If you are observant and keenly follow Nigerian politics, unravelling Tinubu’s political plan is very easy.

Immediately he was sworn in, he activated the plan from day one.
He anticipated that the core North may not give him the same support they gave him in 2023. He learnt from GEJ, despite all GEJ did for the core North, he was still ditched. So what did Tinubu do?

First, he got governors in the South and Middle Belt to align with the centre.
Next, he saw Obi as a stumbling block in those areas based on Obi’s performance in the last election. So he did everything possible to frustrate Obi out of the Labour Party and ensure he would never be on the ballot. The calculation was simple: if Obi is not on the ballot, Tinubu would have room to rig massively in those regions.

Now that didn’t work, the next plan has been activated: create voter apathy with the narrative that “a vote for Obi is dividing the opposition and giving Tinubu a better chance to win.” They know this narrative will discourage people from voting, thereby giving Tinubu room to rig massively in the South and Middle Belt to his advantage.

This too has been busted. And now we wait for the next agenda.

Let’s break this APC narrative slowly.

APC supporters are already pushing a narrative a vote for Obi is a vote for Tinubu.

Ask yourself: If that were true,
wouldn't Tinubu supporters be happy about it?
They would have secretly kept it within themselves and allow people vote Obi so Tinubu can easily win, but they are telling you and pushing it, why?, because that is not true and that is not the game plan

So what’s the real game?

1. It’s about voter apathy, not vote counting
They know most voters in the South see Tinubu and Atiku as two sides of the same coin. "Birds of a feather". If they convince you that voting Obi won’t change anything, you will stay home.

Stay home = no resistance in the South.

2. Empty South = Manufactured results
APC knows Obi owns the South. 2023 proved it. If people actually come out to vote, the South will massacre Tinubu’s numbers.

But if they create doubt and you stay home, then they can manufacture results from the South to cancel whatever Atiku gets from the North. Low turnout is their best rigging tool.

3. Who is Obi really hurting?
The biggest loser with Obi on the ballot is Tinubu. Since 2023 Tinubu abandoned governance to consolidate the South. Now that South is slipping and the North that brought him in 2023 have left him. Obi presence splits the vote Tinubu was counting on, and it kills his Southern base and limit his rigging strategy.

So next time you see vote Obi = vote Tinubu, flip it back:
No. Vote Obi = Obi massacres Tinubu in the South and limit his rigging strategy. And that is exactly why Tinubu did everything possible to ensure Obi dont get on the ballot. Now that Obi is on the ballot, the second strategy has been activated which is to create voter's apathy in the south with that narrative.

Since the recent kidnapping incident in Oyo, a troubling pattern has emerged among some supporters of President Tinubu, especially from the Southwest. Instead of condemning insecurity outright, there has been a visible scramble to find similar incidents in the Southeast. Some have even been openly praying for such a tragedy to occur in the SE.

Let us pause and ask the obvious question, If another kidnapping happens in the Southeast or anywhere else in Nigeria tomorrow, is it not the same Tinubu failure?

Is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the president of the Southwest alone?
Does the Southeast, the North, or any other region have a different president separate from him? The answer is no.
He swore an oath to protect all Nigerians, from Lagos to Enugu, from Sokoto to Edo.

So what does it say about a government when its supporters are wishing misfortune on another part of the country, just to score political points or deflect blame? If you are hoping that the Southeast or South South experiences the same pain Oyo just went through, that is not strategy. That is an indictment on the Tinubu government. It means you have no faith that he can prevent it anywhere, so you rather see it spread around to make it look balanced.

Insecurity is not a regional trophy to be shared. It is a national disgrace when it happens under any president watch. The moment supporters start praying for their own people to suffer just to shield their principal from criticism, they have admitted, without saying it, that the government has failed.

Tinubu is president of Nigeria. Not Yorubaland. Not APC strongholds. Nigeria. If Oyo is bleeding, it is his responsibility. If the Southeast or other part of Nigeria is bleeding tomorrow, it will still be his responsibility. Wishing it on others doesn’t solve Oyo. It only exposes the moral bankruptcy of those doing the wishing.

Nigerians deserve security everywhere, not a competition of who suffers next.
