STILL ON PSS 2019 Hon. (Prince) Segun Seriki, unveils his ambition, addresses the good people of Ogun Central senatorial district and uttered some words on marble viz; - We know what we are doing, those who do not understand what we are doing shall continually be at dilemma. - A wiseman should not fall twice. - He who does not belong to Omoilu is a person that thrives and wallows in the past and does not deserve to reap where he didn't sow. - Whoever ask us what we are doing seeks clarification, we shall enlighten as we are presently doing. May God not cast us all away from his presence. I thank those who dedicated their precious time to accompany me to Sango Ota yesterday, as we refuse to be jittery. - I urge you all to rally round my humble self to achieve this feat as I step forward in the name of God Almighty and the leadership of our foundation to declare my intention to contest the Ogun 2019 guber seat. - I am an indigene of Ìjèbú Igbó, I am a younger brother to SPBK, I married an egba woman, I shall not despise the egbas. I humbly ask for the support of the people of Ogun Central, I want you to know today that I am also an Egba man, my wife is from the famous Oladapo family in Ikija in Abeokuta North Local Government Area. Egba is part of my history, I am your son in-law. - He who thrives on the properties of his parents and predecessors shall definitely abuse his priviledges. We won't cease to abide by the ethics of law. - As regards my gubernatorial ambition, I am contesting as "Omoilu". Villains see us as deceiving ourselves, but we are here expanding on a daily basis. - I approached SPBK as regards my ambition, he told me he isn't imposing myself on the party, hence any member who is interested in contesting should step forward rather than engaging and embracing thuggery and social vices. - By the special grace of God, if I become the governor, I shall not fail you all. The election we are anticipating is that of Ogun East and Central, we won't fail to call on our friends from Ogun West to support if they so wish.

Kashamu calls for prayers, sacrifice @ Eid-el-Fitri The Senator representing Ogun East at the Senate, Prince Buruji Kashamu has extended his warm wishes to Muslims across the globe as they mark the Eid-el-Fitri today. Kashamu, who spoke in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, also called on Muslims and Nigerians generally to pray for the peace and progress of the nation. He urged Nigerians to be hopeful of better days, saying the current challenges we are facing as a people shall soon be a thing of the past. Kashamu said: “As the world marks Ed-el-Fitri, I wish to use this medium to wish my Muslim brothers and friends the very best as they celebrate. “Ed-el-Fitri is firmly rooted in sacrifice, which for me is very significant for believers of Islam. It is an important religious day that marks the end of the pious month of Ramadan for believers of Islam. It is on this day that Muslims around the world break their month-long fast from dawn to sunset with a sweet feast after Eid prayer is performed. "Therefore, as we mark this important season, may we all work consciously towards a better and greater world. “As we celebrate, it is important to remember our less fortunate brothers and sisters who at this moment need our help, let's share our foods and drinks with them, they are part of us and there could not have been a better time to remember them. Let us therefore show compassion towards them as we celebrate. Happy Ed-el-Fitri.”

Beninois arraigned for alleged Impersonation A 57-year-old Beninese, Abduo Rachidatuo, was on Thursday charged before an Igbosere Magistrates' Court in Lagos, over alleged impersonation and disobedience to a court order. Rachidatuo, who is a businesswoman, is standing trial on a three-count charge of breach of peace, contempt of court and impersonation. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count and was granted N500, 000 bail. The Prosecutor, Insp. Steven Molo, told the court that the accused committed the alleged offeces between July 2015 and June 21, at Abule-Egba area of Lagos. He said that the accused falsely presented herself to be a Nigeria citizen by birth, particularly from Lagos State. "The accused through an ECOWAS electronic Passport No. 06820812, presented herself to be Abudu Rachidatu, a Nigeria by birth, instead of Abduo Rachidatuo, a Benin national. "However a Republic of Benin Passport no. B0483183 which was issued to accused on Sept 2, 2015, at Porto Novo, indicates that she is from Benin republic and not Nigeria," Molo said. The prosecutor also said that the accused disobeyed two orders of the Federal High Court, Lagos, which were issued by Justice M. N. Yunusa and Justice M. B. Idris respectively. Molo said that the two court orders were issued on Sept. 9, 2015, in suit No. FHC/L/CS/715/2015 and June 13, in suit No. FHC/L/CS/883/2017, respectively. The prosecutor told the court that the order had prohibited the accused from ejecting an employee of Rana Prestige Industries, Mr. Modest Senon, from the premises of the above company. He said that the accused disobeyed the court order and ejected Senon without lawful excuse. The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 114, 123 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015. The accused denied the charge and the Magistrate, Mrs O. O. Oshin, granted her bail in the sum of N500, 000, with two sureties in like sum. She said that one of the sureties must be a civil servant not less than grade level 14 and the other surety must show evidence of six months tax payment to the Lagos State Government. Mrs Oshin adjourned the case until July 26 for mention. The accused was conveyed to prison by the Kirikiri female vehicle. |
GOVERNOR AMOSUN'S UNFAIR TREATMENT OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT STAFF it is sad that some local government staffers and pensioners are yet to be paid April and May, 2017 salary and pension on flimsy excuse of inability to submit BVN. Unconfirmed source claimed that the fact of the issue is that there is no fund to back the payment and therefore the BVN palaver is a decoy. Information at my disposal reveals that while the Governor has concluded plans to ensure the payment of June salary to workers in the state latest by tomorrow, Friday, 23rd June, 2017 that of the local government employees shall not be due for payment until next three weeks, in the least. This is absurd and wickedness. My worry is that Mr Governor has suppressed the voice of Ogun state workers that nobody dare talk or criticize his bad policies more so that he has sacked four distinguished labour leaders and in particular number one labour leader/ NLC chairman without a wink. I weep for the local government and I pray for her survival. The eid fitri , the coming Muslim festival shall be done by local government and pensioners without money and pain minds. May Allah take control. Otunba Comrade Niyi-Osoba. |
