THOSE working in the Delta State Government House, Asaba, Thursday scampered for safety, following the appearance of an Owl in one of the offices. The owl, according to a reliable source, perched on a table in the office when the office was opened by a lady working there, adding that the lady (name withheld) who was gripped with fear raised alarm which attracted others who were just trying to settle down for the day’s job at about 8 am.

The source, who pleaded anonymity, said the owl was flogged to death and set ablaze by the workers who saw its appearance as a sign of bad omen. He added that songs of praises and worship were sung to adore the Almighty God for the few persons who picked up courage and moved against the strange bird.

Speaking further, the source said another lady (name withheld) who is also working in the Government House rushed in few minutes later and threatened that at least five persons would be killed to avenge the death of the owl, which she claimed to be hers. Disclosing that the said lady hails from one of the villages in Okpe, the source said; “We have decided to leave her for God.”

Whatever evil she planned to wreck in the office with the owl, would revert to her.” Effort made to reach the lady who claimed ownership of the owl proved abortive at press time. However, a source close to her, said “She was just joking; nobody can claim ownership of an owl.
“Do you really think anybody in his or her right senses will come out publicly to claim ownership of an owl and also threaten to kill five persons to avenge its death? It was a mere joke and that issue has been handled and settled, the source said, adding “We killed the owl, burnt it while drawing power from God Almighty who is the maker of the heaven and earth. And we joined our faiths together in setting the strange owl ablaze.

“Whatever evil plan it was meant to wreck in our office has been returned to the sender. We are untouchable”. As at the time of filing this report, effort was still being made to reach the lady whose office the owl was found for comment on the matter. According to an online dictionary, an Owl is a nocturnal bird of prey that kills other creatures for food: appearing traditionally as warnings of doom and as symbol of wisdom.

You are not getting the point Igboson is making, please re-read his text. Do not get it twisted! Obiano is a technocrat and a chartered accountant of an international standing so he knows how best to approach financial matters, infrastructural funds and how to secure the capital resources. Also as a former bank (ED) he is in the best position to know better than most of us here even the so called advisers on financial matters and how best to go about it.

If loan could be sourced to finance major capital projects for greater economic good then it is very much okay! The loan in question is a far cry as against a particular SE governor who has incurred over 200billion in debts but we are still using microscope to search for the projects executed with such funds prompting the CBN to ban the state from further borrowing because they lack the economic capacity and IGR to repay if they continue on the path of borrowing.

Since Obiano is working on major capital infrastructures that will consolidate the place of the state as a frontline state and further expand the economic gains of the state, then it is advisable that he source some funds to augment the saved funds. Bearing in mind that the IGR of Anambra has been on a steady rise in the last few months. As at last month it was over 1billion and it is expected to rise to over 3billion in the next 1year. So borrowing in itself is not bad but the capacity to repay and with the rising Anambra IGR the state is good to go. Obiano is very focused and committed to deliver and he is delivering already.

Bro,i know that project and development is a good thing to behold but it s disheartening if the state's federal allocation is small and the govnor went into borrowing to meet up with expectation and demoralised the economy and the people. .
with huge debt of 23,000million dollar for the past 6mnth outlay, it means that in the future,our beloved governor,willie obiano,will find it difficult to pay the anambrarians civil servants just like what s happening in imo, ekiti or osun state.
