APC in Ekiti State has challenged Governor Ayodele Fayose to declare his assets like his predecessor, Governor Kayode Fayemi, who publicly declared his assets to the applause of Ekiti people.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement in Ado Ekiti yesterday, said that the call became imperative following the insinuations that the state’s resources were allegedly being channeled towards private enterprises outside the state by the governor 10 months after its earlier call.
He said, “The governor must seize the opportunity of declaring his assets to douse speculations of his alleged funneling of the state’s resources to his private enterprises abroad.
“It is curious that he has not abused President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo after they declared their assets. Fayose’s loud silence on the President in this case is curious because the governor has never seen anything good in whatever the President does,” Olatunbosun said.
Responding, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi said,
“We won’t react, let them tell us how many APC governors have openly declared their assets. Did you read yesterday’s papers on governors’ position on asset declaration? That is it, tell others.
APC has 23 governors, how many have openly declared their assets? The lead story of Vanguard yesterday on assets declaration said it all. The position of the governor is that no reaction. Let their party show the lead by making their 23 state governors declare their assets operated.

This is beyond WICKEDNESS. The only thing the police IG can do to say he isn’t in support of this or this will never be tolerated in the Nigerian Police Force is for this man to be dismissed and prosecuted. Sometimes things like this needs to be done so that it never repeats itself and so that others can learn from it. Being a police man does not make you superior than other citizens. Internet bloggers and Armageddon conspiracists are predicting the "end of days" event to happen between September 22 to 28.

One blogger has worryingly suggested US residents retain their firearms after suggesting that the controversial military operation Jade Helm taking place between July and September in several southern states is in preparation for predicted anarchy that could ensue as the asteroid nears the planet.

Meanwhile, many fringe religious groups and Biblical theorists are claiming the predicted impact will herald the beginning of the Rapture - a seven-year tribulation period.

There have been so many online posts and viewings that NASA experts saw fit to put out a retraction reassuring people no large object is expected to hit the planet for "several hundred years".

Others seem convinced that the meteorite's arrival will somehow be caused by a gravitational mishap during tests currently being carried out by the Large Hadron Collider - miles of tunnels where scientists are smashing atoms to try to discover a parallel universe.

The LHC is located 175 metres under the French-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland.

It is accepted by scientist that the LHC, operated by CERN, could cause a black hole to form, but there has been no suggestion it could affect the movement of asteroids in space, yet this has not deterred Nostradamus style predictors.

But one blogger suggested the LHC was a much more sinister machine, stating: "The CERN logo is 666 - the sign of the beast - in a circle.

"The CERN collider looks like the all-seeing eye or stargaze we see so much of."

One of the more alarming theories is in a post on the Whistleblower800 website, which claims to lift the lid on government corruption.

The writer claims to have cracked the reason for the controversial Jade Helm military exercise taking place from next month across Texas Utah and southern California.

Conspiracy theorists are predicting a cataclysmic event which will destroy civilisation - because of the looming blood moon and a prophesied meteor strike.

End-of-time cranks on various blogs and websites have come up with the period between September 22-28 as the likely time frame for the impending catastrophe.

On September 28th we will see the moon turn an incredible blood colour - and some think the end of days will arrive with it.

However, Gemma Lavender, features editor for All About Space magazine, urges calm.

She told the Liverpool Echo: “There are claims that, with the moon getting closer to Earth, that there is an increased risk of events such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions - this is false."

“With the moon being closer to us than usual, and provided you have a clear night, observers should take advantage of the moon’s stunning lunar seas along with its beautiful craters and mountains, which can be observed with binoculars or a telescope," she continued.

A missing Bauchi plane has been found in morocco, the State Governor, Mohammed Abubakar has said. He disclosed that the State’s Public Property Recovery Committee discovered an aircraft belonging to the state which is hidden in Morocco.

He stated this on Saturday night in Bauchi in a broadcast marking 100 days of his administration.

He however did not substantiate further on the aircraft, but said the plane would be received by the state government in a few days at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport, Bauchi.

An unidentified Nigerian woman, three Canadians and a Pakistani are among at least 10 people that lost their lives in a fire outbreak that engulfed parts of a residential compound rented by oil giant Saudi Aramco, in Saudia Arabia yesterday August 30th. According to a statement the Saudi Arabian government, 10 people died while 259 were injured.


A preliminary investigation suggests a short circuit in an electrical transformer in the building's basement sparked the blaze which quickly spread through 130 cars parked in the basement.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Related Offences Tribunal has commenced a clampdown on very wealthy civil servants.

Already, the agency has seized 24 property and several cars from three civil servants with one of them having 18 property.

A document obtained from the Office of the Chairman of the ICPC, Mr. Ekpo Nta, with the title ‘Notice of Seizure of Movable and Immovable Properties Pursuant to Section 45 (4) a – (b) of the Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Ac 2000, revealed that the commission seized the property from three officials of the Ministry of Niger Delta.

It stated that the property was seized because they were “excessive of the emoluments of the affected officers.”

Although the document, dated August 11, 2015, is silent on the status of the officials, it was gathered that the three officials are all principal account officers of the ministry, which has been one of the focuses of investigations by the ICPC in recent times.

