As part of efforts to checkmate social vices and in fulfilment ofits Corporate Social Responsibility, Network Against Corruption and Human Trafficking (NACAT) on Monday had a massive sensitization campaign in UnguwanHausawa Kpaduma 2 Asokoro Extension Guzape district, Federal Capital Territory, that centered on corruption, drug and human trafficking.

Led by one of its Executive Director, Samson Tega, and the director of legal and operations, Barrister Ovie Justice, NACAT, a pro-democracy Civil Society Organization duly registered under Part “C” of the Companies and Allied Matters Act, Cap C20, Laws of the federation of Nigeria 2004 to, amongst other things, work with stakeholders for purposes of contributing to the global war against corruption, financial crimes, terrorism and economic sabotage.

During the one-day sensitization exercise, the NGO distributed food items such as bags of rice, cartons of spaghetti, cartons of indomie, bags of salts, cartons of tin tomatoes, packets of maggi as well as cash to the villagers.

The NGO, which was received by the village head, Alhassan Muhammed and other community leaders, emphasized the need for the elderly people in the village to educate their children about the dangers of corruption, drugs, and human trafficking.

In his address to the villagers, NACAT Manager Stanley Ugagbe harped on how to identify human traffickers as well as drug tracking. He stated that the company’s goal is to combat corruption and human tracking in the country, and that it is ready to assist the community in combating corruption and tracking.

“We are a group of young people who came together to see how we can contribute to nation building. In our research, we discovered that drug dealing, arms trafficking and human trafficking are the largest crime industries in the world.

According to Stanley, drug trafficking, a global illicit trade involving the cultivation, manufacture, distribution and sale of substances which are subject to drug prohibition laws is another major vice that has eaten deep into the society. He stressed the need for the villagers to steer clear of the vice.

“If you are here and you are into drugs, or you have a brother, sister, mother, father, uncle, sibling, friend or you know anyone around you who is into drugs, tell them that there is an NGO in town whose mission is to weed the society of such people and we will not leave any stone unturned in doing so.”

Stanley continued that the NGO is not selective in its fight against corruption, human and drug trafficking. “Irrespective of your status or who is behind you, we will come after you once you’re found complicit in these vices.”

In his remarks, the village head Alhassan Muhammed expressed gratitude to the NGO for deeming it fit to visit the community with such a crucial message. He stated as a community, they do not tolerate ill vices and will always deter such anomalies in the society.

Muhammed lauded the NGO for providing the food items as well as the cash. He prayed that God would reward the group, urging them to continue to devote themselves to humanitarian works in the society, especially in remote villages such as theirs.

Since its inception, NACAT has taken some politicians and civil servants to court for misappropriation of public funds. The NGO has also assisted in the rescue of victims of human trafficking and has been consistent in providing humanitarian services to the less privileged persons in society.

PoliticsKogi No Longer Safe For Criminals Under Yahaya Bello, IGP Declares by onojaintegrity(op): 4:01pm On Nov 21, 2022
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, on Monday, described Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State as a dogged crime fighter who had made the state unsafe for criminals to thrive.

He said the Kogi Governor was one governor that would never raise the alarm of not being in control of security in his state, adding that from what he had observed, the governor “leads from the front”.

The IGP, who spoke during his visit to Kogi State, added that he was happy that Governor Bello was playing the role of the “real Chief Executive Officer” in terms of security, noting that he is “a dependable ally in the battle against national insecurity.”

He said, “I’ve never heard him crying that he doesn’t have control of security in his state. That is because he is able to synergise and cooperate with all the security agencies as well as lead from the front. Security is everybody’s business. When you have a leader who is leading from the front, others will follow. That is what is happening in Kogi.

“Many of the crimes being committed by sons and daughters of Kogi are not even being committed in Kogi but outside Kogi because they have no place in Kogi State again.

“We have people like His Excellency who are supporting our cause. My sincere gratitude to His Excellency for being proactive about security. I can’t remember how many times he has visited the force headquarters, not for himself because he has no reason to; but in his efforts to protect his people. I don’t know how many governors do this.”