I don't know why some people don't mind their business, a man that has no hands in the economy melt down of this country, a man who has never dupe or fraud this country, you have the people that fraud this nation. the people who brought us this calamity are out there, as for me I pray that God will continue to bless Spbk. |
SENATOR BURUJI KASHAMU: A PHILANTHROPIC LEGISLATOR Life mandates us to continually choose between good and bad in every sphere. In government, the ramifications of choices we make are evident in the quality of life of the people. Poverty, carnage, diseases and other vices are due to the bad choices made by uncaring leaders. A good, caring, benevolent and visionary leader would go the extra mile in making far-reaching choices for the benefit of the people. Senator (Prince) Buruji Kashamu (a.k.a SPBK) is that kind of leader. SPBK is not only the friend that loves at all times but also the brother that stands by you in times of adversity. His instincts are primed to sense pain; his intellectual dexterity and material resources have been invested in empowering the down-trodden and vulnerable in the society. Those who come to him in tears return with smiles and greater hope for a better future. Unlike the powerful and selfish rich who find pleasure only in their own comfort , SPBK finds pleasure in doing good. All his activities at the Red Chamber of the National Assembly are people-centred. For him, the immutable words of Spanish novelist, Carlos Ruiz Zafon are true: "Presents are made for the pleasure of who gives them, not the merits of who receives them". Without a doubt, SPBK cares.

Unfortunately, the loops/facebook/Nairaland/social/traditional media are not a court of law and most of the anti-Kashamu elements lack the skills to either investigate or prosecute a case or proffer answers to your posers. Take your posers and facts, if any, to the appropriate forum - a court of law - and justify or prove your allegations/insinuations beyond reasonable doubt. Anything short of this is just noise in the market place! |
RE: US COURT RULES AGAINST SENATOR KASHAMU The sensationalisation of the ruling of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit per Posner J. is but another chapter in the misinformation and deliberate falsification of facts. This action was not brought against Senator Buruji Kashamu. It was initiated by him in 2015 before the attempted abduction saga occurred and was already pending in the District Court in Northern Illinois seeking to enforce the provisions of the Mansfield Act (a United States Law which forbids US law enforcement agents from carrying out law enforcement activities outside US territory). At the time this action was commenced, all the Senator had was information that an abduction was being planned against him. Few months later that information was confirmed when a battalion of armed and masked National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) officials attacked, sacked and laid siege to his home for six days until they were forced to leave his premises by court order. The US action continued thereafter on the evidence that showed that some US agents had indeed directed the operation against Senator Kashamu. The judgment of the District Court not deal with the legality or otherwise of the act of those US agents but stopped at the threshold of consideration of the question whether the Mansfield Act could be the basis for complaint by an individual alleging illegal law enforcement activities in violation of that Act. The District Court’s answer to that question was that the Mansfield Act did not give an individual any cause of action but could only be enforced by a government or state. It is from that ruling that Senator Kashamu appealed to the Seventh Circuit whereupon the Seventh Circuit rejected the appeal. In the belated opinion given again by Justice Posner, as he had done twice before, he exceeded the scope of the questions placed before the court and made remarks that have no basis in the record before him but which appears to emanate from his own prejudices. The media probably needs a stimulant to sustain their audience now that the drama of the US election is abating. But they should be careful to be accurate in their reporting in order not to transcend the bounds of decency and legality as we have seen in the reaction of some overzealous Nigerian journalists. It is disturbing that the media has ignored the implication of the US Seventh Circuit’s pronouncement concerning the capacity of the US government to carry out police operations in foreign territory in breach of International Law and the municipal law of the victim state; as was exhibited in the unlawful attempt to abduct a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Who knows who will be next? The Nigerian courts have unequivocally declared that rendition is illegal and have proscribed such activity against Senator Kashamu in Nigerian territory. Signed Prince Ajibola Oluyede Counsel to Senator Buruji Kashamu

I DIDN'T APOLOGISE TO OGUN HEALTH COMMISSIONER, SAYS KASHAMU I have read the account of the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye about the telephone conversation I had with him. To my utmost surprise, Ipaye said I apologised to him for allegedly not following due process. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I did not apologise to him. Rather, after I engaged him on the phone, he was sober and apologised for not informing me before carrying out the demolition. He appreciated the maturity I displayed by calling him and apologised for his action even though he claimed that the Minister of Health directed him to pull down the healthcare centre. I called him because apart from being my younger brother from the same Ijebu Igbo community, Ipaye had been one of my doctors before he aspired for the House of Representatives and eventually appointed as Commissioner for Health by the present Ogun State government. So, when I heard that Ipaye and the council boss, Bayo Adekoya led some thugs and mobile policemen, with sledge hammer and cudgels to demolish the Primary Healthcare Centre being renovated by my office as part of my constituency projects, I felt the need to call and hear him out. When I asked him why they embarked on the demolition, he said the necessary approvals were not gotten before work commenced at the centre. I told him that I am aware that before work began at the centre, the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Engr. Adebayo Dayo and the contractors met severally with the Doctor who heads the healthcare centre, Dr. Adesanya Adeniyi. They agreed on what was to be done and how to go about it. He was the one who was monitoring the project and ensuring that it was according to specification. Even if we were to assume without conceding that "due process" was not followed as claimed by Ipaye and the state government, was any contravention notice served on the contractors? No. Was there any complaint by the minders of the over 50-year-old healthcare centre? No. Was there any final notice served or put on the facility? No! Despite the rabid criticisms from my political opponents and their hirelings, I am an advocate of politics without bitterness. I believe there is time for politics and governance. That is why I am on record as having congratulated Governor Ibikunle Amosun when he won his election for a second term in 2015. I also urged the nine PDP lawmakers in the State House of Assembly to cooperate with the State Government in the overall interest of our people. It was and still clear to me that if we continue to play politics with everything, all year round, our people will be at the receiving end of such acrimonious politics. But it is obvious that while we mean well for our dear state and its people, the APC-led State government has other plans. That is why they chose to demolish a healthcare centre being fixed for the benefit of our people barely 48 hours after some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) defected to the PDP in Ijebu Igbo - the same local government where they destroyed the healthcare centre. Who does not know it was the witch that killed the child if a witch cries at night and a child dies the next day? Signed Senator Buruji Kashamu Ogun East Senatorial District

Egba Descendant Union (EDU) Condemns Demolition of Ijebu Igbo Primary Health Centre The Egba Descendant Union (EDU) has condemned in strong terms the demolition of Ijebu Igbo primary health care center in Ijebu North LGA, on the orders of the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. A statement issued by its Director, Media and Publicity, Rev. Simon Olaleye, described the demolition exercise as atrocious and manifestly directionless effort coming at a time when the community lack a modern primary health centre that can offer quality health services to the masses at affordable rate. “We are at a loss as to why the governor should take this swift action by ordering the demolition of the Ijebu Igbo primary health centre on some reportedly outrageous excuse of not been informed. “Does it mean Ogun State is harbouring a heartless chief executive whose interest is mainly to install a successor in 2019 and not a chief executive that has the interest of the masses at heart?” "It is only a desensitized chief executive that behaves in this barbaric manner in this modern age and we are worried that this blunder is coming from our own son, Governor Ibikunle Amosun. We are disappointed that he is playing politics with the lives of numerous indigent patients that are meant to benefit from the project. “With the rate at which the governor is going, we only hope that the properties of his perceived political opponents are secured since we heard on good authority that the governor is bent on demolishing properties of potentials Ogun 2019 gubernatorial Aspirants. The group lamented that since Amosun assumed office as governor, “he has been jumping from one error of judgment to the other indicative of an amateur chief executive not prepared or equipped for serious business of governance that the state urgently deserves at the moment," he said. According to Olaleye, had the state governor bothered to consult widely, he would have been told that his excuse for demolishing the primary health centre to prevent his perceived political enemies from reaching out to the masses fall in the face of sound judgment because Ijebu Igbo town is in need of a modern and well equipped primary health care centre and Senator Buruji Kashamu should be commended for embarking on such project.

Tears As Amosun Orders Demolition of Primary health Care Centre Reports reaching us indicate that the Ogun State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye and the LCDA chairman, Hon. Bayo Adekoya, this morning led some thugs and mobile policemen to pull down a health care centre being renovated and re-equipped in Ijebu Igbo, Ijebu North Local Government Area of the state by the Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Buruji Kashamu despite the fact that the Ogun State ministry of health, the commissioner of health, Dr. Babatunde Ipaye and the residential doctor in charge of the primary health care centre were duly informed before the commencement of the project. They said they were not "carried along", hence the destruction of a health care centre that is meant to give better health care delivery and access to the people at the grassroots!

MY PURPORTED SUSPENSION FROM PDP IS AN ILLEGALITY (Lagos – November 25, 2016) My attention has been drawn to the political gimmick and tomfoolery of some impostors who purportedly suspended me and other respectable leaders of the party in Ogun State for allegedly mismanaging non-existent party funds. Ordinarily, I would not have dignified these characters that are full of illegalities with a response because it is common knowledge that it is the dog that wags the tail, and not the other way round. The two drunken masters – Oladipupo Adebutu and Sikirulai Ogundele – are suffering from grand illusion after their usual consumption of some chemical substances. Let it be known to the general public that these people do not represent the Ogun State Executive Committee of the PDP. The only authentic and recognized State Exco of the PDP is the one led by Engr. Adebayo Dayo which has been approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PDP, recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and affirmed by a court judgment. The Engr. Adebayo Dayo-led State Exco is the only body recognized to run the affairs of the PDP in Ogun State. It is the only body that can discipline any erring member. No other body that is not covered by the laws of the land can lay claim to suspending a member of the party, let alone NEC members. It is a pity. They should know that they cannot take away what they never gave ab initio. Very soon, they will end up they belong. At this juncture, it is apposite to state that my involvement and contributions to the PDP in the South West can never be compared to the impostors and their forefathers in politics who believe that because they are governors, they are the only ones who should be in control of the party in the zone. I am referring to people like Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State and his puppet, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State. One cannot help but wonder what the basis for such conduct is. They say some people want to destroy their legacies because they have become governors. Pray, what legacies are they talking about? Perhaps, it is the legacy of deceit, lies and corruption. These are men who could not pick their bills before they became governors. Now, that they have corruptly enriched themselves with public funds, they want to ride roughshod over everyone, including their benefactors. They have a proclivity for destroying worthy legacies while they pretend to be what they are not. What have they done to enhance the political fortunes of the party in the South West? Fayose and Mimiko should know that whoever throws stones in the market makes his own people vulnerable to the risk of being hit by them. I have always made my position clear. And that is that I have tremendous respect for the two PDP leaders – Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and Senator Ahmed Makarfi. While pushing for the reconciliation of the two leaders, it does not mean that I will not contest any injustice in respect of the PDP in Ogun State and the South West. What is the crux of the matter? Governors Fayose and Mimiko are fighting to take control of the PDP in the South West by dismantling all the structures they met when they came into the party and even before their emergence as governors. Unfortunately, Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who is one of the superior national leaders of the party and who should ensure that the positions are evenly shared among the stakeholders, is supporting his colleague-governors without considering the interest of others. Therefore, I wish to emphatically state that until the problem of the South West PDP is resolved, it is not over until it is over. On the national leadership crisis of the PDP, I have always been in support of a peaceful and amicable resolution of the issues. Some people might think that I am more supportive of one than the other. But, that is not true. I have always done my utmost best to bring the two leaders together and encouraged an amicable resolution of the issues in a win-win situation. In fact, given the recent happenings at the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, I put a call through to Senator Sheriff and urged him to allow the reconciliation process to pull through. I also called Senator Makarfi and appealed to him to do everything within his powers to encourage the reconciliation move. I did all these because of my love and passion for the party. I have got nothing to do with the national leadership crisis. My involvement in the legal tussle relates to the South West PDP alone. My interest is about the good of the PDP in Ogun State and the South West. On this note, I wish to appeal to our people to remain calm. We are in the PDP. We will remain in the PDP and continue to fight until justice is done in respect of the PDP in the South West. Signed Senator Buruji Kashamu Ogun East Senatorial District 25.11.16 |

Ondo PDP candidacy crisis! Setting the record straight! From Deji Bolusemihi I decided to make some research about the Ondo PDP Govnorship candidate stuff, my findings. 1, There was a duly elected Ondo State PDP Executive. 2, They were shoved aside by Mimiko & caretaker put in place. 3, The constitution of PDP does not give room for caretaker. 4, Caretaker did the primary that brought up Jegede. 5 Jimoh probably knows the position of the law & got the duly elected state PDP officials to conduct the primary that presented him. 6, PDP constitution allows primary to take place at the headquarters of each 6 geopolitical zones if the state headquarters is not conducive. 7, The elected PDP officials took INEC & PDP to court for recognizing caretaker & the primary held by caretaker. 8, Court ruled that the primary done by caretaker is a nullity on June 29, 2016. 9, PDP, INEC did not appeal the ruling until 90 days elapsed. 10, The elected state PDP applied for ruling of the court to be enforced. 11, Jegede went to appeal court after 90 days.12, Appeal court told him he cannot appeal a matter in which he's not a party. 13, He files for leave of court to appeal, 14, INEC said they cannot appeal the judgment because Supreme Court has prevented them from meddling in party affairs. 15, INEC statutorily must publish names of candidates 30 days before election. 16, Makarfi faction of PDP is not recognized by law because PDP constitution does not give room for caretaker. In all, it seems Jimoh saw an error by Mimiko & took advantage of it from the position of the law. |
Attention OGD, I'm surprised you are still being a pathological liar and full of deceit. One with have thought at such age, people make their ways straight with God. You continue to lie and build up stories about people because of what you have to eat. You are the one that needs money to put your structure back in Ogun state, hence the reason you hide under Ladi to extort money from Baba Adebutu, all in a bid to build back your structure since you both have decided to decamp to another party after LG elections on the 8th. You cook up stories with Ladi to make things look like I'm at war with Ladi and you have sunk this into the mind of Baba Adebutu and using same to extort more money from him. Sooner or later, you would be exposed to that baba. Ben Bruce's father was close friends with Baba Adebutu. So if I go to Baba Adebutu at his own request with Ben Bruce, did it mean I went to beg for money? For what? And for what reason? It is normal for anyone who feels he's got the capacity and ability to try to overthrow the state Exco or to fight to take the structure. Even children who feel they have come of age, would try to take their fathers property. If someone is to take the party, it's not someone like Ladi. He's my boy. Henceforth, look for another means to extort money from Baba. Not that I'm at war with his son. Ladi and I have nothing to resolve. SPBK |
SENATOR BURUJI KASHAMU:A PARADIGMATIC SOCIO- POLITICAL LEADER OF NOTE. It has never been more important for political leaders to manage their emotions and their emotional impact on followers. The world is speeding up, boundaries are blurring, and emotional intelligence is demonstratively the core factor that determines outstanding leadership in modern day political world. One notable public office holder whose outstanding leadership attributes distinguishes him from mere capable leaders is Senator Buruji Kashamu(SBK). The classic mindset of intelligence relies on intelligence quotient, or IQ, a terminology many people are familiar with, that is established by mid-teens and cannot increase. However, studies have shown that top leaders are not necessarily higher in IQ than average leaders but are significantly higher in emotional & social intelligence, which can be improved throughout life. In fact, IQ only predicts 10%-20% of life success. Highly emotionally and socially intelligent leader like Senator Buruji Kashamu is aware of himself and others and able to manage his own emotion and his emotional impact on his followers.Senator Buruji Kashamu is of the opinion that this principle is being used as an effective framework to coach and develop followers. Emotional Intelligence create an effective work climate that creates a culture of emotional intelligence at the subordinate level. Senator Buruji Kashamu idea of leading by doing is a proven technique for leadership effectiveness. Additionally, the ability of a political structure to function well depends on the relationships of the people involved, which ultimately relates to the degree of emotional intelligence of its followers and leaders. If Nigeria had more outstanding political leaders like Senator Buruji Kashamu,it would be a more comfortable place to live.

The bus, which is being led by a black Escort vehicle, is filled with the arms, ammunition, cudgels, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons. The idea of the pilot vehicle leading the white Coaster bus is to make it appear as if those inside the bus are VIPS and thereby beat security agents. We hereby call on the Police authorities to step up their stop and search operations on vehicles going into Port Harcourt between now and Thursday. Please, spread fast! |
Sheriff to Appeal Port Harcourt Court Judgment The judgement of the Federal High Court PH Division further exacerbates the conflicting position between that Division on the one hand and the Lagos and Abuja Divisions on the other. The Lagos Division by the hand of two different judges, Buba J. and Idris J. made preservative orders respectively on the 14th and 20th of May in respect of matters that challenged the notice of convention issued for election of replacement for incumbents of the NEC and NWC of the PDP whose tenure had not expired. The PH Division made orders ex parte on the 23rd of May validating a meeting held in PH by some PDP members as a valid National Convention held pursuant to that Notice, challenged in Lagos and validating a "caretaker Committee" installed at the meeting to replace the officers of the PDP NEC and NWC who were fighting for the continuation of their tenure at the Lagos Division. That ex parte order lapsed on the 9th of June. The Abuja Division on the 30th of June made interlocutory orders directing that only the ALIMODU SHERRIFF led NEC/NWC could represent the PDP or conduct its affairs including primaries (This confirmed the previous orders of the Lagos Division. This is a specific order concerning PDP primaries for Edo and Ondo States. Today the PH Division has restored its lapsed orders in a judgment again validating the PH meeting as a "National Convention" of the PDP, legitimizing the "Caretaker Committee" and the removal and replacement of the NEC and NWC of the PDP in what my clients describe as a coup detat. Clearly there is need for more to be done to determine which of the conflicting orders should be obeyed. My clients have therefore instructed that the PH judgment be appealed and INEC and PDP restrained from obeying it until the appeal is heard. The processes are currently being completed for filing today. We advise INEC to note the above and take legal advise so that it may not find itself in contempt of the valid and subsisting orders of the Abuja Division which are direct and specific concerning the Primaries of the PDP in Ondo and Edo States. PDP governors should shallow their pride - Ojuogboh Speaking to The Guardian, the Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Dr Cairo Ojuogboh, described the judgment as a mere academic exercise, stressing: “The judgment has nothing to with Ali-Modu Sheriff’s position as party chairman, because he was not in the PDP when the matter was instituted. We understand the desperation of those behind the judgment but it has no effect on the current situation. If they claim so, it means that all the PDP governors, senators and all those elected on the party platform in 2015 will vacate their seats immediately. ‘‘For the opposition to grow what is happening in the PDP now is good for the party because it will reposition it. ‘‘The people I pity are the PDP governors who caused the problem, but have failed to provide a solution to it. The earlier they set aside their egos and settle the crisis the better for them because very soon they will come for a return ticket for second term.” Ojuogboh also denied insinuations that Sheriff was interested in becoming the presidential candidate of the PDP in 2019 saying: “I have asked him, and he said he does not want to contest but to lead the party back to power.” Significantly, at the factional PDP primary which held at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, no official of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was present, though Ebenezer Alabi, caretaker chairman of the Sheriff faction was there. He said yesterday’s exercise remained the authentic primary election of the party and that its members and the voting public should dis-regard any other candidate parading himself as the candidate of the PDP. The PDP had last Monday held a similar election in the same venue where Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu emerged as winner of the primary election. Iduoriyekemwen also participated in that exercise. There was initial confusion as to whether the election would hold as armed security men blocked the entrance to the gate of the stadium. But Ebenezer said: “The delay was due to communication gap between the party and security agencies.” The chairman of the election panel, Ahmed Gulak, said 677 delegates were accredited to vote in the election to ensure that due process was followed despite Agbonayinma’s stepping down. Iduoriyekenmwne at the end of the exercise, told the delegates that if he became the governor, his administration would make Edo a state of excellence again.

