femzey: A total of 6,900 youths in 23 stàtes across Nigeria have been selected to be trained as FADAMA Guys, according to the FADAMA National Communication Officer, Mallam Bashir Dayyabu has disclosed. He told journalists in Minna on Wednesday after the Communication Review Meeting of FADAMA Communication officers that 300 graduates and secondary school leavers were selected from each of the 23 states earmarked for the programme. According to him, the programme was part of World Bank and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture effort in contributing to the Federal Government youth employment programmes, adding the programme would encourage the youths to take up farming as a business, promote agriculture and increase the scope. He said that that out of over 20,000 applications received, only 6,900 scaled through the screening process and that the training would commence next week in the 23 states as tertiary institutions that would conduct the training had been identified in each of the 23 states. Bashir said that the trainings would include livestock rearing, fish rearing, crops production, poultry amongst others disclosing that after the two weeks training, the youths would be given some funds to start their business. Bashir expressed optimism that the training would reduce the rate of unemployed youths in the state and empower them towards ensuring the food security of the nation. He told the Communications Officers during the meeting to do more in the area of communication and come up with new communication strategies that will move the states and FADAMA forward. In his address, the Niger state FADAMA Project Coordinator, Engineer Aliyu Usman Kutigi said that the review meeting will assist to see the success of the implementation of FADAMA III Additional Financing nationwide. He added that Niger state FADAMA Coordination office have employed some communication strategies that have helped in mobilising and sensitising the communities about its programmes in the state.

Dmony: I listened to a radio station program in Oyo state some mins ago and the permanent Secretary to the ministry of Agriculture said the fadamaguys program will give each participant 1million naira as starter pack.
Now my question is will 1million be manageable for those who have more than 20 acres of land to start?
Will they decide to live in the forest for 1million not to talk of 750k...just curious. hi, has anyone gotten email or sms so far? today is 5th already. |

playbrain1089: Plastic is OK..but I will recommend u use tarpoline, seeing that it comes in better shapes than plastic tanks..and is also more flexible than the plastic tank..in terms of comparison with concrete, the most important thing will depend on your management..in my opinion apart from earthen pond that has significant advantages, there is not much difference between concrete and tarpoline ponds... Thank you very much. please in terms of cost, which is more affordable between tarpoline and plastic pond. i will also like a contact person to get these facilities in Abuja. my contact is opynion1@gmail.com |

The most important thread i have ever come across on Nairaland so far. Since 2013 and still as fresh as NEW WINE. thumb up to all the gurus in the house.
Please i am a newbie inspired to go into this business, can someone please enlighten me on the choice of pond. The most preferred on my mind is plastic fibre pond due to its flexibility and mobility but i want to know if it is as good as the concrete pond and recommendations on where i can get one and the prices and capacity if possible. No earthen pond on the list due to the location.
please i will need this answer as soon as possible. thank you once again for all the good work. |
