Travel7 Things Nigerians Must Not Wear When Traveling To Abroad by Omoocash(op):
7 Things Nigerians must not wear when Traveling Abroad

Almost every Nigerian gets super excited the minute they get their visa application approved. No matter the country they are travelling to: England, Pakistan, Dubai or even just Cameroun, they tend to make a big deal of it, especially when it is their first time travelling out of the country. After the excitement comes the rush of anxiety when getting ready for the trip, and the first question they usually ask is: “What should I wear?” While this question might seem superficial, it is very vital as what you wear or do not wear goes a long way to determine how great or ‘not-great’ your trip would be. It might be tempting to dress fashionably for aesthetic reasons, but it also important to consider comfort and safety.

To help answer the question on what to wear, Jovago.com, Africa’s No. 1 online hotel booking site has put together a list of what you should not
wear when traveling abroad as a guide.

(1) Tight clothing
While tight clothes might be fashionable, especially for women, since it emphasizes their curves, it is the not the best for travelling. Trips abroad usually take longer than an hour and within that time, tight clothes can restrict blood flow in the already-confining space of an airplane seat. Is the risk of deep vein thrombosis really worth it? It is best to ditch those skinny jeans or tight fitting top for natural, breathable fabrics .

(2) High Heels
High heels have a way of adding class and style to an ensemble. Many celebrities and fashion icons are seen at the airport wearing heels, however, while they look picture perfect, they are mostly in pain. Heels are restrictive, uncomfortable and they have been said to cause a long list of conditions, from chronic foot pain to hammer toe. Aside from that, they have a lot of disadvantage as regards security. They do not exactly facilitate a clean exit in case of emergency and there is a huge chance you can slip and fall at the airport terminals.

(3)Strong Perfume
A good smell gives a good impression, so, you might want to smell really nice on your trip as you would be meeting new people. You need to remember that smells (including seemingly nice ones) are intensified on a plane, where passengers are cramped in close quarters and stale air is recycled throughout the cabin. You may adore the scent Giorgio Armani Idole, but your seatmate could find it nauseous. A seatmate with allergies or asthma could have a reaction to strong perfumes. It is best to avoid smelling like anything.

(4) Expensive jewelry/bags
While you might want to impress the people on your flight or the foreigner you would meet on arrival, dressing this way might do your more harm than good in the first place. There is a huge chance you would attract the wrong kind of attention – a pickpocket could tackle you to steal your Rolex or Tour billion on arrival. There is no safe place. Leave your valuables at home.

(5) Caps/hats
Most people tend to put on all sorts of caps when travelling abroad, either as a form of fashion or a way to protect their head & face from the harsh weather. While this might seem like a good idea, it really isn’t. Caps, especially baseball caps, scream tourist. You can opt for a stylish wide-brimmed hat (during the summer) or cloche/fedora (during the winter).

(6)Bright Colors
Most Nigerians love bright colours. They like to stand out and be noticed, especially when they are in a new place. While travelling abroad however, it is best to stay away from bold colors and loud patterns, that way it is easier to blend in and not draw unwanted attention to yourself. Stick with conservative hues like navy, blue, tan and grey.

(7) Revealing clothes
While revealing clothes are tolerated in most urban parts of Nigeria, not all countries abroad tolerate such. The last thing you want to deal with is being denied entry or people looking at your like you are a taboo when you have arrived a new country. Women should avoid revealing clothing. Men also should avoid shorts and sleeveless tops, especially in many Middle Eastern countries.

CareerThe Best Way To Ask For Salary Increase From Your Boss And Get It ! by Omoocash(op): 7:28pm On Jun 13, 2015
Asking for a raise at work is probably one of the most difficult decisions you will have to make in your career. It is even much more difficult if you and your boss are not best buddies or if your company has instituted several protocols that you have to go through to make this possible. In any case, these shouldn’t stop you from demanding an increase if you feel you are worth it.

You should also understand that your boss will probably not increase your salary simply because you demanded it. Therefore, it is very important that you consider these steps if you want to ask your boss for a raise he will never refuse.

1. Gather a stockpile of leverage

First of all, before you start making demands, you need to consider your worth objectively. You want to take into account your job responsibilities including leadership tasks, your level of education, years of experience and training, and your track record of achievements. These are the ammunitions you will need.

Your boss will never give you a raise simply because you have worked longer than everybody else. Also note that the standard response you will get is that the company does not have enough in its budget to support your raise. When asking your boss for a raise, you will need to assess your worth to be able to convince your boss to see your point.

2. Seek relevant information

Secondly, try to gather useful information. You want to know if the company’s budget can actually support your demand, who has the power to make your wish come true, if there’s a performance review in place, if the salary increase is by rank or by fixed schedule, and what others in similar positions in the industry are earning.

The last thing you want to do is ask your boss for a raise when the company is posting losses or going over your boss’ head to ask his/her superiors for salary increase. Both doesn’t usually turn out well.

3. Build your case & negotiate

The ammunitions we talked about earlier: your accomplishments, the initiative you took that led to the success of that deal, etc. Now is the time to put them to use. Don’t go around saying things like, “I need the money and you know I deserve it because I have worked for X number of years”. That is weakness and it doesn’t really help anyone.

You will need some good negotiation skills. If your boss is not budging on the salary, tell him/her you will consider non-monetary benefits e.g. an official car, wardrobe allowance, rental assistance, or a better job title. Do not be greedy, be reasonable in your demands & don’t threaten to quit if your demands are not met, you are not indispensable—unless you really are.

4. Don’t take rejection personally

There is a fairly good chance you will get turned down when asking your boss for a raise, but that should not stop you from making your demands. If this happens, don’t develop a negative attitude towards your boss or your work. Continue to keep improving yourself and if you really have to move on to a better job, don’t burn bridges. Keep the relationship with your boss cordial. It has far reaching advantages than burning bridges.

FamilyCan Couple With Genotype AA & AS Give Birth To SS? by Omoocash(op): 5:12am On May 17, 2015
Hello Nairalanders in the house, please read the story below carefully as we intend to
Proffer solution to the near calamitous situation. SAVE A HOME, SAVE A NATION .

My friend's 10 year Marriage is about to collapse.

His, my friend's genotype is AA and his wife's genotype is AS but their 4 year old daughter has been confirmed to have SS genotype by not less than 4 different medical experts. He confronted the wife and accused her of infidelity but she vehemently denied having any affair with another man. In other to prove her wrong, my friend subjected the little girl to a paternity test and there he got the shock of his life - the result showed he actually is the father of the girl. At first he accused the doctor of compromise because he is their family doctor and somehow relates to the wife. He then decided to go to another hospital to prove the paternity of the girl child there and then he got another shocker - the first result was actually correct. As It stands, my friend has consulted more than five other doctors outside the state of his residence and all Confirmed that the girl's genotype is SS and he actually is the father of the child despite his and the wife's genotype being as stated above. Even the doctor's are confused by the results as it negate conventional medical norm.

My question now is, experts in the house, is there anything that can lead to such unconventional biological flaw? Under what condition can AS and AA couple have an SS child? Can mutation lead to such condition? My friend insists on divorce because he doesn't believe the wife. Should he go ahead based on what we all know about genotype?

Please I need matured advice on this. This is a REAL LIFE SITUATION AND NO FICTION. I WOULD HAVE MENTIONED NAMES AND ADDRESS OF THE COUPLE BUT I DON'T HAVE THEIR PERMISSION YET. THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW
