13m should be enough, especially if your wife is working, you need to also show that she can support herself and your child without help from you, and also GIC is no guarantee. But it will help your application to show that the money is actually available. Add your wife's payslips and also statement of account. The VO might want to knkw how your family intend to support themselves without you. So if your wife has a business or works, that will go a long way Enjay316: Good day all.we don enter 2nd of July ooo.but @Lianna still dey 1st of July.at least Nigeria dey enternew year b4 Canada. lol.any that aside .please Gurus, we realize that GIC can only be bought by the applicant and a sponsor cant purchase GIC for the person he is Sponsoring so my Brother hu is a PR has decided to pay for my 1 year full tuition. my question is simple, sending his account statement will not affect my application positively as he Just bought a house in Canada and is paying monthly mortgage. meaning ,he does not have sufficient proof of fund as a sponsor. He however intends sending his last 6 months pay stub, letter of employment and his wife letter of employment in addition to the initiative he had taken to pay my 1 year tuition fee.however I have #13m in my account as co sponsore.is this sufficient, especially since I intend purchasing GIC out of d 13m to show I am also responsible. note, I am 31yrs,study gap 10 yrs and married with a kid.thanks 4 ur anticipated replies |

Sweet landing gist my sister. I cannot wait to see you soon. Vancouver go sweet us. I dey come oooo. Lianna2020: Soft landing gist I booked Ethiopian airline for 1:40pm. I said my final goodbyes and moved to the airport. I got there by 9:30 thinking I’m late because of the story I read here as per queue but there wasn’t any. They didn’t allow my husband to enter and I had to tip them 500. We proceeded to where they were suppose to check my bag but the woman asked for money n we moved to declare agricultural product, I had just one bag and I paid 2,000.
Next was to get my boarding pass. My bag was 43kg and so didn’t need to pay but paid 1000 to wrap my Ghana must go that had my foodstuffs.
I was asked for my passport , enrollment letter , arrive can , hotel for quarantine and COVID-19test result.(everything was printed out so was easy to find).
Everything was so smooth until the man said my covid 19 go soon expire by the time I reach . Na that time I wan cry , pe village people u must show yourself o. I waited for 30 minutes plus, the sneakers self pain me join , I come Dey frown face, the old man slow join, come Dey read bible abi wetin to show my covid go expire. I sha pretended and maintained my calm.
After series of back and forth, I was allowed to move to where we have the computer so I can scan my pp.
Then I was issued my yellow card where I have to fill my form and my boarding pass . That’s how one man said let me help you fill your form , olodo me allowed him, when he wrote my first name then nairaland tip hit pe, this man wants money like this o. I told him, don’t worry o, I go fill am, I filled it myself and when I was about to return his biro, he said find joy for your brother now, chai I said to myself , upon say I don read landing gist here back to back , I still looseguard. I sha gave him 500 naira.
I moved to eat and told my hubby to take all naira as e don finish , pe no more tipping then moved to final e boarding gate where we have the immigration officers. First officer checked and asked for tip.by that time no more naira as I wouldn’t have thought , uniform people go want tip .I gave him 1 dollar and he said just one ? I said sorry o. I was now directed to the second person where he checked and asked my my Canadian address and Nigerian address, I gave my Airbnb addrsss and number and did my fingerprint and he asked for tip too before stamping my pp. I gave him 1 dollar n apologized that I didn’t think I’d need to pay in here hmmm. Then final final checks again, by that time I don tire , they checked my handbag and saw dried meat wey I wan Dey munch small small, the woman said I don see exhibit , settle your girl, for my mind, u no see shishi but I go sha giv u because na Poe Dey my mind like this.
Luckily I saw 1,000, I gave her and was seated for my flight . We boarded 13:00and moved around 2:00 against 1:40.
I thought WiFi was free but na only WhatsApp he work for so had to buy WiFi so I can watch my Korean film but WiFi was limited too so ended up watching nothing but was thankful I could chat, maybe it was the WiFi package I took. Their food was terrible sha but I had to eat , dried beef came to my rescue.
We landed Addis Ababa 20:49pm , thank God I had someone directing me as I no sabi where to where . After all checks ,I was asked for my pp, covid 19 test result, and booked hotel and I was allowed in .
We left for Dublin from Addis around 11:pm and it was a smooth ride, when I read in-house music, I had thought it will be a cool jam coming from one of those vent up there but no it was one boring set of songs you have to listen to(sad).
I had three seats to myself as no one was there so I was able to stretched n lie down well. By all means download movies and music, iPhone do me strong thing o, not even Netflix . I was now waiting for WiFi atleast let me chat now , that’s how the hostess said no WiFi (cries). Boredom pro max . Had to manage the dry songs n watch few interesting movies.
Then I was given declaration form , I kuku didn’t understand most of what they wanted but I sha filled something . The most confusing thing for me was the time difference, my time kept changing as weather chai.
We were served rice with chicken , Na so I no fit chop am because hmmm, I like eba and afang and so everything was strange. I told them to give me the dry bread n butter n water.
We got to Dublin around 6:35 am and some passengers dropped and we waited for 45 mins still seated for refilling n all that. We got to Toronto around 8:am(again time difference).
I filled my covid form on the system provided n was given a slip, proceeded to immigration, I was asked for passport , loa and school fees receipt, then he gave my study permit to me and went further by telling me about the 20hrs allowed for work .
I was there waiting for more question but none , I also waited for welcome to Canada , rather he said enjoy your stay and that was it.
Moved to take my connecting flight to Vancouver, that’s how they told me I must quarantine in Toronto, told them my mandatory hotel stay was booked in Vancouver and my flight would soon move , them no hear , had to cancel my booking and rebook in Toronto .
Please no matter where you going in Canada , as far as you stopping at Toronto, reserve your hotel in Toronto, that’s the only way they will allow you move further.
Did my covid test and was given a test kit to retest a week after and then we were taken to our hotel . Currently quarantining at Toronto before moving to my final destination.
For all PPR hopeful , I wish everyone nothing but good news. Amen. |