The Niger Delta ministry officers listed in the document are Poloma Kabiru Nuhu, Mangset Longyl Dickson and Daniel Obah.

The ICPC boss said the decision to seize the property would be served on the appropriate Land Registries and Departments in all the states where the property are situated.

He stated, “The commission is investigating a matter involving some staff (members) of the Niger Delta Ministry, with certain movable and immovable property owned by the said staff.

“The commission is of the opinion based on the aforementioned investigation that these movable and immovable property owned by these people who are staff of the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs are excessive, having regards to their present emoluments and all other relevant circumstances. The commission hereby notifies the entire public that all movable and immovable properties owned by these staff (members) and listed hereunder are seized.”

According to the ICPC boss, one of the officers, Nuhu, has 10 hectares of land, covered by Right of Occupancy at Kuje valued at N50m.

It was stated that the same officer has an uncompleted duplex at Diamond Estate, Apo, Abuja, that is worth N90m.

Nta also said Nuhu has 16 plots of land which are all covered by Certificate of Occupancy in different parts of Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Another civil servant on the ICPC list, Dickson, is said to have a plot of land at Kubwa District, Cadastral Zone, Abuja. The property is valued at N7m.

The third official, Obah, is said to own different plots of land in Abuja and Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Nta said Obah has a four-bedroom duplex at Karsana South District, Abuja, valued at N60m.

He is also said to have a plot of land at Ozuoba, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Other plots of land said to belong to Obah are located in Umuodili Odubo Community in Rivers that is worth N16.5m; Olipobo Rumuekini Layout, Obio Akpor Local Government Area valued at N18m and another plot at Livingstone Estate Umuogodo, Igbo Etche in Obio Akpor Local Government of the Rivers State

Students of the Federal College of Agriculture, Moore Plantation, Apata, Ibadan, took to Ibadan-Abeokuta expressway the road which their school is located to protest the death of one of their students who was knocked down at the front of the school gate by a learner. According to the students, one of them, simply known as Aminu was knocked down by a learner yesterday as he attempted to cross the express road.

He will be the 3rd student to die this week as two people were earlier knocked down during the week. Stop killing us, the students told motorists, as they were forced to park and wind down to hear them.

We learnt Aminu made it to the hospital alive, but a major surgery was meant to be carried out on him which will eventually cost N1.5m, but sadly he passed on early hours of this morning and students took to the express way to demonstrate their anger. A lot of motorists were also asked to turn back as they blocked the road with burning tyres, planks and other heavy objects.

Threat letters purportedly written by boko haram have been found in in Sabon Gari village of Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State.

A local vigilante in Sabon Gari village said that threat letters warning villagers to wake up and join force with the insurgents to fight ‘Holy War’ against ‘Infidels’ or face more attacks was found at the scene of the explosion that killed over 50 people on a market day on Tuesday at Sabon Gari.

Wakil Modu, a vigilante member who spoke to journalists said, the threat letter purportedly written in ‘Hausa’ by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram urged the people that, fighting the cause of Allah is a holy business, which all who believe must wake up to join in the blessing of hereafter.

I like this....Uganda’s Supreme Court ruled Thursday that refunding of goods paid to a bride’s family after divorce was illegal, sparking celebration by rights groups who said women would no longer be “chained in violent relationships”.


In Uganda, as in many nations, the custom of the groom or his family paying a sum of money or property known as a “bride price” — to the parents of the bride upon a marriage has a long tradition.
Bride prices are payments made from the groom’s family to the bride’s — the opposite of dowries paid in some countries, where the bride hands goods over to the man.
The Supreme Court ruled that refunding it upon dissolution of a customary marriage was unconstitutional, after local women’s rights group Mifumi launched an appeal following an earlier court decision, arguing the practice contributed to domestic violence.
“Refunding compromises the dignity of the woman,” Chief Justice Bart Katureebe said, according to the Daily Monitor newspaper, adding that paying a dowry back implied a woman was in a marriage as though on “loan”.
Mifumi said the judge’s decision was a “landmark in the history of Uganda” that meant women were “now free to walk out of an abusive relationship without fear” of how their family would pay back the bride price

Nigeria - Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has sacked all his Special Assistants (SAs) and Senior Special Assistants (SSAs).

Mr Eni Akinsola, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor made the announcement in a statement issued to newsmen in Akure.

While soliciting their continued support for his administration, Mimiko said the action had become necessary in view of the restructuring and repositioning currently being undertaken by government for better service delivery.

“I can only thank you for your services to the government and people of Ondo State who elected us for the delivery of sundry democratic dividends.

“I appreciate your selflessness and dedication and wish you well in your future endeavours,” the statement quoted the governr as saying.

Few weeks after Nollywood actor, Hanks Anuku, was arrested in Ghana while shooting a movie titled ‘Night Scenes in Ghana,’ he was involved in an accident.

The actor collided with a moving taxi while on his motorbike.

The taxi driver who was questioned later alleged that it was the actors fault as he was on high speed and then hit the side of his car.

However, Hanks disclaimed been at fault, but was so interested in fixing his bike.

“Some guy just appeared from nowhere, but I’m not dead, I just need to fix my bike and he has to go wherever he has to, that’s [his] business,” he said.