How Are-Ekiti People Chased Fayose's Stomach Infrastructure Team Out Of Town It was a bitter experience for the Chief of Staff to Governor Ayodele Fayose, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, when he met more than he bargained for in his town, Are-Ekiti, when his people, in the fits of fury, chased him and Fayose's stomach infrastructure Special Assistant, Sunday Anifowose alias Sunshine, and their team out of the town. Fayose in his usual manner had last week mischievously sought to douse public anger against him over unpaid salaries by storming Irona area of the state capital, distributing rice and N200 to the people, as workers paralysed government offices over unpaid salaries. But as Fayose went from one spot in the state capital to the other to dash out rice, discontent grew among state workers, who insisted that the governor was being wicked and selfish in taking allocations for five months but refused to pay workers for the same period while always paying himself N250m personal security vote and another N250m as monthly government's running cost and now he is distributing rice to the people to forget their sorrows. As Ado residents scorned the governor, he opted for senatorial visits armed with concocted state's financial statements to deceive the people. Part of his strategies was to widen the distribution of rice out of the state capital, choosing Are-Ekiti as the starting point. Leading Fayose's rice distribution party in Are-Ekiti was the son-of-the-soil, the governor's Chief of Staff, Chief Dipo Anisulowo. News had gone to the people that their son was coming to the town leading the rice distribution team that would put smiles on the faces of people in the throe of hunger over unpaid salaries and mass unemployment. As they drove to the centre of the town where people were already waiting, Anisulowo saw the people that he thought had come to solidarise with him and his boss. He was shocked when the people started throwing stones, sticks and other objects at the vehicles in which Fayose's men came. The mini-bus carrying the consignments was severely damaged. Another Hilux van was smashed while Anisulowo's vehicle was also damaged. Amid hale of stone-throwing and curses, Fayose's men scurried out of the town as the people in hot pursuit chased them out of the town. Attempts to arrest suspects in the incident have so far failed, as Anisulowo realised that he had lost ground in his home town. He has since abandoned his planned arrest of suspects, preferring begging the people of the community that insist that the governor should pay workers' salaries instead of deceiving them with a kongo of rice and N200.

100 militants invade Ogun community, kill 15 The Imushin community in the Ogijo area of Ogun State has been thrown into mourning after no fewer than 15 residents were reportedly killed on Friday evening by armed men suspected to be militants. SUNDAY PUNCH learnt that about 100 militants, armed with guns and cutlasses, stormed the community around 11pm on Friday and embarked on a killing spree, killing every resident in sight. When our correspondent visited the community on Saturday, he saw a few of the corpses which their families were preparing for burial in accordance with Islamic rites. Among the 15 killed was a technician, Waheed Buhari, aka Yah Alau, who was shot dead in front of his room. One of his children, Mariam, sustained bullet wounds. A travel agent, Mr. Oladele Ogundare, was said to be returning home in his car, when the rampaging militants opened fire on his car and killed him. Another resident, Umoru, who was said to be eating noodles, was chased, hacked and shot to death, along with a friend, Danladi. A mosque in the community, was reportedly attacked and a Muslim cleric killed. Two hotels were said to have also been raided and their customers robbed and injured. More than 25 shops in the community were looted by the militants. Many of the residents, who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH, begged not to be identified as the militants had threatened to return to continue the killing. A resident told our correspondent the militants were suspected to be Ijaw youths involved in pipeline vandalism. She explained that they were on a revenge mission as some operatives of the State Anti-Robbery Squad had killed two of the vandals earlier on Friday. She said, “The whole thing began around 4pm on Friday. I was at the backyard of the hotel, cutting some weed when some SARS officers came in. They were shooting and ordering people to stop moving. There was confusion in the hotel. “The SARS officials did not leave until after three hours. They killed two of the vandals and took away the owner of the hotel, a woman. “Around 10pm, I went to urinate when I saw so many hoodlums coming from the waterside down the road. They carried sophisticated weapons and when they got here, they started shooting. They blew off the hotel windows and shot people dead. They killed two men here in Lapete village.” A friend of Waheed, the electrician killed in Oke Muti, said the Ilorin, Kwara State indigene had tried to shut his door when the militants killed him. Waheed’s corpse was still lying in a room and being prepared for burial when SUNDAY PUNCH visited. His friend said, “He was going to urinate when the militants started firing. He tried to quickly shut his door, but it did not jam. They opened fire on him at the door step and did not stop until he dropped dead. “Not satisfied, they entered his room and sprayed everywhere with bullets. Waheed’s child, Mariam, that was in the room was hit. She is still at the hospital.” He added that the police recovered 15 corpses in the community. The widow of the travel agent killed in the Ereko area of the community said her husband, Oladele, who worked on Victoria Island, Lagos State, had left for work in his car on Friday morning without any foreboding. She said, “He gave me money for foodstuffs after dropping me off in front of a bank where I wanted to do a transaction. By 6pm, we spoke and he asked me to prepare rice for him that night. “By 10pm, I called his line; it rang and he didn’t pick. I tried it again at 12am, still no response. I called his mother by 6am that I had not been able to reach him on his two telephone lines and she promised to call as well. She also couldn’t get to him. “It was this morning (Saturday) that I saw a crowd of people in my house. They said he was a short distance from home when he was shot dead. I can’t believe this because we have barely spent a year in this community and this has never happened before.” Some customers at the Catcher Hotel were lucky to have escaped with their lives. However, the hoodlums carted away all the valuables in the hotel and vandalised all the electronic gadgets. A soldier, who was not in uniform at the time of the attack, said the vandals cut him with a cutlass and smashed bottles on his head. He said, “I had entered the beer parlour in the hotel when the militants came in. They were about 200. At first, I thought they were having a festival until they ordered all of us to lie flat on the ground. “They asked for my two phones and when I gave them one, they became angry. One of them cut my head with a machete and followed it with a bottle. I was drenched in blood. The militants had sophisticated weapons that I had never seen before. “They never asked for money from me and they didn’t search my pocket. If they did, they could have found my ID card and I would have been dead. I wore just a white shirt.” A disc jockey at the hotel said one of the militants wanted to shoot him dead, but one of them persuaded him against it. “They were arguing among themselves whether or not to kill me. One said, ‘If you don’t want me to kill him, then let me cut off his leg.’ But his colleague asked him not to. Before I knew it, he had smashed three bottles on my head. “They went away with my laptop, phones, money and everything I had. They refused to carry away the beers in the hotel. They took only the hard drinks,” he said. Women in the hotel, who claimed that the militants spent about 30 minutes, said they tortured them with cutlasses and guns. Efforts to speak with community leaders were abortive as they declined comment. It was gathered that a community leader had been abducted by the militants a few months ago, after reporting a case against them at a station. A source said, “The man was in the creek for 40 days. The militants collected N10m from the community before he was released. That is why everybody is afraid to talk. People have started fleeing the community. Two Hausas were killed during this attack and the Hausa community has vowed to fight back.” A man, who spoke for the Imushin community, pleaded with the government to intervene before the community was completely deserted. He said, “These people are militants and even the police cannot withstand their firepower. We need help from the government. We will appreciate anything they can do for us.” The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the attack, but said only three people were killed. He said, “Around 11pm at Ereko Community, Ogijo, some hoodlums numbering about 100 invaded the community and started shooting sporadically. Bullets hit one Waheed Buhari and his daughter, Mariam. While Buhari died, the daughter is still at the hospital. Two other unidentified corpses were found, making a total of three deaths. “Information from eyewitnesses showed that the hoodlums were militants and they came from the riverine area. But we have not confirmed this, as investigations are ongoing. We are particularly interested in why they came in such a large number.”

