Peter Obi named ‘Most Impactful Fourth Republic Politician’, Soludo ‘Rural Development Governor of the Year’

Peter, former Anambra governor and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, received the 2023 Champion Newspaper’s ‘Most Impactful Politician of the Fourth Republic (1999 to 2023)’ award on Saturday.

The newspaper honoured Mr Obi at the Champion Annual Awards held on Saturday night in Lagos.

The media outlet described Mr Obi as a distinguished leader widely recognised for his contributions to public policy, good governance, international business, 21st-century leadership, and human capital development.

The paper also awarded Governor Charles Soludo the ‘2023 Governor of the Year on Infrastructure and Rural Development’. It described Mr Soludo as a distinguished achiever whose dedication and excellence transformed the landscape of Anambra.

It added that Mr Soludo’s tenure had been characterised by a focus on infrastructure and rural development, driving transformative projects that revitalised communities, improved livelihoods and set new governance and public service standards.

Other awardees at the event included the national chairman of All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, who received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’, and Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who received the ‘2023 Excellence in Service Award’.

In her speech, the paper’s managing director, Nwaduito Iheakanwa, said that the awards were about Nigerians’ responsiveness to what held the citizenry together.

“For Nigeria to get better and bigger, we will need more of this calibre of people and institutions that we set out to honour this evening because they constitute an integral part of the best.

“My simple message to us is that Nigerians should assiduously face issues of good governance and set aside politics and political meandering. For us, change comes from constructive thoughts and sound actions,“ she said.

In his remarks, the chairman of the occasion, NDLEA boss Buba Marwa, said all the awardees deserved their awards.

Marwa said, “The purpose of awards, such as these, is to encourage the citizens to do even more in their areas of expertise and callings and also let Nigerians and the entire world know that if you work hard enough, there is a reward for it.”

Politics / PDP Publicity Secretary Appologizes For Its Failure In Abia For 24 Years by OredoPikin: 6:43am On May 26
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Abia State, South-East Nigeria has tendered an open apology to the people of the State for what it says was, “not meeting their expectations” while in power for about 24 years in the State.

The Party is however appealing for another chance, promising to make amends.

Acting State Publicity Secretary, Abraham Amah who addressed journalists after a stakeholders meeting in Umuahia, says the lessons learnt from their mistakes will be used to chat a new course for the party in the State.

He is happy that the PDP across the 17 Local Government Areas of the State is still intact, despite becoming the opposition.

Amah praised the resilience and oarty spirit of the members under what he describes as hostile state and national governments.

The Umuahia meeting is the first by the Abia State PDP stakeholders, since the party suffered humiliating defeat in the 2023 general elections.

Bruisecruise:
So what happens in 2027 when APC returns to power through Ganduje’s candidate as governor? Dethrone Sanusi again? And the cycle continues?

To be honest, Sanusi could have thanked Abba for the gesture but declined to be returned and ask the governor to appoint another neutral Emir in his stead after the unification of the emirate back to the way it once was.

That way, it would be outrightly difficult and ridiculous for any future governor to tamper with the arrangement. Also, it would cement Sanusi as one of the greatest leaders ever.

With the current development, it has paved way for political ping-pongs to be played with the throne of the emirate.

Do you guys think Ganduje would take this fight as a defeat in his lifetime? Sanusi knows that he’s on a borrowed time no matter how we emotionally spin these events.
Ganduje is dead politically in kano
He was beaten blue black twice without kwakwanso backing him in 2019 and 2023.
Kwakwanso controls kano politics and he decides who becomes governor
As long as kwakwanso is alive, sanusi will remain there

Anambra had always done well in education before Obi. Obi was not the factor. If Obi built school why didn't you post for Reno to give you $11,000 ? Keep deluding yourselves. This is exactly what annoyed Soludo to say Obis investments in Anambra is currently next to nothing. He said it because of Obis zombies like yourself. Why didn't Obi disprove him. He went silent. If Obi had said Jack Soludo would have further exposed his yansh.
Lolz
Now i have confirmed 100% that u are a fool.
U know zero about Anambra
Why was the governor between 1999 to 2003 Chinwoke Mbadinuju sacked from returning back?
Schools in Anambra were completely dilapidated. Schools were closed for one year in that state
Insecurity was the highest
Obasenjo made sure Chinwoke Mbadinuju never got PDP second term ticket because of how tatter the state was
Hatred wont allow u people to make research

The same soludo became gov via Obi works.

Zombism is well u actually believed obi didn't build school for 8yrs
Zombism is after seeing his legacies in education manifesting daily both national and international and still come here to type nonsense
Zombism is when he was the only gov during his time that allow external auditors from ecowas to audit his administration finances but still doubt him
Zombism is when he won best governor on numerous occasions even when he was the only governor on the platform of APGA and still come here to display stupidity

Politics / FG Disembarks On Lagos-calabar Highway Realignment Due To Submarine Cables by OredoPikin: 2:50am On May 24
By Mayowa Dorusinmi

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced its decision to disembark from the proposed Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway realignment.

This was disclosed at the 3rd Stakeholders Meeting in Lagos, where the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, confirmed that the proposed diversion would no longer occur due to the submarine cables along the coastline.

Umahi also announced that the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) would not be available for now, citing Section 15 (b) of the Freedom of Information Act to support the government’s decision to withhold certain information from the press and public.

The Section Umahi cited is the exception of third-party information, which allows government institutions to deny journalists or the public access to information.

Meanwhile, the announcement comes after the telecommunication companies warned the government of the possibility of network outage in the country if the diversion is not reconsidered.

The government has since decided not to proceed with the diversion, which would affect connectivity to the internet in the country and lead to the demolition of ancestral homes in the Okun-Ajah community.

In a video posted by journalist Laila Johnson-Salami, members of the Okun-Ajah community were seen praising the Tinubu-led administration for its decision not to use the route.

Despite previous demolitions that affected the beachfront of private businesses, including LandMark, the government is now considering alternatives to ensure the continuation of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.

Here is a close look at the Nigeria map.
It is worthy of note that Edo state is the only state in the entire South South without access to the Atlantic ocean.

Why was Delta and Ondo state joined that way at the bottom instead of just extending Edo state to the Atlantic ocean

What was the offense of Edo state to the person that carved out this map to warrant this injustice?

Extending Edo state to the Atlantic ocean will never have affected Ondo and Delta state from having access to the ocean, but the person that carved out the map this way still cut-off Edo state regardless
