English premier league club, West Ham United football players stripped completely nude to practice their ball skills yesterday to launch The Sun Newspaper 'Feel ’em Friday' campaign to get men checking themselves for testicular cancer. Nine of the players are pictured naked to launch the paper's new weekly feature. Five military commanders have been handcuffed and detained at the military police guard room at the 23 Brigade headquarters in Yola Adamawa state for abandoning Mubi in Adamawa state to Boko Haram militants last Wednesday. Fleeing Nigerian soldiers sighted in Song, Adamawa state The commander whose names and ranks were given as Colonel Ibrahim, Lt. Colonel Magaji and three others abandoned the 213 Brigade headquarters a few minutes after Boko Haram militants reached Mararaba and Hildi on the outskirts of Mubi. Defense officials in Abuja had told Saharareporters that investigations were ongoing as to the cause of abandonment of the battle front by the commanders. Another set of commanders from the 234 Brigade are expected to be detained by the military authorities as soon as they leave the MRS Hospital in Yola in a day or two according our sources. The team includes Lt. Col O.A Agwu and his lieutenants. They equally fled the battle scene in Mubi and allowed Boko Haram militants to take the town with resistance. However, Lt. Col Agwu’s pick up van somersaulted twice and crashed injuring him and his lieutenants as they fled Mubi. Mubi had three army battalions comprising of the "234 Brigade, the 213 Brigade and the 21 Support Group" when it fell to militants last Thursday. The soldiers fled alongside civilians to neighboring villages in Nigeria and Cameroon. A Punch newspaper report today claims that over 300 soldiers fled to Cameroon. SaharaReporters could confirm that the rest of the soldiers are in "MIA" mode in Song Adamawa state where they await further orders to act against Boko Haram. |
Chris Mamman, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial aspirant, who was allegedly kidnapped on Sunday, re- appeared on Tuesday afternoon. He said he had been in protective custody of security agents since his disappearance. Mr. Mamman was declared missing by the director general of his campaign organization, Nawani Aboki. Mr. Aboki said the aspirant was picked up at his house in Lafia around 8.30 p.m. on Sunday after a mob attacked him and burnt his car at the palace of Aren Eggon, Bala Angbazo, in Nasarawa Eggon. Mr. Mamman, who refused to name the security outfit that held him in protective custody, said, however that initially he was unaware that the people who whisked him away were there to protect him. “Let me sincerely thank the security operatives for the quick intervention, without which the situation, as I am talking to you now, would probably have been worse,” he said. He alleged that he was assaulted by hired thugs at the palace of the paramount ruler of the Eggon nation, and his car also burnt when he went to attend a meeting at the invitation of Mr. Angbazo. “It may interest you to know that I was invited by the Eggon traditional council for a meeting with two of my brothers who are equally in the race with a view to see how we can reach a compromise,” Mr. Mamman said. “However, unknown to me, danger was ahead. Shortly after my arrival some political hoodlums attacked me and threatened to kill me.” Mr. Mamman also denied misappropriating funds while he was president of the Eggon Cultural Association, ECDA, and also denied collecting N25 million from any quarter as donation. “Let me also use this forum to address you on the rumour making the rounds that the attack on my person is because of misappropriation of funds belonging to Eggon Cultural Development Association, ECDA, of which before now I was the president,” he said. He challenged anyone with proof to come forward and show evidence. “As matter of fact the only contribution received from one of the aspirants, Senator Solomon Ewuga was N500, 000, which was used during the Azhili Eggon Cultural festival 2014,” he said. |
