why won't we love foreign products does the government provide company to produce a durable products for us to consume? See our government is confused they don't know what they are doing,why would you close border when we don't have other means of getting imported items or have a means of getting it locally? At least before you close and barn foreign products you must have a local products which is equal or up to task.

The govt can't be responsible for everything. Blame Nigerians who refuse to do these things locally. I admit the govt is part of the problem, but also, we Nigerians are stubborn lots. We sabotage our own to have those foreign materials. We have the capacity to manufacture rice, but no we won't. When everyone feel the brunt, we face our rice and more people get into the business, competition will drive the price down. Govt can't produce everything, but we as a people can create ways for ourselves by solving problems we are capable of.

You are a dunce. You can go through my posts if you see me supporting APC or PDP. When has security and purchasing locally made food been a political issue? That is what happens when we are too stubborn. If we cannot do it the simple way, then we must go through the hard way. We are not serious in this country. we Nigerians are known to sabotage efforts for personal gains. Na weytin fit us be this. Do you know that those gala/soda sellers destroy the roads by midnight so as to cause traffic so they will be able to hawk their wares the next morning? That is what will happen when they keep the borders open. Sabotage the alternatives and keep the importation business as usual. We as a people are a reflection of our society. Shame!

I'm not a fan of this govt, but I agree with this move 100%.
Nigerians and their love for foreign products is on another level. Even when the alternative is available, we go for the foreign product believing they are better. I have a friend with that shallow mentality, and many Nigerians are like that.
On the side of security, this is also a 'spot-on' move.

Anytime they are outside the country, they should always be disgraced like this, and if possible, they should be beaten. Useless lots.

Goes to show you the mindset of an average Nigerian. Tribalism is rife. Nairaland shouldn't encourage it by not doing anything about tribalistic posts. If there are people like us, reporting every such post, you'll see that it will automatically reduce. Just report and the post will disappear. It worked in the days of stupid memes that became rife on Nairaland.

Yes, I'm looking to apply for an undergraduate degree, computer science at Berea College, Kentucky, USA. After searching the forum, I saw @estelle6763's post on same college. My WAEC result isn't that great because I had only one B grade accompanied by C grades, so I'm looking to you guys on here to advice me on my next step. I plan to apply next year (I can make it my sole goal). Is it advisable I take new SSCE exam and look to get all A grades (I can do it if I set my heart to it)? I can start preparing, but I need inputs from you guys.