“In addition, we established a Joint Task Force, Operation Total Freedom, for them which allowed the Police, the Armed Forces and all the other Security Services, including our community policing network (the Kogi State Vigilante Services), to work in tandem, sharing intel and collaborating real-time in operations. In this way we were able to tackle the distrust existing among the services and which is the root of the lack of synergy hampering their effectiveness.”

Governor Bello attributed his success in security to the combined efforts of the state government and security agencies, saying, “On February 8th, 2017 I received the Special Award for Excellence In Security Governance confered on me by the then Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Kpotun Idris. It was the first award of its kind on a sitting Governor by the Nigerian Police. Till today the Nigerian Police Force has not seen it fit to bestow it on any other.

“On December 26, 2020 Major-General MG Ali, Commander of the Special Forces Battalion of the Nigerian Army gave me a highly cherished honourable mention during a public speech and held up our security model as worthy of emulation by other leaders.

“On October 21, 2022, President Muhammadu Buhari presented me with the Distinguished Award for Security Management at the 2022 Nigerian Excellence Awards in Public, held in Abuja.”

PoliticsApc, Pdp, Sdp, Ypp Stakeholders Defect To Adc In Kogi's Yagba Federal Const. by onojaintegrity(op): 10:39pm On Jul 16, 2022
It was a historic day in Kogi State today, as supporters and chieftains of the People's Democratic Party, the All Progressive Congress, the Social Democratic Party, the Youth Progressive Party, and others decamped to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yagba Federal Constituency in support of the constituency's House Member, Hon. Leke Joseph Abejide, ahead of the 2023 general election.

In describing the defection, Hon Leke, the state's most powerful federal legislator, stated that the defection of party faithful, including key stakeholders from opposition political parties in Yagba, is an indication of ADC's dominance.

Recall, last week, a stalwart of the APC, Hon. Tuesday Henry Abimbola, openly declared his intention to join the ADC in his home town. He officially joined the ADC and abandoned the APC, while rallying all of his supporters to support Leke for a second term.

Chief Asaje, who was previously an APC member, also openly renounced the APC and embraced the ADC, saying that his decision to join the ADC train is based on the achievements of Hon. Leke Abejide.

He listed his reasons for joining the ADC, with Leke's successes at the top of the list.

He said, "I am prepared to work with and support Hon. Leke Abejide for a second term; based on his track record, we are prepared to support and campaign for him."

Hon. Nike Akolade from Odo-Ere/ Oke-Ere/Akata ward, a big fish from APC, former Yagba West SSA on Women and Children mobilization, also defected from the former party to join ADC, saying leaving APC was one of the best decisions she ever made for the betterment of Yagba and the people of Odo Ere, Oke-Ere Akata.

“APC has left us with no option but to join the ADC, we love what Leke Abejide of ADC is doing, he has been a detribalized leader that reaches to the people at the grassroots, irrespective of a political party. His openness is one of the key attributes that distinguish him.

“Our defection from APC in Kogi state is also based on the hunger and suffering the party has introduced to our people, we are tired of underdevelopment. We want to progress in our land, with what Hon. Leke is doing in Yagba, progress is obtainable."

Multitude of decampees from all the 34 wards in Yagba Federal Constituency declared support for the ADC, including Mr Charles, a youth frontrunner and former Youth leader in APC, Mr Olu Ologbon, former Chairman of APC ward 03 Od Egbe, and many other former executive members, stakeholders, and supporters.

Members of the YPP in Yagba also disbanded their party structure to join the ADC in the constituency.

The YPP representative stated that the party is officially joining ADC in order to grow stronger and deliver Hon. Leke and other state Assembly aspirants in 2023.

Leke known for numerous achievements, officially welcomed the decampees to the party, thanking them for joining and promising an open-door policy to accommodate all. He charged to always work in the best interests of ADC to promote its tenent of Arise and Shine for all.

He assured the new members of their sense of belonging in the party and charged ADC supporters and stakeholders across the wards to embrace and integrate the decampees as plans for the 2023 general election will be unfolded in the days ahead.

