Politics › Re: This Is How Ambode Wants To Solve Traffic Problem In Lagos by onlykach: 9:13am On Jul 02, 2015 |
zilokontah: Simply put...the Governor has no real solution to the Lagos problem. The problem is not the information management system, but the real lack of alternatives for the commuters. The main artery to Lagos Island is via Eko Bridge and the Third mainland bridge.
This is reasonably deficient given the number of commuters.
The solution is an integrated transportation mix like the one pursued by the last administration of water ways, rail and more road network and decongesting alternatives like the Ikoyi-Lekki bridge.
Invest massively in the infrasture for water transport with highly powered sea transporting ships. Such that we have similar terminal like the ones being constructed for the rail at Badagry, Apapa, CMS, Ajah, Ikorodu and Epe.
Turn these point to meagre Bust terminal or nodes with terminating Bus/train/water network using same terminal but three floors to serve the many individuals.
The rail should be rigorously pursued to completion such that it should come on stream this year.
Invest massively in new road infrasture, with bridges transversing the Lagos Lagoon with nodes in
Ikorodu---------------------Ajah without going through the city. Mainland------------------ Epe with sub artery to Ikoyi, VI, Lagos Island,Epe and Ajah without going through the existing road. Apapa-------------------- Satellite Town, Ojo, Okokomaiko artery. Another decongesting bridge for Oshodi----------------------Ikorodu Road, Oshodi-mile 2 road, Anthony-oworonshoki axis.
Lastly decongesting bridges at Lekki-Ajah-Badore roundabout On point |

miteolu: Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode has set his sights on drastically reducing the traffic problem bedeviling the State by introducing a world class traffic information and management system.
The globally tested traffic system which has worked for many cities similar to Lagos may have caught the eye of the Governor who wants to see Lagosians spend less hours in traffic and more in their offices and at work, according to the State government.
Investigations have revealed that in the next couple of weeks, the governor will work with some experts to design a system that fits the Lagos traffic pattern.
Lagos is home to some of the worst traffic congestion in the world. Traffic congestion is a daily challenge in the metropolis with highly undesirable socioeconomic and environmental effects, increasing stress and pollution levels and reducing overall productivity. There is an urgency to decongest perennial traffic spots like the Third Mainland Bridge, Abule Egba, Apapa, Ojota and Dopemu.
The State says it will introduce a world class traffic information and management system. A smart network comprising of hundreds of cameras, road sensors and electronic displays have been specially designed to collect and deliver real time information to city commuters that will help regulate traffic.
Highly visible displays and a mobile phone application will flag highly congested hotspots, suggest alternative routes and estimate arrival times – all in real time, according to the traffic management blueprint.
The State government says it realises that information is power and is set to empower Lagosians with more traffic information ahead of time.
Ambode has also said he is confident of reducing the time spent in traffic, drastically improve each commuter’s quality of life and improve the city’s productivity as a whole. The Governor avers that in big cities of the world, traffic information systems have helped improve traffic flow to a large percentage.
Since he took over the reins, Gov Ambode has spent more time trying to solve the Apapa traffic conundrum and other traffic related problems in Lagos.
http://www.native9ja.com/ambode-traffic-problem-in-lagos/ This may work but ..... ask the Lagos State Governor how much is this project because i assure you that better mony go miss road here ooooooooo...... For cry out loud why do you need camera whre you dont have light. why cant he result to light rails or water way transport NO LIGHT SO DO NOT INTRODUCE CAMERAS PLEASE WASTE OF FINANCIAL RESOURCES Give the money you will waste to OSun state to pay there back logs of salaries |

jseak: Good days return for Kogi journalists as Governor Wada is said to have on Tuesday 30th June, hosted Journalists to Break Ramadan fast with him at the states government house. The agenda behind this sudden recognition being accorded to journalists in the state is well known.
What's more disturbing in the pictures is why they had to form a line behind the governor...

No one talks about him again so I guess this is his way of getting his name back in the media why do you hate Fayose... at least he is better than Aregbesola that is owing 11 month and consider to pay only two months first... I think Aregbesola is harsh. Have you ever earn a salary and if yes have you been owed up to six months? |

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/06/breaking-news-inauguration-of-8th-assembly-postponed/ This is a shame to democracy in Nigeria fro the house of senate, PDP handedover preacefully to APC on the presidential front but APC conduct a common inauguratin of the 8th assembly.... kia!!! I am sure APC is aware there will be no child voters or underage voting.... All parties should ake up and note. The men in the Senate are not kids and APC Executives should stay away from Legislative duties and not prempt what they can not finish. Reporting from the NASS |

shizzle11: I hate the man saraki with passion, but I prefer him to any stooge handpicked by tifnubu.
Nigeria is damn to big for one frog eyed kleptomaniac to decide who takes what. Besides this is politics. What is playing out now is healthy for our politics where there are no permanent friends, hopefully the discord between sarai and tifnubu will lead to more exposures of APC shenanigans and deceit and ultimately lead in discontent among many APC members and ULTIMATELY depletion of its members.
My point is: what is playing out now will be to the benefit of the PDP. Just keep calm and enjoy the show.
sai dogara! sai saraki The truth of the matter is I like the strategic positioning of PDP it will make Nigeria politically thick.... I pray to God to provide us today a Senate president that will represent the interest of all Nigerians |
