Amina, 28, started hustling as a broke student in Northern Nigeria. By the time she graduated, she had built a thriving food business that raked in hundreds of millions in revenue. But success came at a cost. Even after shutting down the business to pursue a self-funded MBA abroad, she found herself constantly exploited by the people closest to her. This is Amina’s story, As Told To Aisha Bello I didn’t set out to become “the rich friend.” In 2015, I was just a broke 100-level engineering student, the first daughter in a family of four, studying in the North and trying to survive. I came from a decent background, but that didn’t mean comfort. My parents covered tuition, but almost everything else was on me. So, I did what I had to do: I started a small business. I sold crates of eggs to students in my hostel, then added bags of sachet water, offloading from trucks at odd hours, and selling them straight from my room. I advertised on hostel group chats and quickly became the go-to plug for essentials, enough to feed myself and stay afloat. I kept the food hustle going even as I moved into my second year. By 300-level, I used my savings to buy a deep freezer. Every day, at 5 a.m., I’d head to the local market for tomatoes, peppers, and frozen food: chicken, beef and fish, then portion and resell on campus. Good days brought in at least ₦15k profit. But it wasn’t enough. By 400-level in 2018, I spotted a bigger opportunity. I Branched Out, and Business Took Off I’d become known for my food: friends, classmates, and even strangers were placing regular orders. Demand had outgrown casual sales, so I opened a proper food outlet on campus. Setting up was tough. I needed about ₦2 million: ₦300k to build a shop, ₦400k for fittings, ₦1 million for stock and equipment, and ₦250k to lease a space. The money didn’t come easily. I sold my phones, leaned on friends, emptied my savings, and spent nearly a year putting it all together. In 2019, I opened for business, and it took off. I quickly became one of the most trusted vendors on campus, and demand exploded. I remember making my first ₦70k in one day. Soon, I was pulling in ₦300k- ₦400k in revenue daily, with profits averaging ₦100k, and ₦200k on really good days. Revenue far exceeded my expectations. I hired staff, scaled operations, and when the business peaked in 2021, I made close to ₦3 million in monthly profit. But it wasn’t easy. I barely slept between juggling school, managing staff, and running daily operations. In my final year, I bought a Camry, and it became clear to everyone I was on mad money. But I didn’t feel rich; it was all business money. Read Full Article Here>>>https://allbiohub.com/i-built-a-multi-million-naira-food-business-now-everyone-thinks-its-their-money-too/ |
Mia Khalifa is a Lebanese-American media personality and former pornographic film actress and webcam model. Born and raised in Lebanon, she and her family relocated to the United States in 2001. She entered the adult industry in October 2014, becoming the most-viewed performer on Pornhub in two months. Mia Khalifa has remained a widely recognized name even years after stepping away from the adult entertainment industry. In 2025, her career has evolved significantly, and she continues to build her wealth through various business ventures, social media, and investments. This article explores Mia Khalifa’s net worth, how she makes her money, her personal life, and her impressive real estate portfolio. What Is Mia Khalifa’s Net Worth in 2025? As of 2025, Mia Khalifa’s estimated net worth stands at approximately $20 million. While her time in the adult film industry was brief, her ability to leverage fame into lucrative opportunities has been instrumental in growing her wealth. How Much Did Mia Khalifa Make from Adult Entertainment? Despite her fame in the adult film industry, Mia Khalifa has been open about the fact that she earned very little from her brief time in the industry. She revealed in interviews that she made only $12,000 from the few films she participated in before leaving the industry in 2015. Contrary to popular belief, she did not continue earning residual income from those videos, as they are owned by production companies. The misconception that she became wealthy from adult films is false; most of her net worth comes from her ventures after leaving the industry. How Much Does Mia Khalifa Make a Year? In 2025, Mia Khalifa is estimated to earn between $3 million and $5 million per year, thanks to her various business ventures and digital content. A significant portion of her income comes from social media sponsorships, OnlyFans, brand collaborations, and merchandise sales. Even before his name was announced from the balcony of St Peter's Basilica, the crowds below were chanting "Viva il Papa" - Long live the Pope. Robert Francis Prevost, 69, has become the 267th occupant of the throne of St Peter and he will be known as Leo XIV. He is the first American to fill the role of pope, although he is considered as much a cardinal from Latin America because of the many years he spent as a missionary in Peru. Born in Chicago in 1955 to parents of Spanish and Franco-Italian descent, Leo served as an altar boy and was ordained in 1982. Although he moved to Peru three years later, he returned regularly to the US to serve as a pastor and a prior in his home city. He has Peruvian nationality and is fondly remembered as a figure who worked with marginalised communities and helped build bridges. He spent 10 years as a local parish pastor and as a teacher at a seminary in Trujillo in north-western Peru. In his first words as Pope, Leo spoke fondly of his predecessor Francis. "We still hear in our ears the weak but always courageous voice of Pope Francis who blessed us," he said. "United and hand in hand with God, let us advance together," he told cheering crowds. The Pope also spoke of his role in the Augustinian Order. In 2014, Francis made him Bishop of Chiclayo in Peru. He is well known to cardinals because of his high-profile role as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in Latin America which has the important task of selecting and supervising bishops. US President Donald Trump has attracted criticism from some Catholics after posting an AI-generated image of himself as the Pope. The picture, which was shared by official White House social media accounts, comes as Catholics mourn the death of Pope Francis, who died on 21 April, and prepare to choose the next pontiff. The New York State Catholic Conference accused Trump of mocking the faith. The post comes days after he joked to media: "I'd like to be Pope." Trump is not the first president to be accused of causing offence to the Catholic faith. Former US President Joe Biden, a Catholic, caused outrage a year ago when he made the sign of the cross at a pro-abortion access rally in Florida. Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni declined to answer questions about Trump's post during a briefing with journalists on Saturday. The Vatican is preparing to host a conclave to choose Francis's successor beginning on Wednesday. The image posted by Trump on Friday night features him wearing a white cassock and pointed mitre, traditionally worn by a bishop. He wears a large cross around his neck, and has his finger held up, with a solemn facial expression. The New York State Catholic Conference, which represents bishops in New York, took to X to criticise the picture. People in Nigeria may lose access to Facebook and Instagram after parent company Meta said it faced large fines and "unrealistic" regulatory demands from the Nigerian authorities. Last year, three Nigerian oversight agencies imposed fines on the US-based social media giant totalling more than $290m (£218m) for violating various laws and regulations. Meta was unsuccessful in a recent attempt to challenge the decisions in the federal high court in Abuja. "The applicant may be forced to effectively shut down the Facebook and Instagram services in Nigeria in order to mitigate the risk of enforcement measures," the company said in the court papers. Meta also owns WhatsApp, but it did not mention the messaging service in its statement. The high court has given the company until the end of June to pay the fines. The BBC has asked Meta to outline what its next steps will be but has not yet received a response. Facebook is by far the most popular social media platform in Nigeria and is used by tens of millions in the country for daily communication and sharing news. It is also a vital tool for many of Nigeria's small online businesses. In July last year, Meta was asked to pay three fines: The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) imposed a $220m fine for alleged anti-competitive practices The advertising regulator fined the company $37.5m over unapproved advertising And the Nigerian Data Protection Commission (NDPC) alleged Meta had violated data privacy laws and fined it $32.8m. FCCPC chief executive officer Adamu Abdullahi said investigations carried out in conjunction with the data commission between May 2021 and December 2023 revealed "invasive practices against data subjects/consumers in Nigeria" but was not specific about what these were. In its court submission, Meta said its "primary concern" was with the data commission, which it accused of "misinterpreting" data privacy laws. Specifically, the commission has demanded that Meta seek prior approval before transferring any personal data out of Nigeria - a condition that Meta called "unrealistic". Haitian music icon, Fabrice Rouzier, has sued Nigerian musician Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, in a New York court over allegations that the ‘Ye’ crooner stole sound and video compositions of his 2002 song ‘Je Vais’, according to legal filings sighted by Peoples Gazette. The case stems from the recently released hit song ‘4 Kampe II’ by French-Haitian singer Joe Gilles, also known as Joe Dwet File, in collaboration with Burna Boy, which Rouzier is now claiming heavily features the story, music composition, sound recording, and video material from ‘Je Vais’ without permission. According to court documents, the first infringement occurred in fall 2024, when Gilles intentionally released ‘4 Kampe’ based on materials from ‘Je Vais’, prompting Rouzier to issue a cease and desist letter against the defendant, who the plaintiff claimed later admitted to the accusations of infringement. Amid rumors that the company is eyeing an IPO, Discord appointed former Activision Blizzard Vice Chairman Humam Sakhnini as CEO. Discord co-founder Jason Citron will leave his CEO role after 13 years at the company. Discord straddles the gaming and social media spaces — despite its initial emergence as a platform for online multiplayer gamers to communicate, it has become a prominent social media platform in its own right, growing to over 200 million monthly active users. The company’s choice to appoint a new CEO from within the gaming industry signals that it sees its future more so in gaming than in social networking. Discord noted in its press release that the company has “refocused on its gaming roots” to explore monetization opportunities in advertising and micro-transactions. But advertising and micro-transactions aren’t exactly music to gamers’ ears. The appointment of Sakhnini, along with its impending IPO, may make fans wary that the company may move in a more corporate, profit-hungry direction. Sakhnini was also CEO of the Activision Blizzard-owned King, a mobile gaming developer that makes games like Candy Crush, which thrive on ads and micro-transactions. Citron will remain involved with Discord as an advisor to the CEO and a member of the board of directors, but he told Venture Beat that he looks forward to taking a break after 13 years of running a rapidly growing startup and wants to play Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Blue Prince, and Baldur’s Gate III. Citron’s relationship with TechCrunch dates back some time. He made it to the finals stage of our famous annual Startup Battlefield competition inside Disrupt in 2013, where he pitched a multiplayer online battle arena game for the iPad that later struggled to make money. Two years later, he launched Discord. Popular Ibadan-based Fuji musician Alhaji Taye Adebisi, better known as Taye Currency, has recounted how he lost N10 million investment in CBEX, a Ponzi scheme operated by Crypto Bridge Exchange. Taye Currency, who was introduced to the scheme earlier in April, said some of his associates who convinced him to join the platform had made money from it before it collapsed. “On April 1, Sodiq came to my house and said Lateef, the brand manager, had collected some money and also introduced Alaba and Small London, who had also collected their money, and Brother Muca. “Alaba used N1.2 million he stole from the stage to invest in CBEX. Brother Muca also put in his work fee of N500,000. Sodiq used the money he was saving in the band, N850,000. Lateef invested N1.4 million.” The singer disclosed that the success of his associates in the scheme prompted him to invest in it, too. “Lateef said he used N200k to collect N600k, and I got motivated. I withdrew the money I had saved with insurance, see my life in the open. I invested N10m in CBEX on April 1, but everything vanished,” the musician lamented. Expressing regrets, the singer cursed those who introduced the scheme to him, saying: “If they die well, they won’t rest well, because I was on my own before you took me to CBEX.” Taye Currency’s lamentation followed the collapse of the investment platform, which defrauded many Nigerians of over N1.3 trillion. |