Foreign AffairsGhanaians Drag Ex-President Mahama On Twitter Over Yahaya Bello's Mobile Clinic by onojaintegrity(op): 3:25pm On Jun 29, 2022
Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State, has once again sparked conversation on social media, this time among Ghanaians as well as Nigerians, as the governor's standards for Kogi projects are being used by Ghanaians online to disparage their former president, John Dramani Mahama.

Bello's mobile clinic was utilized in a tweet by a Ghanaian named Kay with the handle @Kwesi Agyei_ to draw the former president's attention to the fact that the governor's mobile clinic is the benchmark required in Ghana.

The governor is currently being portrayed in the viral tweet as one of the best African leaders, making several Nigerians regret not backing him to become their country's next president. The post has received hundreds of replies.

Bello has publicized a number of his projects and accomplishments in Kogi State during the last few days. Nigerians and other Africans consider the majority of the projects to be of the highest caliber and the benchmark for contemporary society.

Due to this, some Nigerians have taken to social media to apologize for not supporting the governor during the primary elections when Bello ran for the position of the nation's next president.

PoliticsAPC Primary: Ignore Northern Governors, Arewa Group tells Delegates by onojaintegrity(op): 6:46pm On Jun 05, 2022
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF) has kicked against the move by the 11 Northern Governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to concede the presidency to the south calling on delegates not to succumb to the self-serving agenda.

This was contained in a statement issued by the National President of the forum, Yerima Shettima, and made available to Tribune Online on Sunday.

Source: https://tribuneonlineng.com/apc-primary-ignore-northern-governors-arewa-group-tells-delegates/

He noted that they were disturbed by the failure of the Northern Governors to tackle the massive poverty, insurgency, banditry, and kidnapping in the region now they are turning around to deny the people the right to choose who they like to succeed Buhari.

The statement noted that following this development, ” we don’t expect party delegates to follow the self-serving agenda of the governors.
”As a group that upholds the ethics of democracy, we feel duty-bound to call out these Northern governors. And we wish to state as follows:

”It is undemocratic to Zone Nigeria’s presidency to the South in 2023 because it is the prerogative of voters to decide which candidate they would like to vote for, whether a Northerner or a Southerner.

”The masses have not spoken yet and it amounts to imposition to declare that South is the way to go.
”The 11 Northern Governors did not indicate a single effort they made to consult their people in the region,  before their wholesale endorsement of the declaration for a Southern presidential candidate.

” An important pillar of democracy, which in consultation with the masses, is out of the question because our governors would rather pretend that their wish is supreme.
”Going by  what has happened so far, it is now abundantly clear to innocent Northern voters that their mind is being conditioned to accept a purely selfish and shameful political agenda of relinquishing power on a platter of gold like the military was doing in the past
”Though we are aware of how much the North’s Founding fathers like Sardauna Ahmadu Bello worked for the interest of the region, we are not surprised that Sardauna’s agenda has now been undermined by the inordinate ambition of our governors.
”It is worrisome that our Governors have sold out completely this time, with their smear on democracy and the electoral rights of the masses.
”We are deeply worried that the dream of having new faces at the helmsman of affairs of our democratic institutions has now been deliberately killed by self-serving Governors of the North.
”The real agenda of these Northern governors, which is now unfolding, is to deliberately blackmail Buhari into doing their bidding.
”They expect the President,  who loves his people so much, to turn his back by allowing his successor to emerge through the backdoor.
”We urge President Buhari never to succumb to these Governors’ cheap blackmail of selling out our people’s right to vote the real candidate of their choice – whether a Northerner or not.
”We call on all Northerners of good conscience to reject this wholesale disenfranchisement of innocent Northern voters in broad daylight, by State Chief Executives that are bound by the constitution and the Rule of Law to protect and promote our interests as obedient followers.
”We say no to this brigandage and brazen dictatorship in the guise of democratic strategy.
”We are seriously looking up to President Buhari, not to let the North down. And our biggest hope is the Delegates who have a duty to do whatever is democratically right to defend,  promote and project the interest of Nigerians in general and the Northerners in particular.
”We are still watching very closely to this disenfranchising move of the Northern governors against their people, for self-serving political agenda. And we are also waiting to see what happens tomorrow, to see whether they have a new definition of democratic culture and decorum.