Chipo14: That's for MBS. I am referring to the normal bank statement. No bank tells anyone people's balances except for regulatory and fraud purposes. Trust me I know. The banks has the obligation to say whether the statement is genuine or not. Reason why mybankstatement was introduced was to allow applicants grant then access to verify the account rather than the usual statement where current balance cannot be know. This is not to encourage fake statement as the bank will definitely respond the statement is fake if it is.
Even with the physical bank statement, once you have signed those dotted lines, trust me, they will contact the bank and forward them that statement to confirm. IRCC will always confirm that bank statement. Ask your account officer, the embassy always confirms |

Chipo14: They can only confirm genuineness of the statement they cannot ask and be told the balance of the account. It's against bankers oat of secrecy. You're very wrong, with the password, they can access the bank statement and see all transactions including the sitting balance as at when it was submitted. DO NOT SUBMIT FAKE BANK STATEMENTS OH! |

buckyfof: I just got refused guys, and I’m proud to put it out here so others can learn I submitted through an agent but it was later I found out about nairaland and I knew I was suppose to do it on my own. I was rejected based on just purpose of visit as i knew my chances were low when I came to nairaland to find out that going for a 2nd degree and getting a decision has a very slim chance. I’m I happy I learnt that too. I submitted the account of my uncle as we bear the same surname and it had an inflow and outflow of almost 300m in 4 months alone and a sitting balance of 20m. Most of you are also aware that I just lost my dad and my uncle has been stepping up for me for a lot of things My uncle also owns the company where I work part time and I also submitted the cac, employment letters and bank statement of the company of almost 250m in inflows and outflow. I can tell that the course was the major problem, as I wrote my SOP myself with the agent making one or two corrections
Please guys, I had a 2:1 in accounting with a CGPA of 3.63 in 2018. Which university can the gurus recommend to go for masters. And which course will best fit my bsc. I will try and re apply again but I need the assistance of Lekkiboboe Frank Robbn Just mellow and all the amiable members
Do I need IELTS for masters or gre. Or just my bsc and English proficiency letter is enough??
How do I get the complete gcms note to check all the information filled by my agent and how do I order for it. Thank you guys You guys are wonderful and to those waiting for PPR. May Almighty God grant it to you Oh My! So sorry. You can apply for an MBA in University Canada West, then pay one year tuition, also have your uncle transfer your living expenses into your personal bank account. Also before you reapply, order for your GCMS NOTES. It will give you more insight on what you need to do. Congratulations in Advance on your next application |

