Phones / Konga Not Yet Perfect With Their Online Transactions by onoerime: 8:29am On Jul 29, 2016
Is no news that online trade in Nigeria is still under experimental stage if I want to rate it's performance. Don't get me wrong because I am taking out of experience.
Last week I decided to try online transactions with konga online marketing and the result was on the opposite. I actually ordered for an mobile phone car charger with 5v 2amp but got 5v 1amp. 5v 1amp is less than #500 in the market but I paid 2150naira for this same charger.
For me I don't think konga online trade is worth it when it comes to online transactions.

THE nullification of the electricity tariff structure has raised concerns that some Distribution Companies, DISCOs, may be forced to close shops and abandon their projects. The concerns came on the heels of a Federal High Court ruling on July 13, 2016, in Lagos, which proscribed the tariff structure used by the eleven DISCOs to bill their consumers. The Chief Executive Officer, Charity Aid and Development Foundation for Africa, CADFA, Mr. Patrick Tolani, told Vanguard that if the impasse is not resolved very quickly and the tariff is not increased in the next one year, many Discos may be forced to close shops and abandon their projects. He also said that this development portend serious danger to the financial institutions that made funds available to them to buy the companies at the onset.“That is a serious risk to the national economy. It is difficult to predict what the Federal Government might want to do to prevent such a time-bomb from exploding,” he said. Tolani also noted that the immediate consequence to consumers is that electricity supply will become less efficient and hours of outage will increase.

Politics / Should Looters Of Public Funds Get The Death Penalty? by onoerime: 7:58am On Jul 20, 2016
Elder statesmen and lawyers comment on whether or not treasury looters should get capital punishment

Yes, capital punishment is necessary. But that should depend on the level and degree of the offence. Some categories of corruption should carry the death sentence, if that is the only thing that can serve as deterrence. This is because selfishness has become extremely high. The level of selfishness is so high that if we do not take a desperate measure, the country will not move anywhere.

The punitive measures in our existing laws are not sufficient deterrence. So, capital punishment should be seriously considered and debated. It should be widely debated.

High-degree corrupt practices should attract capital punishment. For instance, somebody who steals a billion naira has done sufficient damage to Nigeria to warrant capital punishment. The stolen money could have been used to build hospitals, construct roads and purchase security equipment. Meanwhile, the absence of these facilities might have caused the death of many people.

People die on bad roads across the country daily because money budgeted for rehabilitation has been misappropriated. Such a misappropriation has a direct impact on the lives of the people. The impact of corruption should determine whether an individual found guilty should get the death penalty or not. –• • Baralabe Musa (A former Governor of old Kaduna State)

I would not want to comment on whether corruption should attract the death penalty because our problems are not the lack of laws in this country. One or two sentences cannot explain how deep we are in this problem (of corruption). It is a pity, but we pray. And we have to pray hard. I am involved in some organisations that are working at seeing how we can begin a change in the attitude of the people. We need to be more positive in nation-building.

What we are suffering is not as a result of lack of laws. We are suffering from a situation where people know what is right but look the other way when they are transgressing. My concern is how to get everybody to be committed to attitudinal change. People should not be only concerned about their selfish interests.

Nobody under 50 has met this country in good order. Those who were born after 1966 have heard nothing edifying about this country. All the things they have heard have been terrible. We need to get a critical mass to begin to key into the efforts to change the attitude of the people.- • Philip Asiodu (An ex-Minister of Petroleum and Economic Adviser to the Federal Government)

Personally, I am not in support of the death penalty. But I am in support of very stringent sentences. The fact is that we have not even convicted anybody, not to talk of considering the death penalty. Who are the people that have been convicted already? People are being prosecuted and it could go on for years.

What I think is important is to set a limit within which people who are accused must get judgment. The appropriate punishment should be given to those found guilty. It could be very disheartening when cases continue for several months or years. Yet, another person steals a goat and gets a sentence in six months.