Politics11 Selfish Northern Governors Sold Northern Interest To Become VP - Arewa by onojaintegrity(op): 7:56am On Jun 05, 2022

The 11 northern Progressive governors' decision to zone the All Progressive Congress' presidential ticket to the South ahead of the party's primary scheduled for the 6th and 8th of this month has been roundly rejected by the northern youths.

Following a statement of resolution released by the governors on Saturday, after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, northern youths said in a press conference that the governors should be completely ignored because their resolution is completely unacceptable.

The youths said in a video address to the press obtained by The Trumpet that the 11 governors' decision to shift power to the south after only two terms of President Buhari spent by the region is an act of selfishness and selfish interest. It went on to say that the south has been in power for 12 years, including the administrations of Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, and that a northern candidate should be allowed to fly the APC flag in 2023.

The Northern Youth Alliance, or AREWA, has also stated emphatically that the 11 governors' statement will be a costly mistake for the APC, adding that it is not in the best interests of the country, but of the 11 self-centered individuals who wrote to the president.

The statement by Northern States APC Governors and Political Leaders read, "APC governors and political leaders from the northern states of Nigeria today met to review the political situation and to further support our Party in providing progressive leadership amidst our national challenges. During our discussions, we welcomed President Muhammadu Buhari's invitation to governors and other stakeholders to contribute to the emergence of a strong presidential candidate for the APC.

"After careful deliberation, we wish to state our firm conviction that after eight years in office of President Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the APC for the 2023 elections should be one of our teeming members from the southern states of Nigeria. It is a question of honour for the APC, an obligation that is not in anyway affected by the decisions taken by another political party. We affirm that upholding this principle is in the interest of building a stronger, more united and more progressive country.

"We therefore wish to strongly recommend to President Muhammadu Buhari that the search for a successor as the APC's presidential candidate be limited to our compatriots from the southern states. We appeal to all aspirants from the northern states to withdraw in the national interest and allow only the aspirants from the south to proceed to the primaries. We are delighted by the decision of our esteemed colleague. His Excellency, Governor Abubakar Badaru to contribute to this patriotic quest by withdrawing his presidential aspiration.

"The APC has a duty to ensure that the 2023 elections offer a nation-building moment, reaffirming that a democratic pathway to power exists for all who value cooperation and build national platforms. This moment calls for the most sober and inclusive approach to selecting our party's candidate, and we call on all APC leaders to fulfil their responsibility in this regard."

The resolution signed by governor Aminu Bello Masari, Katsina State; Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger State; Abdullahi A. Sule, Nasarawa State, Prof. B.G. Umara Zulum, Borno State; Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, Kaduna State; Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya, Gombe State; Bello M. Matawalle, Zamfara State; Simon Bako Lalong Plateau State; Senator Aliyu Wamakko, former governor Sokoto State; Dr. A.U. Ganduje, Kano State; and Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu Governor of Kebbi State was completely condemned by the northern youths.

The youth also declared their disdain for the governors, warning the ruling party not to take the risk of succumbing to the "self-centered" governors' appeal.

Meanwhile, Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity) has said that the outcome of the meeting between the president and aspirants on Saturday night was for the presidential aspirants to go and consult, build consensus, and come up with a formidable candidate.

Adesina said that was the president's address to the aspirants, clearing the air on rumors circulating that the president has backed a southern candidate.

PoliticsA Yahaya Bello Ticket Has Backing Of Over 35million Youths - BAN by onojaintegrity(op): 8:53am On May 30, 2022
If the ruling All Progressives Congress considers a candidate other than a northerner and a young person like Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, the party will crash in the 2023 general election. The statistics are straightforward. The governor is having the backing of over 35million youths, Bello Ambassadors Network, a sociopolitical group said.

It's no news, the People's Democratic Party is bringing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, a North Easterner. With this, BAN said any attempt by the APC to select a southerner as its flagbearer would turn the presidential battle into a North VS South contest, with the implication that the north would rarely vote for an outsider, and the north would hardly decrease in voting population.