Chris Mamman, the immediate past National President of Eggon Cultural Association and a gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen men, his campaign director said Monday. Mr. Mamman was seized Sunday night few hours after angry youths attacked him and burnt his car at what supposed to be a peace meeting between him and other governorship candidates, including the immediate past Minister for Information, Labaran Maku. Mr. Mamman is among 13 other aspirants vying for the governorship of Nasarawa State in the 2015 general elections on the platform of PDP. Mr. Mamman was picked in his house in Lafia around 8.30 p.m. after a mob attacked him and burnt his car at the palace of Aren Eggon, Bala Angbazo, in Nasarawa Eggon, the Director General of Chris Mamman’s campaign organization, Nawani Aboki, told PREMIUM TIMES. He claimed the attack on the candidate and his subsequent abduction were the handiwork of his political opponents. “Our candidate was in Nasarawa Eggon as part of Effort by the Eggon traditional council to ensure that they are able to speak with one voice and have one candidate but as our candidate was approaching the place mob came out and accosted him and manhandled him but was later rescued,” he said. “All other candidates of Eggon extraction where there; Maku, and Ewuga but we don’t know who might have masterminded the attack among them. “Even after he was rescued, we were told later in the day that some unknown people came and took him away and we don’t know who the person is and we are yet to make contact with him 12 hours after,” he said. Mr. Aboki said his team will eventually inform the police if at the end of the day they are unable to find him. However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Umar Numan, said he was yet to be briefed over the matter. He said investigations will commence when such report was forwarded. On Sunday, Mr. Mamman was in the palace on the invitation of the paramount ruler alongside Solomon Ewuga, a senator, and Mr. Maku, to discuss how to pick a consensus candidate among them to represent the Eggon interest in the 2015 general elections. They all escaped unhurt as angry youth stormed the palace of the paramount ruler of the Eggon people, on Sunday evening. The traditional ruler was hosting a reconciliatory meeting between three Eggon sons seeking to be Nasarawa governor under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP which resulted in the youth, setting ablaze a Toyota Corolla belonging to Chris Mamman. |
President Michael Sata of Zambia has died in London, where he had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness, three private Zambian media outlets have said. Reports on the private Muzi television station and two websites, Zambia Reports and Zambian Watchdog, said the southern African nation’s cabinet was about to meet. Government officials gave no immediate comment. The death of Zambia’s president would necessitate an election within 90 days. The reports said Sata died on Tuesday evening at London’s King Edward VII hospital. The hospital declined to comment. Sata, 77, left Zambia for medical treatment on 19 October accompanied by his wife and family members, according to a brief government statement that gave no further details. There has been no official update on his condition and the acting president, Edgar Lungu, had to lead celebrations last week to mark the landlocked nation’s 50th anniversary of independence from Britain. Concern over Sata’s health has been mounting in Africa’s second-largest copper producer since June when he disappeared from the public eye without explanation and was reported to be getting medical treatment in Israel. He missed a scheduled speech at the UN general assembly in September amid reports that he had fallen ill in his New York hotel. A few days before that he had attended the opening of parliament in Lusaka, joking: “I am not dead.” Source Guardian UK |
The Association of Bleaching Celebrities of Nigeria wishes to use this medium to inform the public that the inexcusable attitude of some of its members to their fans has been brought to its attention. It has also been said that some members of this esteemed organisation have embarrassingly refused to shake hands with their fans and in some of these cases, the aggrieved fans are said to have been little kids. On behalf of all celebrity bleachers, we the ABNC kindly ask for your forgiveness. You loved us when we were black and we sincerely ask you not to love us any less even now that we are light skinned. We also want you guys to understand that we celebrities bleach our skin so that we can lighten up your screens so you will never have to increase the brightness and contrast of your TV anymore. You can ask our Nigerian movie producers why they prefer us light skinned actors. That being said, we also want to sound a note of warning to all celebrity bleachers. According to section 19 of our annually reviewed constitution, no bleacher operating within our ranks has any right whatsoever to disrespect his or her fans. Such unruly attitude should stop henceforth. Anyone culpable of this dastardly act will be severely dealt with according to what is stated in our constitution. We want to also use this medium to pass this vital information to the rest of the public and it will be in the interest of everyone to read the following very carefully. The ABNC is the umbrella body of all celebrity bleachers and we are responsible for