It is clear that justice is not the same for everybody, and this is not acceptable. There must be a time limit within which pending cases must be treated. The same practice in election cases should apply to the prosecution of those accused of corruption. Such people should be convicted quietly and given the appropriate punishment. They could get 21 years in jail without an option of fine. Then, the money they stole must be recovered. There should not be an option of a fine because some of them might have killed other people. The money they stole might have led to the death of many people. That is why they deserve to be jailed without an option of a fine. I support stringent punishment, but not the death penalty.- • Prof. Remi Sonaiya (Ex-presidential candidate, KOWA Party)

What is your take on this? As for me, any one that has stolen above 500m deserve death

Politics / NERC Orders Discos To Provide Meters For Customers On CAPMI Scheme by onoerime: 6:03am On Jun 22, 2016
The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has directed the electricity distribution companies (DisCos) to provide meters for all maximum demand customers within their network not later than the last quarter of 2016 as agreed during the meeting it had with them on metering.

The commission threatened to sanction any defaulting Disco beginning from third quarter of the year.

Maximum demand electricity customers are those connected on the 11 KV (high tension wire) and mostly with their dedicated transformers.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by the commission frowned at Discos’ refusal to meter their maximum demand customers under the Credit Advance Payment for Metering Initiative (CAPMI).

The statement, signed by the Acting Chairman, Dr. Anthony Akah, noted that CAPMI is one of the commission’s initiatives, which permits willing electricity customers to pay for meters by advancing money to discos, which are expected to instal the meters within 45 days. Customer who subscribes to CAPMI is refunded his money with interest through discounted electricity bills over a period of time.

The statement read in part: “Any customer who approaches your disco for metering under CAPMI scheme must have his or her meter within CAPMI stipulated timeline of 45 days. The scheme remains an option for customers but a compulsory requirement for disco to implement when customer offers to contribute to metering through CAPMI.”

Electricity distribution companies were further directed to ensure that customers in the Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) are effectively managed. The directive further encouraged the discos to publicise CAPMI scheme for customers to subscribe to it so as to close the wide metering gap in the industry.

The commission also advised electricity consumers to explore its complaint and redress mechanism than resort to jungle justice in settling disputes with officials of the Discos.

Religion / Did Paul Contradict Jesus Christ? by onoerime: 8:22am On Jun 20, 2016
By Femi Aribisala

As for me, I only believe the report of the Lord Jesus.

Every Christian must decide whether he is a follower of Jesus or a follower of Paul. Don’t make the mistake of many in assuming the two are the same. For starters, take a closer look at the following.

Discrepancies

Jesus says children of God are born of God: “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3). But Paul says children of God are adopted by God: “We ourselves, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons.” (Romans 8:23).

Jesus says God must be the only father of believers: “Call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.” (Matthew 23:9). But Paul calls himself the father of some believers: “I appeal to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I became in my imprisonment.” (Philemon 1:10).

Jesus says he is the only pastor and the only teacher: “I have other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one pastor.” (John 10:16). “Nor be called teachers, for One is your Teacher, even Christ.” (Matthew 23:cool. But Paul says there are many pastors and teachers: “Truly he gave some to be apostles, and some to be prophets, and some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ. (Ephesians. 4:11-12). “I am ordained a preacher and an apostle (I speak the truth in Christ, I do not lie), a teacher of the nations, in faith and truth.” (1 Timothy 2:7).

Anomalies

Jesus says we should pray in private: “When you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, enter into your room. And shutting your door, pray to your Father in secret; and your Father who sees in secret shall reward you openly.” (Matthew 6:5-6). But Paul says we should pray everywhere: “I desire that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.” (1 Timothy 2:cool.

Jesus himself was circumcised: “When eight days were fulfilled to circumcise the child, his name was called JESUS, the name called by the angel before he was conceived in the womb.” (Luke 2:21). But Paul says if we are circumcised we would be estranged from Christ: “I, Paul, say to you that if you are circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing. For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do all the Law, you who are justified by Law are deprived of all effect from Christ; you fell from grace.” (Galatians 5:2-4).

Jesus says we should not receive payment for preaching the gospel: “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. You have received freely, freely give.” (Matthew 10:cool. But Paul says we should receive payment for preaching the gospel: “If we have sown spiritual things among you, is it too much if we reap material things from you?” (1 Corinthians 9:11).

Contradictions

Jesus says we should love one another: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35). But Paul wished some people would be castrated: “I wish that those causing you to doubt will cut themselves off.” (Galatians 5:12).

Jesus says we should love our enemy in order to be like God: “I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matthew 5:44-45). But Paul says we should love our enemy for malicious reasons: “If your enemy hunge
