The period is sensitive to a lot of things. Stress, illness or grief can all affect the cycle in a number of ways. You cannot conclude anything now.

Relax. Start counting again. But make sure you are stressed from it.

If it remains irregular for 3 cycles, investigate it.

Thanks for your response Doc. The first time I noticed it was when he had carttarh that lasted more than a week,then I used antibiotics(amoxicillin) and it stopped. But this time he has neither cold nor carttarh I have another problem,I'm in my 8th month of pregnancy and it seems I have CTS. It's giving me much discomfort and pain despite all the exercises and massaging I've been doing on my wrists and fingers.
Also I had a baby last year and was given an episotomy. The tear was much and the stitches didn't heal completely,some broke and it made the outer part of my vagina wider. Will I be given another cut this time? Also it seems my doctor used something like twine to do the stitching from inside which is still remaining in my vagina till now. Sometimes my vagina is sore especially after having sex. Please don't mind my long complaint.

Since there is no infection now, just clean his mouth more frequently. Or see a dentist.

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a relatively common problem with pregnancies. Rest the hand more. Especially at this stage, use of NSAIDS like ibuprofen and Lofnac is not advised, to avoid a particular problem in the baby's heart. The symptoms will abate once you deliver.

You are less likely to have another episiotomy as this is not your first vaginal delivery. But ultimately, it is the baby's size and the compliance of the soft tissues of the birth canal that will determine that.

Well, you can wait some months more and watch. In the mean time relax, and use contraception if you do not plan to get pregnant now as you can concieve even before the first mesntruation.

Healthy eating involves consistently making them a part of the diet while minimising fat and sugar intakes, particularly refined sugars as obtains in many baked products or confectionaries, carbonated drinks and sweetened products.

Limitation of alcohol, weight reduction and cessation of smoking and recreational drugs are the other positive lifestyle changes good for the sperm, and the body in general.

Ovulation discharge is not whitish but clear/colourless, like the "colour" of water. It is slippery, like the egg-white.

Why not get an ovulation kit to have an objective assessment of it.

It is not abnormal for semen to trickle down the vagina after intercourse. This is not a problem. It happens to most if not all women. You have noticed it because of your increased consciousness about your reproductive health due to ttc. Relax, it does not mean anything bad.

How may days does your cycle normally last?

Ovulation pains can cause it.

But, should it persist beyond a few days from now, have it investigated.

What is the specific diagnosis? Hormonal Imbalance is a general term.

Generally, minimise stress, eat healthy, exercise and optimise your weight. Overweight is a common cause of hormonal imbalance associated with PCOS.

When you can, commence drug treatment as prescribed by your doctor.

Yes, it is possible. There are other causes of missed periods asides pregnancy. How old is she? When did she see her first ever period? Any other symptom?

However, if she is sexually active, let her do a pregnancy test. Until proven otherwise, pregnancy is assumed.

If negative let her see her doctor.

Take the child back to the hospital for investigations and treatment.

However, such cases as this raise suspicions of something wrong somewhere.

True genital infections are rare in sexually inactive children, though they can sometimes have vaginal candidiasis especially the fat ones, or those who often take antibiotics.

Is it possible that she, a fellow child or an adult is abusing her (self)?

Good day. Pls what is the possible cause of pain in the left lower abdomen. Pelvic scan says all is ok, hvs and urine mcs have also been done and antibiotics taken but still the pain remains. There is no discharge nor itching. The pain is slight but enough to make one notice that it is there. What other tests can one run and do you have a clue of what is responsible for this pain?
p.s - this pain has been there for like 6 months. The last test was done in May. Scan read all is ok but hvs and urine mcs said bacteria which was treated with antibiotics. ( penicillin and levofloxacin)Thanks.

Well, it is hard to say what could be wrong specifically.

