Hello All,

Please I would like to make a few clarifications as I prepare our documents for 489 visa lodgement.

1) Please do we need to notorise all the documents we wanted to submit before uploading on our immiaccount.

2) I read a few weeks ago that there is no more front loading of medicals for 489. This I also saw their website where 489 & 190 were not part of the visas listed that you can generate a HAP ID and doing your medicals before submitting your visa application.

3) I will like to confirm if Austransaction can also be used for our visa payment. Will I be transferring naira to them and how will they transfer the AUD equivalent.

Thank you.

Thank you very much for your response and suggestion.

Really appreciated.

Alphadoor:
SA 489 ITA today with 60 days validity means validity expires December 3, 2018.

waiting for November has two unknown variables , English and AIMS exams and you need both to pan out in your favor.

489 and 189 cost the same and requires same document, start working towards it now

My own opinion is to wait it out.

If by November 30th, no joy, fire on with your 489.

I was once in same situation, but i had only one unknown variable... English... and luckily it came through for me 5 days before 489 expired

Best of luck

Thank you very much for your response.

olumuyiwaoke:
put in for SA, however he will still have to write the exam eventually before he's allowed to practise. though i do not know the rules governing SA as regards changing from one visa status to another onshore. anything is better than nothing. immigration rules can change.

Please I will like some advice from our seniors here.

I understand Oga Bellong lives in SA as well so I would appreciate if you could add your opinion as well as to whether if this SA 489 is a good option to accept.

Thank you very much.

Thank you so much once again for responding so promptly.

Both options are very okay by us. We really appreciate your feedback.

God bless you.

bellong:
You have two options;

1. Submit application for this one now and if everything comes through for 189, submit application for it later.

2. Or Wait till December 1 if by then you will have the points needed for 189. If not, then submit the application by December 1, 2018.

I believe nobody can make this decision for you. Since your husband is willing to pay twice, I think he should go ahead. He does not have competent or superior English score yet and you are not sure when he will have it. If you both are confident that by November, you will get all the points required, you can go with option 2. If not, option 1 will be preferred option.

Thank you very much Oga Bellong for your prompt response.

The ITA is valid till 3 December 2018.

My husband does not mind get this and still putting in for 189 further down the line.

He just wants something concrete especially in this era of so much uncertainity.

Just that it means paying twice which he is open to but I just wanted to run it by other well informed members of this house.

bellong:
@Omoefe1994,

This is a tough call because it is filled with many uncertainties. When is the invitation expiring?

Hello House,

Thanks to everyone commenting and sharing their knowledge here.

A bit of good news!!

We got ITA this morning for 489 from South Australia for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for my husband.

We have been on this journey for a while but met with a bit of disappointment last year when he did not pass one of the 4 modules in the AIMS professional exams in the September 2017 diet which will have enabled us to apply for 189 as Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS).

We decided to try various state nominations for MLT and we were so fortunate to apply for SA nomination on 5th July just as they opened their nomination for the new financial year. Coincidentally, the opportunity closed a few days later and its now currently available only if you meet the high points criteria. Almost 3 months later, this morning we got the ITA mail.

However my husband has just recently written the September 2018 of the AIMS exams again and we are hopeful for a positive result sometime in November so we can explore 189 though his current score is 60 so he may need to either rewrite English or get his additional years of experience assessed by AIMS or I can get my skills assessed by CPA to give him additional points since I have IELTS result already.

But my husband wants to go ahead and apply for this SA 489 since that is what is certain now but I'm just seeking for opinions here on if we should hold on and not accept this SA 489 yet since its a provisional visa.

Please I will like some advice from our seniors here.

I understand Oga Bellong lives in SA as well so I would appreciate if you could add your opinion as well as to whether if this SA 489 is a good option to accept.

Thank you very much.

Thanks a lot for your prompt response as well. Its really helpful. We will go ahead with IELTS General then.

Vinsmuft:
As you have been told, it must be minimum of 7 7 7 7 to get 10 points. And tell your husband to do IELTS General, rather than Academic. For most people, IELTS General is easier than Academic

Thanks a lot for your prompt response. We will do the needful.

Bnimz:
You read correctly... 7 7 7 7 is required for 10 points... Even 9 9 9 6.5 won't work... So the answer is No

Hello House,

Please I'm new here and would like to humbly request for a clarification.

My husband just got his IELTS Academic and his scores were:
Speaking: 8, Writing: 8, Reading: 6, Listening: 6 with an overall average of 7.

Please will he be able to claim 10 points from this as from what I've read here so far, its appears he needs to have a minimum of 7 across board to claim 10 points. Please kindly advise. Thanks.
