My Success. So a month after my service, I got married. (I Claimed to be the youngest married Nairalander then) I was really very happy but then wify had a health challenge so I had to resign my job to stay close to her. She's super fine now sha.. Glory be to God! Although I have always been business minded and had bought more useless ebooks than my professional courses, I have never really seen a viable 'make money online' blueprint. It was all about peddling ebooks. At this time, I needed something to be doing because savings was dropping rapidly. I was lucky to come across this thread https://www.nairaland.com/2390751/how-make-up-500k-every#34927043Since it was a freelance job and not some ebook peddling shiits, I decided to try it out. It paid off. I joined the OP's Facebook group, read posts and experience from others and signed up with Fiverr. In my first month, I earned $380 (writing/ proofreading and editing). I didn't expect to earn that much TBH. The second month gave me $700+ boy, o boy I was in cloud 90. It felt so good to be true. But with fake American account, fake profile image and Fiverr being in control of everything, I had the feeling that it won't last (this would later prove true). With this in mind, I started looking for something I would have more control, where my fate is in my own hand. I was curious to know what my clients were doing with the articles so I often had to google the keywords or topics of the articles I had written for my clients to see what they are doing with it. That was how I was introduced to affiliate marketing as it actually is. What I did was to buy domains and hosting and then mirrored two of my repeat client's sites. One on ClickBank and the other on Amazon Associates. My Fiverr account was later banned as I feared but by then I was already seeing sales with affiliate marketing. Amazon associates proved to be converting more than Clickbank so I abandoned the Clickbank site to die and concentrate on the Amazon site. At some point in 2017, I started making $2000+ from the site. Bear in mind that I didn't do any SEO research before starting this site. It was after I started it that I began to learn about SEO. So I was using spamming aka 'free promotion method' to earn before I learned to build links and I started buying links. Mid last year, I flipped (sold it on flippa for thousands of xxxx $$$) that site for a huge $$$ and built myself a house. (I go show una small pinshure)

LONG READ ALERT Just feels like sharing my Nairaland experience with the hope that others could learn from my mistake as well as my little success.
I joined here years ago during my graduation clearance after a friend asked me if I was on Nairaland (first time I was hearing about the site). I was surprised to see the forum has lots of mind-blowing information and I wondered why I have not heard about the site before. Before I knew it, I was spending much time on the site even at odd hours trying to read up all the information I could find in the Business and Agric Section of the forum.
My Mistake 1 - Responding to Tribal and Religious Bigots
Like any man, I am proud of my heritage and wouldn't trade anything for it, believe me. Being from Delta State which is multi-ethnic and having lived in Abuja, Abia, Akwa Ibom as well as being schooled in Lagos and Benin, I have made substantial contact with people of different tribes, culture, and backgrounds. I have never seen anyone from another tribe as being different from me, nor have I been ever made to feel different. Nairaland almost changed that view. Here on Nairaland, things were and are still different. I couldn't say how it all started, but over time as I became more active on the forum, I became acutely aware of this blood curdling tribal and religious hate. It seems like no one was spared and even the MODs are guilty. My first reactions to these were trying to engage in a reasonable discussion. I had thought that it would help the fellow to have a different view. I was wrong, totally wrong. Bigots, (tribal or religious) don't reason and it's pointless trying to change their view. They just want to do or say something that will hurt their target and would use the vilest of methods to do it.
I was forced to reply back in kind on some occasions (big mistake) as it's like they crave the attention.
Solution to this; Seun, please, give us a dislike or thump down button. If we have this, I believe that many folks here would dislike a vile tribal/religious comment even if it was made by their tribesmen against another tribe. It's easy to dislike a post without getting into argument with the bigots and if the bigots don't get the morbid attention they are seeking, they would tire out.
I loathe seeing those few posts on my timeline.
My Mistake 2 Sports Betting
Here on the forum too, I was always on the business section and there is always a thread dedicated to sports betting aka alabi. Over time, I would sneak in and read to see what it was all about. At that time, I was doing my NYSC service. I was young (my early 20s) had a lot of time and some savings so would do some betting on weekends. Won and lost some money...lost #150k on one weekend. . It's not the lost money that's actually my issue with betting, it was the time wasted to analyse, compare and what not ... I could spend the whole evenings a week analysing and keeping tabs with teams so as to have the in-depth info on them. Guess what happens at the end 1 game or 1 goal will ruin your week. Betting bad sha!
My Success. So a month after my service, I got married. (I Claimed to be the youngest married Nairalander then) I was really very happy but then wify had a health challenge so I had to resign my job to stay close to her. She's super fine now sha.. I'm thankful that I joined Nairaland, and I'm also mindful that it nearly derailed me. I hope my experience will help someone in some way. Whether you are sick of all the hateful bigots and the madness going on here or you are frustrated by Fiverr (Fiverr is hard nowadays), brainstorm and find a way to twist knowledge you have to serve you well. There are a lot of information freely available here and all over the internet that you can use to make good money if you use them correctly. Shun insults and unprofitable arguments and concentrate on what would better your life. I have been away from Nairaland for some time and I'm happy I did. I have a new project now, and it's a lot of work so I may not have the time to be responding here but I hope this would give you a little push. Peace! |