PDP crisis: Exparte order has expired, court rules … to deliver judgment on July 4 Justice Mahmud Liman of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital today upheld the argument of the lead counsel to the embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ali Modu Sheriff and National Secretary, Prof. Adewale Oladipo that the exparte order given in favour of the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee has elapsed. He took the position following the submission of the lead counsel to the plaintiff, Oladejo Olamikonra (SAN) that application to discharge the exparte order was incompetent. The judge held that while it is true that the application to discharge the exparte order had been overtaken by events, it was competent. In one of three applications filed before the court in opposition to the suit, Sheriff and Oladipo had urged the court to discharge the exparte order because, according to them, it was obtained by deceit and suppression of material facts. The application was filed on the 26th of May, 2016. According to the rules of the court, an exparte order automatically elapses either upon its discharge by the court or 14 days after the application to discharge it is filed. In this case, the application to discharge the exparte order having been filed on the 26th of May, 2016, the order automatically lapsed on the 9th of June, 2016. That was why when the plaintiff’s counsel, Olamikonra (SAN) argued today that the application to discharge the order was incompetent, the upheld the arguments of the defence counsel that it was competent. Meanwhile this happened just as the court adjourned till July 4, for judgment on the matter brought before him by the members of the National Caretaker Committee on behalf of the PDP on issues relating to the National Convention of the party held in Port Harcourt on the 21st of May, 2016. The Party held parallel National conventions in Port Harcourt and Abuja. While the Acting National Chairman, Ali Modu-Sheriff convened that of Port Harcourt, the Party’s Elders organised the Abuja meeting. They were to elect their new executives in the convention. The conventions however ended in deadlock. Instead of electing new leaders, the convention produced National Caretaker Committee headed by Senator Markafi, to the chagrin of Senator Sheriff who vowed never to relinquish his office. He maintained that he remains the Acting chairman of the Party. The newly appointed Caretaker Committee approached the Court on May 23 to seek an exparte order to stop Sheriff from parading himself as the National chairman of PDP. It is also asking the court to validate the Port Harcourt convention which produced the committee. Sheriff had shortly after the abandoning the Port Harcourt convention headed for the court in Abuja to challenge the legality of the Port Harcourt convention which produced Markafi, hinging on a purported order by the Abuja conveners to stop that of Port Harcourt. Justice Liman granted the exparte order, and adjourned the matter till June 7, for hearing. On June 7, when the matter came up, the plaintiff counsel sought an adjournment to enable him reply the processes parties filed by the defence counsel. The matter was then adjourned to today for hearing. At the resumed hearing today, parties canvassed their positions and the court adjourned till July 4, 2016, for judgment. Four motions were filed and argued by both parties. While the plaintiffs, Senators Markafi and Ben Obi filed the originating summons on behalf of the PDP, Senator Modu-Sheriff and three others, who are the respondents in the suit, filed three applications. They included a motion to discharge the exparte order; notice of preliminary objection and a motion to dismiss the suit, all dated and filed May 26, 2016. Three of the motions were heard together. On the motion seeking to discharge the exparte order, the court agreed that the timeline of 14 days for an exparte order has ended and should therefore not be over flogged. However, arguing on the originating summons, which bordered on the validity of the Port Harcourt convention and the agreements reached there, counsel for the Plaintiffs, Olaminkoran (SAN) urged the court to declare the convention legal, as against the contention of the defence counsel, Oluyede. In his argument, Olaminkoran claimed that the convention was legally convened and by the right persons empowered by the Party constitution to do so and therefore should be upheld. “One of the reasons we have come to court is that only the court of law can declare a particular action as legal or illegal. But, the position of the PDP is that the convention was lawful, legal, backed by the PDP convention and was convened by the body that is constitutionally empowered to call such convention, the National Executive Committee of the party which included at that time Sheriff and who was the Acting National Chairman and the National Party Secretary, who are the main respondent in this suit,” he said. Moving his motion earlier, lead counsel to Modu-Sheriff and Oladipo, Olueyede urged the court to strike the name of PDP as plaintiffs in the action, thereby dismissing the entire suit. He argued that the use of the name of PDP, a corporate entity in the suit by Senators Makarfi and Ben. Obi, who are the plaintiffs in the suit, is illegal. “The reason for the submission is because, the use of the PDP corporate entity as a plaintiff to commence this action by Senators Makarfi and Ben Obi is predicated on the illegal usurpation of the functions of the appropriate organs of the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, which they claim to lead. The Caretaker Committee is an illegal contraction set up by their own admission on May 21, 2016 in defiance of express prohibitory orders of this honourable court, made respectively in suit numbers, FHC/CS/L/ 613/ 2016 and FHC/ CS/L/637/2016 on May 12 and 16, 2016, and by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), High Court judgment in suit number FCT/HC/1443/2016. “We also seek that the court make an order dismissing this action for reason of ex-facia illegality represented in the title of the action