This is amazing. Congratulations. MyRace: VERY VERY LONG POST ALERT! However, I thought to write this long so that different people can pick a thing or two...... Do read along....................
Hello everyone, thank you for your kind words and congrats to all who have gotten their PPR thus far. As promised, I'll try to share my story with you guys, even though it's incomplete as of yet.
Family of 5 Study permit for me and 3 children, visitor's visa for hubby Submitted June 10, 2020. Biometrics request June 11 Biometrics done August 24 (a day after VFS reopened) GCMS requested August 28 Refusal September 24 GCMS came back Sept 28
Now, from the GCMS notes, I noticed the following: 1. The decision to refuse was taken as at July 11! Guys try to order your GCMS as early as 6 weeks into your application. 2. There was an error in reaching one of the reasons for my refusal. I had done an MBA in Nigeria, going for a Masters of Finance, but the VO interpreted it that I had done an MFin previously and so there's no career progression.
Immediately i received the GCMS, I torn between reapplying and seeking a Judicial Review (JR). The reason I considered the JR in the first place was because I felt the refusal simply unfair and baseless. Yes, a visa is not my right, however, as long as an individual meets the guidelines set in place, it is only fair that they receive a positive outcome.
Another reason I considered it is because, it's an opportunity people rarely use and this has given VOs the leeway to keep refusing people on a whim. If more people contest their refusal and win, it will likely lead to an overhaul of the current system going on in Nairobi.
October 2, I contacted an Immigration Consultant on Instagram about the possibility of reapplying. After reviewing all my documents, he insisted I go for JR, but hubby was not convinced. 1 because he didn't want to "fight" the Canadian immigration system and 2, he wasn't sure if the outcome would be successful especially considering the cost difference between paying a lawyer and reapplying. Well, Consultant introduces us to an Immigration Lawyer. He reviews my documents again and said that I had a "Perfect" application, and so there's no reason for a refusal. Then he went ahead and offered to go ahead without a DIME being paid! If he loses, he goes away empty handed, but if he succeeds, then we pay a certain amount above the initial base amount. Hubby was more confortable with this arrangement.
October 29th after many back and forth, we submitted our application for JR. We were meant to get a response exactly 30 days which was to lapse on November 29th.
November 29th, Lawyer receives an email from the IRCC lawyers asking for additional 3 days to file their response.
And then silence, no further communication or even the expected response.
December 19th, I received an email saying there was a notification on my GCKey.
I logged on, and saw that the portion that usually shows "refused" had changed to "submitted". Every other member of my family's own still remained "refused". We called lawyer, he said he hasn't heard from them. Now, "success" with regards to our agreement with the Lawyer is when IRCC asks for "settlement". So at this point, it seemed like my application had been reopened without any agreement between my Lawyer and that of IRCC.
The wait was unimaginable!
January 12 I ordered GCMS and it came back February 12, and in it, it was stated that my application has been reopened because of a JR and my Lawyer has accepted the terms of the settlement!
Immediately, we sent the GCMS to him, still he maintained he hadn't heard anything from them. February finished, nothing!
March 3rd, Lawyer receives a letter requesting for a settlement on the case and the terms of the settlement. This was the exact same letter in my GCMS notes posted to my portal AS AT DECEMBER 2020! Anyway, we felt at least things are moving small small.
March 11, I received a request for additional documents. Really, what was important were new LOA and Financial statements.
March 24 uploaded the requested documents.
April 10 did up-front medical
April 29 Up-front medical passed
May 3, review for uploaded documents started.
June 16, Correspondence letter and PPR, 2 minutes apart.
Hubby and the children's applications were not reopened, we're currently in a dilemma as to whether to reapply for them or right a letter to IRCC. Your kind suggestions would be highly appreciated.
A few things to note from my personal experience:
1. The VOs are not as smart or as efficient as we tend to give them credit for.
2. Most times, approvals and refusals are given based more on feelings than clear evidence before them.
3. While I understand that JR is an expensive route, it would be nice if more people do it as it will highlight a lot of the rubbish they do at the embassy.
4. Lastly, let's be considerate to other people about how we boast after getting PPR. Trust me, the things you boast about: perfect SOP, Prayers, Documents etc, there are people who did all that and more and still got refused.
In the course of this journey, I also started to pursue a student visa in tbe UK before things started looking up, and believe me, the system with the British is far more transparent than that of Canada. Once you meet the requirements at submission, you are over 80% sure you'll be awarded the visa. But there's a lot of bias and subjectivity with the Canadian embassy.
I want to thank every single contributor to this Agile forum for the work you do! I submitted a "Perfect Application" ( according to my Lawyer) thanks to the stuff I got from here.
Also, I want to thank @frankrobben for his patience and selflessness here. People drag him all the time, but he never relents in being helpful. I remember the day I wrote about the JR option and his contribution and how he was dragged and insulted. Yet, he and I have never had any direct encounter and the Consultant and Lawyer did not come from him. Well done! I pray everyone gets their prayers answered as well |

