No Nigerian police personnel was born corrupt. Nigeria's politicians refuse to
negotiate the issues that nurture people to criminality in Nigeria.

Policing in Nigeria is like during the medieval period.
Modern policing involves information gathering.
Police no longer display automatic guns before unarmed civilians.

So why blame her?

Politicians in Europe can steal a tiny portion of money meant for public works, they will do the work fine, but Nigeria's politicians can steal billions of Naira or 99% of money meant for public works. Nothing happens to them.

The second concert will hold on Sunday at the same venue.

@onuman, in your futile efforts to attempt to counter my argument, you're floundering like a weak bulb, propped hurriedly or badly in a faulty lamp holder. What u have is a light that touches and goes as it were.

I never for once said the other tribes were pigmies or anything less. My argument is clearly enunciated- the SW works because of visionary leadership. I'm baffled that that twanged a chord of hate in you. It's difficult to argue against the contributions of the Yoruba to Nigeria's development. Some of it's finest hours have been brought by people of Yoruba descent, from music to sport; from international diplomacy to culture. We have demonstrated the Omoluabi ethos in everything we do. More often than not, we've left pur footprints everywhere we've passed. You can see the documentary, Bigger Than Africa in order to cure yourself of hate towards people of the SW.

* More than 50% of Nigerians live in the SW, not just Lagos.
Your much-vaunted visionary leadership of Yoruba contributing to developing the SW region. Where is the
development? You are virtually blind.
Germany was carpetbombed during WW11. Today, all of Germany are ultramodern. It's similar in the southeast which you love to call bush. Today, except Lagos in the SW region, no Yoruba town or village is more modern than the cities and villages in the southeast.
Your problem is you don't look beyond the nose.

I agree with Galadima on this.

There is vacancy for bags carriers in Aso Rock.
Please stop discounting the nearly 30 years before 1999 during which north ruled Nigeria either through civil or military govts. The history of political leadership of Nigeria must not be started in 1999 by northern Nigeria.
Those were even the crucial years because, those years, northern Nigeria used its military dictators and created 20 new federating units in the old Northern region of Nigeria but allowed only 17 new federating units in the two old southern regions of Nigeria. A huge FRAUD. Because land mass or population figures is never used as criterion to create too undue large number of new federating units in one region of a country formed by different regions.
Politics › Re: Tinubu Determined To Perform Stubborn Tasks, Lead Nigeria At Any Cost – Dogara by onuman: 5:16pm On Dec 15, 2024
Northern military dictators alone created the 36 states and Abuja political structure of Nigeria, and proliferated undue large number of 20 new federating units in one northern region but allowed only 17 new federating units in the two southern regions of Nigeria.
They shepherded the 1999 constitution that legits the skewed and lopsided political structure. Land mass or population figures is never used as criterion to create new federating units in a country formed by different regions.
Until Tinubu enables creation of equalising states in the south to raise political representation of the two old southern regions in the central government, whatever political reforms Tinubu is carrying out today shall be reversed in the NASS after his tenure.

@onuman, [s]I've not had the luxury of time since you posted the insipid, largely hollow response to my assertion.

For a start, you lack rudimentary lessons of Lagos history. Two, you were, well maybe, you're still being driven by emotions. Thus, you can't separate logic from your emotional whims.

By 1908, Lagos was already a developed city. Whereas, your rat hole of a village or whatever you call it was still in obscurity- without electric power, railway system etc, etc. And, with certitude, I can bet most of your forebears were still roaming and foraging the bushes and forests of your region for food.

Lagos had been interacting with the outside world as far back as the 15th century. In 1473, it had an interaction with the Portuguese. In 1861, it became a British colony.

Carter Bridge was constructed in 1908, I think. Where were other tribes in Nigeria by then. And what did they contribute to the GDP of Lagos?

If anything, the FG made Lagos a capital because of its development and not otherwise.

It's very interesting that you veered of the crux of the matter. Well, that's how people with paucity of ideas or ammunition do. They go on the defensive. My focus was on the SW, not Lagos. How did the issue of Lagos come in?

If talking about one's nationality-because I see the SW as a nation, the Yoruba nation- is tantamount to chest beating, then I think your education, if u had any- is very much wasted.

Eventually, Nigeria will split, then you'll realise what you and your lot have been taking for granted.

* Lagos has ceased to be the capital for 33 years now. And what have other tribes contributed to it, if not swarming it for economic and social survival.
[/s]
Shurrup. I read only two lines of your usually stupeed and illogical responses.
Return to your dustbeaten, thatched roof houses in the decrepit villages in the mostly rural southwest region and queue for bread there as usual.
Lagos was built, and is being
built, by all of Nigeria with their taxes and proceeds from crude oil and gas deposits in the Southsouth and southeast regions of Nigeria.

The Dynamic That Makes The SW Ahead Of The Pack

Without vision, a people perish. Sounds familiar? That's what the Bible opines.

The SW has produced visionary leaders and original thinkers, who have changed the course of history, from Awolowo to Tinubu. Afe Babalola, although not a political leader, is prescient and visionary. Is it baffling why the SW is streets or light years ahead of other regions of Nigeria?

The January 15, 1966 coup technically ended the regional government, which had allowed the SW to flourish. In its stead is a dead rubber of a political system that rewards only patrons of the system.

The SW is working today, not because it used to be the former capital- I know lame brains simplistically hold on to that- but because of its visionary leadership.
Why not Oduduwa Republic now? There are as many as 30 million Yoruba. Crude oil is not all a country requires to make it. Chestbeating for nothing. Lagos is your focus on how you are ion years ahead of rest of the world. Lagos was built by all the ethnic groups in Nigeria with proceeds from crude oil in the Niger delta region.

Like a ritual since 2009 - Nigerian troops killed or wounded by Boko Haram Islamic insurgents.
Boko Haram which says it's fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws emerged in Nigeria after the political and religious leaders in the 12 far northern states of Nigeria adopted unconstitutional sharia criminal justice system.

You can't defeat the insurgents through fighting with them in a religious war with too many people sharing the same objective with the insurgents.
Solution: let the sharia states renounce their adoption of sharia criminal laws OR let Nigeria split into different countries. No country was created to remain one forever.

Tell them to renounce Islamic sharia criminal justice system in the 12 sharia states, so that their Islamic insurgents who are fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system shall close shops.
Else, it's marking time with a forlorn hope that Nigeria's armed forces shall one day defeat the insurgents. Learn from the Taliban of Afghanistan. The Taliban and the northern Nigeria Islamists share common goal - Islamic State governed with Sharia criminal laws in their respective countries.
