CrimeWHY MEN RAPE ??? by Omoocash(op): 3:04pm On Jun 23, 2016
WHY MEN RAPE?

You may find thousands of article on rape victims on the Internet, but have you ever thought why men rape? How does an affectionate lover evolve into a hyped scavenger who leaps out at every single prey? Is it to satisfy their sexual desire or is it to prove that they can overpower anything weak?

Expert psychologists define rape as a form of assault where one individual forces another to have sexual intercourse against that person's will. Most experts believe the primary cause of rape is an aggressive desire to dominate the victim rather than an attempt to achieve sexual fulfillment. They consider rape an act of violence rather than principally a sexual encounter. Here are some of the reasons according to the experts,

To Procreate: Two present day sociobiologist's claim in their book that unsuccessful men use rape to gain sexual access to desirable mates. By making women pregnant, they proclaim to pass their genes on to the next generation. The above sentence may seem absurd as there are many inadequacies in this argument. For instance, if the primary concern of a rapist is to just procreate, then why do rapists attack the helpless elderly, menopausal women and innocent children? And has anybody thought about the number of murders made by the rapists as the dead bodies will never give birth. So one can conclude that this argument is baseless on many cases.

To get rid of frustration: Research states that some men do not ejaculate during rape. This proves that whatever is driving this section of men to rape is more than the sexual drive. In one of the interview by the rapists, they say that, "We rape women who need to be disciplined. They do not want to talk to most people. They think they know better than most of us ". Here the rapists were using sexual assault to punish women who were not being genuinely feminine in their thoughts and work. They vent out their anger and frustration on a situation. However one can neither identify sexual drive nor the act of procreating. Men rape because they believe they have the right to control and to punish women who do not obey their rules of behaviour.

Right to control: Rape is about power, not sex. A rapist uses actual force or violence or the threat of it to take control over another human being. Some reports state that rapists use drugs to descend a person's ability to fight back. It has become an expression of unequal power relations between men and women. Such unequal power relations are not the result of nature or evolution but societies. Society has always drawn a margin to the women community, if they seem crossing it they are subject to grand victimization.

Biological reasons: Biologically men rape because they are flooded with hormones, and are overwhelmed with sexual desire. These rapists are typically teenagers who engage in acquaintance rape or date rape Whatever may be the reason the prime concern of an individual is, can I change these facts as a historical report and recreate a better place to live in safe, Rape takes place only when men learn to rape, and it can be eradicated simply by substituting new lessons. Enhance the essence of equal responsibilities, love relationships and the sense of being loved and to love. Understand him, to evolve him into a finer being

EFFECTS AND AFTERMATH OF RAPE

Effects and aftermath of rape can include both physical trauma and psychological trauma. However, physical force is not necessarily used in rape, and physical injuries are not always a consequence. Deaths associated with rape are known to occur, though the prevalence of fatalities varies considerably across the world. For rape victims the more common consequences of sexual violence are those related to reproductive health, mental health, and social wellbeing

No two survivors of sexual assault react in exactly the same way, or feel the same emotions at the same time, or heal in exactly the same way. Every survivor deals with the assault in a way that addresses her particular situation. While every survivor should feel encouraged to seek a healing path that works for her or him, there are some commonalities among most, if not all, sexual assault survivors. Remember, these are not “rules” for a “normal” reaction to sexual assault, but rather some of the many emotions and experiences you may have as a survivor. It is important to know that you are not alone in your pain or experience.

PHYSICAL RESPONSE TO RAPE

Common physical injuries received by rape victims include:
• vaginal bleeding or infection
• fibroids
• decreased sexual desire
• genital irritation
• pain during intercourse
• chronic pelvic pain
• urinary infections
• pregnancy

PSYCHOLOGICAL RESPONSE TO RAPE
Self blame: Self-blame is among the most common of both short- and long-term effects and functions as an avoidance coping skill that inhibits the healing process and can often be remedied by a cognitive therapy technique known as cognitive restructuring
A leading researcher on the psychological causes and effects of shame, June Tangney, lists five ways shame can be destructive:

• lack of motivation to seek care;
• lack of empathy;
• cutting themselves off from other people;
• anger;
• aggression.

Anger : Not surprisingly, anger is one of the strongest feelings many victims feel about the assault. The anger may not be immediate, but once it comes, it may last for years. Many survivors experience intense feelings of rage at their attacker, friends, family, or life in general. They may be angry at the treatment they received after the rape, or because they feel powerless. While anger can be a difficult emotion to deal with , anger directed at the perpetrator can play an important role in the healing process. “I just want to kill him!” “How dare the police, courts, doctors, etc. treat me like that!”

Suicide: Childhood and adulthood victims of rape are more likely to attempt or commit suicide.
Guilt: It is very unfair, but for this particular crime it is the victim who often experiences guilt, rather than the criminal. This is because we have been brought up to live our lives in a certain way, taught to be careful about where we go and with whom, even what we should wear. We are taught to be aware of attack. So if we are raped, other people may ask questions that seem to point the finger of blame at us, for example 'Why didn't you lock the door?' or 'What were you doing there?

Betrayal :If the man who sexually assaulted you is someone you trusted, betrayal is another common feeling for victims of this crime.
'Trust is the main issue here, trust betrayed often by those they believed had their best interests at heart
Shame :After being sexually assaulted, it is natural for women/men to feel differently about their bodies. Some feel that their bodies are dirty. They spend a lot of time washing themselves and, if they were raped in the home, cleaning their home

Nightmares :Nightmares may be another response to sexual assault. They may occur immediately after the rape, and they may last for many years, sometimes reappearing as a 'flashback' which seems to take you back to the event and re-live it.
'Flashbacks' are like nightmares, though they happen while you are awake. They are a re-experience of the sexual assault that has happened to you. One survivor has described flashbacks as:
'like viewing slides in a slide show. When the slide goes by too fast, but slow enough to give you some parts of the image

Sadness/helplessness :Feeling helpless, powerless or isolated can lead to you feeling depressed. Feeling depressed is commonly associated with sexual assault. It is, however, depression with a cause. Once you recognise it, say to yourself 'this is depression and I am feeling depressed for a good reason'

Not wanting to be touched :Women and men very frequently feel that they do not want to be touched once they have been raped. This is easy to understand, however it may make living in a sexual relationship with another person difficult. Your partner may or may not be understanding of the trauma you have gone through. There are counsellors at a CASA or community health centre that can assist your partner with their thoughts or feelings.

Embarrassment. Talking about the rape or describing the physical details to strangers (police, medical staff, advocates, courts, etc.) can be very difficult and may produce a feeling of embarrassment for some survivors. Because sex and bodies are thought of to be private and somewhat shameful, it can be emotionally painful to recount the assault or even to inform friends and family. “What will people think?” “How can I tell a room full of strangers what happened?”

Fear. Some survivors are fearful because of threats made by the rapist during or after the assault. Fear of society’s reaction if the rape is reported is also a fear of survivors. Given that survivors often seem to be blamed for the assault, it is not surprising that they would be fearful of social reprisals or accusations. Many fear that they won’t be believed by friends or family. Others may feel a generalized fear of all men or certain situations, because of the trauma endured during the assault. “I’m afraid of so many things—will I get pregnant, contract an STD . . . will I ever be able to be intimate again?”

THREE – FOLD OBJECTIVE OF THIS LECTURE ON “RAPE”
 WHAT TO DO TO AVOID BEING RAPED
 IF RAPED, WHAT TO DO
 HOW TO HELP RAPE VICTIMS

MEANING OF RAPE
Rape : unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception

It is a form of sexual sadism involving unlawful sexual penetration either by coercion, force, blackmail or under false promises. "I believe that whatever violates the integrity of a woman's body should be considered rape," says Brinda Karat, a women's activist. "Sexual violence apart from being dehumanizing, is an unlawful intrusion of the right to privacy and sanctity of the female," says Justice A. S. Anand
Rape (law), sexual intercourse against a person’s will. Most experts believe the primary cause of rape is an aggressive desire to dominate the victim rather than an attempt to achieve sexual fulfillment. They consider rape an act of violence rather than principally a sexual encounter.
In a nut shell, forcing anyone into sexual intercourse against her will is rape. It is a violent, terrifying and humiliating assault. Rape is a pervasive form of gender-based violence. It has long symbolized in a man’s ability to have his way with a woman. Most rapists are known by those they attack and they are often the victim’s father, partner, neighbour, a date or some other household figure. Rape is considered a crime against a person. In some societies, like India, the rape of a girl is thought to bring shame on her family. The family may consider marrying the girls to her rapist as the only way to recover her honour. In some cases, the girl is condemned to prostitution (Feming, 1999).

Rape happens to all ages, educational levels, religions, sexual orientations and physical descriptions. Victims of rape range from a few months old to their 90s (Population Reference Bureau, 2000). Religious beliefs and education have no influence on a woman’s vulnerability. The elderly, mentally and physically disabled are often victimized because they are seen helpless. Rape is an act of power, anger and dominance over another because they are seen helpless. Sex is a weapon used to gain control. Rape not only violates a woman’s integrity, but also her sense of safety and control over her life, too. Rapists do not care about the victim’s well-being or her feelings. Even if the victim is sick or pregnant, the rapist does not think rationally during the attack. He does not see the victim as a human being but just as an object to dominate.

TYPES OF RAPES
Forcible Rape : Sexual intercourse carried out against a person’s will by the use or threat of physical force is sometimes referred to as forcible rape. Historically, a person could only be charged with rape if force was used to subdue the victim. Most states retain use of force as part of their definition of rape or, at the least, of the most serious form of rape

Stranger rape when is forced, unwanted sexual intercourse by someone the victim does not know.

Statutory Rape: Sexual intercourse between an adult and a minor is known legally as statutory rape. The adult can be found guilty of statutory rape even if the minor was a willing partner. Sexual intercourse with a person who has not reached the age of consent is known as statutory rape. The age of consent for sexual intercourse varies depending on state law, but is no higher than 18 in any state. Under most state laws, the younger the victim is, the greater the punishment. Statutory rape laws traditionally treated men or boys as the prospective offenders and young women or girls as prospective victims. However, some jurisdictions have enacted gender-neutral statutory rape laws. States also typically treat sexual intercourse as rape if the victim is considered incapable of giving consent for a reason other than age. For example, if a person has sexual intercourse with someone who is drugged or asleep, or who is mentally retarded, that person may be found guilty of rape.

Marital rape- is the rape of your spouse. It was once thought that once you consented to a marriage that you were obligated to serve your husband in any way he saw fit and this meant sexually. But since the early eighties we have been passing laws state by state to try and change is control a man has over the sexually activity in the marriage. Typically, the husband forces himself on his wife at a time when she is unwilling to have sexual intercourse.

Heterosexual rape usually refers to an assault in which a male forces himself upon a female, and homosexual rape usually refers to an assault in which a male forces himself upon another male. However, both terms (heterosexual and homosexual rape) have been used to refer to an assault in which a female forces herself upon a male or a female.

Gang rape is a sexual assault in which several persons force themselves upon a victim.

Acquaintance rape- are rapes by someone that you know. When a person rapes a person he or she knows, it is called either acquaintance rape or date rape. The two people may be friends, former lovers, or presently dating. Studies indicate that a woman is more likely to be raped by an acquaintance than by a stranger or a relative.
An acquaintance may commit forcible rape. However, the term acquaintance rape is usually applied when the sexual intercourse is nonconsensual but does not involve the physical coercion typically associated with forcible rape, such as assault or threats of violence.

Date rape is a sexual assault in which the victim is psychologically pressured, drugged or sedated before the rape. Date rape is so-named because it often involves a dating couple. The male may spike a female's alcoholic beverage, making her unable to resist his advances or even unable to remember the rape. Would-be date rapists have used sleeping pills to sedate their intended victims. In addition to adding sleep-inducing medications to alcohol, date rapists also have combined them with marijuana, cocaine and other drugs.
Drug facilitated rape is when drugs or alcohol are used to compromise an individual's ability to consent to sexual activity. In addition, drugs and alcohol are used to minimize the resistance and memory of the victim of a sexual assault.