The group is of the opinion that if the APC recognizes the value of wisdom, Governor Bello would bring the truphy to the party for two reasons: he is the candidate of the youth and he is a fellow northerner from a marginalized northern region, nothing that "the calculation is simple: Bello will divide the northern votes, obtain the southern votes, and obtain the votes of the nation's youths, who constitute the majority of the voting population."

Bello Ambassadors in a statement following the emergence of Atiku said, "It's also a harsh reality that northerners have a political mindset that encourages brotherhood and respect for religion. Of course, we cannot deny that region and region are important factors in determining political victory in Nigeria. Bello falls under these two categories, which will influence votes from the North regardless of party affiliation.

"Yahaya Bello's candidacy is also advantageous to the APC in that he is from a state that connects him to the Yorubas and Igbos while also being accepted as their own by the northerners. Bello is close to the South East, as well as the South South and South West. The governor is also regarded as a unifier in this regard. Of course, Nigeria requires a leader who can connect with all regions and achieve success.

"The APC should equally know that Nigerians will also begin to investigate the religion and tribal affiliations of the candidates that the PDP, APC, and other parties will present for the general election next year. And when these records are checked, it is undeniable that Bello is the most detribalized person, based on his leadership model at the state level, where he has almost all of the tribes in his cabinet. And as a religiously tolerant leader, he has also constructed a suitable chapel for Christian worshipers in the Kogi State government house making the state to be deviod of religion crisis.

"Without a doubt, the APC's victory is in its hands, and it is in the hands of Yahaya Bello. If the party is sincere and still wants to be in power, only Bello can dismantle Atiku's stronghold and deliver the party a resounding victory."

BAN has a registered member of millions of young Nigerians with chapters across the 36 states of the federation.

PoliticsYahaya Bello's Manifestoes Comes First In 12 Presidential Aspirants - Channels by onojaintegrity(op): 8:40pm On May 25, 2022
As Nigerians await the decision of the party delegates to determine who will be the flagbearers of the major political parties, valuation of the aspirants continues as more facts emerge on who is the most qualified person for the job of president come 2023.

In its efforts to present the best candidate to the people, Channels Television examined the manifestos of the top 12 presidential aspirants and discovered that the Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has the most feasible plan to reform the country.

Bello was ranked first among the top 12 Presidential candidates in the popular Channels TV Data Analyst Babajide Ogunsanwo's Manifesto Review (Score Scale 1 - 5) on Equity and Accountability, Wealth Creation/Management, Education, Security, Power, and Industrialization.

The development strengthens some Nigerians' faith in the young governor, who has demonstrated a transparent approach to governance in Kogi State.

PoliticsBuhari Should Endorse Yahaya Bello And Win The Hearts Of Nigerian Youths by onojaintegrity(op): 6:23pm On May 23, 2022
It is safe to say that President Muhammedu Buhari is currently at a crossroads in terms of who his successor should be, especially given the weight of those vying for the presidency from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, come 2023.

However, Mr. President should be aware that if he makes a mistake in endorsing the wrong person, he risks losing the respect Nigerians have for him and the honor he deserves when he leaves office and becomes a former President after his tenure.

Many believe that Buhari must observe Nigerians' body language to determine who the people truly want among the political heavyweights vying for the number one office.

On Saturday, nearly half of the Nigerian youth population took to the streets across the six geopolitical zones to march in support of Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, urging that he be allowed to become the next president. The youths made a powerful statement that is still being heard and trending on social media.

Nigerians have repeatedly elected old people to power, and it appears that the country is not growing as expected. With the people's bad experiences, it's obvious that they are now interested in a younger person.

To accentuate this point, young Nigerians have been absent from school for months due to a strike. Some have taken to the streets to complain that while they are at home, their Kogi State University classmates are in class. Of course, Bello resolved the state's strike issue. This, without a doubt, is inspiring young people to believe that Bello can do the same at the national level.

If the APC and President Buhari want the goodwill of Nigerian youths, no candidate other than Yahaya Bello, a young man, should be considered because the youths feel secure with him looking at the massive support he is enjoying from young people across the nation.

The governor has the youngest set of appointees across the nation and it's without a doubt that through a man of such figure, the sons and daughters of the nobodies shall become somebodies.
