As expected, Nyesom Wike, the former Minister of State for Education has won the PDP governorship primaries in a contest boycotted by 16 aggrieved gubernatorial contestants of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. The election held at the Community Girls Secondary School, Mile 3, Port Harcourt had Wike as favourite.

In his acceptance speech, Wike said he dedicated the victory to Almighty God and the delegates who reposed confidence in him to fly the party flag in the state.

The venue of the primaries well secured by the Rivers Police Command and the anti-bomb squad.

Wike, Ben Dimkpa, Emmanuel Georgwill and Senator Lee Maeba were the only aspirants present at the venue.

The 16 governorship aspirants who have been agitating against the emergence of Wike are all insisting the party has been hijacked by members of Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI, who are footsoldiers of Wike, their sponsor and patron.

Speaking on behalf of other aggrieved aspirants, former governor of Rivers state, Pawariso Samuel Horsfall said “Everything about the governorships primaries was flawed, from the delegate election and to today’s primaries.

“I have never seen where governorship primary of a national party is held in the bedroom of a particular aspirant,a community school”

In a similar vein, another aspirant, Dumo Lulu-Briggs has described the primary as sham exercise as no other aspirant except Wike, knew the delegates who were reposed with the power to vote.

On the eve of the governorship primaries, Chief Albert Samuel Horsfall, former Direct-General of the State Security Service, SSS had cautioned other aggrieved aspirants not to boycott the primaries or employ violence to pursue their political struggle.

Meanwhile, it was learnt the Peter Odili was also at the venue.

In his first official reaction, the chairman of Rivers state chapter of PDP, Felix Obuah congratulated all delegates and members of the party for a peaceful governorship primary in the state.

Impressed by the large turn-out for the primary election and orderly conduct by both delegates and aspirants, Obuah said the party has once more asserted its readiness and unity of purpose for the crucial 2015 general elections in the state.

The chairman also wishes to state that the victory achieved so far is only a stepping stone to the final battle and therefore calls for all hands to be on deck for the final victory.

Obuah who was silent on the boycott of the exercise by other aggrieved aspirants, congratulated Wike for winning the governorship ticket of the PDP and wished him a smooth successful victory in the governorship election proper.

According to reports, a Nigerian female musician by the name of Faycol (Feyitayo Oyetade) has died.

The Ogun state artist died on baby boy's naming ceremony on Tuesday, October 14, 2014.

She reportedly slumped in her bathroom shortly before the naming ceremony. By the time medical intervention got to her, she had passed away.

Faycol was buried on Wednesday in Sagamu town, Ogun State.

Faycol was 25 and got married to her manager earlier this year.

A clash between Cameroonian troops and Boko Haram militants has left eight soldiers and 107 of the terrorists dead, military officials have revealed.

Cameroon’s defence ministry reportedly disclosed this today, October 17, in a statement read on state radio.

Cameroon has suffered from Boko Haram attacks largely due to its expansive border with Nigeria and President Paul Biya has promised to wipe out the sect.

This comes after the Nigerian government reached a ceasefire agreement with the sect after negotiations in Saudi Arabia to broker peace and the release of the over 200 abducted Chibok girls.

The popular Madam Tinubu Hall, MTH, was gutted by fire in the early hours of today after a student used a hot plate to cook and put it under her bed without totally putting out the heat. The fire started from the room and spread to other rooms but thankfully no student was killed. A few of them were however injured when they tried to jump from their windows to escape the fire.

The saddest part of it all was that students had to resort to using pure water to put the fire because there was no water in the hostel. Quite sad!

A very long snake has crawled out from a bush at Gwarimpa. Passer-by’s found it and after watching it for a while found out it may be too ‘weak’ because it never attempted to fight, so they moved towards the animal and started taking pictures.

A Nigerian army colonel has been arrested along with some junior officers, for sabotaging the country’s military offensive against Boko haram jihadists in the North east, confirming Chief of Defence Staff theory of the existence of fifth columnists within the military.

The colonel, a muslim, who is yet to be identified, was Commanding a team of three Armoured Personnel Carriers, APC’s, and ground troops between Gulak and Madagali, when he committed the act of sabotage by ordering troops to set the APCs on fire.

