itself determined the share price, it maintained a steady price growth of thousands of percent annually, leading the public to believe its shares were a safe and profitable investment. An important factor in the scheme's success was word of mouth, but most of the company's success came from its extremely aggressive ad campaign, which appealed to the general public by using "ordinary" characters that viewers could identify with. The most famous of them, a "folk hero" of early 1994, wasLyonya Golubkov. Another notable marketing effort was a giveaway of free metro trips to all Moscow citizens on a particular day. MMM also was one of the first well-known companies in Russia with a logotype and slogans ("Flying from shadow to the light" and others) On July 22, 1994, the police closed the offices of MMM for tax evasion. For a few days the company attempted to continue the scheme, but soon ceased operations. At that point, Invest-Consulting, one of the company's subsidiaries, owed more than 50 billion rubles in taxes (USD 26 million), and MMM itself owed between 100 billion and 3 trillion rubles to the investors (from USD 50 million to USD 1.5 billion). In the aftermath at least 50 investors, having lost all of their money, committed suicide. in 2015 MMM began operating in South Africa with the same business model as MMM-2011, claiming a "30% per month" return through a"social financial network".The group was identified as a possible pyramid scheme by the National Consumer Commission and accounts ofclients were later frozen by Capitec Bank.In response to mounting criticism and official investigations by state authorities in 2016 supporters of the South African MMM scheme staged a protest march in Johannesburg. In 2016, MMM launched a website targeting the Nigerian audience. In January 2016 the Chinese government banned MMM on the grounds that it is a pyramid scheme,(Ponzi scheme), and it is not registered in the country (and as a fraudulent scheme cannot be registered).

I state categorically that I am not one of the Defence Counsel.“I had a different matter at the same court where he was arraigned and we met at the Court by chance. Everybody recognized my presence and in my usual fashion, I greeted everyone.”Okonkwo insisted that the destiny of the Igbo people was in Nigeria and that differences can be resolved through dialogue He said:“I believe in the unity of Nigeria andbelieve that the destiny of Ndigbo will be better served within a Nigeria based on equity and justice. God bless Ndigbo and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.“I believe in the peaceful resolution of the Biafran crisis through dialogue. Celebrities / "All President Buhari Needs Is A Lot Of Time" -davido by Oluwayeezy: 4:43pm On Oct 18, 2016 |
President Buhari has found an ardent supporter in
popular musician Davido
– The self-styled Omo Baba Olowo recently asked
Nigerians to have patience with the current government
– He said with time, things would get better under our
president’s regime
Despite the many problems Nigeria is currently facing,
popular musician Davido still has faith in Nigeria and he
has urged other Nigerians to do the same.
He made his thoughts on president Buhari’s government
known in a recent interview with ThisDay Style magazine.
“I believe the country is going through a lot of reforms at
the moment. I certainly don’t believe that two years is
enough time to fix Nigeria considering all we have being
through. All President Buhari needs is a lot of time,
dedication and most importantly, support from the people
and God willing he will succeed in making Nigeria great
again,” he said.

Celebrities / “beyoncé’s Feminism Isn’t My Feminism”-chimamanda Adichie by Oluwayeezy: 4:35pm On Oct 09, 2016 |
In a new interview with Dutch publication de Volkskrant,
Award-winning Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi
Adichie has commented for the first time on Beyoncé’s
feminism. Beyoncé used fragments of Chimamanda’s TED
Talk “We should all be feminists ” in her song “***Flawless “.
However, Chimamanda says ‘her type of feminism is not
mine, as it is the kind that gives quite a lot of space to the
necessity of men’.
de Volkskrant says in the months following the release of
the song the big question was: what did Adichie, whose
novel Americanah markedly climbed on the bestseller lists,
actually think of this collaboration? This remained unclear,
as in later interviews with the writer Beyoncé was hardly
mentioned, and if she was, it only solicited a benign smile
or ‘no comment’.
Now she has spoken…
Read Excerpts below.
On Beyonce being Lovely
‘In the first place: of course Beyoncé asked permission to
use my texts, and I did give her permission. I think she’s
lovely and I am convinced that she has nothing but the
best intentions. In addition, Beyoncé is a celebrity of the
first order and with this song she has reached many
people who would otherwise probably never have heard
the word feminism, let alone gone out and buy my essay.’
On media attention after the song’s release
‘But I was shocked about how many requests for an
interview I received when that song was released. Literally
every major newspaper in the world wanted to speak with
me about Beyoncé. I felt such a resentment (laughs
loudly). I thought: are books really that unimportant to
you? Another thing I hated was that I read everywhere:
now people finally know her, thanks to Beyoncé, or: she
must be very grateful. I found that disappointing. I thought:
I am a writer and I have been for some time and I refuse
to perform in this charade that is now apparently expected
of me: “Thanks to Beyoncé, my life will never be the same
again.” That’s why it didn’t speak about it much.’
On Beyonce’s style of feminism & her view on Feminism
We women should spend about 20 per cent of our time on
men but otherwise we should also be talking about our
own stuff
Beyoncé was applauded for her ‘coming out’ as a
feminist, but she also received a lot of criticism, such as
that she was only embracing feminism for commercial
reasons and that her sexy outfits and shallow lyrics were
incompatible with feminist ideas. Adichie has this to say:
‘Her style is not my style, but I do find it interesting that
she takes a stand in political and social issues, since a
few years. She portrays a woman who is in charge of her
own destiny, who does her own thing, and she has girl
power. I am very taken with that.’
‘Still, her type of feminism is not mine, as it is the kind
that, at the same time, gives quite a lot of space to the
necessity of men. I think men are lovely, but I don’t think
that women should relate everything they do to men: did
he hurt me, do I forgive him, did he put a ring on my
finger? We women are so conditioned to relate everything
to men. Put a group of women together and the
conversation will eventually be about men. Put a group of
men together and they will not talk about women at all,
they will just talk about their own stuff. We women should
spend about 20 per cent of our time on men, because it’s
fun, but otherwise we should also be talking about our
own stuff.’
