If it's Naija MF, then he will get his groove back. I thought it was from the US. However, it's clear the VO was in the wrong cos I know several people who have their ppr with the same stanbic MF. Stanbic MF is not the MF type your see in the US or Canada. Their dollar variant comes close to that though, cos of the terms of liquidation. Let everyone planning to us stanbic MF dollar fund take note. You can't liquidate at will without penalties

Yes, CAD can be transferred from Nigeria. However, it will be treated as a third currency. Your funds will first be converted to USD and then to CAD . You will lose a lot in exchange rates and fees.
.

Not necessarily. Provided he can source the CAD and deposit the funds in his CAD domiciliary account, the bank will transfer the money from his CAD account without having to convert it to USD.

Except the challenge is in getting CAD, in which case he may have to use a USD account. The bank conversion rate comes into play here.

Thanks alot for your replies. From the information I was given about the account, I don't think it's a specific type of account yet (please see attached pic). So can I just send the money now and deal with the rest when I get there ?
Also, due to bank costs and the fact that I'm not sure if bank can transfer directly to CAD, I was thinking of using rave by flutterwave to transfer instead but I'm a little scared. I've used them for some small transactions but I've also seen some bad reviews about them. What are your thoughts please?

Please note you can transfer CAD directly from Nigeria (you are required to have a domiciliary account of any currency) to your offshore account with NBC. All that's required from you is the swift details of your bank and your account details with the bank.

Seeing the responses to your posts so far, I had to call a colleague to confirm my assertion.

Not in this case. Your bank could have written off 30b loan in bad debt without any publicity. In this case the 8b is a payment that has been awarded by the supreme court with its attendant publicity. Not to talk of the Writ of FiFa that followed the judgment.
As an ex banker, you believe that from Monday there will be panic withdrawal and offloading of the bank's shares and you know what that means.
shocked shocked

Panic withdrawing over a judgement debt of N8.8bn? Seriously

Depositors will go about their business on Monday like the judgement debt never happened.

Beside the bad publicity this has brought GTbank, which I am sure will be contained in no time, it's business as usual on Monday... goes to show how financially healthy GTbank is.

This is not to say it was right for GTbank to have been reckless in its dealing with Innoson.

Career / Re: Workplace Criminality – Can An Employer Fire An Employee Over A Case In Court? by opeyemmmy(m): 7:51am On Mar 31, 2018
IMHO, yes.

The internal investigations might have found him guilty of dereliction of duty, which is a sackable offence in itself.

So, the court case is to prove if he's complicit in the fraud or not... this being a criminal offence.

It is well bro. That guy is nasty though from your story.

I remember when I was working at superstore, one of the Philippino guys (they were like 60% of the people in the Produce Department) who was actually friendly asked if I was from Africa.

I was like "obviously".

He said: "Africa must be a very big country".

Ah. I sharply did some Geography 101 for him that Africa is a continent and there are over 50 countries. My country, Nigeria, is just one of them. I asked if he had never heard of Nigeria before, the most populous black nation?

He continued: "I have heard of South Africa. Isn't that the Southern part of Africa? And you are saying Africa is not a country?". grin

Na so I just ignore am.

Hahaha.. grin grin

And North America and South America are countries too.

This is false.
Not possible to gain upto 460k based on the info above.

Sorry to butt in, this is not impossible.

The bank is selling his investment at the secondary market at a lower yield - 15.6% (because Tbill rates had fallen) compared to when he bought it - 17.388%, which means the holder to maturity will earn less than the initial yield on the bill.

So besides the interest accrued on his investment for the 63 days(?) he held it, he has also made some profit on sale arising from yields dropping by 1.788%.

This, I believe, is what his bank has used in calculating his payout.

With the little I know, shipping fee usually doesn't include clearing, except there is a special arrangement with the shipper... in which case the shipper has a clearing agent here. I must say, this is very, very rare.

And btw, the Nigeria Custom recently increased custom duties... so be ready to cough out some good money.

If you have the cash in a dom account here, why not withdraw it and sell at the black market?

If you insist on transferring it, I can link you with a friend that has a dom account with one of the banks you mentioned above.

Hi guys, I need your advice and assistance.

I have a cousin who overstayed his visa in Dubai. So, he finally decided to return to Nigeria and was asked to go Immigration office for exit permit. He lives in Sharjah, btw.

Getting there yesterday armed with Dubai to Lagos ticket to show he's committed to leaving Dubai, he was detained. Upon enquiry, he was told someone had used his passport to leave Dubai on the claim that the person lost his passport.

From what I heard, he could either be locked up for months or be deported immediately, the latter of which I'd take wholeheartedly.

Please guys, what can he do? Is there anything we can do from Nigeria here? Please. sad

What was it before today? I do expect them to review it downward in the coming days.

I'm expecting a spread of 320-350 on cards

The directive was clear on a cap of N5 margin. Interbank rate for sometime now has been between N304.5 - N315; except the rate changes or CBN increases the margin, I don't expect card rate to be above N320.

and 350-400 on the streets as Travelex eases pressure a little.

The current N470+ rate was highly due to speculation anyway.

350-400 at the black market is a long shot. CBN has not done so much to expect such. And for me, I don't think the arrangement with Travelex is sustainable... though I hope I'm wrong on this.