There was no justifiable reason for the action as the APCs have the firing power of 1.5kilometres or even more, and they ought to have outgunned the poorly equipped Boko Haram terrorists approaching nearby in six Hilux vehicles.

With the APCs burnt, the officer reportedly led his men to escape into the bush.

Saturday Vanguard, which reported this story said the Army authorities were outraged over the development and ordered the arrest of both the commander, the junior officers as well as the soldiers under his command.

Military sources who spoke with the newspaper deemed the action ‘’embarrassing’’ and a setback to the military push in the area.

Until then, the paper repoted, “the Special Forces of the Nigerian Army who commenced the putsch to rout Boko Haram terrorists from Bazza, Michika, Gulak and Madagali from Vimtim, had successfully dealt with, and inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists up till Gulak”.

The Colonel was said to have been informed about the approaching Boko Haram militants.

“However, rather than blasting and taking out the terrorists in their pick-up vans; he ordered his soldiers to jump out of the APC’s and set the armoured tanks on fire, without realising that he was being monitored. This was shocking because the terrorists were armed with weaponry which were grossly inferior to the firepower of the Nigerian Army Amoured tanks. After accomplishing the sabotage act, the Colonel and the junior officers and soldiers ran away into the bush, claiming that they were overpowered by a better armed group of Boko Haram terrorists,’’ Saturday Vanguard said.

On Wednesday, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh, said there were “fifth columnists’’ in the armed forces leading to conflicting information emanating from the military.

Badeh made the allegation in Abuja, while reacting to some presentations at the start of a three-day workshop on “Security/Media Relations in Crisis Management’’.

“If your people are misleading you, what do you do? There are too many fifth columnists.

“There was a report which says oh, we have seen some of the Chibok girls, only eight are missing, it was a very senior officer that gave that information from Chibok area.

So something has been
going on for the past
couple of days that I
haven't reacted to

it play out and see how far these people will go.
They have gone far and
it's now time to react. The only reason this is
happening to me is
because I'm number
one...so I am flattered. I
am currently No.10 on
Alexa.com, more read than all the other news
sites in Nigeria, so I
understand why I am the
target. If I were them, I'd
hate me too...lol. So here's what's going
on. Sometime last year,
some guys decided it was
time to run me out of
business (duh, like you
can...lol). So they began to spam by blog. And
when your blog gets a
lot of spam, Google
(which hosts my site) can
take your blog down.
But instead of taking my blog down, Google took
my Adsense down for a
few months and
eventually re-instated it.
So they didn't succeed.
These same people started sending strange
emails to me...looking for
different ways to have
access to my blog. But I
wouldn't let them. If they
could, they would have hacked it, but they
couldn't so they
continued to look for
different ways to attack
my blog. Please
continue... In April 2014, these guys
decided to close down
the blog again. In the
emails they exchanged
back and forth, they said
'plagiarism is a good excuse to finish her'.
(they forget that if they
succeed in closing down
LIB because I'm on
blogger...I could easily
start a website). Now let me tell you who these
guys are. They are IT
people, security experts
who know how the
internet works. They are
hackers and cyber- squatters...and only go
after the biggest internet
setups. Immediately after I
shared photos of my
new SUV, these guys re-
connected again and
decided it was finally
time to end LIB because there were quite a few
people who were mad
that I bought the car and
they wanted to play on
their emotions. The head
of this team is a guy who goes by the name
@MrAyeDee on twitter.
They decided to use the
plagiarism card. He said it
was the strongest claim
to make and easiest way to get support from
other people. And then
the campaign started
with him claiming that I
took something from
him without crediting him or asking for
permission. 100% false.
If he owns a website,
I've never visited it. He
started by writing all
sorts to get people to notice...and then he
acted. Like I said these
guys are IT experts,
they know what to do to
get blogger/Google to
come after you. So he and his team started
filling several reports,
sending links of my blog
posts and making claims
to Google. Outrageous
false claims. And because Google acts first before
they contact the blog
owner, they took down
some posts and asked
me to file a counter claim
if I felt I had a right to re- publish those articles.
Now that my blog is
under Google review,
these guys have started
to spam it again. They want Google to
shut it down. That is
their aim. Will they
succeed? I sincerely don't
know. I'm not an IT
expert...I know they are spamming and filing
complaints, I don't know
what else they are doing
behind the scenes but
they are relentless. Now let me give you