every bleaching celebrity you see on TV and on the streets. We will also like you to understand that no celebrity bleacher will intentionally snub or refuse to shake hands with his or her fans. A lot of these incidents have occurred as a result of stigmatisation of bleachers by the public. Nigerian celebrity bleachers especially have been unfairly criticised by the public for having black knuckles, white body and black yansh. Therefore, the unwillingness of celebrity bleachers to shake hands in public should be regarded as a silent protest over the bizarre treatment accorded bleachers in this country. They are humans and they deserve the rights to decide their skin or vein colours. Be it black, blue, red or rainbow, it is their choice and the public must accept and respect it. After all, if you are a very observant fan, you would have noticed that all light-skinned male celebrities always wear suits or long sleeve shirts and walk with their hands in their pockets. Walking with your hands in your pockets is prescribed by this distinguished organisation to all bleachers. In cases of bleaching gone wry, please note that celebrity bleachers don’t do all these because they want to be seen as fashionably sensitive or too cool to care. They do it to avoid that embarrassing moment when you discover that your pretty face celebrity has the hands of a local tye and dye merchant. We hope that henceforth, whenever you see a light skinned celebrity with pocketed hands, you will save yourself the embarrassment and kindly let him be. A celebrity bleacher with bad bleaching experience is like a dog with rabies and no sane person messes with a rabies- infected dog. We implore you non-bleachers to be more sensitive to the plights of bleachers. To you male fans who love greeting women with a kiss on their cheeks, please be advised to keep your damn kisses to yourself whenever you see those light-skinned celebs who love tying scarves around their necks. It is not fair to expose someone’s multi- coloured neckline to the whole world because you want to prove that you can greet like an arab. And if you are a church usher who is fond of telling people to raise their hands up during worship, better stay the hell away from any light- skinned celebrity you see in church. Allow them to worship with their hands glued to their sides. We swear, you don’t want to see that armpit. Our sincere appreciation also goes to all men out there dating a celebrity bleacher, we commend your patience. You have stood by them knowing you can’t take them to the pool because of their black yansh. And when they forced you to take them against your will to the pool, you still had to endure the fact that they got into the swimming pool fully dressed in their leggings, T-shirts and stockings. May you be rewarded handsomely for your stoicism and perseverance. One quick advice though, inasmuch as you may love your bleached spouse and want to treat her to different types of adventure, it is paramount that you resist every pressure to take her to the beach. Please listen to us very carefully; you have to protect her from bleachers allergies. They react to sea water like an ogbanje reacts to deliverance. And if you don’t want to be staring at your bleached spouse rolling and crying in agony on the beach sand, don’t let the sea water come in contact with her skin.Nigerians, please stop judging us by the colour of our skin. We will never be ashamed to admit to the public that all light-skinned celebrities are bleachers because this same bleaching has made us the most preferred in Nollywood today. It has made our ladies more desirable and more noticeable by Nigerian men. It has also helped some of our colleagues who were straight up ugly become attractive. That is why our motto is, Show me a light-skinned celebrity who doesn’t bleach and I will show you a local dog that doesn’t eat shit. Copied from PUNCH. |
Queen Elizabeth II gets her social media baptisim: "Bleep off!" The Queen tweeted for the first time yesterday with the whole world watching via the @BritishMonarchy account saying: "It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R." The tweet, which was retweeted 36,000 times and favourited 37,000 times, was responded by a curt "f*** off" by a user named @WolfgangDikface, which the broadcaster showed live on BBC News. His original response, which has now been deleted, was posted again through a screenshot of his tweet captured on the news report amid positive replies to the Queen from other users of the social media site. @WolfgangDikface no doubt got a lot of attention from his tweet and later posted: "New followers: Have a look round, make yourself comfortable but telling an 88 year old woman to f*** off on the BBC is about as good as i get".
