Why would shareholders have to state quantity the bought?
keeping records of such should be the job of registrars and stockbrokers.

Too much stress for shareholders

unnecessary stress when they already have all the information required to create a seamless process.

Nigerians love long process as well as passing people from one office to another and from one department to another.

i just taya, we have smart-thinking people who can offer the solutions to make things easier but the decision makers either wont employ those ones or won't listen to them.

Stockbrokers mainly is to give you a platform to trade stocks/equities or trade on your behalf. Dividend is between investor and the company you invested in with registrars as middle man to facilitate the record keeping and payment.

The collection of dividend is not part of the regular duties of stockbroking firms as stipulated by law.
However, individual clients can give authority to his/her stockbroker to do the chasing of dividends and that comes with a fee.

Then it seems people will continue to go through pain and hassle to get their dividends for a while as some Nigerian stockbrokers do not even offer the service of handling the dividend collection on behalf of their clients.

The process does not have to be this long which is why i said they could do all these through the broker who already has the necessary information.
Just empower them like it is done In some other countries to act as the intermediary in getting the dividend.

As an investor, i wouldn't mind ticking a box at the point of opening my stock brokering account that says the SB should take a fee for making sure dividends for every company is collected when due. That way i do not have to bother about who makes the payment and the processes/parties involved; be it CSCS, Registrars, etc

With all the several KYC we have been doing, why cant the registrars get linkup with CSCS and Brokers to sort out this problem.

Someone once said they do this on purpose to discourage people from claiming their dividends and it sure looks like that.
In many other countries, you don't need to track dividend payment dates or chase registrars to get your dividend. That automatically goes to your stockbroking account from where you bought the stock in the first place and then you choose if to reinvest it or have it paid out to your registered bank account.

That doesn't sound like rocket science, but This is Nigeria!

download the E-Dividend mandate form for both stocks , fill it , sent to Morgan Capital.
Also request a Share transfer form from Morgan Capital, fill it n send it to them too

It's sad that investors have to worry about getting dividends when it should be sorted out between company registrar & stockbroker.
Hopefully at some point, the Securities commission can get the registrars and stockbrokers to sort out this BS.

Abeg Has anyone here recently gone through the stress registrars put people through to get unclaimed dividends?
isn't there something that can be done to make the process seamless, we all kuku have BVN in this country, can't they just tie that in somehow and leave all this type of request

go and bring the left eye of a lion to collect your unclaimed dividend as your signature now is different fom that of 20yrs ago

See the request from one registrar that i got;

Proof of Purchase/Sworn Affidavit stating the loss of proof of purchase
Valid means of ID
Letter of Identification from Stockbroker
Letter for change of signature
Bankers Confirmation of Signature addressed to us

Even the government is asking people/countries for giveaway smh