and their admission of those who are behind the use of the name of PDP as plaintiff in this action that their authority to represent the political party and to invoke its cooperate personality is contested and requires validation by this court’s orders, which they seek. “Also that this suit be dismissed by reason of ex-facia illegality as the right sought to enforce this action and the assumed personal rights of Senator Markafi and Ben Obi and other members of the Illegal CTC which they lead and not at all the corporate right of the PDP. “And finally, for such ancillary and consequential orders as this court may deem fit to make in the circumstances,” Oluyede said. He relied on the grounds of the applications, the affidavits and exhibits annexed in the processes and urged the court to grant his application and remove the name of PDP from the suit. Earlier, the plaintiff had insisted that the three processes be dismissed for incompetence, but the court overruled the position and upheld them. Justice Liman also upheld the application of the defence for an amendment, saying that striking out the processes on technical grounds would delay quick determination of the suit. The court further held that, “In a case where no application is filed to set aside the irregularity or was not filed timeously, the court might view the party to have waived his right to complain. “Where however an application to set aside have been properly filed, the court has a range of options in the exercise of his discretion either to set aside the process, wholly or partially or the order amendment, subject to the cause of amendment. “In the instant case, the Plaintiff has not shown what prejudice it will suffer if the motion to amend the defect is granted; more so that this being a political case in which a major political party is battling with its life, which calls for conscientious efforts to address the legal conflict expeditiously. “I think to strike out the processes filed will roll back the entire proceedings to the beginning, and this will signal the triumph of technicality and tragic expense of substantial justice. “In the like of the above analysis, I dismiss the motion to strike out the three processes filed and grant the application for amendment.” |
OGUN PDP PRESS RELEASE: INTERIM IMPLICATIONS AND ECHOES OF TODAY'S SUSPENDED NATIONAL CONVENTION OF THE PDP The great members of the PDP and good people of Ogun state, the national convention of our party which was supposed to hold today 21/05/2016 has been postponed and nothing else was added. Arising from this news, a section of our party members that have been posing to be the legitimate executives and delegates from Ogun state have been celebrating a "purported victory" which to all intent and purpose is delusional, infantile and akin to a drowning person clutching to a straw for survival. It will be recalled that a competent court had pronounced that election must not be held for the positions of National Chairman, National Secretary and National Auditor for which INEC complied and wrote the party. The party, the convention committee and the PDP governors acknowledged this and agreed to move ahead with the Port Harcourt convention of today. So what changed and brought about the debacle of today? What we witnessed today is a situation whereby a few governors want to constitute themselves as being equal to the party, lording their wishes. Whereas, the constitution of our party has no roles for them. In view of the fact that many illegitimate delegates (like ogun state among others) had found their way into the ground coupled with the fact that some governors led by Fayose had ulterior agenda, the NWC/NEC met overnight all through this morning and concluded to postpone the Congress due to litigations, the other gathering in Abuja and the factors stated above. While this may seem a plausible move to douse tension and buy some time to resolve contending issues before a new date is announced, some governors met again to announce a caretaker committee. This is illegal and alien to our party as the governors have no locus to announce such a committee, moreso the courts have stated that status quo be maintained, which means Sheriff and others shall continue to act. Now some people are celebrating this subterfuge that won't stand as their folly will be made obvious in coming days. ON THE DELEGATES FROM OGUN STATE: It is laughable that the dissident group from Ogun state and its impostor executives/delegates are celebrating "victory because the got " tags" and gained dubious entrance into the venue. Let it be stated emphatically that the Engr. Adebayo Dayo-led executives and delegates remain the authentic persons eligible to participate in today's process. We recall that Engr. Bayo Dayo attended the last NEC meeting and was duly recognised but what changed today? Nothing changed just that the erratic and brutish Ayodele Fayose again bared his fang which is now constant with his ludicrous and irascible personality. While our delegates were awaiting accreditation and entrance, Fayose who is still smarting from the defeat in his state and the southwest, forcefully hijacked the tags from Nyesom Wike and gave it to Ladi Adebutu and in the process also harassed our people. Pray therefore, how is this a victory for the dissident group? Putting original tags on fake people can never make them legitimate, moreso, nothing has altered the status quo as it relates to the state congress which remain valid In coming days, the outcomes of today's multiple treachery will be evident to all. It is also pertinent to state that there are no winners or losers in this process. The law is still prevailing and order shall be restored. We urge every member of the party in Ogun state to have this interim understanding of what transpired today. Nobody has been defeated and nobody has won anything. There is nothing like caretaker committee as the Ali Modu Sheriff executive remain intact. The executive in Ogun under Engr. Adebayo Dayo is still in charge and our delegates remain intact to do their job at the rescheduled date. Signed : Adeniji Bolaji State Publicity Secretary, Ogun PDP. |