Rape of Men: Traditional rape laws were gender specific, providing that only women could be victims of rape and only men could be rapists. In recent years an increasing number of states have rewritten their rape laws to be gender neutral. In these states it is possible, although unlikely, for a woman to be charged with raping a man. However, in society as a whole, rape of men—whether by women or other men—is not a highly visible issue.

CAUSES OF RAPES
The cause of rape is never sexual really it's all about power.. and to see someone in a position where they are helpless.. so the rapist can feel powerful.. often they are men who are insecure to approach women openly so they force them.. take them by force.. .. they don't do it to give pleasure.. I do believe that those men get their sexual pleasure and satisfaction.

It has to do with dominance, power, and hating women enough to do something that will humiliate and shame her the most. It has NOTHING to do with a rape victim wearing short skirts, lots of make-up, or wearing shirts that expose their breasts, because even little old ladies get raped. It has NOTHING to do with a woman acting so sexy that the jerk who rapes her simply "lost control" of his lust. Only a man who is truly mentally ill can be driven to rape. It is a way for a very angry and sick man to dominate over a woman by the use of power, violence, and fear. NO victim of rape ever "asks" for it

PoliticsFayose Vs. Fayemi. ---- The Facts by Omoocash(op): 10:33pm On May 27, 2016
Dr Kayode fayemi I paid #2.6b for workers salary,Mr Fayose also said he paid #2.6b, how? see fact. • Fayemi hired 708 board members. Fayose reduced them to 50. Fayemi had 429 SAs/SSAs, Fayose reduced them to 11. Fayemi appointed 735 Ekiti people into the 16 LGS and LCDAs, but Fayose reduced them to 80. Fayemi's cabinet had 43 Exco members, but Fayose reduced them to 21. Fayemi engaged 800 peace corps members with each earning N20,000.00 per month while Fayose has none. Fayemi hired 535 Ekiti people into EKSTMA, each taking N25,000.00 per month, but Fayose reduced them to 35, while in Paramedics, Fayemi engaged160 Ekiti people but Fayose has none. Fayemi paid Senior Citizens (Owo Arugbo) totalling 19,627, each taking N5,000.00 monthly but Fayose has cancelled the scheme. In Youth Volunteers Scheme, Fayemi hired 5,000 youths each taking N10,000.00 monthly while Fayose has none. This is besides Fayose himself disclosing that he discovered 500 ghost workers during staff audit exercise and save 500 million from it. All workers can confirm these figures in the office of the Accountant General, Ministry of Finance and SSG's office. The question is: how can you have this statistics and Ekiti workers believed for a long time that Fayose is paying the same salary as Fayemi until they now realise that Fayose has been duping them? The truth is that what we have in Ekiti State is a rogue regime that appears to hypnotIse Ekiti workers for a long time, shutting their sense of reasoning before hunger forced them to rediscover themselves again. Does Fayose have money to pay workers with these facts?

UI shut indefinitely
by Taiwo Adebulu, Ibadan, April 26, 2016 at 3:36 pm in Campus Life, News Update
The management of University of Ibadan (UI) has announced the closing down of the institution following the on-going mass protest by students. The announcement was made by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka on Tuesday on Diamond FM, the varsity’s radio station. In the brief announcement, the students were told to vacate the halls of residence and the university before 4pm. The students are protesting over the rustication of one Michael Tunji- Ekpeti, 500-level Petroleum Engineering, who was said to have participated in a mass protest last semester when his hostel, Independence Hall, had no electricity and water supply for two weeks. The students were said to have been enraged because he was singled out in the mass protest. Meanwhile, some student leaders have gone round the halls of residence to dispel as a mere rumour the announcement made by the university management. As at the time of filing this report, the protest has not ceased as the university gates are closed.