Chronic PID already sounds like a cliche, even though it still remains a strong possibility in this case despite the antibiotics and the clean ultrasound report. Other strong possibilites include pelvic adhesions, and an entity called "chronic pelvic pain syndrome" which medically is not well understood, has no cure and thought to be psychological by some authorities.

Adhesions are very likely. Sadly, there is no way to diagnose them apart from laparoscopic or open surgery.

Treat the pain symtomatically, stop focusing on it or associating it with a ttc status (ie, trying to remove a possible psychological input to this pain), and discuss with your gynaecologist to ensure proper investigation.

Hi,

You have to calm down and stop being anxious.

Taking fertility drugs arbitrarily is not recommended, and could complicate things.

You can ask your doctor for a fertility work-up and take it from there.

Ciprotab is effective for PID. But usually, it is not taken alone. There are other organisms causing PID against which ciprofloxacin may not be effective.

You should report back to your doctor.

There are many possible causes, which may be related to the D and C or not. Any other symptoms associated with this pain?

The commonest possibility following a D and C is PID.

See your doctor, you will give more history, have an examination and some investigations.

the uterus is bulky,there is a well circumscribed heterogeneous predominantly hypo-echoic mass with a brocid based attached to the anterior myometrium,measuring 6.3x5.3cm in dimension. The remaining myometrium is preserved.
The right andexium harbours an ovoid cystic mass lesion measuring 4.0x3.8cm with low level echoes seen within it.The left adnexium is within normal limits.
Other pelvic organs are normal sonographically.
Conclusion Subserosal Fibroid
Right Ovarian Cyst
kindly explain the result and tell me what to do as I am TTC.

Hi,

Subserosal fibroid is a fibroid that grows just below the uppermost layers of the womb. They usually do not affect fertility.

You need to follow up the ovarian cysts by further scans (if this is the first scan showing it) and hormone assay.

Thanks for your blessing.

First, please disregard lab results claiming you have Staph.

Your sis needs to be investigated by a competent personel. It is most likely she is having candidiasis with some underlying predisposing factors such as low immunity or overweight or some drugs.

Importantly, consumption of broad-spectrum antibiotics such as ceftriaxone is a risk factor for candidiasis.

However, there are other probabilities.

Unfortunately, I do not prescribe non over-the-counter drugs here.

I want to start ttc again so i intend doing all the tests again. I have never had a surgery so the cause may be from chronic PID like you suggested. Please what test can i do to check for PID and on what day can i have it.

Ok.

Then your progesterone level is low for Day 21, suggesting a lack of ovulation for that cycle.

PID is mainly a clinical diagnosis. Lab tests are supportive. Cardinal symtoms of chronic PID are pelvic pain (waist and lower abdomen), vaginal discharge, menstrual irregularities and subfertility. And the doctor can, on examination, elicit many other signs.

Supportive laboratory tests include Endocervical swab, ECS (Not High Vaginal Swab, HVS!), pelvic scan and HSG (if subfertile)


Treatment is with at least a 2-week duration of effective antibiotics, as well as management of any complications

Hi,

It depends on the specific reasons for the tests.

However, for general fertility work-up, Day 3 is used for all except progesterone.

Progesterone is done at the midluteal phase of the cycle, to comfirm ovulation. This varies between women, but Day 21 is usually taken for the average cycle length of 28 days. So, progesterone is day 21.

However, if your cycle has been regular, your personal midluteal phase can be more precisely worked out.

There is slight irregularity between the cycles. This could be due to many reasons both "normal" and abnormal.

None of the cycle lengths fell outside of the normal range.

Alone, one cannot infer much from this information.

Hi,

Your hormone profile is within normal range. What cycle day was the Progesterone test?

The HSG showed evidence of perifimbrial adhesion. Picture this abnormality as a band of tissue that has gummed various structures around the fimbrial part of the tubes together.

Commonest causes of this are chronic PID or aftermath of surgery.

Treatment options include laparoscopy, hydrointubation, surgery and IVF.

Discuss your options with your gynaecologist.
