Nollywood actress, Didi Ekanem has repeated time and time again that she would rather be noticed or recognised for her talent rather than for her big bum which always seems to get in the way. But belying her secret wish is the smugness that lights up her face when she gets compliments over Mother Nature’s gift. “It’s a good feeling and a wonderful one,” she had beamed when asked how she feels having one of the biggest bums in Nollywood. “But I won’t lie to you, as much as I love it so much, I just wish people would focus more on my talent than my bum. All the concentration out there is on my bum not my talent. I would honestly wish people to see me as a talented actress not a sexy one. But my bum is not allowing people to see me deep down, to see the person and the talent,” she quickly added. On whether it is real or not, “People always say this whenever they see my bum. The last time I was on Linda Ikeji, I read comments people made and there were more questions about whether my bum was real or worked on. Some said it is made of plastic but you are here now and can see there is no artificial embellishment or augmentation. My bum is real, it’s like 101% real, I was born this way, I was born like this. I’ve had it since I was in JS1, in fact that was when I started noticing it. Then I never loved it, if I have to tell you the things that I’ve gone through because of my mum, you won’t believe me.”

Oil and gas is surely a curse to this country. Is this not the oil and gas that made Dubai and Qatar what they are today? Why must our own always be different. |
Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku will resume their domestic rivalry on the international stage on Sunday as holders Portugal and in-form Belgium face off in the biggest tie of Euro 2020’s last 16. Ronaldo is the Euro’s leading scorer after netting five times in the group stage while Lukaku, who is in the form of his life, is lurking behind the Portugal captain with three goals. Juventus forward Ronaldo is also just one goal away from breaking Ali Daei’s all-time international goalscoring record of 109, which he equalled with a brace against France in the European champions’ final Group F game. The pair lock horns at the Euro after doing battle in the Serie A scoring charts last season, with 36-year-old Ronaldo being crowned ‘capocannoniere’ after scoring 29 times in a difficult season for Juventus. However, Lukaku pipped Ronaldo to the league’s player of the season award last campaign despite scoring five fewer goals as he played a key role in Inter Milan winning their first league title in over a decade. His game seems to have moved up a level since he arrived at Inter in 2019 and Jan Vertonghen was full of praise for the 28-year-old’s progress on Saturday. “I’ve known him since he was 16 years old … the way he has developed from being a strong, quick kid into one of the best strikers in the world is one of the best things I’ve seen in my career,” defender Vertonghen told reporters. Both teams will have their work cut out to reach the July 11 final at Wembley with Italy, who squeezed past Austria on Saturday, and either world champions France or Spain the opponents in the next two rounds if they get beyond the last 16. However, Portugal coach Fernando Santos is “firmly convinced” his side will come out on top in the clash in Seville. “We know our opponent is capable and very competent but I’m firmly convinced we’re going to be better than they are,” he told a video media conference. Netherlands coach Frank de Boer, meanwhile, has his sights set on winning the whole thing as his flamboyant ‘Oranje’ take on the Czech Republic in at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. The Dutch strolled through Group C, winning all three games in Amsterdam and scoring eight goals in the process, and De Boer was not shy in saying his aim was to make and win the Wembley final. “Our goal is not only to reach the final but to win it, that’s the objective, then the tournament will be judged a success for us,” De Boer said ahead of Sunday’s clash in Budapest.

When the politicians and those in government have decided to milk the entire country's resources dry, that's what you get. Embezzlement of public funds and other forms of corruption have it's domino effect on the well being of the average citizen. They have been stashing millions and billions of our money in foreign banks over the years. Tell me the tangible result we have achieved after budgeting and borrowing large sums of money to tackle insecurity, provide electricity, improve agricultural output and provide healthcare services. Let me not even talk about the mismanagement of our major source of income which is crude oil. We have failed to refine a barrel of crude for years now. They have allocated oil blocs to themselves and they come toin the press chanting subsidy up and down. Then boom, it's election time. They come and dance in their overflowing agbada and share five thousand or even five hundred naira and we vote them for another term of doom. Tell me why hunger will not continue. |