Ordee your Gcms notes. Having alot of money is not the problem. The vo needs to be convinced that the money is available and also she passed eligibility. naijaoyibo: After the first refusal in 2019, we did our best to package the whole thing.
In the LOE and Letter of Sponsorship, I broke down my statement of account (sponsor) and also attached receipts of my business. Turnover and balance on accounts were huge figures. Also in the LOE, we explained how the lump sump I sent to her would be used to effect payment of the remaining tuition and living cost. She also added her bank statement, letter of employment from a reputable company and ties to some social and NGOs in Nigeria.
I as the sponsor also listed and attached evidence of some of my Landed properties and assets; explained carefully how this payment will not in anyway affect me since I am single and have no kids.
Personal account of sponsor with balance in the eight figure range. Business account of sponsor with balance in the nine figure range.
Even with the gift of deed of a lump sum, the Canadian commission still deemed it fit to reject the application with the generic reason;
" I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay as stipulated in subsection 216(1) of the IRPR, based on your personal assets and financial status"
Experts in the house, what options/ways can a young lady of 24 years old use to prove home times to Nigeria? |

I rejoice with you my sister. Canada will favour you. I tap from this blessings. Super happy for you. Queenmama03: Omo my story long oo! But i'll just go straight to the point.
First time applicant, self sponsored although I finished with a first class in economics, I have a 10yr study gap so I wasn't sure how that played out. Going for Masters in Economics at UNB. I'm employed and also have a side business I registered last year. Previous travel to US and Turkey. I wrote GRE, applied and got admission myself but when it came to visa application my liver failed me. That was where Frank (God bless his soul) came to my rescue. Timeline:
Applied 22nd Apr Vfs biometric 26th Apr Eligibility & background check started 4th May (may have been earlier but after applying I didn't check the portal until this date) Upfront Medical done 4th May Medical E-Slip uploaded 6th May Biometrics Updated 6th May (I had to email them a reminder) Medical Passed 7th May Ghost update 4th June Sent renewed passport & unconditional acceptance letter via webform 8th June Agreement prayer with husband when I noticed April applicants getting their decisions 16th June Ghost update 16th June BVL & PPR 21st June
Regarding ghost updates, I may have had more but I only check my portal once or max twice a week on average so I can't really say. Also I didn't pay school fees o, not even deposit. The Ijebu in me didn't let me part with my money before visa approval also my school didn't make it compulsory.
Document submitted Transcripts SOP GRE IELTS MBS & regular account statement (First bank doesn't have MBS so I just submitted the regular statement and included introduction letter from the bank) WAEC Certificate Degree certificate Employment letter Introduction letter from employer Study leave approval letter Consent letter from my husband We both indicated that my mum will be taking care of my kids in my absence Husband's employment letter and work related documents ID's of my parents and siblings
Hmm the waiting wasn't funny o especially when I see the type of document people submit here, at some point I felt I may not have submitted enough. I just told myself "las las if dem deny my application i'll just focus on my business''. But alas! God did it. Also special thanks to @Lekiboboe his posts really guided me when I was searching for graduate programs.
To all those still waiting, I wish you the very best, God willing it will end the praise.
signing out.

So sorry for that, but there are things to note... How much tuition did you pay? Did you explain the lump sum with proof? Ruthbella: I was denied today based on insufficient fund and proposed course of study. And then a lump sum of 12,000 CAD in my personal account. My hubby is my sponsor and we have a fixed deposit account which we submitted. I want to reapply. Pls advise on how i can explain the concern of the VO. Thank you. |

Sorry bro, doesn't work that way. Are you praying for refusal? Because that's the only way you can get that GIC funds back. And no one can run such deals... sorry! EmeeNaka: I want to open a GIC Account and fund it with $10,000CAD. I need someone that can open the account and fund it for me for a fee. The fund will last for two weeks. |
